So many. However I lost my job in September and started new one. So I comeback everyday so tired that all I do is eat and then go to bed 😅 but I'll definitely comeback here. Thank you though bc i didn't think anyone reads it❤️
[7:02am] Training room in the House of Wind was usually only occupied by Cassian, especially in the early hours. And today was not different, the man was already exercising for half an hour, when he heard steps. He immediately turned around towards the entrance and waited for few seconds.
Rhysand's sister was the last person he'd expect to be there at that time. She walked inside the training room and waited for a moment. It was clear that she woke up not so long ago. With dark hair still in a messy braid and blanket around her body.
''Everything's okay? Something happened?", Cassian asked, scanning every inch of her body, searching for something to give him answer. Woman shook her head, which made him relax just a bit.
"I don't want to be alone.", she answered and then pointed at some mats in the corner. "Can I stay here?"
"Of course.", Cassian answered with a smile and watched her moved to the place and get comfortable. "You know, we should re-start our trainings."
"Absolutely, but not at seven in the morning.", she said softly, with eyes already closed and pulling blanket as high as possible.
Cassian laughed at her answer and tried go back his exercies. Tried because it's safe to say, that this training session was already useless. There's no way he'd be able to focus with he rin the room or at least leave her from his sight.
[3:22pm] It's been two weeks since Rhysand came back with his sister, after being held Under The Mountain. Two long weeks and since then nobody was allowed to even enter her room. High Lord explained it as he wanted to give her space and time to rest after long years of tortures.
Cassian understood all of this. He knew that whatever happened there wasn't pleasant, especially when he found out that the siblings were separated. It couldn't mean anything nice. He understood his meanings. He also wanted her to get better and rest as much as she needed to. Hell, if it helped he would stay as far away from her as possible. If it meant she'd get better, he wouldn't even think twice.
But on the other hand he wanted to see her. When Rhysand walked inside the House of Wind holding his unconscious sister, Cassian's heart stopped for a second. She was so small and fragile, someone totally different than he remembered forty nine years ago.
Cassian entered woman's room as quietly as he could. He knew that it was really hard to wake her up, but he wouldn't take that chance anymore. He walked slowly to the chair that was near the bed - the one that Rhysand was sitting during the nights, especially when he couldn't sleep - and sat down.
He didn't know how long he was in that room. Minutes, hours, days? It didn't matter. His eyes was locked on her the whole time. Thinking about everything that happened. How for almost fifty years he was praying to Gods that the love of his life is alive and would comeback. And maybe they listened to him after all.
Cassian would monitor her every breath, every move of a finger as if she'd dissappear in any second. Just like she did in his nightmares.
The woman moved her head slightly and Cassian was already on his feet, coming closer to the bed. She called Rhysand's name, rather whispered, and opened her eyes a little.
"He had to leave for few hours.", Cassian said softly, trying not to speak too loud. "Do you want me to bring him?", he added and woman shook her head slowly.
"Just don't leave me alone.", she said. Her fingers twitched slightly and the man didn't even hesitate to held them tight in his hands.
"I'm not going anywhere.", he whispered, stroking her palm. It didn't matter if he had to be there for hour - he was ready.
[6:27am] Prythian was officialy free. Amarantha was dead. Everyone could finally go to their homes even if a lot of them were destroyed. But before Rhysand could do the same thing he had to find his sister.
She came with him to the Masquerade organized by Amamrantha. She was with him all the time only to dissappear few moments before everything happened. He assumed she'd comeback after few minutes but when Amarantha trapped them and she was still gone, he started to panic.
She wasn't supposed to be there in the first place. That wasn't the plan and he made sure to not inform anybody about but. However she always knew when something was going like. And even if Rhysand tried to make her stay, she insisted to help him. And "no" wasn't an answer.
After being locked Under The Mountain he searched for her every time he had a moment to himself. Rhysand looked in every cell, every room, corridor, everywhere he could even think of, but she wasn't there. Only him to assume that there was a spell to hide the place she was held at.
