You know what? I don't want to change my VPN every six months cause it was caught selling information. I don't want to go deep into the settings of every website I so much as look at. I don't want my internet browsing to be a constant leap through hoops so that companies can't do things which should be illegal anyway. I want privacy to be the default and for it to be difficult to take it away, not the other way around. Is that too much to ask?

Someone echoing my thoughts on a calm and professional manner. I AM shocked by First Kill's cancelation. You should be shocked, too. Yes, Netflix is cutthroat. Yes, Netflix cancels wlw projects without a second thought. But the numbers are what make this shocking. DO NOT let this slide because 'oh well it's Netflix'. They cannot get away with this because they've now created a reputation. You know what happens with bad behavior left unchecked? It escalates and that's what just happened here.

I hope fans fight to get this show out of Netflix's hands. Apparently shows owned by Netflix can't be sold to a different streaming platform for a few years (shit, I'd wait), but they can be sold to networks. That seems to be what happened with One Day at a Time. Sadly, I can think of no network fit for First Kill. It would be so nice if Netflix just admitted they fucked up and gave it another season. Anyway, I just...I pray we haven't seen the last of this show.

Nothing is for everyone.

If you didn't like First Kill, that's fine. But before you decide to be a petty ass in the tag, in a devastating moment for thousands of people here, saying "I told you so, it was bad", bad shit gets renewed constantly.

All networks and streamers care about is views. People watch bad shit all the time. Sometimes that bad shit is the most entertaining, I suppose. They renew stuff based on quantity (views/viewers), not quality.

The bottom line is First Kill was a modest hit with a low budget and there's no way in hell the numbers for the first three weeks alone and the seriously impressive social media engagement and demand for the show didn't justify renewal of a show with a budget of $5 and some crazy glue with CGI that could probably be done in photoshop. For what it costs to make and for being as small a production as it was, it was a relatively huge hit.

Netflix never intended to renew it. I think they really got close because it exceeded their expectations, and that's why the announcement took so long. But they ultimately decided to do what they always planned to do - milk it for all its worth during pride season- and canceled it.

these were the numbers of first kill’s initial 3 weeks… for comparison, they were ranking alongside or even above shows like heartstopper, stranger things, the umbrella academy. it simply don’t make sense and i WILL be mad about it!
