Notes: It's been FOREVER (you can refresh your memory here), I am so so sorry, but I have returned! I come back with some Angst, some Drama, and dare I say some Character Development??? I've missed writing so much and I am so happy to be back in their world. I know it's not winter anymore but let's just pretend! I love you all and I am so happy to be back!
As always, I am not a professional writer and all of this is a work of fiction and is strictly for fun. Enjoy!
When you wake up in the morning your entire body hurts, your emotions deciding to take a toll on you physically as well. You can tell you were tense in your sleep, not having slept well during the night anyway. The hot shower does very little to soothe the deep ache in your body, somehow feeling like it's causing it to settle deeper within you. You take a while before deciding to emerge from your room, choosing to indulge in the fireplace you had yet to use. You find yourself getting lost in the flames, your brain running a mile a minute yet simultaneously feeling like it has shut off.
You had a weird air wash over you after your blow up with Lewis the night before. A weird feeling of normalcy, a reminder that this is what Christmas is actually supposed to feel like. Breakdowns and screaming around the holidays had never been a stranger to you, especially recently. Your most recent relationship being the best proof of that.
By the time you finally make it downstairs the house is once again far too loud, but the excitement of the previous day does not hang in the air like it did when everyone was getting ready for brunch.
“There’s no way I’m going to get a ham this close to the holiday! I thought you got it when you went to the store before everyone got here.” Vanessa wails, yelling at your brother when you enter the kitchen.
“What the hell is going on?” You mumble, half to yourself and half hoping for an answer.
“Apparently V is missing a bunch of stuff to make Christmas Eve dinner.” Lewis grumbles from his seat at the island, his head in his hands.
“Ahh, I see.” You say, surprised he even responded to you, but judging by his state you're not sure he was even aware he was speaking to you.
You listen as Vanessa continues her meltdown, her grocery list building by the minute. You decided to make yourself as scarce as possible, to avoid both her and Lewis for as much of the day as you can. You grab your coffee and make your way into the den, momentarily considering running back up to your room and just locking yourself away there for good. You choose to be polite and remain downstairs, listening to the tantrum in the distance. It lasts for what feels like hours, your father joining you in silence, flicking the TV on to try to drown out the wails. You can hear Lewis and Dylan trying to barter with Vanessa, telling her that we would be able to make do with the copious amount of stuff already stocking the shelves but she isn’t accepting the answer. There was no chance of logic being applied to the situation at this point. The kitchen finally falls quiet by the afternoon and you can’t help but wonder if they’ve finally come up with a solution or if V has just lost all energy. By the look on Lewis’ face when he steps into the living room, you assume it’s the latter. He looks far more exhausted than you’ve ever seen, he has bags under his eyes and his shoulders look too heavy, you also can’t help but notice that his beard looks scruffier than usual. He plops down on one of the couches nearby, pulling his phone out as he runs a hand down his face.
“So what's the verdict?” Your dad asks him, evidently trying to keep his voice light so as to not stress Lewis out further.
Lewis lets out a deep sigh, “Dylan is on the phone with the grocery store in town to see what they have left but it’s not sounding great, I’m gonna try to see if I can find a store closer to the city that might have something they can deliver. We’ll see.” He sounds defeated and you almost feel bad for him. You wouldn’t want to be having to deal with Vanessa's tantrum up close like he was.
“Well why don’t we call Tom and see if they can make a stop at the grocery store before they get back, see what they can find.” Your dad suggests, making you suddenly realize you hadn’t seen your mother or Vanessa's parents all day, conveniently having avoided the meltdown.
“V doesn’t want to bother them, she feels like asking them is a burden. Trust me, we suggested it.” Lewis says flatly, evidently having the same rational idea as your father.
“You let me call my wife and get it all sorted, then you’re not the bad guy.” Your dad offers with a wink, patting Lewis on the knee before standing up to go find his phone, not waiting for Lewis to argue back.
Once your father leaves the room you can feel an awkwardness settle between you and Lewis. Unspoken recognition of your spat from the night before. As much as you want to avoid him, neither of you make a move to leave the room, Lewis looking too exhausted to even consider picking his body up from its place on the couch.
“Erm,” You awkwardly clear your throat, not enjoying the silence, “How much is she missing?”
“More shit than she’s gonna find in a ski town grocery store two days before fucking Christmas.” Lewis grumbles, his gaze staying on the ceiling with his head tilted back.
“Lily said they will stop in town and see what they can get, gonna go have Dylan send her Vanessa's list.” Your dad proudly announces as he walks back into the room, headed straight for the kitchen where Dylan and Vanessa must still be.
“Thanks man, be careful in there.” Lewis says, very little teasing to be heard in his voice, truly warning your father.
“I’ll try to be sneaky about it.” Your dad says seriously, not wanting to deal with the wrath.
“I’m gonna go see if any of the stores near the city have any delivery slots open still, just in case.” Lewis says abruptly, quickly getting up and leaving the room like he’s afraid of being left alone with you again.
You decide to remain in your spot by the fire, allowing them to deal with the drama. Too many of your holidays have been spent mediating other people's dramatics and you were plenty ready to be done with it. Whether it be someone being upset with themselves over something or being upset with someone else, there had very rarely been a holiday in your life that did not at some point include someone's tears or yelling, very frequently your own. You sat in silence, the warm fire warming your face as you watched the snow fall out the large window. The quiet room is a contrast to the vocal memories flickering through your head. You could still hear your moms exasperated shrill voice, complaining either about your Christmas Eve dress or Christmas morning breakfast, something was always off. You could hear your dad yelling at your brother for breaking a toy, could see the way his face got red when he ruined Santa for you because you were cranky at the Christmas Eve party. They had mellowed as you got older, becoming seemingly new people by the time you reached your twenties and sometimes it seems like they’ve forgotten those parts about all your family holidays.
The day passes by slowly, your body glued to your seat as the men tiptoe around the house, doing their very best to avoid another blow up from Vanessa. You had overheard Lewis mention to your father that there were no deliveries available from the city and all of you were just praying that her parents would come home with enough to suffice. When the front door finally opened you could feel the tension in the air, the sound of Lewis and Dylans voices cutting off abruptly, probably holding their breath for what was to come.
“Oh thank god, thank you so much for stopping!” Vanessa's voice squeals as she runs to meet her saviours in the doorway.
“Well, I wouldn’t get too excited yet.” Tom says, his voice sounding like he’s preparing to let down a small child, and from her behavior today you can’t help but see it as fitting.
“We got what we could sweetie, but it’s not a big store and they were pretty picked over. The storm only made it worse.” You hear your mom start to explain sympathetically.
“What do you mean? How bad is it?” Vanessa begins, evidently getting worked up again.
You hadn’t realized how still you had been sitting, listening intently, until Lewis appeared in the doorway. He looked tense, preparing himself for the worst once again. His sudden presence startled you but you tried to keep you attention on the mess that was about to occur as Vanessa and the parents made their way into the kitchen.
“Well we couldn’t find a ham and there really weren’t many other options.” Your mom tells her, the sound of canned goods hitting the marble countertop the only other sound in the house.
“You guys got pork chops? Seriously? For Christmas Dinner?” Vanessa shrieks for the millionth time that day. You see Lewis flinch out of the corner of your eye.
“Well sweetie, it was honestly that or a can of spam.” Tom sighs, evidently trying to stay patient.
“All that matters is that we’ll all be having a lovely meal together, right?” Dylan tries to reason.
“Yeah, sure, lovely.” Vanessa bitterly laughs, you can practically hear her eyes roll to the back of her head.
“Fuck this, I can not sit through this again.” You mutter to yourself, standing from your seat for the first time that day and making your way towards the entryway, this catches Lewis’ attention.
You don’t even notice that he has trailed after you as you grab your coat from the closet, on a mission to get out of the house and to a store far away with simple hopes of some peace and quiet.
“Yo, where are you going?” He speaks up, carefully watching your movements as you grab your boots.
“I can’t with this anymore.” You huff, making a general gesture towards the shrill complaints coming from the kitchen.
“What, so you’re just bailing?” He scoffs. The sound makes you want to smack him, your head whipping in his direction.
“No Lewis,” You snap, “I’m going to try to save the fucking princess.”
“What do you-” He looks rather shocked at your response but before he can get his question out you are marching toward the kitchen.
“Hey, V, give me the list and I’ll see what I can do.” You call out over the bickering, catching everyone's attention.
“Y/N, what are you talking about?” Lewis finally gets his question out, having followed you after your outburst.
“I’m gonna just drive into the city to the actual supermarket, might not be perfect still but at least we can say we tried.” Your answer comes out harsher than intended, throwing your arms out to the side in pure exasperation over the whole day. Just as you look back toward your family in the kitchen you can’t help but notice a look of concern on Lewis’ face, you can only assume he’s not sure Vanessa will be able to take another shopping trip fail.
“It’s a long drive, why don’t we call it a day.” Dylan argues immediately, concern washing his features as well.
“I was thinking I would go in the morning anyway.” Lewis says, dismissing both your heroic move and your escape.
“Oh that’s so sweet of you.” Beatrice gushes, ignoring your offer altogether.
“Thank you Lewis.” Vanessa says thoughtfully, the first calm thing you’ve heard leave her mouth all day.
“Well the longer the store is open tonight, the more opportunity they have to sell out of what we need, right? We’re already behind so let's not make it any worse.” You say the words casually with a shrug but silently pray that they land in Vanessa's anxiety just where you need. You should feel bad, attempting to toy with her emotions like that, but you really need the escape from the house. You know you have her the second you see her face contort in thought, the slight panic settling that maybe you’re right. Maybe there is one ham left in the city and if you don’t go tonight, Christmas will truly be ruined.
“I mean, Dyl’s right, it is getting late. Are you sure you don’t mind?” She asks sheepishly.
“Not at all,” You assure her quickly, “Just text me the list and I’ll get everything I can.”
“Thank you, you’re a god send.” She says with a small smile, running over to wrap her arms around you like you truly were saving her life.
“If it has to be tonight I’ll go, send me the list V.” Lewis pipes up, still unrelenting.
“Lewis, it’s fine, really, I want to.” You say cheerfully, sending an annoyed look in only his direction as you make your way back to the entryway.
“Y/N, I’m serious, the roads are still a mess out there.” He continues to argue, following hastily behind you.
“I learned how to drive in the snow before I even had my license, nothing new.” You grumble, not looking at him as you locate your wallet and make sure you have the list on your phone from Vanessa.
“At least let me take you.” He persists, sounding strangely panicked.
You choose to ignore him, not having any interest in being trapped in a car with him. You grab your keys and finally make your way out the door, happy to finally have a moment to yourself on the horizon. It’s when you hear the front door slam and him yell out your name that you finally turn around, your annoyance reaching its peak.
“You can’t be serious.” You groan, taking in the sight before you. He’s standing there with no jacket and his boots not even laced, looking strangely out of breath for a professional athlete.
“Just give me a minute and I’ll drive you.” He quickly pleads with you.
“Jesus christ! I’m more than capable of driving myself, you don’t need to try to steal this from me. You’re not the only person who’s allowed to save the day.” You huff, very nearly yelling at him now that you’re outdoors and somewhat away from everyone else.
“That’s not it.” He quickly shakes his head, “Like I said, the roads are still a mess, it’s a long drive and it’s gonna get dark soon.”
“Yeah it’s a long drive and I think we can both agree that I would really rather not spend that much time trapped in a car with you.” You say harshly.
He lets out a deep sigh, finally seeming to realize he can’t convince you, he concedes, “Fine. at least take my car.”
You roll your eyes yet again, “I have a car.”
“Yeah, a shitty rental sedan with front wheel drive and summer tires on it. Please just take my car.” This is the closest you’ve ever heard him to begging and it’s almost surprising you, “It’s got snows, it’s all wheel drive, it’s heavy, you’ll at least be safer, please. We’d all feel better.” He continues in his persuasion and you hate that it’s working.
You look at the large and sturdy G-Wagon parked next to your tiny sedan and know that he’s right, hate that he’s right, you would be safer in his car. You decide to compromise, letting out a huff, “Fine, if it’ll make it so I can leave.”
He blows out a deep breath before turning to go grab his keys. When he returns he has a slight look of contentment on his face but he still seems unusually tense. He mutters a quiet “Be safe.” as he hands you the keys and you almost question if you even heard him right but decide to let it go.
It feels wrong to be driving his car, it’s too expensive, it’s too him, but you do feel safe and confident on the road and for that you are grateful. Lewis was right about the roads being a mess and you find yourself silently thanking him for the use of his car every time you go through a ravine of slush that would have nearly beached your poor little rental, not that you would ever admit it to him though. Much to your annoyance, he stays prevalent in your thoughts for most of your drive, you choose to blame the car. You’re surrounded by the smell of his cologne that seems to linger everywhere he’s been, a sweatshirt of his tossed carelessly in the back seat, even his charger, it would be impossible not to think about it. The one thing you keep circling back to is why he cared so much that you at the very least take his car to the store. It doesn’t make sense to you that it was bothering him so much, the man barely seemed to be able to tolerate you and here he was offering up his car that was worth more than you made in a year.
The drive took longer than anticipated due to the roads but you finally did make it to the store safely. Shocked to see just how busy it was, not that you should have been, most people were probably in the same boat as you. You could only pray that there was enough to put together something that Vanessa would deem acceptable. You grabbed a cart, pulling off your jacket and reaching for your phone, ready to tackle whatever it was that Vanessa had sent your way. When you opened your messages you saw the photo of the grocery list from V, but much to your surprise, there sat a text from Lewis.
LH: Please let us know when you get there
You blinked down at it, rather shocked he’d even bothered to check in, but then you remembered you were driving his very expensive car, figuring that is probably what he was worried about.
Just walked in
You typed and deleted “don’t worry your car is fine” twice before deciding to leave it out, trying to be the bigger person. He responded immediately with a thumbs up, making you roll your eyes involuntarily. As much as you wanted to draw out your shopping trip as much as possible, you also knew it was getting late and you could only leave your family dealing with Vanessa's stress for so long without feeling a tad bit guilty. You moved through the store as quickly as you could with all of the people milling about with no lists and no idea where to go.You could feel relief washing over your body with each item you ticked off the list, somethings you had to substitute but nothing that should send Vanessa into a full blown panic again. By the time you were checking out you had a small sense of dread creeping up the back of your neck knowing that you were getting ready to head back to the circus that is your family but also felt a wash of pride, hopeful that you had quelled some of the lunacy.
After loading up your groceries into the back of the car you sat to let it warm up a bit, staring down at your phone in your hands. You had been battling with sending Lewis a text for longer than you would like to admit before finally deciding it was the decent thing to do.
Getting ready to head back now
His response once again came almost immediately, two texts in rapid succession.
LH: Thank you for letting me know
LH: Success?
I’d say so, got 95% of her list
LH: Owe you big time
LH: Be safe
The strange warmth in his simple words was bizarre to you, making you almost question if someone else was texting you from his phone. It stuck with you in a lingering way as you embarked on your journey, stupid thoughts of brief moments of kindness from him swirling your thoughts. It had always seemed to you that, to everyone other than you, Lewis was one of the kindest men on earth. He was charming, charismatic, charitable, and all around just warm. He offered the world a genuine and disarming smile with shiny eyes that seemed like they were unwrapping your soul. What you never understood was why when that same eyes met yours, they seemed to be judging your soul, dissecting it for interrogation and power rather than understanding. That same smile he offered the world always felt hollow and forced when directed at you, felt cold, like he was looking through you. But every once in a while you caught glimpses of the man that everyone else seemed to know, like his brief care for you being cold in the snow, but it never lasted long. And you hated just how much those little moments clung to you, how you let them wrap around you like a little fantasy of what it might be like if he didn’t seemingly hate you. Let yourself wonder what it would feel like to be bathed in that warmth as frequently as so many people are.
You didn’t even realize just how long you had been thinking about Lewis and the conundrum that he is to you until the soft voice of the GPS was guiding you onto the road where your brother lived. You let out a sigh, happy that you were almost home, much to your surprise. You slowed down a bit, the dirt road full of small wash outs with no street lamps in sight. You can see the minutes counting down out of the corner of your eye and you feel yourself relaxing, not having realized just how tense you had been the whole drive home.