So Rhysand had to wait until everything was over to get her back. He had to wait for his powers and hope that his sister would still be alive when he gets to her.
And she was. Barely. Woman was chained in dark cell, laying on the floor unconscious. She didn't even move when Rhysand walked inside.
He quickly ran towards her, cupping woman's face. Her eyes were closed as Rhysand called her name.
"Hey! Please wake up.", he whispered. His eyes felt wet, as even tiny thought, that his sister might be gone, went through his mind. "Please, please wake up. I have so much to tell you.", man added, tears streaming down his face now.
"Rhysand?", she whispered. Her was voice weak, almost no existing. He just nodded, although she would not see it anyway. "Please leave me alone. Do not come here ever again with promises you can't fulfill. I don't think I will be able to survive it anymore."
More tears streamed down Rhysand's face. He could feel his heart breaking, because how many times Amamrantha made her see him throughout the last forty nine years? How many time she saw him coming to save her only to leave her abandoned in this dungeon?
"It's me. I'm really this time. I'm not leaving you.", he said softly, chocking on his tears. Then Rhysand took off the chains from her limbs and neck. He waited few moments to calm himself down but also to give her some time to adjust. The man picked his sister up and started walking out of the room, holding her as close as possible. "We're going home."
[10:31am] The meeting was awful. No one wanted to be here in the first place, but for some reason Rhysand insisted to go over some reports with everybody. He also said that it would be a quick twenty minute thing but here they were two hours later, still sitting and listening. Or at least most of them were trying to pay even a fraction of attention.
Rhysand was going on about some changes that Velaris would be going through in the next months and his sister was doing everything in her power to not fall asleep. She would look around the room and find new things that probably were there for decades but didn't notice it till that day. Then if everything was covered by her eyes she would look at every single person in the room. What they were wearing, how they're trying to survive this horrible time.
And then she looked at Cassian. Standing by the huge windows with arms crossed. He was already monitoring her every move which was way more entertaining that whatever Rhysand was talking about. Their eyes locked for few seconds and then Cassian moved his eyebrows quickly up and down. The woman turned her head as soon as possible and laughed, which immediately tried to cover it by coughing. Not the best strategy as the whole room looked at her.
"I'm sorry.", she said and started waving her palms. "Continue please.", she added. Few seconds later woman looked at Cassian, but he was laughing with hand covering ghost mouth.
Summary: Cassian convinces you to help him retrieve an item from his brother’s room. It doesn't quite go as you had planned.
Warnings: none really, slightly suggestive comments and a hint of smut if you squint (the tiniest hint). Just bat boys being silly.
A/N: Just something a little bit light hearted. I wrote this in one go after waking up this morning as I needed to get it out of my head. Enjoy the silliness. Comments very welcome I love to hear your thoughts.
Edit: you ask and you shall receive, part 2 here x

Cassian looks at you with a familiar hint of mischief in his eyes.
“Come on sweetheart. Light of my life. The most beautiful female in all of Prythian.”
You roll your eyes at his words, a small smile on your lips. You continue making your breakfast, trying to manoeuvre around him as he’s trying to block your path.
“Your flattery doesn’t work on me Cass. Also you forget I have known you for way too long to go along with any of your schemes.”
And you have. Being childhood friends you have been there through all of his terribly planned out pranks and plots.
He sighs but by the look in his eyes you can tell he isn’t going to give up anytime soon.
“You don’t understand, I NEED that dagger. It’s technically mine anyway, Az stole it from me. I just need you to distract him for a little bit while I go into his room and grab it. I’ll be stealthy, I promise. I’ll go in through the window. No harm done.”
You don’t mean to but you start laughing and you snort at the vision of a 200 pound Illyrian trying to stealthily push himself through a window.
You grab your cup of tea and lean against the counter.
“Stealthy? Cass, I love you but being stealthy is not really your vibe. You’re better off leaving that to the professional spies, like Az.”
