Purported purpose: "to protect children from being exposed to explicit material in the classroom".

How it's sold in the press: "Ban strippers and porn from classrooms!"

Actual text of the bill: Expands the meaning of "sexually explicit content" to include the words "or involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism".

Not and. Or. Meaning "involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism" is in and of itself enough to be classified as sexually explicit.

Actual result: Illegal to mention the existence of trans people or admit to being trans in a classroom under threat of being prosecuted as a child sex offender.

Like, I understand the sentiment but 9 times out of 10 I hear this sort of stuff from people who do not include indigenous rights in their activism, and rather depend on violent slogans to rid themselves of responsibility to their community, as if they’d prefer to have a pissing contest over who can hate America the most instead of, like… work on restoring land rights to Native Americans or engage with their real life communities.

The American government is a genocidal machine built upon the deaths of millions of Black and Brown people, both in America and oversees, but white people on tumblr would rather joke about burning it all to the ground instead of talk to the people whose land it belongs to and actively work on involving them in their activism.

Like, I don’t talk too much about my politics here, but the landback movement is my main point of activism (not just in America, but in every country across the world) and unfortunately, this tankie-led website always gets suspiciously quiet whenever indigenous people in their own country want to talk about restoring their land, because it doesn’t really fit into their (originally white European) idea of destroying everything from the ground up and turning it into some communist utopia.

Like, I also don’t think you care much about people oversees either, you just kinda want an outlet for your violent fantasies.

We're officially licensed for Let's Read Homestuck!

Heya! We got an ask about this due to some recent ongoings, and wanted to reassure anybody who is concerned:

Several months ago, we were contacted by FRAF (Fruity Rumpus Asshole Factory, an officially licensed fanwork collective) if we wanted to be officially licensed for Let's Read Homestuck, and we said yes! That means, as of a few months ago, we're officially have a license to post our dub, and are no longer existing in the nebulous copyright murkiness of potentiality for the series getting taken down at any time (which, to be clear, would be absolutely within Andrew Hussie's and FRS's purview if they wanted to, it being their IP.)

To preemptively answer a few questions you may have:

1. We're not an "official" dub. It's still a fan project. This is mostly so we could theoretically monetize the project going forward, and officially covers us in terms of copyright issues. If it means anything, we're still pretty much the same as always!

2. We may start running ads on LRHS at some point. No immediate plans currently, but it's an option.

3. We may have a merch store? To be determined.

4. We have a page on the FRAF now, and some extra visibility! Neat! It's pretty bare bones, but we might add some stuff there as well.

I also don't want anybody to think that this will suddenly boost our productivity and cause us to suddenly start making videos every couple of weeks again. The immediate material changes to our channel and organization is fairly minimal. But if anything does change, we'll of course let y'all know.

So don't worry, we're not going anywhere. ❤️

not to kinda doxx myself but i work here and was there the day it happened. we were told to "return to normal operations" less than 24 hours later and all of the posts that were sent to our internal notif system refused to acknowledge that a death had happened at all, they were just referring to it as shit like "an incident." upper management's response to the whole thing has been absolutely disgusting.

Please don't work there. The money is shit, the work hours are long and terrible, the warehouses are way too hot and deathly in summer. Please. No matter how poor you are, you are worth more than that. You are human and you deserve to be treated as such.