~WARNING: POSSIBLY GRAPHIC CONTENT AHEAD~
It happens in a split second, you barely even have time to think when a large deer comes bounding out of the woods on the other side of the road, running directly into the hood of your (Lewis’) car. You scream as you slam on the brakes, the force of the deer sending you veering into the ditch beside you. Your body lurches forward with the force of the car skidding into the ditch, the seatbelt digging harshly into your collarbone. The car is still running as you sit in your seat shaking, tears pricking at your eyes as you fumble to reach your phone that has flown out of its spot in the cupholder beside you. When your trembling fingers finally clamp around the device you reach for your doorhandle, thinking it may be safer to get out of the car now than have it possibly catch fire while you’re still freaking out inside. Your door creaks open, needing some force as you push, the door hinges having been evidently damaged from the impact. The second your feet hit the road you’re clicking Dylan's contact, squatting down on the side of the road as you look at the poor dead deer lying in front of you, you feel like you’re going to be sick. It thankfully only takes a moment for your brother to pick up.
“Y/N? Everything good?” He asks, his voice sounding groggy like you’ve just woken him up.
“Dyl…” You whimper out, the tears coming full force the second you hear his voice.
“Whoa, whoa, Y/N what's going on? Are you okay?” He is alert now and you can hear rustling in the background as if he’s getting himself out of bed.
“A deer, it came out of absolutely nowhere, I was so close to making it home,” You choke out in between sobs, “and now Lewis’ car is stuck in a fucking ditch and I have a massive dead deer in the middle of the road and I don’t know what to do.”
“Hey, sshh, its okay. Are you okay?” He asks, you can hear the tension in his voice as he tries to stay calm for you.
“Yeah, I uh, I think so, I just don’t know what to do. He already fucking hates me enough as is.” Your tears pick up even further as you try to answer Dylan.
“Hey, nobody hates you. You said you were almost home, yeah? I’ll be right down to get you, we’ll figure everything else out together.” The confidence in your older brother's voice makes you cry even harder, grateful that you have him.
“I was like two minutes away.” You sniffle.
“Okay, you want to stay on the phone while I come down?” He asks and you can hear other voices in the background now and the embarrassment begins to seep into your bones.
“No it’s fine, just come down please.” You say.
“Getting in the truck right now, be right there.” He tells you and you can hear two car doors slam in the background, making you want to melt into the snow beneath you.
It feels like a small eternity that you stay there on the ground, squatting in the snow as you sob, staring at the dead deer and listening to the rumble of Lewis’ still running car behind you, but you know it’s only a few minutes. When you see the headlights of your brothers truck at the end of his driveway it really settles in just how close you were to getting home. When his truck stops right in front of you, your stomach drops, watching as Lewis hops out of the passenger side. Your brother makes it to you first, running towards you the second he spots you.
“Hey, are you okay? Come here.” He’s frantically questioning you as he pulls you to stand, squeezing you tight to his chest.
“I’m okay.” You whimper, your sobs calming slightly. Over his shoulder you notice Lewis standing in the road, staring at the deer, looking as if he truly might be sick, you’re not even sure if he’s taken in the damage to his car yet. Dylan holds you out in front of him, looking over you once again for any major injuries as you tell him again that you’re okay. You glance in Lewis’ direction, seeing that he is now taking in the damage to the car but his attention keeps drifting back toward the dead deer, seemingly more bothered by that than anything else.
“Alright, you go get in the truck and I’ll check out the car, don’t worry, we’ll get everything taken care of.” Dylan says, squeezing your arms. When he moves around you to assess the car you finally lock eyes with Lewis, your bottom lip immediately starting to quiver again but out of guilt this time. His expression is unreadable as he makes his way over to you.
“Lewis, I’m so so sorry, it came out of nowhere and-” You begin to apologize but you're cut short when he pulls you into his chest, hard. You’re stunned to silence when you feel his arms squeeze around you and his lips press to the top of your head.
“Stop,” He says, his voice firm but not harsh, “are you sure you are absolutely okay?” There’s an unmistakable warmth and care in his tone as he asks, and something that you could dare label as fear but you’re not quite sure.
“Yes.” You manage to croak out as you feel his arms tighten around you and his hand stroking your back.
“Okay, that’s all I need to know right now.” You’re unsure how to react to the gentleness in his voice, unsure how to feel about the absolute comfort that is radiating through your body at the feeling of his strong arms wrapped around you.
When he finally lets you go, he doesn’t let you go far but you notice his gaze drifting over your head to his car in the ditch, causing you to start up with your apologies yet again.
“I truly am so so sorry Lewis, I promise I will pay for whatever the damages are, it might take me a while but I swear I will-” You start to ramble again until you feel his warm hand on the side of your neck, looking up to see his eyes boring down into yours.
“Hey, it’s still running, I’ve got insurance for a reason. Wasn’t your fault. I’m just glad you were driving this instead of that shitty little sedan. Could have been a whole lot worse, I’m glad you’re okay.” His earnest tone catches you even further off guard and you can feel a weird sensation in your stomach as those brown eyes finally flood you with the same warmth you had been thinking of most of your drive home. You don’t even have time to formulate a response before your brother is calling Lewis over.
“So yeah if you can get it out of the ditch, I’ll drag the deer off to the other side and call the game warden to take care of it in the morning.’ You hear Dylan explain to Lewis who is nodding as he stares at the caved in front panel of his expensive car, tufts of fur sticking out of the seams.
You stand in the middle of the road feeling helpless, hating that you note the coldness left behind from where Lewis’ warmth had flooded you just a few moments ago. You watch as Lewis hops into the drivers seat of his car, barely even noting the loud creak the door makes as he swings it open. Dylan walks toward you, guiding you toward the truck and tells you to wait in the passenger seat to keep warm while they get the road cleaned up. He grabs a pair of work gloves from his back seat before approaching the deer. You watch him from your seat for a moment, feeling queasy when you see the blood stained snow begin to appear as he drags the poor animal across the road, quickly averting your gaze to where Lewis is gently easing his G-Wagon out of the ditch. You’re impressed by how easy he makes it look, knowing you would have spun out immediately and probably made it worse. It only takes a few moments before your brother is throwing the bloodied gloves in the bed of his truck and hopping into the driver's seat, asking once again if you’re okay.
“I’m fine but why did you have to bring him? He’s just gonna hate me even more now.” You groan like a child, flopping your head toward your brother who laughs at you.
“Well first of all, he was gonna find out eventually,” He chuckles, “and second he doesn’t hate you, he was immediately worried when I told him what happened.”
“Yeah, because I was driving his bajillion dollar car, of course he was worried.” You argue, not quite ready to accept that Lewis may have actually been concerned about your well being.
Your brother just shakes his head, “First thing out of his mouth was, ‘Is Y/N okay?’”
~END OF ACCIDENT~
You don’t respond to that, just settle down into your seat as your brother backs his truck up to give Lewis room to head up the driveway. At the top of the hill, your brother parks next to Lewis’ injured Wagon. The house looks dark other than the few outside lights the men had left on in their haste to get down to you. You notice that Lewis has already hopped out of his car and is loading up his arms with shopping bags from the backseat, seeming totally unphased by the state of his hood, not that he can do anything about it right then you suppose. When you round the side of the truck your brother is ushering you away toward the garage, telling you the house is unlocked and to go inside and get warm, that he and Lewis will grab the groceries. You feel bad, after everything they had already done to help and the damage that you’ve caused but you don’t argue, not having the energy for much at that moment.
The house is completely silent when you step inside, the only thing illuminating your entry is the dim under cabinet lighting coming from the kitchen. You take a moment to enjoy the subtle peace before you hear the guys trundling in behind you, causing you to reach for the nearest light switch. They’re bickering slightly, all light hearted, but you can’t help but laugh when you see the cause is them getting stuck in the door together, both of them having taken more bags than necessary to avoid multiple trips. You giggle to yourself as you watch Lewis force his way through the door, one of the bags swinging behind him as your brother mutters some curse about overtaking that makes Lewis playfully scoff. You can’t help but be impressed by their good nature despite the evening you all just had, you can still feel the shakiness in your hands and the stinging of your eyes. You follow behind them to where they’re setting bags down on the counter, reaching to start unbagging things.
“Hey, we got this. Grab some water and go sit down.” Lewis is closer than expected when you turn, reaching for the can in your hand with a gentle tone.
“It’s fine, there’s a lot of stuff, I’m-” You begin to argue but are cut off.
“Y/N, go sit.” His voice is firmer now, not harsh but certain.
You just nod, swallowing as you let him take the can from your hand and turn to grab a water from the fridge. You make your way into the smaller living room that is open off the dining room, not nearly as fancy as the den but you don’t need the opulence, just somewhere quiet and cozy. You let out a deep breath as you sink into the plush couch, only flicking on a soft lamp on the side table. You can faintly hear the guys talking in the kitchen, the slight rustle of bags and the thud of cabinets being closed but it’s still peaceful in comparison to everything you’ve been through over the course of the day. You let your head lean back against the cushion behind you, your eyes falling shut to ease the lingering sting, you know you will have some work cut out for you in the morning so people aren’t asking too many questions when they arrive for Christmas Eve.
“Hey you,” Dylan’s gentle voice startles you, “Lewis is just finishing up in the kitchen but I’m gonna go let V know that everything is alright and you had success at the grocery store, alright?”
You just nod, offering him a tired smile.
“I’ll see you in the morning, try to get some rest.” He says, stepping forward to squeeze your shoulder and kiss the top of your head.
You grab his hand before he can move too far away, “Thank you Dyl.”
“Always Y/N, don’t gotta mention it. I love you.” He whispers, squeezing your hand before heading off to find Vanessa whom you’re surprised hadn’t appeared the moment she saw the truck lights in the driveway.
It’s not long before Lewis arrives in the entryway, you assume also to say goodnight, but much to your surprise he walks to the corner of the room where a small bar cart sits. You watch him carefully as he pours himself a glass of bourbon before looking over his shoulder just enough to meet your eye, his eyebrow raised in a silent question.
“Yeah.” You breathe out, more than happy to have a drink before you head to bed.
You’re not sure but you think you see the faintest bit of a smirk playing on his lips as he pours your drink. He stays silent as he walks toward you, handing you your glass and plopping down on the couch next to you with a sigh of his own.
“Didn’t realize just how much shit Vanessa needed, my god.” He mumbles, his head leaning back on the cushion much like you had been.
You can’t help but breathe out a laugh, because he was right, it had not been a particularly short shopping list, “Yeah, but at least I think I got everything.”
“Let’s hope you did because I’m not sure we can fit anything else in the kitchen.” He says with his own light laugh, his head lulling to the side to look at you with a small smile.
You hold his eye for just a moment, offering him a small smile before taking a sip of your drink and staring ahead at the wall. You can feel his eyes on you still as you fall into a shockingly comfortable silence that eases something in your brain. You haven’t felt this peaceful in a while, despite the tragedies of the evening.
“I’m sorry, by the way.” Lewis suddenly says, his voice rough.
You turn your head to look at him, shocked, “You’re sorry? Lewis, I totaled your car tonight!” You say through an incredulous laugh.
He chuckles softly, “You most definitely didn’t total it,” he shakes his head before his voice comes out softer, sincere, “but I mean for last night. I was a dick. And well, the other morning too.” He lets out a deep sigh.
“I mean, I haven’t been the best either.” You admit quietly into your glass before finishing the last of it.
Lewis takes note of the empty glass, taking it from your hand and standing before you can even set it down. He takes both your glasses back to the cart, refilling them as he speaks again, “I’ll admit, your sheer annoyance with being here has been pissing me off.”
“Really? You’ve been doing a great job at hiding it.” You tease him lightly, making him roll his eyes as he walks back to you but you can see the faintest smile creep onto his lips as he takes his seat next to you again, both now with refilled drinks.
“In all honesty, your annoyance every time you’re around is what pisses me off.” He continues, his elbows resting on his knees as he looks straight ahead, “The fact that you have the opportunity to be around all the people that love you for the holidays, yet treat it like a prison sentence, it’s just…” He trails off slightly, before looking at you, “My niece and nephew were supposed to come stay with me for Christmas, well I mean my sister and brother in law too but it was really the kids I was excited about, but it fell through. I’m ridiculously busy so I don’t get to see them enough and I swear they're a foot taller every time I do.” He chuckles.
You nod, realizing he was missing out on what he felt you had here.
“You’ve gotta know you’re lucky to have this, to have the ability to see these people so often. I would kill to be able to spend as much time with my family as these guys spend with each other, and they want you there too. It irks me every time I talk to V and she tells me about an anniversary party or an easter dinner that everyone got together for, everyone but you. You have the chance to be there but you constantly avoid it and then when they do nail you down, you seem like you would rather be anywhere else in the world. You’re gonna miss out on things, on milestones, for all you know by next Christmas Dyl and V could have a kid.”
You feel a moment of annoyance creep in when his voice becomes lectury again towards the end of his speech but let it slide, choosing to contemplate his words for a moment. Trying to find your own to really help him understand what he’s been seeing from the outside.
“Ya know, last night, after our screaming match, I had a realization.” You start, still not quite sure how to explain this to him, “I was realizing that it felt totally normal to be screamed at or be screaming at someone around the holidays. It’s been a norm for me, since I was a kid, yelling has been a holiday special.” You pause for a moment, looking across at him. You see his brow furrow in concentration but don’t miss the way his eyes also seem to soften.
“I’ve never seen that.” He says softly.
“Well when I was a kid, it was my parents, but they’ve either gotten better at hiding it or they’ve mellowed out with age. Then as I got older it was the people I chose, always managed to find myself around someone that would have something negative to say around the holidays.” You admit the last part quietly.
“I’m sorry I added myself to that list.” He says gently, his gaze locked on the side of your face.
“A shocking apology to hear from a man who hates me.” You let out a dry chuckle, not sure if you’re trying to deflect, lighten the mood, or just being honest.
“Do you really think I hate you?” He asks, his voice almost timid, almost hurt.
“Uh, well yeah, you’ve always seemed to at the very least have a very significant dislike of me.” You say, like it’s obvious.
“I don’t dislike you at all Y/N, certainly never hated you.” He says, causing you to turn to face him.
“Then I would truly hate to see how you treat people that you genuinely dislike.” You tell him honestly.
He presses his lips together like he’s deep in thought before he speaks again, “I’m sorry if I haven’t always been the warmest, it’s never been because I don’t like you.”
His words are vague but you decide not to pester him any further, surprised enough that you two are even having this conversation in the first place.
“Can I ask? If the yelling stopped, why do you always avoid family like the plague?” He asks after a beat of silence, circling back to your earlier conversation.
“I don’t,” You immediately try to defend yourself but fall short when he sends you a look that immediately calls your bullshit, “Okay, fine, I didn’t used to but for a while when I first moved to LA, I was seeing this guy, and at first he would come to stuff with me and it was okay.” You pause, looking away from him as you prepare to explain a little bit more.
He hums while you gather yourself, “I remember him. Xander, right?”
You nod, looking down at your glass.
“Never liked him.” He says simply before you can continue.
“Well maybe you’re a better judge of character than I give you credit for,” You laugh to yourself, “because I wish someone would have told me that. He started getting annoyed when I would want to travel to family things, got upset when I would ask him to go with me and then even more upset when I would try to go on my own. He had a few outbursts in front of the family about it so I just stopped trying, it was embarrassing. Anyway yeah, then it just became the norm that I wouldn’t go and the longer I waited the more questions everyone had and yeah.” You finish your thought quickly, trying not to think too much about the way Xander would explode about you inconveniencing him.
“I did tell you.” Lewis says.
“What?” You look at him confused.
“You said you wished someone would have told you that he sucked, and I did. It was at Dylans launch party, you’d been crying and I remember telling you that you could do a whole lot better than that piece of shit.” His voice comes out rough and you can only blink at him, because he had.
