New MPHFPC AU idea â because I can't just have a quiet Sunday chilling on the couch with music and coffee â and shocker it's not Fugh, at least not prominently; second shocker â at least for me, it's Perikoo, which I have never had an idea for before, but was inspired by The House in the Cerulean Sea.
Picture it: Cairnholm, September 3rd, 1940 where the weather is always balmy and sunny and everything is perfect.
Except it isn't. For Ymbrine Alma Peregrine life in her loop is far from perfect. She has wards with uncontrollable peculiarities who have a worrying habit of dying on her despite her best efforts, a recent injury hampering her mobility, and she's caught the attention of the Ymbrine Council in a bad way.
Enter Isabel Cuckoo: Ymbrine and auditor. The last thing she wants is to leave her desk job for an assignment to a remote island loop, but that's what comes of being good at what you do.
Now she just has to make it through two months of rural living while being an impartial judge to the goings on in the Cairnholm loop. Then report her findings to the Council.
What she doesn't count on is island life agreeing with her, the children she's supposed to consider re-homing worming their way into her heart, and falling head over heals for the ymbrine whose capabilities she's supposed to be questioning.
Things are about to get messy. What's an Ymbrine to do?
How did Caul manage to convince the children that he was Alma? The pictures clearly show the difference between the two peregrines, and the male looks distinct from the female. We know for sure that the children had seen Alma in her bird form, that moment was in the first book, and it definitely wasnât the first time.
I couldnât find any confirmation that, in his bird form, Caul resembles a female peregrine. If thatâs the case, then I apologize!!
But for now, I think the real peculiarity of those children lies in their incredibly LOW intelligence â because to not recognize the woman youâve lived side by side with for decades, youâd need a degree in blindness.
Alma, you didnât deserve children with NEGATIVE intelligence.
Even Miss Wren, I think, said in the book, âSomethingâs wrong with your headmistress,â and maybe she actually meant that it was a MALE peregrine, but just didnât figure it out right away?
