Hello, my name is Nadin. I’m from Gaza. I’m a graphic design graduate, a wife—and now, a mother.
I finished my design studies just before the war began. I had dreams of starting a small studio, of creating art that told stories. I used to think about colors and fonts and the future.
Then, the war came. And the future became something we tried to hold onto, moment by moment.
On October 22, 2023, I learned I was pregnant when a missile destroyed my husband’s family home, killing 25 members—his mother, siblings, nieces and nephews—entire branches of our family in seconds.
We were displaced twice. Everything was gone—home, safety, routine, rest.
A few weeks later, I gave birth to our daughter. There was no crib, no celebration—not even stillness. But she arrived, quietly and beautifully. In her eyes I saw something I hadn’t felt in weeks: life that still wanted to grow.
Now, our days are shaped by decisions that could dismantle the future we are trying to build together.
Today, Israel’s government is discussing plans for a full military occupation of the Gaza Strip, including Gaza City and southern regions. The stated aim: to eliminate Hamas and later hand governing control to allied Arab forces—not Israel—but with no clear path to peace or normalcy.
The humanitarian fallout is devastating. More than 61,000 Palestinians have died in this war; hunger and malnutrition are rising sharply. Hospitals in north Gaza have shut down, and 193 people have now died of starvation, nearly half of them children.
Aid remains blocked, water is scarce, and many risk dying of hunger or disease long before future promises arrive.
We Don’t Know What Comes Next
There’s no clear path forward—only uncertainty for our daughter’s life and our ability to survive another day.

So a few days ago, I received an ask that definitely triggered some emotions. I debated answering it or not, but overall, I decided to delete it and call it a day. However, I do wanna speak just a bit on anon culture and how people address and talk to authors on this app.
Before I start, this is in no way, shape, or form intended as hate toward that anon. They could simply be a blunt kind of person and meant no harm. Either way, I've noticed this pattern on other blogs, with some anons giving backhanded critiques and passive aggressive reviews.
First of all, I'd like to gently remind everyone that the authors on this app are doing this entirely for FREE. No one is getting paid for the amount of hours and the emotions they pour into a fic that you get read in just a few minutes. I understand that everyone wants to see themselves represented in x reader fics, but if you're not finding any fics that suit your personality from a specific author, there are plenty of options to get those fics aside from telling the author that the writing they work hard on is "cringe" or that you don't like their stuff by giving them a rating they didn't ask for. You can always send in a request with that type of character as the description! Authors would be more than happy to receive it. You can also just scroll through the tag you're looking for until you find an author who does deliver what you want. There are ways to get what you're looking for without being rude (unintentionally or otherwise) to authors who get nothing but occasional nice comments in return for their work. That's actually a great way to drive the author away from writing at all, depending on their personality type.
Secondly, I'm by no means saying that no one can give me constructive criticism! I adore getting any kind of feedback on my writing. That's why I made my feedback form! What I don't love, though, are backhanded "compliments" that are really just a way to tear apart my writing without making the sender feel bad about themselves. It's so incredibly easy to be kind, guys. Just word things more gently, or take a moment and think about how what you're saying might sound to someone else.
Lastly, to assume anything based on how or what an author writes is truly wild to me. Please, do not go into an author's inbox telling them that they need to work on their self-esteem just because they write a shy reader. You're free to think what you think, but don't make assumptions about someone and throw it at them in their inbox. It's very off-putting, and it's not something someone would do in real life.
Just keep in mind that authors are real humans with real emotions, and just because we choose to spend what little free time we have writing silly little fics and posting them for others to read, doesn't mean that you can treat us any differently than you'd treat someone you know in real life.
Once again, this is not meant as hate in any way! I'm just saying to please be mindful about how you speak to others! We're all living life for the first time, alright? Nothing is ever that deep, especially not made-up stories about fictional characters and some entity that will never truly exist in any world, real or fake (Y/N as an entity).