His eyes light up at your words, and you can see some unspoken plan forming in his head. He claps his hands together. You immediately regret everything you’ve just said.
“Or like you! That’s it, change of plan. I’ll go distract Az, you sneak in through the window to get the dagger.“ He looks at you with pleading eyes, pouting.
The Lord of Bloodshed, looking at you like a stroppy child that won’t stop until he gets his way.
You groan. “I did not become a trained spy for this court to aid you in your stupid pranks, you overgrown bat.” but you’re caving, and you know Cassian can tell.
“I’ll take you out for dinner, my treat. Anywhere you want. And I’ll wash your dishes for a whole month.”
You roll your eyes, taking a small sip from your tea as if you need to think about it for a minute. You don’t. And Cassian knows it too.
“Come on, I know you want to.”
You sigh. “Fine, but I pick somewhere expensive AND you buy my outfit.”
He looks at you with a big grin on his face. “Done.”
—————
This is stupid. Utterly ridiculous. You swear softly to yourself as you look from the little balcony you are standing on to the window of Azriel’s room on the left.
Ever the gentleman he had traded rooms with you a while ago, giving you the one with the balcony and moving into the smaller one without himself.
Which meant getting in through his window was going to be a lot more challenging than you had considered.
Thank the mother he had left it open.
—————
After an embarrassing struggle with the window and a small freakout about heights, you’ve made it into Azriel's bedroom.
Your courage in your little mission wavers as you look at the collection of daggers displayed on a big table against one of the walls. Cassian had described the one you are looking for to you in great detail but looking at the overwhelming amount of weapons, this is going to be a challenge.
The Spymaster is a grade A hoarder. Perfect.
You make a system in your head as you start looking, getting so wrapped up in the task at hand that you don’t notice the small shadows slipping in through the crack under the door.
You’re a good spy, but this ridiculous search has made you leave your guard down. Also Azriel is the one that trained you. It’s a lost cause to begin with.
Then out of nowhere the room goes dark. A soft curse leaves your lips as you try to look around for a way to escape. It’s no use. You’ve been caught.
Well, that didn’t last long. You should’ve known, Cassian is a terrible liar.
You suddenly feel a presence behind you, lips hovering right over your ear. You shiver at the feeling. “Looking for something love?”
Azriel moves closer, wrapping one of his arms around your waist as he presses you against him to keep you in place. There’s no making a quick escape now.
Not that you could get away anyway with the room being as dark as it is.
Your breath hitches at the pet name and you lean back slightly, savouring the feeling of Azriel’s strong chest pressed against your back.
“Just admiring your collection.” you reply casually, knowing damn well that Azriel can see right through you.
“Is that so?” he whispers back, lips touching the shell of your ear before moving down to the spot in your neck he knows drives you crazy.
This isn’t new territory for the two of you, but there is usually a lot more alcohol involved.
“Then why did I just get dragged out of my room by Cassian pretending to have a very important, non-existent laundry crisis he needed my help with?”
You really should’ve given the general some pointers. A laundry crisis, really? Why did you agree to help him again?
He spins the two of you around and before you realise what is happening you are pressed against the wall on the other side of the room, Azriel hovering over you.
The darkness has cleared slightly.
“What is he looking for?” He asks, staring into your eyes with an intensity that makes your knees feel weak.
“Nothing.” You squeak, voice an octave higher than it should be.
His scent is overwhelming your senses and it’s becoming more and more difficult to not keep staring at his lips.
He smirks. He knows exactly what he’s doing to you.
He moves even closer, lips hovering over your own, almost touching. “I don’t believe you.”
You close your eyes and take a deep breath while trying to block out the male in front of you. His body presses even closer to your own and his lips find their way to your ear again. “If you tell me I’ll reward you.”
You shiver as you feel heat begin to pool in your core.
“I’ve been trained never to reveal my secrets on a mission.” you reply, voice surprisingly steady considering your current state.