Lewis had found you out on the balcony of your brother's party that you were trying so hard not to ruin. Xander had been quietly seething about how boring the event was and how there had been no point in flying all the way to Colorado for a stupid engineering firm launch party, he had gotten nasty with his comments and you were trying too hard to keep it together. Vanessa had noticed that you didn’t seem like yourself and told you to get some air and just as the first tears had fallen Lewis had stepped out onto the balcony. His tone had carried that normal judgement you were used to from Lewis, cocky and all knowing, telling you that Xander was embarrassing you and you could do better. At the time you had taken it as a judgement on you, but as you look at Lewis’ warm brown eyes now you start to realize he was trying to console you in his own fucked up way.
“You made me feel like shit when you told me that.” You confess quietly.
“I apparently need to work on my communication with you Y/N, I’m sorry.” He says, his voice warm as he reaches out to place a large hand on your forearm that is now draped across the back of the couch.
“You may not be quite as cocky and aloof a bastard as I have always thought you were.” You laugh softly, hoping to cut some of the tension.
“Well I may actually be a bit aloof because I didn’t even know you thought that.” He laughs with you.
You send him a playful look, “Lewis, you woudln’t even eat my breakfast that saved the day. Cocky, aloof, bastard.” You make your points as you count on your fingers.
He laughs loudly now, “Hun, you made bacon and eggs!”
“Isn’t it your off season? I’m sure you can work off a piece of bacon after I cooked it on an open fire for you!” Your own laugh growing now.
“Y/N, I’ve been vegan for like a decade, I don’t think I can work off whatever that would have done to me.” His eyes are crinkling at the corners now, his teeth on display with a boyish grin and a laughter that folds into your ribs.
You can’t contain your own laughter as you hear that, surely someone had to have told you that at some point. And then the reality of the evening hits you like a freight train and you immediately feel like a criminal.
“Oh my god, Lewis,” You gasp, your laughter falling short as you slap your hand over your mouth and your eyes go wide, “the deer, I’m so sorry, you looked disgusted and I thought it was just… Oh my god, I didn’t know.”
His own laughter dies down but a small smile stays on his face, “Sweetie, you have nothing to apologize for, it was an accident, it’s fine.” You feel his hand squeeze your arm as he reassures you, you hadn’t even realized he had left it there.
“You won’t even eat meat and I’m slaughtering animals with your car.” You groan, hiding your face in your shoulder.
“I’ll survive, just glad you’re okay.” He says, his voice sincere.
“I’m still really sorry.” You say, peeking out from where you’ve hidden yourself.
“Promise I won’t hold it against you,” He assures you with a soft smile, “but speaking of your wild night, we should probably get to bed. Pretty sure it’s gonna be a mad house here in the morning.”
“Ugh, don’t remind me.” You groan, earning a soft chuckle from him.
“C’mon,” He laughs, taking your now empty glass from your hand and standing up, “we gotta be on our A game tomorrow, pretty sure all the Aunties are gonna want to hear about Y/Ns wild ride.”
“Oh shut up.” You grumble as you get to your feet, unable to hide the small smile that tugs at your lips.
After saying your goodnights to Lewis you find yourself sitting in the middle of your bed with a strangely calm mind. For the first time in a long time there is no lingering thought of dread about the possibility of running into him when you wake up for breakfast or feeling like you need to avoid him at all costs. The only thing that your mind is struggling to comprehend is how on earth did you end up having such a heartfelt conversation with the man you swore up and down hated you from the day he met you?
2025 has been a hell of a time for me. So much has happened in my personal life that it has been hard to even wrap my head around any of it. After a lot of very difficult times in which I have not been making space for myself, I have come to realize I was doing everyone more harm than good. I need to take care of myself in order to take care of everyone around me. So I have been doing lots of reflection and looking at the little things that I have been missing over this last year and one of those things has been writing. I have missed creating little worlds to get lost in, I have missed interacting with the lovely people who take the time to indulge in my little worlds, I have missed being able to let my mind wander and my thoughts run wild for pages on end. That being said, I will be coming back, slowly but surely. I am aware that it's august and the season for Cabin Fever has slightly passed us by, but I would hate for their story to get lost in the muddiness that has been my past year. I am finishing up Pt 4 right now and hope to have it up for you guys sometime tonight.
Peace and love to you all! I've missed you all dearly
hey admin how are you doing everything okay you've been gone for a while?
Thank you for checking love, so sorry I’ve been gone for so long 💕
Life update for y’all: My mother was rushed to the hospital near new years and as the only family member nearby I have been taking care of her and haven’t had a moment to think about writing or anything on here. I apologize for my unexpected hiatus but I am coming up on some personal time and I can’t wait to get back to our story, I’m looking forward to writing even if it’s not the holiday season anymore. Thank you all for your patience, I can’t wait to be back. Love you all!

Summary: He's your Sister in Laws best friend, you shouldn't even have to deal with him. Always seeming like a cocky arrogant prick, and now here he is crashing your family Christmas. Can you handle a full week of Lewis Hamilton? Or might he not actually be as bad as he seems?
Notes: A bit more drama for you guys tonight but this is nothing compared to what we've got coming up, oopsie lol. Hoping to get the next part out quickly so it kinda aligns with the holidays in real time! I would also formally like to start an important conversation about why the hell this man only seems to own winter jackets the color of a highlighter (im sure it's for safety when snowboarding but pls). I love you all and I'm so happy you guys are enjoying our angsty little Christmas fic!
As always, I am not a professional writer and all of this is a work of fiction and is strictly for fun. Enjoy!
**italics are a jump back in time**
The moment you make your way downstairs the next morning you are ready to turn and run back up to your room. You can hear everyone in the kitchen already, much to your surprise. Their voices are much louder than you would have wanted but you carry on, aware that the only way you’re getting coffee is by showing your face in there.
“Well good morning sleepy head! I was wondering when you’d show up.” Your dad greets you warmly.
“Hey I was up long before any of you yesterday.” You argue as he pulls you into a side hug.
“I do believe I was up before you.” Lewis pipes up with a smirk.
“Yeah yeah, whatever,” You grumble, trying to conceal the roll of your eyes but when you meet Lewis’ gaze you know you’ve failed, “I need coffee, lots of it.”
Tom laughs from over at the coffee bar where he seems to be making himself some sort of fancy espresso, “Coming right up.”
You thank him, taking a seat next to your brother at the island, watching the chaos ensuing on the other side of the kitchen. Your mother, Beatrice, and Vanessa are in what seems to be party planning mode. They’re rummaging through cupboards and running back and forth to the fridge, Vanessa has a notebook out creating some sort of list, Beatrice is loudly reading some recipe from her phone.
“How long has this been going on?” You ask the men at the counter, trying to keep your voice low.
“About twenty minutes, they’ve probably got another twenty in them.” Lewis says, picking up his coffee and watching the scene himself.
You let out a deep breath, already exhausted by the amount of energy flowing through the room, praying you don’t somehow get sucked into it as well.
“Y/N, thank goodness you’re up!” Vanessa says excitedly, finally noticing your presence on one of her trips around the kitchen.
“Good Morning.” You respond softly, trying not to allow any chance of being roped into whatever is going on.
“So,” Vanessa's voice comes out chipper and matter of fact as she puts her palms down on the counter, evidently ready to give you the full run down, “I felt so bad yesterday, I had so many things planned for a fancy breakfast and the weather just had to ruin it all so I really want to make up for all of it today. Thank you again for pulling that off yesterday, I was so grateful, but I want a big fancy family brunch, we haven't had one in so so long and I’ve been thinking about it since I started planning this trip. And I don’t want it to be our Christmas morning brunch, I want it to be its own special moment, ya know?”
You can tell that your eyebrows have gotten higher on your forehead with every word that she has said, speaking faster than you could ever comprehend at the early hour. You hear your brother take a deep breath from next to you as Lewis chuckles lowly.
“I’m sure it will be wonderful, very talented ladies doing the cooking.” Tom tells his daughter before setting a delicious smelling cup of coffee down in front of you, “Here you go Y/N.”
“Thank you, it smells fantastic.” You say sincerely, happily wrapping your chilly hands around the warm cup.
“It better, I brought my own beans and everything. That should be the best cup of coffee you’ve had in your life.” He tells you proudly.
“It was a phenomenal cup of coffee.” Lewis says with an amused smile on his face, one that Tom seems to read as more genuine than you think it really is.
“Very good, very very good.” Dylan is quickly agreeing.
“Now listen,” Vanessa’s voice is quick to grab your attention again, “you did such an amazing job yesterday with breakfast and then helping with all the storm cleanup,”
Before she can finish Lewis lets out a sound halfway between a laugh and a scoff, cutting her off, “I don’t know if I would call whatever she was doing yesterday helping.” His voice is muffled by the rim of his coffee mug but you can hear the cheek to his voice, more teasing than the jabby tone it usually carries for you, you assume it's because of the current company.
You open your mouth to defend yourself but your brother is joining in quickly, “I mean she made a valiant effort but I do think I have to agree with Lewis on this one.” He’s laughing as he pinches at your side.
You try to find the right words to argue your defense but you realize you really can’t, thinking back to your ways of helping the day before.
You had started strong, initially heading out after breakfast to try to clean up all the branches that had been blown into the yard, that lasted for only twenty minutes before Lewis and Dylan were getting the plow and skidoo out of the garage. Once the big toys were out you had no more interest in your handheld rake and shovel. You had gone over to inspect the new fun equipment but were quickly shooed away by both Lewis and your brother, both claiming you were going to get in the way and possibly end up hurting yourself. You had accepted defeat, heading back to your sad pile of branches before once again getting quite distracted by the fun sound of the engine on the skidoo. You had done your best to act as if you were still working but you had ended up watching Lewis zip around the yard for much longer than you would have liked to admit. There was something about his level of both control and chaos behind the handlebars that scratched your brain just right and it irked you and brought you immense satisfaction all at once. Once your brother had gotten into the swing of plowing, Lewis following him down the hill to keep Vanessa's mind at ease, you had gotten back to your sad attempt at branch removal, by the time they made it back up to the house you were collecting your armful.
“Y/N you do know that it’s been a full hour and you don’t even have enough sticks to make a mouse a campfire, right?” Lewis had taunted you when he saw you walking across the driveway as he removed his goggles, your brother laughing as he hopped out of the plow.
“Oh fuck off, at least I was doing something, you were just joyriding.” You said sassily, quickly changing course so you weren’t walking directly past him.
“I,” He started, his voice long and drawn out to dramatically make his point, “was keeping your brother safe. The buddy system is very important, you know.”
“A knight in shining,” You started to say but before you could get the whole sentence out you were falling flat on your ass, your abysmal stick pile flying everywhere.
“Woah Y/N, shit you alright?” Your brother was quick to react, leaving his open truck door to run over to you.
“You’ve gotta be kidding.” Lewis huffed out, also quickly making his way over to you.
They had both been there within an instant, squatting next to you to make sure you were alright. Your brother was handling you like fine china even though he could tell you were okay, Lewis however was immediately giving you shit.
“You do realize we’ve been here for like twelve hours and this is the second time you’ve fallen in front of me, right?” The tone of his voice was unamused despite offering you his hand to help pull you up.
“I did not fall last night.” You had tried to defend yourself as he got you to your feet, your brother still giving you a worried look like he thought you had secretly broken something.
“Because I caught you.” He had quickly pointed out.
“Whatever.” You grumbled as you bent down to collect your stick pile, admittedly leaving a good half of them behind before once again heading toward your brother's brush pile off by the shed. Before you could even make it half way, a very well aimed snowball was colliding with your ass cheek, once again knocking the sticks out of your arms.
“I am going to fucking kill you.’ You had exclaimed loudly, quickly gathering a large armload of snow to form into your own snowball before turning around and whipping it in their direction. You ended up hitting your brother, immediately feeling a little bad because you assumed it had come from Lewis in the first place. Lewis let out a cackle when the snowball hit your brother, evidently pleased that he hadn’t been the one to get in trouble.
“Oh hell no, that was meant for you.” Dylan had said, also laughing but incredibly serious, his own snowball already being packed tightly to whip at Lewis. Much to your pleasure, Dylan was much closer to Lewis and was much stronger than you so you could tell the impact didn’t feel amazing when it finally slapped into his chest.
“I just thought you should put some ice on it after that fall, I was trying to be helpful.” Lewis laughed as he put his arms up to guard himself from any further snowballs being sent his way. You and your brother exchanged a look, both of you loading up again, hurling snow in Lewis’ direction.
He screamed as he turned to run, his snow gear making him much less agile than he would normally be. He had finally found steady footing, his own snowballs being sent in both of your directions, all three of you in a fit of laughter. Somewhere along the line your alliance with your brother had crumbled, his snowballs being sent your way as well, no longer reserved for just Lewis. By the time you finally called truce you had all been absolutely soaked, your stomachs hurting from laughing so hard and your pile of sticks long forgotten. When you made your way back to the house you had found yourself very surprised at how playful and fun that time with Lewis had been but you decided that it must have been a bit of a fluke, knowing it wouldn’t last the rest of the day.
You try to think of a way to argue your defense but you have to admit to yourself that you really can’t, you truthfully didn’t do any actual storm cleanup yesterday.
“It’s the thought that counts, I tried.” You grumble into your mug as the two men laugh.
“Well, either way, you absolutely slayed it with breakfast and putting up with them,” Vanessa gives you a smirk, trying to take away their ammunition, “so I want you to just relax this morning, Moms and I will take care of all things brunch, you just enjoy the pretty scenery and your amazing coffee.”
You smile at her, mouthing a thank you, grateful that you are not expected to be part of the brunch circus that is unfolding in the kitchen before you. Your mother and Beatrice are still frantically figuring out if they have everything for some recipe that they have selected. You sit back, watching as Vanessa returns to her chaos with your mothers, seeming weirdly at home within it. Tom and your father begin loudly discussing just where Tom is sourcing his coffee beans, raising the volume of the kitchen just that much more. You go to turn to your brother, only to find him standing from his seat to rinse out his coffee cup. Lewis is grabbing his phone and eagerly taking a call, leaving the room rapidly. You let out a sigh, choosing to make your way into the den with your coffee, hoping for some level of peace in there. The room is cozy, a fire already going and a light snow falling outside the large windows. You try to settle into one of the plush couches but as you sit there you feel yourself growing more and more aggravated. On one side you can hear your family in the kitchen, all talking loudly about different subjects that don’t even meld together into anything coherent, on the other side you can hear Lewis’ muffled voice on the phone. You can’t actually make out anything that he’s speaking about but the low timbre is enough to be disruptive. You find it hard to believe that in a house of this size you can’t find any silence, yet here you are, you shouldn’t be shocked with it being your family. You decide you can only take so much and come to the conclusion that you would rather be out in the cold and quiet than in here with the chatter. You take your coffee and head off to the foyer to find your winter gear to bundle up, the better idea of just going to your room nowhere to be seen in your head. You get as cozy as possible, grabbing a blanket out of the den before heading back to the kitchen.
“I think I’m just gonna go sit out back for a little while and appreciate the view while I have my coffee.” You awkwardly announce as you make your way to the backdoor, raising your blanket in your hand as you do.
“That sounds absolutely lovely, enjoy yourself!” Beatrice exclaims, overly enthusiastic about your plans.
When you first step out of the house you begin to question your plans, the cold air immediately hitting your face and wrapping you in an unforgiving cocoon, but the moment the door closes behind you, you’re at peace. The door seals your family and their loud chatter away wonderfully, just the gentle howl of the wind and small noises of things falling in the forest left to be heard. You make your way across the covered deck, settling into one of the luxurious outdoor couches overlooking the large backyard and forest. You snuggle as far as possible into your blanket, trying to keep as much of your body heat as possible. You can feel a deep sigh leave your body as you take in your surroundings, admitting to yourself that as much as you hate winter, you do love the beauty of the blanketing of snow. You sit in silence for a while, just sipping your coffee and enjoying the peaceful way the world is waking up, the snow falling gently. It sadly doesn’t take long for your silence to be interrupted, the door opening behind you. You let out a huff when you see who is making their way outdoors.
