jungle out there
▬ ` ☾ ✦ ☽ » The color spreading across her face didn’t go unnoticed, but the half breed turned a blind eye to it because it was normal to feel a brief admiration for the one who rescued the helpless. Sooner or later, it would pass; and for her sake, he hoped it was sooner. While the wings on his back were slowly vanishing, his red eyes darted left and right to examine the area they had landed in. The last thing he wanted was to be ambushed. After ensuring that there weren’t any predators lying about, he focused his attention back on the young girl.
The smile on his face became tender when she got up on her feet without any trouble whatsoever. “That’s a relief. You are able to stand and move about.” If she had been badly injured, then it would make surviving in this forest a little more difficult. “There’s no need to thank me. I couldn’t just ignore someone who needed my help. Koinzell, and your name is?”
❝ Maggie! -- I mean... My name's Maggie. ❞ Simply a parroting of her original statement, but seeming overeager wouldn't put her in a position to gain mutual interest. People assume a lot of things, and she just wanted Koinzell to hold her in high regard. She swears she can feel her skin morphing into wood, but she just goes on, trying to act coquettish and cute. Dedication.
❝ Really, there's plenty of need to thank you... Koinzell. ❞ Now that they stand face to face, the view of his appearance is enhanced greatly, and she's even further enchanted by his smile, his eyes...
And for not wanting to jump the gun, the last thing she wanted was for this to be a save-the-girl-and-be-on-your-way-into-the-sunset type endeavor. With her kindred ablaze in the foreground, and dangers looming in the background, perhaps acting the damsel in distress for now would be favorable.
❝ Um, Koinzell, could I, uh... Could I stay with you for a while? Until I find my partner, at least... I kind of want to avoid getting stuck in a fire again. ❞ And she emits a halfhearted laugh, for the baited hook.