“Since it was me that trained you I think it’s okay to make an exception.” Azriel mumbles, as his lips trace the outline of your jaw.
One of his hands starts moving up your side, making small circles up towards your breast. He stops the movement just underneath and rests his hand there. Tease.
He pulls his lips away from their position on your jaw to look into your eyes again. His pupils are blown and you can tell it’s taking him a lot of strength to not just devour you then and there.
You smirk. “You okay there Shadowsinger?”
“Never better.” his voice comes out rough.
You can’t take this any longer.
“He wants the dagger you stole from him.” you mumble as you move one of your hands to trace the outline of his wing. He hisses in response, pressing a knee between your legs to push them apart so he can settle in between them.
“Does he now?” he grumbles. “I’ll have you know he lost that dagger in a bet, fair and square. I didn’t steal anything. It’s not my fault he’s such a sore loser.”
He presses against you and the feeling of his evident arousal makes your cheeks flush. His hand starts moving again, slowly tracing the outline of your breast before softly grazing your nipple. You let out a small whine.
Your eyes find Azriel’s again and you are about to crash your lips to his when you hear a loud knock on the outside of his door.
“LET ME IN, I’M TAKING MY DAGGER BACK.” It seems like Cassian is getting desperate and has decided to resort to his favourite way of getting what he wants, violence.
Azriel presses his lips to yours and slowly bites down on your bottom lip. “Don’t go anywhere, we aren’t finished.” he whispers into your mouth. Then he steps away from you and light floods the room again.
[00:14am] "And we're in your room.", Cassian annouced as he walked inside the room with Rhysand's sister in his arms.
"I think I drank too much.", she whispered and laid head on man's chest.
"It happens to all of us.", he laughed and walked straight to bed. Cassian sat her down on the edge, but woman just fell on the side as if there was no control over her body. She was about to bring legs on the bed, but the General was faster. "Hey! No shoes on the bed.", he scolded her but only earned a laugh.
A sound that, Cassian was sure, could heal nations and saves so many creatures. Sound that was so rare, he only heard it few times in the past centuries. He looked down at the woman just laying on the bed. She was smiling but her eyes were almost fully closed. There was not much time between this state and falling asleep.
Cassian took off woman's shoes and she made a relief sound. Those weren't typical shoes that she wore everyday. Something more like a night out ones. They definately looked amazing on her but at the same time didn't look comfortable at all.
Then he moved her higher on the bed and covered with two sets of blankets. There will be definately a big hangover in the morning, she didn't need to be cold too.
And then he just sat there, next to her.
Moments like this were so rare to them. When she was born, Cassian and his brothers were busy with their own life. Drinking, girls, wars and everything else three hundred year olds would do. It didn't help, that her father would basically hide her from the entire world for over twenty years. For a long time only few dozens of people would know that the High Lord has a daughter.
But one day she came to the war camps with Rhysand. Small trip that she begged her father for the longest time. Everybody's eyes were on her and quickly she became a talk of the whole camp for weeks. Cassian still remembers every little detail of her look that day and often comes back to the moment they officialy met.
It wasn't anything special, but they way she looked at him made his heart beat faster. She didn't even say a word, just sent a polite smile and nod towards Cassian and Azriel. From that moment the General knew he loved her.
"Me and Azriel used to have this conversation a lot.", Cassian started turning towards the woman, who was already sleeping. "He'd always say how much he hates being in love with Mor. Not because he hates her, but because he can't be with her. And I would never get it. Because being in love with you is the best thing in the world. Even if you don't see it the way I do. Even if you bury yourself in your own world and pay no attention to me. I would not change it for anything else."
[1:27am] The tavern was loud. But for some reason that was something that Cassian needed. He needed to cut all of his thoughts. However it was not really possible as both Rhysand and Azriel joined them. Especially after they've heard what happened.
"So can you explain everything again?", Rhysand said with big smile. Then he took another sip of his drink.