“Ocupado.” You say sassily as you turn your attention back out to the view in front of you.
Lewis just scoffs, making his way over to sit on one of the couches near you.
“Seriously, I just need some silence. Do you have nowhere else to go?” You groan childishly, seeing him settling into his seat.
“I let you get warm in front of my fire yesterday, I think you can share the silence of your deck with me now.” He says, his voice just as sassy.
You go to argue with him, wanting to tell him that it’s not the same and his fire was in the den, a common area, but you quickly realize that this too is a common area that you have no monopoly over. You decide to bite your tongue, rolling your eyes as he settles deeper into the couch, pulling his phone out. You decide to do the same, feeling awkward staring into the trees now that you have company. It doesn’t take long before the first post from a friend is popping up on your feed. She is back in California, a small party dress on that would have you getting hypothermia here. The post is about a party that you had known would be happening, a fun Christmas get together with a bunch of your friends that you would have loved to have been at, carefree and ridiculous fun. You let out a huff as you scroll through her post, the fomo eating you alive as you do so.
“Thought you wanted silence.” Lewis grumbles from his spot at the sound of your huff, his voice already laced with annoyance.
“So sorry to disturb you, your highness.” You fire back at him sarcastically.
“It’s just sir, I’m a knight, not technically royalty.” He replies, his voice so cocky that it makes you want to smack him, only stopping when you see the slightly teasing smirk on his face.
You roll your eyes again, not even having the energy to come up with something witty to say back to him in the moment.
“Seriously though, what’s got you in such a mood?” He asks, sounding genuinely curious, much to your surprise.
“I’m not in a mood.” You mutter, burrowing further into your blanket, your attention back on your phone.
He lets out a chuckle at your response, “Yeah the huffing and puffing really sells that narrative well.”
“Oh shut up, you know I don’t particularly want to be here, just let it go.” You say quietly, not wanting your family to hear your disdain for your surroundings.
“I know, and me being here probably isn’t helping that, but it seemed like there was something else going on. Thought you saw something that was upsetting you.” He says casually, shrugging like it’s a normal conversation for the two of you to be having.
You’re taken aback by his casual and genuinely curious nature, not being used to anything like this from Lewis. It takes your guard down, quicker than it should. You let out a sigh, deciding, against your better judgement, to confide in him a little bit. You know he could come back with some level of snippy remark but you were prepared for that, maybe he would actually have a normal conversation with you for once.
“Don’t get me wrong, I love my family, but seeing everyone enjoying their lives as adults and doing what they want, where they want, I don’t know, it’s just driving me a bit insane.” You divulge, not getting your point across in quite the way you meant to.
He raises an eyebrow at you, evidently rather confused by what you mean, “I mean, you’re an adult, you spend 99% of the year doing what you want, where you want. What’s the problem?”
You just shake your head, deciding to instead show him the post that caused the initial huff. You watch as his brows furrow while he scrolls through the instagram post you handed him. Quickly his face turns from curious to judgemental. It’s his turn to roll his eyes as he finally hands you your phone back.
“So you’d rather be back in the smog of LA where you can’t even tell it’s Christmas, dressed in a skimpy dress with your friends? You’d prefer that to fresh mountain air, a white Christmas, and your family that loves you?” His tone is belittling as he reads the situation completely incorrectly, his questions coming out more as statements, as if nothing that you say now will change his mind.
Your jaw drops at the accusation, a loud scoff leaving your throat as you snatch your phone back from him, “How dare you, that was not the point I was trying to make.” You begin to argue before he’s cutting you off.
“You see those people all the time Y/N, how often do you see any of your family?” He raises his brow in challenge but doesn’t give you time to formulate a response before he’s carrying on, “We all know you don’t want to be here, just suck it up, a little bit of winter mountain air and family time isn’t going to kill you.” He doesn’t wait for a rebuttal, he just stands from his seat as if he’s just finished reprimanding a child and walks away, back inside.
He leaves you in your seat, silent and fuming but also leaving you feeling a tad guilty. He is correct, you don’t want to be here, but it has nothing to do with you preferring to be out in a skimpy dress in LA, it’s about your freedom. Having the freedom to do as you please and be where you want, something you haven’t had a ton of in your life. You hate that everyone knows that you would prefer to be somewhere else, making you feel as if you’re almost a burden. You hate that Lewis feels that he has the right to make such deep assumptions about you and treat them as fact and you hate even more that he feels he has the right to lecture you based on those assumptions.
You end up staying out on the back deck much longer than you had originally planned, only finally making your way back indoors when Vanessa announces that brunch is served. You do your best to ignore him, not even looking in his direction. Instead you spend most of brunch quizzing Vanessa on things about her brunch that in all honesty you aren’t particularly interested in, but listening to Vanessa explain how he gets her eggs to fluffy is much better than having to even think about dealing with the man sitting at the other end of the table.
It irks you that you can hear him chatting so freely and happily down the table, as if he hadn’t accosted you on the porch mere hours beforehand. You find yourself already making a plan for escape before you’ve even cleared your plate.
Avoiding him throughout the rest of the day ends up being shockingly easy. You take an extra long time getting ready before helping Vanessa and your mom with some last minute gift wrapping. You can’t help but laugh when you see that Vanessa's “last minute stuff” actually appears to be a majority of her gifts, but you don’t complain, knowing it will take up more of your time, and in turn help in your game of avoidance. You can hear Lewis chatting off in the distance, your father quizzing him eagerly on his car collection after hearing he added something new. Lewis gushed with ease, thoroughly entertaining your fathers questions and while it could be considered a nice conversation you felt like it sounded arrogant, flashy.
“Boys and their toys.” Your mom muttered with a laugh, also listening to bits of the conversation, your father now seemingly showing Lewis photos of a car he had back in the nineties.
“Tell me about it, I couldn’t for the life of me get Dylan out of that plow truck when we first bought it and the snow hadn’t even fallen yet.” Vanessa exclaims, shaking her head.
You just laugh as you lean back to stare out the window for a moment, admiring the way the world is beginning to turn blue as the sun goes down. As if he’s noticed it getting dark at the very same moment, Dylan is bursting into the room talking about Christmas lights.
“Get out, we are not finished in here Mr.” Vanessa is quickly squealing, throwing her body in front of the few remaining unwrapped gifts.
“Okay, okay,” Dylan laughs, throwing his hand over his eyes before continuing, “What I was saying is the lights in the forest look like they stayed up through the storm! It’s getting dark so I was hoping we could all take a walk out there, it’ll be beautiful.”
“That sounds nice Dyl, give us just a little time to get ready.” You say softly, eager to see the lights that have your brother so excited.
“Sweet, I’ll go let the guys know.” He says like a little kid, whipping around to go inform them of the new plans.
“He made an absolute wonderland out there, you guys are going to love it.” Vanessa says, already standing up to collect the remaining wrapping paper, shoving things away like she’s now on a time crunch.
You take that as your sign to go change and get ready for a winter walk. When you go to head upstairs you finally cross paths with Lewis who seems to be headed to his own room, you pause for a moment before flicking your gaze away and trying to move past him.
“Joining us on the walk?” He asks, his voice cold, sounding like he’s expectant of a no.
“Uh, yeah, of course.” You waver slightly, caught off guard that he had any words for you at all. You wished your voice had come out stronger, not wanting him to feel like he had any sort of upperhand, that he had gotten under your skin.
He does actually look surprised, his eyebrows twitching up in a certain judgemental look of disbelief before he is once again turning on his heel. He doesn’t say a word, just walks away to his bedroom.
When you make your way back downstairs, everyone is there and waiting. Dylan is animatedly explaining how he set up with power for the lights and how they follow all of the groomed paths in a certain pattern. Once he notices that you’re there he is directing everyone to follow him to the back yard, still explaining his tree lighting process on the way. You can’t help the grimace that leaves your body when you step outside, the temperature having dropped drastically since you were out here earlier. You try to just burrow further into your coat, not wanting to complain after being made so aware of your attitude earlier today.
As you wander the paths you find yourself mesmerized, Vanessa was right about the absolute wonderland of it all. The glittery lights look like stars, spanning higher up trees than you would like to think about your brother being, but regardless they are breathtaking. You find yourself falling away from the group a bit, too caught up in admiring the gorgeous trees and trying to keep as much of your warmth in as possible. Your family carries on walking, unaware of your sudden slow pace, Lewis however seems to notice and slows down himself. So much that you almost trip over him, having been blissfully unaware of his presence.
“You okay?” He asks you when you’re steady on your feet.
“I’m just fine Lewis.” Your voice is as cold as the outdoor air as you avoid looking in his direction.
“Well, from where I’m standing, you’re shaking like a leaf.” His tone has lost its earlier harshness but still carries that bit of arrogance as you catch him smirking at you out of the corner of your eye.
“Just wore the wrong jacket, I’ll be fine.” You argue, keeping your voice short but still pulling your thin jacket tighter. You're mentally cursing yourself for not having worn your puffer.
“Do you want to head back? I’ll walk with you.” His offer catches you off guard, his voice sincere and almost kind as he continues to stare at you, the smirk gone.
“I’m fine,” You say yet again, your voice slightly quieter now, “Dylan worked hard on this, I’ll survive.”
Just as you once again reiterate your argument a gust of wind comes through, picking up the loose snow and blowing it around you sending yet another chill directly down your spine. Lewis evidently notices the cold seeping deeper into your bones, taking it upon himself to make the decision.
“Y/N and I are gonna head back to the house, she’s getting a little too cold, gonna get her something warm, we’ll see you guys in a bit.” He yells ahead to your family against your will.
“Oh, hun, are you okay?” Your mother is immediately concerned.
“I’m fine, I’m not going back.” You start to insist but Lewis is stepping in yet again.
“She’s fine, just wore the wrong jacket. The lights look amazing Dylan, well come see them when she’s warmed up.” Before you can say anything he’s starting to usher you back down the path, Dylan is thanking him and Vanessa is telling you where to find more blankets.
Lewis is guiding you down the path, his body close against your back and his grip firm on your waist as if you don’t know the way. You hate the way he is manhandling you but you have to admit you are relishing in the warmth coming from the proximity. You don’t allow it to go on for too long, wrenching yourself out of his grip once you’re far enough away from your family. You pick up your pace, both in a show of defiance and actually quite wanting to get back to the warmth of the house. You hear him let out a scoff behind you as you throw your little tantrum.
The heat of the house is immediately welcoming, wrapping around you like a hug the moment you open the door. You take a moment to let the heat sink into your bones before even moving to remove your jacket. Lewis stands there watching you for a moment, just shaking his head before taking off his own large puffer.
“What?” You groan, assuming he has a comment to make.
“You know sub zero temps usually require a little more than a flimsy fashion jacket from the mall, right?” His voice is laced with judgement again, the kindness from the forest long gone.
“Oh, would you just fuck off!” You finally properly snap, whipping your head to face him.
““I’m just saying you’re a grown adult and you’re acting like winter is gonna kill you, you can’t even prepare for it” His response is quick, his tone just as snippy as yours, dripping with arrogance.
“I have a fucking parka in my room, I didn’t know how cold it was.” You throw back at him.
“Mmm sure, or you just wanted to look good for the little walk.” He accuses you, his tone condescending.
“Look good for who? I’m in the middle of fucking nowhere!” You fully yell at him, finally done with his jabs.
He ignores the question, his voice raising but not yet actually yelling, “Have you ever considered that maybe it’s good for you to be in the middle of nowhere once in a while?”
“I do not need some asshole who doesn’t even know me giving me fucking life advice, thank you very much.” You snap, no longer yelling but your voice is harsh.
“Well maybe you do because from where I’m standing you would rather be back in LA partying with your friends to post on Instagram than at your brother's beautiful new house with your whole family that loves you. They fucking want you here and you get to fucking see them, stop acting like its pulling fucking teeth for you to be here.” He actually yells this time, momentarily stunning you.
“Why do you even fucking care so much?” You just about scream, praying that your family is still far away from the house. The two of you haven’t even made it out of the foyer yet.
He just stares at you, his eyes hard and his chest heaving slightly. He opens his mouth before quickly snapping it shut, finally letting out a long, deep sigh. “Ya know what, I guess I fucking don’t. Go take a hot shower before you get fucking hypothermia.” He finally mutters harshly as he storms out of the room, his bedroom door slamming shut not long after.
You stand in the foyer, staring down the hallway where he disappeared, still dressed in your winter jacket. You can feel the tears pricking in the back of your eyes, immediately pissing you off that they can be caused by even Lewis. You bite lips, willing the tears to stop, but then you realize, there it is.

Your room is freezing when you wake in the morning, the room eerily silent. You groan, rolling over to grab your phone while trying to keep as much of the comforter over you as possible.
“Fuck.” You mumble to yourself when you see that your phone hasn’t been charging all night, despite being plugged in.
You sit up, looking around the room, reaching over to flick on the lamp beside your bed, nothing. You evidently lost power overnight. You're surprised that in a house this lush there isn’t already a generator going but you suppose someone needs to start it, or it only powers certain things. One thing you know for certain is your room is freezing. You make your way out of bed and over to the fireplace in your room, hoping there is wood nearby to warm you up. You can’t help but let out another groan when you see the electric starter on the gas fireplace, no use if the power is out. You decide to go see if the rest of the house is a little warmer, or if you can at least be miserable with someone else. You rummage through your suitcase to find a warmer set of pajamas, settling on a thick pair of flannels that have kept you warm for nearly a decade. Once you've changed you grab the throw blanket off the back of the nearby chair, wrapping it around you like a cape and decide to make your way down into the house.
The house is completely silent as you wander down the stairs, evident that everyone else is still asleep. It doesn’t surprise you, you haven’t been good at sleeping recently, always waking up much earlier than you would like to. You imagine everyone else stayed up for a while after you disappeared to your room the night before, possibly all nursing a slight hangover this morning with the amount they could drink from your experience. You quietly make your way to the one room you had become familiar with the night before, the den. You stop in your tracks the moment you enter the room, surprised to find Lewis on the couch. He’s got a blanket draped across his legs and a large fire going in the fireplace in front of him. You stand frozen in the doorway for a moment, not sure if you should join him or run back to your room to avoid interaction. You finally decide it's far too cold to let his arrogant attitude keep you from getting a little bit warmer. Before you risk settling into the den alongside him you decide to go in search of a way to possibly make a warm beverage. As you make your way past him and towards the kitchen you mutter out your most polite “good morning” to which you only receive a subtle hum, almost as if he didn’t even know the sound had left his body. You roll your eyes, a constant with him around, finally making your way into the kitchen to rummage. Nothing in the kitchen works and even the hot water heater seems to be electric, the water coming from the pipes being ice cold.
“There’s a kettle on the fire, tea bags and mugs are next to the coffee maker.” Lewis’ voice calls out through the quiet house. You can’t help but wonder for a moment if someone else has woken up and he is directing them instead but as you stand there you hear nothing else. You quickly grab a tea bag and a mug, making your way back to the den and the warmth of the fire as rapidly as possible.
“Thanks.” You say quietly, offering him a small smile.
“Yeah,” He says, his gaze never leaving the fire in front of him, “should be ready in a second.”
“Okay.” You nod, settling on the floor in front of the fire despite the many cush couches and seats available.
The two of you sit in silence much to your pleasure, perfectly content to listen to the crackle of the fire instead of jabs and insults from the man behind you. The sound of him getting up from his seat draws you out of the trance that the soothing fire had put you in. It takes you a moment to realize that he is grabbing the kettle, the sound of water bubbling now coming over the sound of the crackling wood. He wordlessly fills his mug, setting the kettle and pot holder down on the hearth in front of you before moving back to his seat on the couch. You lean forward to grab the kettle, your blanket falling from your shoulders as you do so, exposing you to the still rather chilly air. You can feel his eyes on you as you pour your water and you can’t help but assume he has taken note of your worn out flannel pajamas, having noticed that he was dressed in what appeared to be a brand new Dior sweatsuit. Once you return the kettle to the hearth and adjust your blanket you turn to look at him over your shoulder, a deep smirk evident on his features.
