Bold of you to go where no man has gone before
#op is literally seeking out new life and new civilizations but go off i guess (x)
These are the voyages of the starship enterprise, in this essay I will
When students try to get me to agree to something they want
When students think essays are informal writing
When I teach a new book for the first time
It’s like:
Me, a CRT, half the time
Me: I don’t have the energy for this
Someone: For what?
Me: *gestures vaguely*
My life
Keep your chin up.
When students keep repeating jokes
Thanks to teaching I don't find memes funny anymore. The kids repeat them to death.
“But Obama did a bad thing too!”
Agreed.Â
Now that I’ve acknowledged that, can we please stop the bad thing currently happening that doesn’t require a time machine to fix?
It's literally the mindset I have to teach kids to stop having at school.
"Tom, put your phone away and do your work"
"BUT BUT MISS!! JIMMY ISNT WORKING EITHER!"
"well I'll talk to him, but that's my job, not yours. It doesn't take away from what you are doing. Put your phone away and do your work"
I'm talking about 12 year olds. Usually they stop as they get older because they know it's not an excuse.
What's your excuse, Donald?
When a student explains why they don’t want to do any work
There is some good in this world, Mister Frodo, and it is worth fighting for.
Fundamentalist fearmongering video: This dungeon “master” is given complete control and “players” must do whatever dark things are demanded of them.
Real DM: Please, just cross the river. You’ve all tried to seduce the catfish and it didn’t work. I’m begging you.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
There is nothing more frustrating than being just barely too tired to do a thing.Â
I’d almost prefer being way too tired to do a thing. It’s so much easier to put it out of my mind then.Â
I can say to myself, “Welp, can’t do that.” And then rest.
But when that energy is just a tiny bit out of reach my brain enters this obnoxious feedback loop.
“Hey Brain, can I do the thing?” “No.” “Maybe if I push myself.” “Didn’t work.” “Maybe I can do half of the thing.” “Nope.” “Pleeease. I wanna do the thing!” “Okay.” “Really?” “No.” “You’re kinda mean, Brain.” “Remember that embarrassing thing you did in 4th grade?” “Not cool, man.” “Remember how you wrote anti-climatic instead of anticlimactic for most of your adult life?” “SO EVIL!” “Maybe later it will anti-rain.” “STOP.” “Watch out for those anti-tornadoes.” “LET ME DO THE THING!” “No.”
This is me lately and I don't know how to fix it.
This is amazing.