"Yes! Especially the part when she ignored you.", Azriel laughed. The general just groaned and put down cup with his drink a little bit too loud. He explained it to them two times already, but because of the amout of alcohol in his system he didn't stop himself from going over the whole situation again.
"I saw her at the library.", he started and both of his friends nodded, letting him know that they're listening. "I was waiting I think like fourty minutes before I even went into her direction. I was so scared, but then I told myself that I am the general of Night Court army. I can't be afraid. I was walking, walking, walking. I got to her table and said: I don't think we've ever been in the same room, did we? She paused reading, packed everything and left to a different room."
And just like two times before Azriel and Rhysand bursted out laughing like it was the funniest thing in the world. Cassian swore he could even see tears in the oldest's eyes.
"It never happened to me!", general said louder than he expected. "She didn't even look at me. If you don't give me an answer - that's fine! But a look would be respectable."
"To be fair, she said to me like two words in the past few years. And I'm the High Lord, I hired her.", Rhysand said after waves of laugh. "So you're not that special."
"Oh brother, you're even in worse situation than me.", Azriel added and both with Rhysand laughed again.
[5:57pm]"I don't believe you.", Rhysand said leaning back to chair in his office. "I'm five hundred years old, I would definately heard about another Vanserra being born last century."
"Not when your own father is embarrased from the day of your birth.'', she said, not leaving her eyes from the man. "Embarrased so much that locks you in a chamber and never lets you out. Never comes to see you or allows anyone to enter even the wing of the manor you live. Beside one maid who brings food. And if anyone would break the ban, even if it's his wife or dearest son, they would get painful punishment.", she added and Rhysand could see that she was speaking from the experience. "I don't know what my father is planning. But I heard whispers that he is working on a spell to transfer all my powers to his body. And I can't let that happen.''
"And what powers do you have?", he asked.
The woman just took of her black velvet gloves. Slowly, taking her time and put them down on her lap. There was no sound or anything to see but Rhysand could immediately feel the magic going through her body, veins, muscles. It was going through the whole room or even house. It's like the gloves were stopping everything from spreading, so that no one could feel what she could do with her gift.
Lady took deep breath in and laid her hand on the desk. Characteristic sound went through Rhysand's ears. It's like something was burning. And actually something was burning - his desk. She lifted the hand and he clearly could see palm burned on the surface.
"The gloves stop me from hurting people.", she said putting them on. This was definately a question on Rhysand's list to ask. "Not that I meet many."
"So what do you want?", he asked. Whatever she did want it he was definately interested in, but at what cost? Is this just a trick to play with his mind? Something that Eris or even Beron thought would be fun to do?
"My brother always says that he hates the Night Court and every single person in it. However he also says that there's not a man in the Prythian that he respects more than you.'', she answered and Rhysand let out quiet laugh. "So I trust him with everything I have and come here to ask you to help me with what I got from the Mother."
"And what do you have to convince me to help you? Because from what I know, I could train you to use the powers you got to full potential. But what if you are going to use them againt me?", he said, tilting his head. "What you're going through is awful and I am deeply sorry. But I am also a High Lord of the Night Court and I can't let someone from outside to ruin this place. You have nothing to offer to make a bargain."
"I have dragons.'', she blurted out quickly without even giving it a second thought. Now this was something that Rhysand was not expecting and woman could definately see it from reaction. His face didn't change much from what it was before but she could see the curiosity in his eyes. "I have two dragons under my chamber. They're young and not bigger than standard bear or horse. But they are growing every single day. I'm raising and training them and fortunately they don't listen to anybody except me. So if something, anything, happens to the Night Court. I'm willing to bring them here and fight for your people."
And it was definately something tha's worth to make a bargain for.
[11:12pm] "Do I have something on my face?", she asked as they walked around the Velaris. The night was cold but it didn't seem to matter to any of them.