“What?” You ask, your tone already argumentative.
“The second your blanket fell you started grumbling about winter and being cold. Not a fan I take it?” He chuckles.
You hadn’t even realized you were complaining as you made your tea, your cheeks flushing slightly at the realization.
“Moved away from it for a reason.” You mumble, returning your attention to the fire in front of you.
He doesn’t respond, allowing you to both sit in silence and enjoy the warmth and peaceful air before your family swarms the house. Just as you finish your tea you hear him start to move behind you, catching your attention. You glance back to him, seeing him folding up the blanket he had been using.
He notices your attention, turning toward you after he throws the blanket over the couch, “Snow looks like it’s finally stopped, gonna go out and shovel so I can finally get out of your hair.”
You can’t help but roll your eyes at his comment, choosing to move past it, “Dylan has a plow, he’ll be up soon.”
“It’s blocked in the garage, gotta at least shovel our cars out before we can get it out.” He tells you, grabbing his phone from the table and walking away towards his room just off the den.
His habit of leaving the room without a final thought or exit bugs you more than it should, just another thing that makes him seem arrogant and aloof. You decide to just settle in again in front of the fire, more than happy to allow him to dig the plow out of the garage, you figure he’ll appreciate the workout anyway. It doesn’t take long until you hear him reammerge from his room, the sound of snow pants swishing behind you. You focus on the sounds of him putting on his boots in the foyer mixed with the subtle murmurs of people waking up throughout the house, disappointed that your silence has come to an end. Not long after you hear Lewis shut the front door, your dad is appearing in the den, a thick robe over his pajamas.
“Hey Kiddo, how long have you been up?” He asks, his voice pleasantly quiet.
“Maybe an hour or so, honestly not sure.” You say, leaning slightly towards him as he bends down to squeeze your shoulder.
“Power has been out since you got up?” His voice stays soft as he sits down in a chair near you.
You hum, nodding before gesturing to the kettle still sitting in front of the fire, “There might still be some warm water in there if you want to make some tea or something.”
“It’s a nice fire you’ve got going here.” He tells you as he gets up to check the kettle.
“Lewis had it going when I got up.” You admit, unsure why you bothered, probably so it didn’t come up later.
“Where is he?” Your dad asks, wandering into the kitchen to find a mug.
“He just went out to shovel, I guess the plow is blocked in the garage, we’ve gotta move cars or something before we can get it out.” You tell him as he emerges with only a tea bag, stealing your empty cup from the table beside you making you laugh, “Yes, I’m done, thank you for asking.”
Your dad just chuckles, pouring himself a cup of tea, leaving your used bag in the cup, “Well after I get some caffeine in me I’ll head out to help him, there’s a ton of snow out there and it sounded like it was going to be really wet.”
“Dad, no, I’ll go change and we can force Dylan to help when he gets up.” You immediately argue, not wanting to go shovel with Lewis in the slightest but far too aware of your fathers back problems to allow him to shovel after a storm like this.
“I’m not a cripple, Y/N, I take care of our house back home during the winter, I’m perfectly capable of helping out here.” Your fathers voice is stern, his choice of words causing you to cringe.
“I know, I just, I worry about you, I don’t want you to be in pain for the holidays. Lewis is an athlete and Dylan and I are still young enough that we can bounce back. Just stay inside and help keep Tom sane while Beatrice and Vanessa freak out.” You try to reason with him, your voice quieting towards the end of your argument, unaware of who may be awake at this point.
“Fine, but if you guys need any help you let me know. Maybe I can get your brother's generator running, I would be shocked if he didn’t have one with all this.” He concedes, gesturing around to the lavish yet dark house surrounding you.
“Yeah, I was surprised there wasn’t something for the heat at least, seems very unlike Dylan.” You say, still confused by the complete lack of backup power.
Before your father can even respond you hear Vanessa's voice coming down the stairs, shrill and unforgiving for the hour of the morning.
“It’s all out Dylan, the tree in the foyer isn’t even on!” Vanessa's voice is grating, causing you and your father to exchange a look.
“Babe, it’s okay, I’m sure it will be back on soon.” Dylan's voice follows behind her. You can tell he’s only just woken up, not ready for this much drama.
“You put on the kettle for Dylan, I’m gonna go shovel.” You tell your dad with a pat on the shoulder, a teasing yet knowing smirk on your face.
“Sounds more like a whiskey kind of morning for him.” Your dad murmurs, making you laugh as you leave the room.
You can hear Vanessa freaking out in the kitchen, you manage to narrowly escape any interaction and make your way to your room to bundle up to head out to shovel.
Once you step outside you can feel just how much the temperature has dropped from the night before, your nostrils immediately stinging. You burrow your face further into your jacket, grabbing one of the shovels off of the porch and making your way down to the driveway. You notice that Lewis has made good headway so far, the porch and path fully cleared off as well as his car. Much to your surprise when you step around his tall Mercedes, you’re met with him cleaning off your small rental.
“Is somebody dying inside?” Lewis asks when he notices your presence.
“What?” You ask, caught off guard.
“I know you’re not out here for my company Y/N, what's up?” He pries, not looking at you as he finishes removing the snow from your car before throwing the scraper in the back of his car again.
“Uh, I just came out to help.” You tell him, awkwardly holding up your shovel in his direction.
He looks in your direction, his eyebrows slightly raised in a surprised and disbelieving expression, “Okay then.”
He doesn’t say anything else, picking up his shovel from where he’d rested it in the snow bank and continuing to dig out your car. You follow his lead, beginning to chip away at the pile in front of the garage. You feel like you’re barely doing anything as you watch his large shovel fulls fly into the yard, making the snow you’re moving look like a joke.
“Thanks for cleaning off my car.” You say, trying your best to be polite.
He just shrugs, a grunt leaving his chest as he throws a particularly heavy load of snow, “Need to move it anyway.”
You just nod, continuing to shovel in silence. He has your car completely freed from the snow and is onto shoveling out a parking space off to the side by the time that you finish the small patch in front of the garage, you feel like your help is barely needed but you figure it’s better than nothing. Much to your surprise Lewis is the one to break the silence next.
“Is V inside freaking out?” He asks, leaning against his shovel to catch his breath for a moment.
You laugh quietly, nodding, not wanting to say anything that may make him defensive over his friend.
“Yeah, I kinda figured,” He says, returning to moving snow, “she can be like that when things aren’t perfect.”
You just nod, very aware of exactly what he is talking about. Only a few moments pass before you hear his voice again.
“Grab our keys from inside? Mine are in the bowl by the front door.” His question is barely a question, more of a demand but you just nod, figuring he’s doing all of the heavy lifting anyway.
When you step in the front door, Dylan is quick to rush into the entryway, “Hey, I’ll get the plow out, you guys really don’t need to keep shoveling.” His face is apologetic but you can tell he’s stressed.
“It’s alright, we’re just gonna move our cars so you can get the plow out.” You tell him, grabbing the keys from the table.
“Okay, thank you, tell Lewis thank you too. I’ll be out to plow once everything calms down a little bit in here.” He says, pulling you into a hug.
“Take your time, I think we’ll be in soon.” You say as you pull away, squeezing his arm with a sympathetic smile.
Back outside Lewis has successfully cleared out enough space for both of your cars to move to and get the plow out of the garage.
“Which one do you want me to move to?” You ask him, approaching him with his keys out for him.
“I’ve got it, you can go inside.” He says, pushing off from where he had been leaning against his car, taking his keys and waiting for yours.
“It’s fine, I can move a car, Lewis.” You say with a bit of a huff.
“I know Y/N, but I’ve got it.” He says back, annoyance creeping into his voice rapidly.
“Okay, fine, thanks I guess.” You snap, handing him your keys and turning around to head back inside. You hear him let out a small scoff as you walk away.
By the time you make it into the kitchen, a full meltdown is occurring. Vanessa and Beatrice are freaking out to your mother about not being able to make a proper family breakfast and Tom is berating your brother for not having fixed the generator before everyone arrived. Your parents are doing their best to get everyone to calm down, your mom trying to figure out something to make for breakfast while your father attempts to defend Dylan. You stand in the doorway for a moment, taking it all in, very ready to turn and run from it all.
“Holy shit.” His voice is close behind you, so close you can feel the warmth of his body as he approaches the same scene you’re now witnessing. You turn to look at Lewis, momentarily sharing a rare knowing glance.
“Happy fucking holidays.” You say sarcastically, raising your eyebrows before stepping into the kitchen, leaving him to take his own moment before joining the insanity as well.
“Hey Dylan,” You call out loudly, trying to cut through the shrill arguments occurring, “do you think you guys have any cast iron pans around here?”
“Uh, yeah, we do, why?” He stutters briefly, thrown off by the interruption from the argument he’s been having with his father in law.
“Cool, can you grab them for me?” You say calmly, not explaining before turning toward Vanessa, “Think you have eggs and bacon in the fridge?”
“Yeah I did but I’m sure it’s all gone bad now and we can’t exactly cook it.” Her response comes out whiny and you have to take a deep breath.
“The fridge is a big cooler, it’s plenty cold in here and in there, it’s fine.” You try to explain to her, moving to the fridge to grab some ingredients quickly without letting the cold air out.
You spot the eggs and bacon, also grabbing the first bits of fruit that you see, piling everything up on the counter behind you and sending your brother a look.
“Lewis,” You call to him, catching him off guard, not expecting you to speak to him, “can you go make sure the fire is going good? I need it really hot with a good amount of coals.”
He just gives you a look like you have multiple heads before slowly nodding and making his way toward the den. Vanessa still seems to be on the verge of tears as she sits at the kitchen island, evidently having decided that the whole trip is a wash because of this little hiccup. Your brother and father quickly catch on to what is going on in your mind, your dad grabbing a loaf of bread and stacking slices of it in tin foil as your brother begins laying bacon in one of the cast iron pans you made him grab. Once his bacon is all laid out you grab the pan from him and make your way to the den, passing Lewis on the way who once again looks at you like you’re insane. You’re pleasantly surprised by the fire he’s produced when you squat down in front of it, the pan of bacon in one hand as you grab the fire poker with the other. You begin to move the logs around, trying to make a nice bed of coals for your pan before you hear his voice arguing from behind you.
“Hey, you just asked me to make a nice fire and now you’re destroying it, what the hell is this?” He sounds childish, like he’s genuinely frustrated that you’re ruining the admittedly beautiful fire he made.
You shake your head, finally placing the pan of bacon down on the hot coals before standing to face him, “We’re gonna cook like we’re camping so your best friend doesn’t lose her absolute mind. Can you handle that?” Your voice is low, a bite to it caused by him not being able to go with the flow for a moment.
“Jesus, okay captain.” He shoots back sarcastically as you walk back toward the kitchen.
“Okay V, bacon is on the fire, it’s gonna take a minute longer than usual but once that’s going I’ll get some eggs on as well and I think my dad already has the toast ready to go in.” You say, keeping your voice calm as you wrap an arm around your sister in law, “How about we get some fruit cut up to tie us over?”
The hug she wraps you in makes your heart clench, as annoying as her behaviour about the situation is you can feel in her hug that it was genuinely taking a toll on her.
“Thank you, oh my god I love you so much, best bonus sister in the world.” She says, squeezing you tight.
“Thank my dad and Dylan, they’re the ones that made me go camping so much as a kid.” You giggle, squeezing her back while sending both the men a slightly unimpressed look before cracking a smirk. They both knew you were joking, some of your fondest memories were from those camping trips.
“Oh, wait, Dyl, isn’t there a case of Champagne in the basement? We could do Mimosas!” Vanessa suddenly perks up, her mood shifting quickly.
“Yeah babe, there is, I'll go grab it, be just a second.” Dylan says eagerly, evidently pleased to see his wife excited about something for the first time all morning.
“Glad to see one of your kids has got some problem solving skills, not the one I would have expected though.” Tom grumbles from the corner of the kitchen as Dylan disappears into the basement, your stomach clenching at the obvious distaste for the both of you in his voice, “I have been telling him to get the generator looked at for months, yet here we are. Hell, I could fix the thing if the damn kid had any tools.”
“Dylans got tools,” Lewis pipes up, having just walked back into the room, not even waiting for the evident rebuttal your father was about to lay out, “he’s got a whole workshop in the back shed. Breakfast is gonna be a while, maybe you and I can get it running.”
“Finally, some initiative, you’re a good man Lewis.” Tom says, already pushing off the counter and heading to suit up for generator repair.
“Dad.” Vanessa groans, pressing her forehead into her hands.
You can see every word your father would like to say bubbling at the surface, only keeping them inside for the sake of civility for the holiday, your mother quietly stewing from where she stands cutting up fruit. As Tom makes his way out of the room, Lewis moves over to where you and Vanessa are standing.
“Fair warning V, I don’t know the first thing about generators so I claim no responsibility for anything that happens, but he needs to get out of this damn room before it gets worse.” He tells her softly, squeezing her shoulder.
“Thank you.” She whispers softly, grabbing his hand to squeeze it back.
“By the way,” His voice is slightly louder now, his attention directed at you “I threw a few more logs on the fire to keep it hot, your bacon might need to get flipped soon, it was starting to get pretty violent.”
“Oh, yeah, thanks.” You say, surprised he even let you know, you would have sooner imagined he would let you burn it just to see you be yet another disgrace of the day, simply for his amusement.
When Dylan returns from the dark basement you are whisking eggs alone in the kitchen, his arms are full of Champagne bottles as he looks around at the empty room, evidently confused.
“Sorry that took so long, hard to navigate in the dark, where-” He begins.
“Mom, Dad, Beatrice, and V are all in the den watching the bacon cook.” You laugh, catching on to his question.
“Tom and Lewis?” He asks, immediately suspect.
“They're outside trying to fix the generator.” You say sheepishly, knowing he would hate it but not wanting to lie to him.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” He says under his breath, turning away from you for a moment.
“I know, I know, but Tom was going to go absolutely insane in here and as much as I dislike him I kinda think Lewis was trying to save your marriage.” You say quickly, trying to calm him down.
Dylan lets out a sigh, setting the heavy bottles down on the counter, “They better not hurt themselves fucking around with it. Besides they literally can’t fix it, it’s missing a part from the manufacturer, which I told Tom, but no, he has to go-” He begins to rant.
“Hey, Lewis at least kinda knows engines and if they can’t fix it, at least it keeps them busy for a while. Also just keep in mind that Dad would be just as overprotective of me as Tom is with V.” You try to diffuse the situation.
“Never thought I would hear you defend Lewis.” Dylan grumbles, ignoring everything else you had to say.
“I’m not,” You quickly defend yourself, “I’m just trying to give you the whole picture.”
“I’m glad you’re here, this family drives me insane sometimes. Nice to have someone normal.” Dylan admits to you quietly, not even looking up at you as the words leave his mouth.
“You may want to recalibrate on what you consider normal,” You start with a laugh, moving around the island to wrap him in a hug, “but I’m happy to be your partner in crime. Now, I’m gonna go cook some eggs and throw this bread on the fire. You pop some champagne and grab the oj and the fruit off the back deck.”
“Why is all of it on the back deck?” Dylan asks, doing his best to ignore the sappy sibling moment.
“It’s like a walk in refrigerator, even houses this nice only get those during the winter months.” You say teasingly as you walk away with your pan and bowl of eggs.
By the time breakfast is ready, Lewis and Tom have made their way back into the house, Tom finally conceding that he can’t fix the generator without extra parts. You are proud of Dylan as you see him bite his tongue, evidently having things to say but instead just thanking his father in law for trying. Vanessa is overjoyed with breakfast, thanking you profusely and taking a billion pictures because ‘it's just so rustic’, making you laugh every time she excitedly mentions it. Once again you feel yourself wanting to say something when you notice Lewis not touching anything that was made, sitting at the table with just a bowl of fruit and a mimosa, but you decide against it, deciding to just let breakfast progress peacefully. You do still find yourself hoping that he will leave the second after your brother finally gets outside to plow.