Because sometimes, in between the flashing lights and the roar of the crowd, you’d find your eyes wandering—to a face that wasn’t supposed to hold your attention.
Riki.
You didn’t know when it started. Maybe it was during that joint rehearsal, when ENHYPEN had been practicing for a collab stage and you and the girls were in the next studio. You’d seen him through the glass wall—focused, serious, the way he moved sharper than anyone else. Then he’d noticed you watching, and for a heartbeat, he’d smiled—small and soft, like a quiet secret.
You’d pretended to look away, but your reflection in the mirror gave you away.
Since then, it had been hard not to notice him.
Every time the two groups crossed paths at music shows, you caught glimpses of him—hair tucked under a cap, headphones slung around his neck, sometimes laughing with Jungwon or lost in his phone. You always bowed first. He always bowed back, a polite, gentle smile that lasted just a second too long.
And that second was enough to make your heart do strange things.
You told yourself it was just admiration.
You’d grown up watching idols—people who danced like they were born for the stage, who smiled like the world didn’t weigh them down. You wanted to be like that too: confident, fearless, steady.
But Riki… he carried something different. A quiet kind of light. He wasn’t always loud or center-stage, but he shone anyway—through small things. The way he treated staff kindly, how he encouraged his members with a pat on the back, the way he laughed when he thought no one was watching.
He was one year younger, but sometimes he felt older. Wiser, even.
You’d never told anyone, not even your members. They probably thought you were just friendly. When they’d tease—“You keep glancing at ENHYPEN’s side again, unnie!”—you’d laugh and deny it, your cheeks heating up.
Maybe you were too good at pretending.
A few months later, your group was scheduled to perform at an award show. You were nervous—your first big event of the year, the kind of stage where every second mattered.
Backstage was chaos: stylists rushing, cameras flashing, idols moving in and out of rooms. You were adjusting your mic when you heard someone say your name.
“Y/N.”
You turned and there he was. Riki, in his black performance outfit, hair styled perfectly, that same soft smile tugging at his lips.
“Oh—Riki sunbaenim,” you said quickly, bowing.
He chuckled. “You don’t have to call me that.”
You bit back a laugh. “It feels weird not to.”
“Then I’ll call you” he teased lightly. “Fair?”
You nodded, trying to ignore how warm your face felt.
There was a beat of silence, filled by the hum of distant music and the rustle of stage curtains. He shifted a little, eyes darting to your hand where you were nervously fiddling with your mic.
“You’re going to do great,” he said suddenly. “I saw your rehearsal earlier.”
You blinked. “You did?”
He nodded, grin softening. “You looked really happy up there.”
And just like that, your heart betrayed you again.
You wanted to say something clever, something that didn’t make it obvious how his words lingered like sunlight. But all that came out was a quiet, “Thank you, Riki.”
He nodded, and before you could say anything else, his manager called him away. You watched him disappear down the hallway, feeling that strange mix of flutter and ache again.
Admiration, you told yourself. Just admiration.
Weeks passed. Promotions ended, new ones began, and life moved in fast cycles of rehearsals, practice rooms, and interviews. But sometimes, during quiet moments—waiting for your vocal turn, sipping coffee in the HYBE lounge—you’d see him again.
Always from afar.
Once, you caught him sitting alone in the cafeteria, earphones in, sketching something in a notebook. You didn’t know he liked to draw. Another time, you found one of his dance practice videos trending online, and you couldn’t stop watching. The comments called him a “stage monster.” You smiled at that.
They weren’t wrong.
You saved the video—not on your main account, of course. On your private one. The one no one knew existed. Not even your members.
It wasn’t that you wanted to hide your admiration. It was just easier this way—to keep the line clear between Y/N the idol and Y/N the girl who smiled a little too wide whenever Riki passed by.
The next time you saw him was during a variety shoot. ENHYPEN and your group were filming for a holiday special. You weren’t supposed to be nervous—it was a lighthearted episode—but your heart wouldn’t listen.
During breaks, your members sat in a cluster, chatting and giggling, while you tried not to glance at the other side of the room where Riki was. Of course, that failed miserably.
He was goofing off with Sunoo, laughing over something on a tablet. His laughter was so unrestrained, so genuine, that you couldn’t help smiling too.
Then—he looked up.