"I just like to look at you.", Cassian answered as he brought her closer to his chest. He still looked down at her chest and smiled. Small moon-shaped pendant with red diamond was shinning in the street lights. He gave it to her as a Winter Solistice present almost four months ago and never saw her without it. Which surprised Cassian, since jewelery was not really something that's part of her everyday wear.
"I like it.", woman said and touced the necklace "It's my favourite one", she added between kisses.
"It's the only one you wear.", Cassian laughed into her lips before placing one more kiss.
[9:02am] It was the third time. Third time this week that he walked into the huge library under the House of Wind. Several priestesses would gime him surprised looks. Sure the knew him, some even met, however Cassian never was a frequent guest there. Usually accompaned by Rhysand or Azriel and with purpose.
But for the past few weeks he'd come here more than usual, sit in one of the booths and pretend to read a book. Yes, pretend because everyone around him knew that he wasn't paying any attention to it. Cassian might have hold it but his eyes and whole attention was on witch on the other side of the room. She was too focused to even realize someone was looking. Surrounded by old magic books she brought from home to finnish her task the best she could.
That was few days ago, but since the new week started there was no sign of the woman. So Cassian would around the library like a lost puppy, looking for something that he didn't even know. Pretending to be busy just to leave the library in the end.
And today was no different. As the man was about to walk out of the library but one of the priestesses stopped him.
"She went back to her home lands.", Clotho's writting was on the paper. Cassian just looked around as if checking if someone noticed this also. He was about to say something but another note appeared: "She'll be back in two weeks."
"I'm sorry. It's ridiculous.", Cassian montioned around him. At first he wanted to play like he didn't know what she was talking, but then realized it's pointless. Why would he suddenly show up at the library multiple times a week after years of avoiding it? "I don't even know what I'm doing."
"Whatever you're trying, I would suggest to hurry up. Word is that next week she will finish patching up the safety spell around Velaris and won't comeback probably for the next few years."
Cassian tried everything to not show sadness on his face. He nodded quickly, thanked Clotho and left. Next time he sees her it will be different. Or at least he hoped.
[6:28pm] The field was still lit up from sun going down. She was in the middle of it with books and talismans around. Cassian was close behind, ready to to intervene at any moment. Man's eyes were on the witch with her every move. He watched as woman was complately focused on her task. She was whispering words in unknown to him language with eyes closed.
It wasn't the first time Cassian watched her doing location spell. However everytime she did it, or in fact any time of spell, he was nervous. Illyrian always made sure that it was the last exception. He knew that the woman he loved was powerfull witch, but it wasn't for free. Cassian could see the tiredness from particular spells, sometimes the magic was so powerfull she'd even lost conscience.
The wind picked up and probably everybody in the next few miles could feel the magic through the air. Woman started casting the spell a little louder, trying to stand still. Cassian was still trying to giver her space, let her do it. He knew she's capable of finnishing it, but at what cost?
That's when he saw blood trail down her neck. Cassian slowly walked around the witch, trying not to distrub her. And then he saw it: blood from both ears and nose. He quickly touched her shoulders trying to get her out of the trans. Called her name multiple times. He put his palms on both sides of witch's face, touching and stroking her cheeks with thumbs.
And then everything stopped. The whole field was quiet again. And she looked up with her tired eyes. "The stone is that way.", she said pointing behind Cassian. But he just brought her to his chest.
"I hate it so much. Everytime.", he said with eyes close and just held her. "I swear to the Mother it's the last time you're doing it.", Cassian added and she just laughed.
[2:04am] Cassian walked into their shared bedroom. He tried to shut the door as quietly as it was possible, even if at the end it did make some noise. Man closed his eyes for a second and cursed, turning around. But when he saw her still sleeping, he smiled at the sight. She was laying in their huge bed, buried under three blankets, one hand above her head sound asleep.
Cassian walked to the bed and moved covers. He lied down, doing everything not to wake her up and then put the blankets on both of them. Cassian kissed woman's head lightly and put his arm around her shoulders, bringing her closer. She put an arm around his torso and Cassian could feel all of her muscles relax.