Once everyone is done eating you find yourself offering to help Beatrice clean up at the same moment as Lewis, she of course takes both of your offers happily, both of you sharing a less than pleased glance. As you begin to pile dishes into the sink, only able to rinse them with cold tap water, you hear a humm.
Your brothers voice cuts your thoughts off, talking to Lewis, “Hey man, I was gonna head out to plow, and I know you already shoveled and thank you so much, but I was wondering if I could convince you to hop on the skidoo while I’m on the hill, Vanessa freaks out when I plow the hill alone and I don’t think we need anymore drama this morning.”
“Yeah, no problem mate, just give me a minute.” Lewis says calmly.
“Guys, shhh.” You hiss from your spot at the sink.
“Well no shit.” Lewis mutters from behind you, where he stands wrapping up the bowl of fruit salad.
“Is that the heat?” You ask excitedly, whipping around to face them.
“Sounds like it.” Lewis chuckles, not looking at you, instead turning to open the fridge to put the salad away, a smile crossing both of your faces when you see the light illuminate the interior.
“Powers back on!” You hear your fathers voice call from the other room.
You decide to leave the dishes for another moment, heading into the den where everyone else has settled for the time being. When you enter you hear the TV click on, your father immediately finding the local news.
“The snowfall is the worst we have seen in almost a decade, nearing four feet in under twenty four hours. The winds were devastating, taking out power to most of the surrounding rural neighborhoods. Emergency crews are on the ground to aid in snow removal and extraction for those trapped indoors. If you are in a safe and warm location we urge you to stay inside, do not attempt travel, and wait for further updates.” The weather reporter's voice carries through the den, the TV cutting to scenes of parts of town that you had driven through absolutely ransacked with snow and downed trees.
“Lewis, darling, I know the snow has stopped but you have to stay, I would be worrying about you the whole time you were out there.” Beatrice says, her voice sounding overly desperate like calling someone home from war.
“It’s just a drive, Bea, I’d be totally fine once I made it to my house.” He argued patiently, his voice behind you.
“But the drive, you never know what will happen, and what if you get to your house and something happened there, then you have to drive all the way back here. I would be worried sick.” Beatrice continues to argue as if its her house, you know Vanessa would never turn Lewis down but the audacity of her mother doesn't cease to amaze you.
“Y/N and I got my car out of the snow this morning, if we can get the driveway plowed I’m good to go. Between my driving skills and the four wheel drive I’m sure I will be more than fine, I might have to sit through some delays but that will be it.” He continues to attempt to reason with the distraught woman.
“Lewis, she’s right, they’re telling people to stay put. It’s not worth the risk.” Vanessa pipes up, siding with her mom.
You can hear him let out a heavy sigh and you know he’s getting ready to concede, you don’t think you’ve ever actually seen him disagree with Vanessa or tell her no to anything she wants.
“I don’t want to intrude, I know you weren’t planning on having me here. You guys should really have your family holiday the way you planned it.” He argues one last time, the weakest argument yet.
“Nonsense, you are family. I’m always happy to have the son I never got around.” Tom says eagerly. You cringe internally at his words, for both Dylan and Vanessa, you can even see distaste on Lewis’ face when you steal a glance at him.
“I do genuinely need to get to my house at some point, but I’ll stick around a little longer if it would make you feel better.” Lewis finally concedes, looking less enthusiastic than you had anticipated.
You quietly announce that you are going to go finish the dishes, wanting to get away from everyone for a moment. You’re only allowed to be alone for a moment before Lewis is joining you in the kitchen, much to your dismay.
“You’ll survive.” You hear him grumble as he begins cleaning up the kitchen behind you.
“I didn’t say anything.” You snap at him, unhappy with being attacked unprovoked.
“Didn’t have to, I know you don’t want me here.” He says firmly.
“It’s not my house, Vanessa can invite whomever she pleases.” You say, continuing with the dishes.
“Yeah, she can, doesn’t mean you’re happy about it.” He argues.
“Because you’re just buzzing to spend more time with me?” You question him harshly, finally turning to face him as you dry your hands.
“Oh fucking dying.” He says sarcastically, an over dramatic pained look on his face.
He doesn’t give you time to respond before once again he is leaving the room without a word.
“It’s only a week Y/N.” You mutter to yourself, taking a deep breath before busying yourself with cleaning. Maybe you can keep yourself so busy you won’t have to interact with him at all.

Summary: He's your Sister in Laws best friend, you shouldn't even have to deal with him. Always seeming like a cocky arrogant prick, and now here he is crashing your family Christmas. Can you handle a full week of Lewis Hamilton? Or might he not actually be as bad as he seems?
Notes: Here is the beginning of my mini holiday series. A little bit of cheesy hallmark style enemies to lovers for your winter season! It will pickup quickly and I don't expect it to be too long but I'm excited to write some over dramatic cheesy angsty fluffiness! Best believe we will have it all lol
As always, I am not a professional writer and all of this is a work of fiction and is strictly for fun. Enjoy!
“Hey Y/N, everything is all set for when you land tomorrow! Dylan got you a rental car so you can go out whenever you want, it’s a bit of a drive from the airport but it’ll be so cozy once you get here! Oh my god I can’t wait, this whole thing is a dream come true.” Vanessa's voice cut through your voicemail loudspeaker as you applied your makeup. You were getting ready for a night out with your friends when you saw your sister in law's voicemail, you knew you couldn't ignore it, you knew she was in the middle of planning the family Christmas vacation, the one you were immensely dreading. You decided on sending her a voice note back, not wanting to deal with the full three hour phone call that would ensue, making you late to your friends party.
“Hey V, thank you so much, and tell Dyl thank you too, I appreciate you guys figuring out the flights, let me know what I owe you guys later, I can’t wait to see you guys.” You say into your phone with forced enthusiasm, not wanting to go to the gathering in the first place.
You grew up in New England, the winter season always took a toll on you. You didn’t like to ski or snowboard so once you were no longer a small child, the only thing that winter brought was shoveling and grey skies, both of which you hated. Once you were old enough and had enough money, you decided to move to the golden state, LA specifically, somewhere you would never see snow in your driveway again. Unfortunately your brother had remained glued to the winter life, settling down in snowy Colorado where he decided that his first family home needed to be celebrated by all. You couldn’t blame him really, it was bigger and nicer than anywhere you had ever lived. He and Vanessa were desperate for their first guests, eager to show off their beautiful new house and host both of your families at once. It seemed like a brag for Vanessa while your brother seemed to be in awe by the size of house they had moved into.
When you arrived at the club your friends were already deep, a few drinks ahead of you and in a much more playful mood than you were feeling. You were doing your best to let loose and have a good time but the nagging knowledge of your flight the next day was sitting heavy in the back of your brain. You were only half listening to one of your friends gush about some attractive man she was eyeing when you felt your phone buzz, a text from your brother Dylan to remind you of your flight as if it wasn’t the only thing you were thinking about already. You excused yourself as you headed to the bar in search of a new drink. While you were waiting a man appeared beside you, closer than you would have liked. You could smell the liquor on his breath before he even started speaking to you.
“Pretty girl having to buy her own drinks? Now this is just ridiculous.” He tried to flirt with you, his words slurring as they came out.
You forced out a polite laugh, before turning back to the bar, hoping the bartender would come soon.
“Oooh I see, she’s playing hard to get.” He said as if to someone else before he leaned closer to you. “C’mon lemme buy you a drink.”
“Doesn’t need you to, she’s got me, fuck off dude.” The voice came from behind you, immediately recognizable, Lewis. You wanted to roll your eyes, not particularly wanting to deal with him tonight but deciding he was better than the man that was currently ogling you.
“Shit, fine alright man, my bad.” The drunk man fumbled his words, seeming slightly startled and rather intimidated by Lewis. He started to stumble away, impressing you by how quickly he gave up but you couldn’t really blame him, Lewis had a certain aura about him that really told you not to mess with him.
As the drunk man left you felt Lewis take his spot next to you at the bar, not bothering to look at him, not really wanting to interact with him at all. You only knew Lewis through your sister in law Vanessa, they were family friends so he was around for important moments, holidays, birthdays, weddings etc. Those were the only times you ever interacted with him and every time you had left with a bad taste in your mouth. He seemed aloof, cocky, like he thought he was too good for the rest of humanity. He was annoyingly attractive and he knew it, you’d overheard him spitting game at more than a few women at your brother's wedding, and almost every single one of the women was falling for it. He had a way of carrying himself that just oozed arrogance, like everything about him was a level above everything and everyone else. You also had a certain distaste for the fact that every time you spoke to him he seemed to find a way to belittle you, talk down to you in a way that made you feel like a child despite being a fully grown woman. You had figured that you would be seeing him at some point this upcoming week, knowing Vanessa would have invited him for some part, but you didn’t think it would be at home in a club in LA that you first bumped into each other, never having done so before.
“Aren’t you supposed to be in Colorado?” He asks, his voice already holding that familiar layer of judgement that you’ve grown to despise.
“Flights tomorrow morning.” You tell him, keeping it short, hoping the conversation doesn’t need to be much longer than necessary.
“Flight in the morning and you’re out at a club?” He quizzes you and you can hear in his voice that he’s getting ready to offer you advice you really don’t want or need.
“Just wanted to blow off a little steam before a week in paradise.” You huff, waving to the bar tender yet again, not meaning to let the last part slip so sarcastically.
“You act like we’re locking you in a dungeon and throwing away the key.” He almost chuckles before downing the rest of whatever had been in his cup.
“We?” You ask abruptly, finally turning to look at him. You had been anticipating seeing him but the way he said that made it sound like he was going to be around quite a bit more than expected. It truly pissed you off that the second you finally faced him, you were checking him out, such a pretty face with such an annoying attitude.
“I’ll be in Colorado for the week.” He said plainly with a shrug.
“At Dylan and Vanessas?” You asked in an almost panicked tone that he immediately noticed.
“Jeez, chill out, I’ve got my own place out there. Little miss perfect won’t have to worry about mean ol’ Lewis all week, I’ll just be around here and there.” His tone was teasing as he said it, making you roll your eyes, unsure of how else to respond. Before you could think of anything to say the bartender finally arrived in front of you, Lewis was ordering something before elbowing you, prompting you to tell the man what you wanted.
“You’re welcome by the way.” Lewis said, his voice smug as the bartender walked away.
Once again you found yourself rolling your eyes before forcing yourself to thank him for the drink, “Thank you, but you didn’t actually have to buy me a drink.”
“Your eyes are gonna get stuck like that if you keep rolling them that hard.” He told you, an unamused look on his face.
“You sound like my father.” You grumbled.
“Well maybe he has a point,” He shrugged, “but I wasn’t talking about the drink, was talking about your stupid drunk man. Gotta find better company.”
“I didn’t exactly invite him over here, Lewis. And I didn’t ask for you to come rescue me.” You snapped.
“Well you're V’s sister in law now and she's my little sis so I kinda had to.” He stated plainly as the bartender finally returned.
You watched as Lewis turned on his charm for the man, thanking him and giving him a generous tip, showing the side of the man that everyone else seemed to see all the time, one that he never reserved for you.
“Enjoy your drink and then go home, don’t miss your flight because you were out partying or show up hungover. Just get yourself there in one piece, that’s literally all they ask of you.” His words are directed at you again, coming out with an assumed authority that baffles you.
“I’m a grown woman Lewis, I’ll be just fine.” You bite at him, annoyed that he thinks he has the right to tell you what to do.
“I know Y/N, I know.” He says with a sigh as he grabs his drink. You watch as he steps around you, leaving back into the crowd without even a proper parting word. It once again causes you to roll your eyes before making your way back to your own friends.
“Okay, hot man at the bar, do you know him?” Your friend Lillian was leaning on you almost immediately, digging for info on Lewis that second you were within earshot.
“Uh, kinda, not really, he’s kind of an ass.” You tell her, hoping to dissuade her.
“Well with a face like that he can be an ass to me anytime he wants.” She says enthusiastically.
You just humm in response, returning your attention to your drink, not really wanting to further discuss Lewis and his annoying ways or aggravating beauty. His words about not missing your flight bounce around in the back of your head, of course you had already been aware of not being late but now it was all that was on your mind. Between his words and Dylans reminder you suddenly felt as if everyone was expecting you to flake, not actually convinced you were going to show up at all. Before you could even finish your drink you were deciding to leave, truly not in the party mood any longer. As you made your way to the door you just knew he was watching you, you could feel it and you hated that he was getting the confidence of seeing you do exactly what he told you to.
. . .
Your morning had been hell, your flight having been delayed three times due to incoming weather. When you finally landed in Colorado you were well and truly in a cranky mood, one that only turned even further sour when the woman at the rental agency got snappy with you for being late for your pickup. You had tried to explain to her that your brother had made the reservation and that your flight was delayed but her attitude did not budge. She remained snippy with you as she grumbled about ‘finding you something to take’ before handing you the keys to a tiny sedan. When you approached it in the lot you were at your wits end, it's not that you needed something fancy or luxurious, it was the fact that the car you were looking at seemed as light as could be and evidently still had summer tires on it. There was a big winter storm brewing and you knew you still had at least a 45 minute drive to your brother's house, one that you hadn’t been looking forward to anyway. The snow was already coming down as you sat in the parking lot waiting for the car to warm up at least enough to defrost the windshield, you listened to the man on the radio talk about the incoming storm, saying it was set to be the biggest snowfall the area had seen in years and it was going to come down quick. You couldn’t help but grumble to yourself about your displeasure for the snow as you texted your brother to let him know that you were getting on the road.
The storm thankfully decided to be merciful, only really beginning to pick up in the very last stretch of your journey, barely even causing any delay for you. When you got to your brother's house you could feel yourself letting out a sigh of relief, knowing that soon enough you would be inside a warm and cozy house with the people that you love, hopefully eating good food and having a cocktail. The moment your brother opened the front door you were met with the smell of a fireplace and something cooking for dinner, your tension slipping away just a bit more.
“Y/N! Thank god, I was getting worried when I saw the snow picking up.” Dylan said cheerfully, pulling you into the house to give you a tight hug.
“Hi Dyl, it’s definitely getting heavy out there but I think I missed the worst of it.” You can’t help but laugh slightly at how tightly your brother has embraced you.
“Come in, V’s got dinner going, Dad was just getting ready to make a round of drinks.” He rambles to you as he pulls you further in the house, reaching around to grab your suitcase off the porch.
“The Holidays can now begin, my other baby has arrived!” Your moms voice carries loudly from the kitchen before you see her almost jogging in your direction, her arms wide ready for an embrace.
“Mom,” you laugh as she squeezes you even tighter than Dylan had, “you knew I was coming. Sorry I’m late guys, the airport was insane.”
“Sounds like you could use a drink Kiddo.” Your dad is next to pull you into a hug, not even having made it out of the foyer yet.
“I will take you up on that, I also need to change into something a little warmer, I dressed for cold LA not Colorado.” You admit as he presses a kiss to the top of your head, making you feel like a child.
“Yeah for sure, let me show you your room and then you can come say hello to everyone in the kitchen once you've changed.” Dylan says, grabbing your bag and already making his way up the stairs.
“This place is beautiful, Dylan.” You tell him earnestly as you follow him down the long hallway. It’s everything that you would imagine if someone told you they had purchased a Chateau in Colorado, deep exposed wood, high ceilings, massive windows. You were excited to see the rest of it, knowing Vanessa would be adamant about giving you a full tour. It was much too big for what they needed but you figured that didn’t matter as long as they were happy.
“Thank you, it’s really a dream come true. Never thought I would live in a place like this, much less own it.” He confesses as he swings open the door to a room at the end of the hall.
You offer your brother a warm smile before you turn to take in the room, suddenly stunned when you see the size and luxury of it. The room is expansive, massive windows on two walls and what appears to be a large balcony off the back. There is a sitting area in front of a fireplace and what appears to be a king size bed in the middle of the room. You can see another door off to the side and you can only assume it is a private bathroom.
“Dylan what the fuck? Why does it look like the master suite?” You ask him, overwhelmed, not having expected anything so grand.