For a heartbeat, everything around you blurred—the lights, the chatter, even the cameras. He smiled, small and warm, like a quiet hello meant only for you.
You smiled back before you could stop yourself.
“Y/N, what are you looking at?” Yunah asked, following your gaze.
“N-Nothing,” you stammered, grabbing your water bottle way too quickly. “Just zoning out.”
She smirked. “Uh-huh. Sure.”
You elbowed her gently, but the heat on your face gave you away.
When the show wrapped, you were walking down the hallway with your members when you heard someone call out.
“Y/N!”
You turned again—Riki, jogging toward you, hair messy now from filming. He stopped a few feet away, slightly breathless. “You dropped this earlier.”
It was your mic charm—the one shaped like a little star. You blinked, surprised. “Oh! Thank you, I didn’t even notice.”
He handed it to you, smiling shyly. “Would’ve been a shame to lose it. It suits you.”
“Thanks,” you said softly, fingers brushing his for a second.
He stepped back, nodding. “See you around, Y/N.”
You watched him leave, the faint scent of his cologne lingering. When your members turned to look at you, grinning like they’d just witnessed a K-drama scene, you could only laugh and cover your face.
You didn’t know what to call this feeling. It wasn’t a crush—at least, not the kind you could admit out loud. It was more like admiration laced with warmth, curiosity tangled with something gentle and secret.
You both lived in a world built on spotlights and distance, where emotions were meant to be subtle, quiet, hidden between smiles.
But every now and then, when you stood on opposite sides of a stage, you’d catch his eyes across the lights—and for that brief, stolen second, it felt like the world stopped pretending.
Months later, during an award show rehearsal, your groups were assigned near each other. The hall was loud—music blasting, staff shouting directions—but somehow, amid all the noise, you felt calm.
Because when you turned, he was there again—just a few rows away. He waved when he noticed you.
You smiled and waved back.

When you finally turned off the music and sat down, catching your breath, he saw a glimpse of your smile in the mirror. You reached for your phone, scrolling, humming quietly to yourself. The sight made his heart ache in a way he couldn’t explain.
“Get a grip,” he muttered under his breath, forcing himself to walk away.
Later that evening, all of HYBE was buzzing. The artists lounge was crowded after rehearsals—trainees, idols, stylists. ILLIT was sitting at one corner, laughing over bubble tea. ENHYPEN was across the room, but Riki’s eyes found you instantly.
You looked tired but happy, your hair tied up loosely, a small bandage peeking from your wrist where you’d probably practiced too hard. He wanted to walk over, to tell you to rest, to remind you to eat properly—but he couldn’t.
So he just smiled quietly when you laughed at something Yunah said.
Sunoo smirked. “You think we don’t notice? Every time ILLIT’s on screen, your face lights up.”
Niki turned red instantly, looking away. “I—I just like their performances.”
“Sure,” Sunoo teased. “Especially the one with her in it.”
Niki grabbed his drink and muttered, “Shut up,” but the smile tugging at his lips gave him away.
When the year-end music shows came around, both groups were scheduled to perform on the same stage again. Backstage was a blur of staff, lights, and excitement. Niki stood near the wings, waiting for his cue. You passed by, dressed in white and silver, hair shining under the lights.
“Hey, Riki,” you said, smiling as you walked past. “Good luck out there.”
He froze for half a second, heart thundering. “you too,” he managed, but you were already being whisked away by your manager.
He stood there, watching you disappear toward the stage, the echo of your voice still in his head.
When the lights dimmed and the music began, he watched from the side, hands in his pockets, eyes fixed only on you. The crowd screamed, the lights danced—but for him, it was quiet. Just you, glowing under the spotlight, doing what you loved.
He smiled softly to himself. He didn’t need you to know, not yet. Admiring you from afar was enough—for now.
Because in this world of cameras and chaos, stolen moments and secrets were all he could afford.
And if that meant loving you quietly
from behind the stage
from behind the applause—then Riki was okay with that.

You were standing near the vending machines, your back pressed lightly against the cool wall as you chatted with Nanami. He was telling you something, something dry and serious, as always— but you were nodding along, genuinely interested.
Gojo, however, was not impressed.
From across the yard, he stood with his hands in his pockets, long legs stretching as he leaned lazily against a tree. His blindfold couldn’t hide the way he was staring. Anyone else would’ve thought he was just daydreaming, but Shoko, who happened to pass by, raised an eyebrow.
“You’re glaring holes into the back of Nanami’s head,” she muttered, lighting her cigarette.
Gojo scoffed dramatically. “I don’t glare. I’m far too handsome for something so… aggressive.”
Shoko gave him a look that screamed you’re hopeless and walked away, leaving him to stew.
Nanami was explaining a mission he had just returned from, his voice calm and precise. You were listening intently, laughing softly when he mentioned how Gojo had swooped in at the last second to “help.”
“Typical Gojo,” you said, shaking your head with a smile.
Nanami allowed the faintest smirk. “Indeed.”
And that was the moment Gojo had enough.
Suddenly, an arm slung over your shoulder, startling you.
“Y/N-chaaaan~,” Gojo sang, leaning down until his face was dangerously close to yours, his lips brushing your temple. “What are you two talking about without me? Planning to run away together?”
You rolled your eyes. “Gojo, don’t be dramatic. We were just talking about the last mission.”
Nanami sighed. “Gojo, you’re interrupting.”