He just shrugs with a smile as he steps further into the room, placing your luggage down next to the bed. “We just wanted you to be comfortable, we know this year has been hard for you and winter isn’t something you get along with, we’re just grateful you decided to come.”
“Dylan, I am not kicking you guys out of your room, oh my god.” You start to panic, immediately feeling guilty.
“No, you’re not,” He laughs at you, placing a hand on your shoulder, “this is a guest suite, it's just the nicest of them.”
You let out a breath before feeling guilty again, “No what about mom and dad, or Beatrice and Tom, they should be in here, I just need a bedroom, this is too much.”
“Stop, everyones already settled, and we all agreed that you should have your own space, away from the rest of us. It only seemed fair.” His voice is sincere, not giving you any time to rebuttal before he is leaving the room and telling you to get changed.
By the time you make your way back downstairs everyone has settled in the den with drinks in their hand. You had to wander a bit at first, following the sounds of voices and laughter. The room was cozy, still sprawling but the lights were dim and the furniture was plush. You could hear the storm truly picking up outside, the trees snapping back and forth in the wind outside the window making you grateful for the fire crackling in the corner.
“Perfect, Y/N, I have a drink ready for you right here!” Vanessa called to you as you walked into the room.
“Thank you so much, this place is beautiful.” You tell her as you settle into the seat beside her, taking the drink and giving her a small hug.
“Ugh, thank you, this place is just such a dream come true, straight out of a fantasy.” She gushes immediately, promising to give you a tour once you've had some time to relax.
“Y/N, good to see you, feels like it's been a while.” Tom, Vanessa’s father, speaks up from across the room, raising his glass of whiskey in your direction. You offer him a smile, feeling a moment of guilt wash over you, knowing you had been invited to a few celebrations where your paths would have crossed but had decided against attending.
“She’s a busy woman, always nice to have her around when we get the chance.” Dylan pipes up, offering you a subtle save, knowing you probably don’t want to get too much into your personal life at the moment.
The conversation thankfully moves on, Tom choosing to change direction and grill Dylan on everything that is going on for him with his company, ever protective of Vanessa even now that they're married and in this beautiful home. Your mother on the other hand chooses to come sit next to you and Vanessa, Beatrice following her shortly thereafter. They do ask about your life in LA but Vanessa's mother is more interested in hearing if you’ve had any celebrity sightings than she is about your woes in life. Your mother wants to show off photos of art projects she’s been doing to keep herself busy. You can’t help but laugh at the two older women as you settle into the evening, nursing your drink as you share amused glances with Vanessa every once in a while. Every so often you hear the wind outside pick up, the storm casting a white haze over the large window at the end of the room. When you hear the doorbell you glance around the room, unsure of who would still be yet to arrive, especially so late and in the storm. Vanessa looks confused as well, Dylan getting up to go check the door.
“Hey man, didn’t expect to see you for another day or two.” You hear Dylan greet someone enthusiastically.
“Yeah, I caught an earlier flight out trying to avoid the storm and ended up landing smack in the middle of it. Wasn’t sure if I’d be able to make it back this way in the next few days so I figured I’d stop on my way out to my house.” The familiar British accent carries through the house, Vanessa's face lighting up as she darts up from her seat, ready to go greet her friend.
You feel yourself deflate slightly, having been enjoying the casual and kind air of the evening, knowing his presence would definitely cause a difference. You hear their voices approach from down the hall, Tom and Beatrice standing up, excited to see the man they have long adopted as a son. You always wondered if part of Tom was disappointed that Lewis and Vanessa hadn't ended up together, merely from the way that Tom's attention would end up solely on Lewis when he was around, almost entirely ignoring your brother.
“Son, always a pleasure. How was your flight?” Tom asks the moment Lewis appears in the room, pulling him into a fatherly hug.
“Good to see you, sorry to pop in unannounced.” Lewis starts politely, turning on the charm toward Beatrice.
“Never worry, you’re always welcome.” She gushes, so happy to see him. It does make you laugh to yourself, it’s not her house to extend the invitation to but you’re not surprised.
He gives her a warm smile before continuing, “Yeah, flight was alright, a little choppy but nothing too bad. The airport here was a disaster though, glad I’d left my car there, the rental lot was picked through and cabs aren’t taking anyone past town.”
“Yeah, Y/N was saying the airport was crazy, I think she got the last rental car on the lot.” Dylan says, suddenly making Lewis aware of your presence, his eyes snapping to you.
“You remember Dylan's little sister,” Beatrice begins before Lewis is politely cutting her off.
“Y/N, of course,” He nods at you in what seems a kind way before the jab lands, “good job making it here.”
To everyone else it sounds like a comment about the storm but you know, you can see in his eye that he's referencing your conversation the prior night. His comment about everyone wanting you to just show up, it makes you think about Tom's comment when you first sat down, everyone knows you are the weak link. Before you can even respond, Vanessa is ushering him further into the room, annoyingly placing him where she had been sitting, directly next to you. She wanders away, headed to make Lewis a drink, completely unaware of the tension she sat next to you.
“You just get here?” Lewis asks, surprising you that he’s bothering with conversation at all.
“Few hours ago.” You say simply, turning your attention to watch the snow swirl in a mesmerizing dance.
He just nods, following your gaze to the window.
Before anyone has a chance to say anything else, Vanessa is returning with Lewis’ drink and announcing to everyone that dinner is ready. Lewis begins to protest, not wanting to intrude on a family dinner but everyone else is quick to shush him, telling him they would love for him to stay. Shortly thereafter you are all seated around a beautiful table, Lewis sitting directly across from you, a delicious looking meal placed in the center. Tom takes a moment to thank Vanessa for inviting everyone and being such a wonderful host, gushing about his daughter as he forgets to mention Dylan for even a moment. As the bowls get passed around the table you can’t help but notice that Lewis is ignoring almost everything that is placed in front of him, passing it along without a moments thought. By the time everyone is served you notice that his plate is only a salad, it makes you want to scoff, not even during his off season will he let himself indulge in something, too focused on his physique. You stay relatively quiet throughout dinner, just listening to everyone else chatter, it’s not until your mom asks Lewis what he has been up to since the season ended that you are caught off guard.
“I spent the last week in LA, needed some sun before winter.” He tells her, causing wires to connect in her brain.
“Oh! Y/N lives in LA, what a coincidence, I’m surprised you two don’t see each other more often.” The excitement in her voice makes you laugh as you quickly go to shut her down, not even registering that you had in fact seen him just the night before.
“Mom, it's a massive city-” You laugh.
“Well we actually saw each other last night.” Lewis says at the same time as you, stopping you in your tracks. He’s staring right at you as he takes a casual sip of his water before he glances around the table.
“Really?” Tom asks, leaning in like this is the news of the year.
“Oh come on, you didn’t tell them?” Lewis laughs, it’s hollow, not like the warm laugh you’ve heard directed towards other people. He knew you wouldn’t have mentioned it, he’s enjoying being the one to let everyone know you were out partying the night before family holiday.
“I mean, no I didn’t, but it’s not like it’s common.” You stutter out, weirdly flustered all the sudden.
“Yeah, ran into her out with some of her friends at a club last night, had to save her from a creepy drunk guy who didn’t want to leave her alone.” He tells the table casually, settling back into his seat.
“Well I’m glad you were there Lewis, I worry about her when I hear about her going out like that. This world is just getting too dangerous to be out flaunting yourself like that.” Your dad pipes up, making you whip your head in his direction.
“Dad, I wasn’t-” You begin to argue before getting cut off by Lewis.
“It wasn’t her fault. She was just there, shouldn’t have to hide away just because she’s a woman.” Lewis says firmly, looking at you again as if to seal his words, catching you off guard by defending you.
“Thanks.” You silently mouth in his direction. He doesn’t acknowledge it, carrying on with his story instead.
“But yeah, the guy left pretty quickly, he was harmless. I was surprised to see her though, figured she would already be here. I was glad to see you left when you did, with your flight this morning and all.” He continues.
“You were out too.” You quickly fire back at him, not enjoying the embarrassment in front of your family.
“Had a later flight than you,” He simply shrugs, a smirk forming on his face, “How was this morning, rough one?”
“My only issue this morning was the weather, thanks.” You say, a snip in your tone.
“Glad to hear it.” He says, getting comfortable in his seat as he thankfully changes topics.
Thankfully the awkward air that had settled over dinner dissipated quickly and before you knew it Lewis was saying that he needed to get going, still needing to drive another hour to his own house. There was no hesitation before Vanessa and Beatrice were telling him to spend the night, not enjoying the idea of him travelling in the weather at night. You noticed his eyes flicker to you as he started to turn them down, part of you wondered if he was doing it because he told you he wasn’t staying with them but you doubted he was being that thoughtful. He stayed strong, adamant that he would be fine and that he really wanted to settle into his own place but that he would be back later in the week. You feel a certain relief as you see him finally manage to say his goodbyes, bundling up in his long woolen coat as he makes his way out the door. You can hear the wind when he stepped out the door and you did worry that his drive would be far from enjoyable but you didn’t feel like hanging out with him much longer.
As you helped clear the table you noticed something on the ground, right below where Lewis had been sitting. You put down the plates in your hands with a huff, reaching down to grab what turned out to be a wallet. You internally groaned, of course he dropped his wallet, of course you found it, it would be wrong to send him on his way without it, especially in this weather. You let out a sigh, jogging to the front door, hoping he hadn’t left yet. When you pulled the front door open you were shocked, you almost couldn’t see the front steps mere feet from you.
“Holy shit.” You muttered to yourself, grabbing the nearest pair of boots by the door, haphazardly throwing them on in hopes of catching Lewis.
When you cautiously made your way down off the porch, wading through the rather deep snow that now covered the path to the driveway, you saw him clearing the snow off his car. His jacket was blowing in the wind and he had an arm up to shield his face from the blowing snow, much like you yourself did. You let out a sigh of resignation, there’s no way you could let him drive an hour in this, no matter how badly he got on your nerves. You continue to make your way toward him, snow falling into the borrowed boots making you wince.
“Lewis,” You call out to him, “what the hell are you doing?”
He turns toward you, a confused look across his features, “Cleaning off my car, what do you need?”
“I can see that,” You say as you get closer to him, rolling your eyes at his answer, “I mean why the heck are you trying to drive home in this? Just come back inside.”
“Came all the way out here to save me? I’ll be fine, you seemed pretty worried that I was staying here the other night.” He says, turning back to his car.
“Actually I came out here because you dropped your wallet.” You say plainly, not enjoying his attitude but catching his attention again.
“Shit, thanks.” He extends his hand, waiting for you to hand it over.
“No, you’re insane, just grab your bag and come back inside. You annoy the shit out of me but I don’t particularly want you dead on the side of the road.” You shake your head, stepping back from him to prove that you’re not handing his wallet over until he turns his car off and comes inside.
“Well that's nice to hear.” He says sarcastically.
“You dying right before Christmas would kind of ruin holidays for me forever, V would be distraught.” You throw at him, it being partially true.
“Fine.” He concedes through a huff, his shoulders slumping as he trudges to his car door to kill the engine.
You watch as he grabs his bag from the backseat before making his way toward you, gesturing impatiently for you to go so he can follow you back to the house.
“Besides, now I’m the hero that convinced Mr. Perfect to stay, I basically just saved your life.” You say teasingly over your shoulder as you start your way up the steps. You’re too focused on your own dig and not enough on the slippery stairs, your feet almost coming out from under you. Much to your embarrassment, Lewis is there with a steadying grip on your arm.
“Just saved my life and then tried to break my neck by falling on me.” He mutters, letting go of you once you're stable.
“Give me a break, I’m pretty sure I’m wearing Dylan's boots.” You argue, pulling away from him harshly.
The moment you are inside he is being swarmed by your family again, all so happy he has decided to stay the night, no one even paying attention to the fact that you’ve come inside with him. Dylan is quickly showing him to his room for the night, apologizing that it’s not very fancy. You decide to slip away up to your room, having gotten rather cold and wet in your time outside. The whole time you’re getting ready for bed you’re telling yourself that it’s only for the night. You won’t even notice that he’s here and he will be gone tomorrow when the storm has passed. That hope lasts very briefly until you hear a knock on your door. You naively swing the door open, assuming it's someone to come say goodnight, and there he is.
“What the hell do you want?” You groan.
He doesn’t respond, he just pushes off the doorframe pushing past you into your room as he lets out a long whistle.
“This might actually be nicer than my bedroom at home.” He says, still ignoring your question as he looks around the room.
“Yeah it’s beautiful. What do you want?” You ask again, eager for him to leave so you can climb under the blankets.
“So pushy,” He chuckles, turning back to you, “I believe you have something of mine?”
“Right.” You say flatly, moving past him to the dresser where you had thrown his wallet that had still been in your pocket.
“How much did ya take?” He asks after you hand it to him, flicking it open as if to inspect that all his cards are still there.
“Not nearly enough.” You grumble, sitting down on the end of the bed.
He just chuckles, taking another glance around your room before walking out of your room without a word, something he seems to be making a habit of. You groan when you see that he’s left your door wide open, reluctantly making your way off your bed.
“He’ll be gone tomorrow.” You mutter to yourself as you lean against the now closed door, and you can only pray it's true.

You guys interested? or should I wait until I can find it in me to finish the wedding from sweet escape...?
X-Mas mini series or wait for the wedding epilogue

“I’m so sorry I have to cut this short hun.” Lewis said as he wiped his mouth across the table, his eyes truly apologetic.
“I’m just glad I got to see you for a few minutes while you were here.” You said softly, your heeled foot brushing his calf under the table, your words coming out much shyer than your actions.
It wasn’t that you and Lewis were new to each other, far from it. You had met him at the beginning of his season and now here he was, just a few weeks away from moving to Ferrari. Every break he had he’d made time to see you, yet he’d been a perfect gentleman the entire time. Yes, the pet names were laid on in excess and the touches had begun to linger a few months ago but you were becoming restless for more. You really couldn’t blame yourself when he had the audacity to sit across the table from you looking so incredible, being so sweet every time he suggested you get together. Yes, you may have turned him down at first but this was getting ridiculous, there's no way you two were not on the same page.
“I don’t want to cut anything short, I wish I could stay, I really do,” He paused as he reached forward to grab your hand, “but I have a red carpet in like two days and I have to meet with Eric.”
“Mmm,kay” you huffed out infantly.
“Nah, don’t do that, I’ll see you before I head out, I promise.” He smirked at your attitude, squeezing your hand.
“So you don’t have any time for a pretty girl in between dinner and Eric?” You asked, attempting to layer the sultry and lust in your voice as you let your foot wander higher.
“Y/N.” His voice came out strained but stern, his strong hand grabbing your leg, “I cut it close by even getting dinner with you tonight, just couldn’t stay away.”
“So it sounds like I win over Eric.” You giggled, leaning forward on the table, your calf still in his strong palm.
“Don’t do this to me,” He groaned, “Listen I can leave the tab open, just don’t go home with anyone unless you’re calling me.”
“What if I call you in like 10 minutes?” you giggled again, his hand snaking up your calf despite how composed he was trying to stay.
“Y/N.” He warned, his voice low but his hand never ceasing its exploration.
“Well you go have fun with business things I guess, I’ll be here enjoying the atmosphere and free drinks, as long as I end my night with you.” You told him with a laugh as he stood up, dropping your leg abruptly, no amusement to be shown on his face.
“Not so sure you know what you just asked for baby girl, enjoy the drinks, I’ll send you a car.” Lewis whispered, bent down so only you could hear, making your stomach flip, finishing with a kiss to your cheek.
You watched as his muscular body moved away, staring at him intently as he told the host something while looking directly at you. Through the rest of the evening you enjoyed free drinks while sat with the best view, you listened as the dinner atmosphere turned into a club yet no one disrupted you unless they were refilling your drink. You were happily buzzed and seconds later your phone was buzzing just as much as you were.
“I couldn’t just send a car…” His sultry British accent came over the speaker.
“Are you saying you’re outside to pick me up sir?” You teased him.
“Of course baby, c’mon before I hire someone to drag you out.” He chuckled
“She came in with Lewis Hamilton but he didn't leave with her”
“Heard he's been seeing some woman on the east side.”
“He can't even convince us he likes his car, why would he like her”
The laughter of the girls that were probably too young to be there anyway stuck in your chest. A 15 year olds opinion didn’t matter right? But then again they see the tabloids and you avoid them…
By the time you’re out of the restaurant and into Lewis' car you find yourself in a foul mood, your happy buzz turning into a sad drunk imagining everything he could have done in the last few hours.
“You okay love?” He asks as you plop into the passenger seat, not even waiting for him to see you and open it up for you.
“Mmmm.” You humm, still stupidly in your head.
“Y/N, what’s going on? I’m so sorry I had to leave but-” Lewis starts his argument as he pulls onto the freeway.
“You do whatever you want, Lewis.” You say sharply,
“Woah, where did that come from?” Lewis asks, sharp but inquisitive.
“I should have known you were too good for me, my lew was just a fucking phase. All the damn teenagers in the restaurant knew it… you went and got fucked by someone else, I get it, i made you wait, you’re you, you’re a playboy and I guess-” You try to rant before his hand is against your mouth
“What the fuck are you talking about?” He asks, finally letting your mouth free with a look of pure confusion.
“What am I talking about? Where the hell did you go tonight? What are all those girls talking about?” You ask him sharply.
“Y/N, I went and saw Eric, I told you that. And are you talking about the teenage girls trying to get drinks at the bar?” His voice is firm before turning to further confusion.
“Yes Lewis, I am, they had lots to say as I left.” You try to keep your voice firm but it ends up sounding childish as you slump into your seat, crossing your arms across your chest.
“Y/N, those girls are like 15 years old and probably drunk for the first time in their lives, they were trying to drunkenly flirt with me when I left as if that isn’t a damn felony. Why the hell are you listening to anything they have to say?” His voice is incredulous, unable to process that the night has taken them to this point.
“Well you’re not denying a word they said right now, are you?” You throw back at him.
“I honestly didn’t think I had to!” He exclaims, still in disbelief.
You let out a scoff, turning to look out the window.
“Y/N, c’mon, I had a meeting with Eric, one that I was late to so I could make time to see you, I’m here to pick you up so I can spend more time with YOU. Why the hell would I be off with someone else?” His voice is firm but still holds a faint questioning tone.
“I don’t know, I’m evidently not good enough for you, I don’t even know how or why I caught your attention in the first place. I don’t even know what the hell it is that we’re doing. You haven’t even kissed me Lewis! I constantly feel like an idiot, I sit here wanting you to fuck me and the most I get out of you is you calling me ‘baby’.” You let all of your thoughts come out, against your better judgment, slumping against your seat with a huff.
He is quiet for a moment, stunned to silence. He is struggling between keeping his eyes on the road and staring at you in utter disbelief, a look you would see if you had the guts to steal a glance at him.
“I- I honestly don’t even know where to start…” He says quietly, trailing off.
“You know I’m right, that's why you don't know what to say.” You state as if it's a fact, a sassy quip in your tone as you shrug your shoulders, a sassiness that only comes out after some drinks.
He so badly wants to laugh, not only at your unusual sassiness but at just how ungodly wrong you are, but he knows that he can’t, that he shouldn’t, it would only make everything worse. Instead he does his best to stay firm.
“Sweetheart, no, you couldn’t be further from right. I adore you, I’m just…” He sighs, trying to find the way to explain his feelings without sending you further over the edge, “I’m trying to be a gentleman here, I’m trying to do things a little different than I normally would. I’m out of practice with this whole romance thing and I know that you were skeptical of it at first too. I don’t want to rush you, I just love being around you.”
You scowl at being called out, knowing he’s right, you were very skeptical when you first met him, not convinced that being anything other than an acquaintance of a man of his caliber was a smart idea. You don’t dwell on it though, the liquor in your brain deciding to latch on to something else, ‘he just loves being around you’, there it is, you’re friends.
“So you’re not attracted to me?” You almost whine, if you were sober you would be embarrassed at how it came out but you can’t find it in you to care right now.
“Where the hell did you get that?” He asks, this time he can’t hold back the chuckle.
“You literally just said that you just love being around me.” You point out, still clearly not understanding much of what he said.
“Yes, and I do, how does that translate to me not being attracted to you?” He questions, a small smirk on his face as he notices that your mood is switching slightly from angry to bratty.
“You said JUST, meaning that’s all you want.” You challenge him, reading far too much into his words.
“Y/N, I also said I’m trying to be a gentleman with you and not rush you because of your feelings and boundaries.” He says calmly as he keeps his eyes on the road, trying not to get irritated with the beautiful tipsy woman next to him.
“Well how long were you planning on being a gentleman because I’ve been wanting you to fuck me for about six months now.” You say boldly.
His eyes go wide as he chokes on his own spit, not used to you being so blatant. The two of you flirt, things have gotten suggestive between you two more often than not, but you so boldly admitting something like that is new territory for him. He has to take a moment to gather himself before speaking.
“I- I didn’t know that,” He admits, his voice low, “I honestly thought you had just barely warmed up to the idea of us being more than friends.”
“What about my foot on your crotch tonight seemed like I still wanted to be just your friend?” You laugh in disbelief, slightly unsure if you are bad at putting yourself out there or if he is that bad at reading signs.
“Well yeah, tonight was pretty clear what you wanted, and to be honest I was going to give you exactly that after my meeting, it’s why I picked you up! I’ve been going crazy trying to go slow!” He exclaims.
“Was?” You question quickly.
“What?” He asks, blinking in confusion.
“You said was.” You point out.
“Oh jeez, not this again Y/N.” He huffs, ready for you to be mad at him for a whole new reason.
“No no no, you said ‘was going to give you exactly that’. You don’t want to fuck me anymore?” You pout as you question him.
He once again has to take a moment to gather himself, still unsure how to handle your unabashedness.
“No, I do! In the future, yes, and I will if you’ll let me, but you got in this car ready to cut my head off or at the very least never speak to me again, I kinda thought that the flirty mood from dinner had gone out the window.” He tries to explain as you near his house. With the argument he hadn’t even taken a moment to consider that maybe he should be dropping you at yours instead.
“So not tonight?” You huff.
“No Y/N, probably not tonight.” He says quietly, a hint of disappointment lingering in his words as he pulls into his driveway.
“Why are we here then?” You ask, unsure of what to do now.
“Just come inside for a bit, you can sleep in the guestroom if you want or I can call you a car later if you really want, but I don’t think this conversation is really done.” He coaxes you, undoing his seatbelt and turning to look at you.
“I feel like I’ve made my points.” You shrug, staying firmly seated in your spot.
This time he truly can’t help but laugh at you, getting out of the car and making his way to your door.
“Well maybe I haven’t made all of mine.” He says as he stands in the doorframe, his hand extended to help you out of the car.
You don’t say anything, choosing to stare straight ahead as the brattiness really sets in.
“Y/N, if you don’t get out of the car on your own I won’t hesitate to pick you up myself, c’mon.” His voice is slightly teasing but you can hear how serious he is.
Finally you sigh in defeat, grabbing his hand to step out of the car. You hate that the second you feel his skin on yours your whole body warms. Tingles go down your spine and everything feels just right, you’re meant to be holding his hand, you’re meant to be so much more than just friends, but right now you’re mad at him, so you do your best to shake it off. You’re confident that you played it cool but he could see the feelings from a mile away, the same warmth enveloping him the moment you placed your smaller hand in his. He would normally tease you, but right now he knows not to muddy the waters, he needs you to actually listen to him when he gets you inside. You snatch your hand back from him once you are standing, watching awkwardly as he grabs your purse and closes the car door before gesturing for you to head towards his house. You feel like a lost puppy, obeying his commands but you can’t help it, your bratty mood only has so much strength. When you get inside you feel out of place, despite having been there many times. You can’t explain exactly why you feel so bizarre about it, maybe it’s that you’re finally sobering up and starting to realize that you still have many doubts, maybe it’s that you’re sobering up and realizing exactly what you accused him of in the car, maybe it’s that you’re sobering up and really becoming aware that you blatantly told the man you wanted him to fuck you, regardless of what it is you would rather not be sober right now. The tension hanging in the air as he puts his jacket away is weighing on you like a heavy snow, you want him to put you out of your misery and break the silence but he doesn’t. Instead he just moves towards the kitchen, leaving you to follow him aimlessly. He grabs a glass from the cupboard as you wander over to his wine cooler, ready to make your selection for the talk you're about to have. Before you can even take in the selections you feel his hands on your waist, guiding you away and toward the kitchen island.
“Nope, I think you’ve had enough, sit.” He says firmly in your ear as he just about places you on a bar stool.
You don’t say anything, just watch as he makes his way back to the other side of the island, filling the glass he’d just taken out with water before he’s sliding it in your direction.
“I’m not thirsty.” You say, staring at the glass in front of you.
“You wanted wine about 20 seconds ago.” He deadpans, calling you out with a raise of his eyebrow.
“You know damn well that's not why I wanted the wine.” You shoot back at him, “You said you had points to make, go ahead.” You prompt him, wanting to get this over with as quickly as possible.
He sighs, his shoulders slumping as he shakes his head and a look of amusement creeps its way onto his face. He takes a moment, just staring at you, taking you in and you start to feel uncomfortable under the scrutiny.
“Y/N, I don’t know what else to do.” He admits, sounding defeated.
You don’t respond verbally, furrowing your brow in confusion as you cock your head.
“I know we got to a… I guess a better place, back in the car, but I still don’t think you actually get it.” His voice is quiet, he sounds vulnerable.
This is unusual for you, you’re not used to Lewis being anything other than charming and cocky, to see him look defeated, vulnerable, it makes your stomach twist.
“I don’t get what?” You ask quietly, suddenly feeling slightly guilty.
“Hun, I try so hard. I don’t have enough time, and I know that, and I’m sorry for that, but I do my very best to see you as much as I physically can. When I’m away I try to not let a day go by where I don’t at least text you much less call you. I do stupid things with my schedule if it means I get to spend a few extra minutes with you. We’ve talked about things far deeper and greater than anything I’ve ever told my closest friends. I try to make every time I see you special because I know I’m not around for the casual moments and I have to be honest, most of that I’m not even doing for you. I’m doing it for myself because you are one of the most incredible women that I’ve ever met and I would kick myself if I let you fall through my fingers, yet here I am and it seems like I’ve done just that.” His eyes bore into yours as his words flow out freely, clearly unashamed about his feelings.
“I know you try hard, I never said you didn’t.” You say quietly, feeling almost like a child getting reprimanded after a tantrum.
“I know you didn’t say it, but I can’t help but feel it when you get in my car after a good night and immediately make it very clear that you don’t trust me.” He says firmly, his gaze never leaving yours.
“I do trust you.” You say, your voice barely above a whisper.
“Then why are you listening to drunk kids in a bar gossiping about things they know nothing about? Why don’t you tell me what you want with me? Things like the fact that apparently you’ve wanted to fuck me for the last six months? Why didn’t you tell me you were starting to maybe feel differently about this whole relationship after making it very clear that I didn’t have a shot?” His questions pour out in a way that makes your stomach knot, knowing he’s right to question all of it.
“I was drunk.” You answer meekly, hoping answering one question will be enough.
He lets out a dry laugh, “Okay, we’ll write that one off. What about the rest of it, Y/N?”
“It scares the shit out of me.” You admit so quietly you’re not sure he can hear as you stare at the glass of water in front of you.
“Admitting it to me or being with me?” He questions, his voice much softer now.
“All of it.” You say, feeling tears forming in your lash line.
“Explain it to me hun, because from where I am, we have a pretty amazing thing here if we just lean into it.” He says, so softly it could make you burst.
“I spend every day questioning not only why but hell if you’re even attracted to me. I know you have a billion other options so I don’t understand why you keep coming back, I’m afraid I’m just fun for you but then I think about it and I realize I’m not even your fun! We’re in wildly different worlds and I don’t even know how anything would ever work. I worry that you won’t be able to actually commit to anything. I worry that I’m the only one here feeling like this and I’m terrified of looking stupid and I’m terrified of losing the little bit of you that I have.” You rant, your tears now slipping past your lashes.
His face immediately softens when he sees your tears, quickly stepping around the island to get closer to you. He grabs the back of your chair, turning you to face him.
“Y/N, baby, I need to remind you that the very day we met, I point blank asked you out and you turned me down,” He starts quietly, taking your face in his hands to wipe away your tears as they fall, “I argued that we seemed like a good match and you had the audacity to agree with me but told me that you wanted a man that wasn’t fucking around, wouldn’t toss you to the side when he got busy. You told me that a romance with me sounded dangerous and that wasn’t what you were looking for but I couldn’t let you slip away like that so I asked you to let me prove that I could be that for you.”
You both laugh gently, remembering the first encounter that started all of this.
“I’ve been here trying to prove it to you, trying to be the perfect gentleman that you deserve, trying not to rush you, waiting for you to tell me you were ready. You didn’t say anything until tonight. And no, I’m not an idiot, I saw you starting to flirt more openly with me, I noticed you opening up about things, things becoming more intimate, but I swore I wouldn’t cross that line until the day you told me I could. If it’s just the logistics of it, that’s something we can work out, we’re both pretty smart people, I just need you to be honest with me.” He smiles softly at you, stroking your cheek with his thumb.
“Please kiss me.” You whimper, if your brain wasn’t processing all his words at a thousand miles an hour in the moment you may have cared about how you sounded, but after his speech all you wanted was his lips on yours.
“Is that your official way of telling me I can cross the line? That you’ll actually consider this?” He asks, his face closer to yours but still needing that final confirmation.
“God yes Lewis, I want you, I want to be yours, I want you to be mine, I’m sorry.” You say quickly, grabbing his arms in an attempt to get him closer.
“No need to apologize, beautiful girl.” The words leave his lips softly before they press against yours.
The second you feel his warm lips and their gentle touch, you melt. You feel complete the second he’s kissed you, unsure why you fought it for so long. His grip on your face is steady, grounding, everything you need. He pulls away much too quickly for your liking, keeping the kiss sweet, too PG for what you’re craving desperately. You chase his lips making him release a giggle that only causes you to pout.
“So you approve, huh?” He teases you, his hands coming down to rest on your waist.
“Oh shush, acting like you didn’t love it too.” You say, your pout morphing into a smirk that you can’t contain.
“I didn’t say I didn’t.” He says, leaning back into your lips.
This time he’s slightly less hesitant, his lips moving against yours gently. You can tell he’s holding back still but you're just too pleased to care, only causing excitement of what's to come when he’s less restrained.
“You know, two hours ago you were ready to rail me and now you’re being almost shy with the kisses.” You laugh at him when you finally pull away for air.
“Ssshhh, I’m just getting used to the territory.” He teases you, placing another peck to your lips.
“About that whole you picking me up to bring me back here and ya know…” You trail off, hoping he gets the hint of where you’d like the evening to go.
He lets out a sigh, pinching your hip before speaking, “I know, but not tonight. Just feel like we need to take a second.”
You pout at him again to which he just chuckles, pecking your pout sweetly.
“You’re the one who wanted to take it slow.” He points out.
“You’re the one who told me I was supposed to get laid tonight.” You throw back at him.
“Well you were the one with her foot on my cock.” He says, his eyebrows raised.
You gulp, the word tumbling from his mouth making your stomach coil in a much different way than earlier in the night.
“I-” You start, all the sudden feeling shy.
“Hmmm, cats got your tongue?” He jests.
“Well you were all ready to fuck me tonight but you wouldn’t even kiss me without explicit consent.” You blurt out, trying to call him on his contradiction.
“Fair point, but you were driving me to a new level of insanity at dinner tonight and I thought I was getting the message loud and clear.” He says calmly, leaning back in to kiss you again.
You silently pray that maybe just maybe he’s going back on his word as his lips move against yours, that maybe he’s changed his mind and you’ll end up in his bed tonight, but much to your dismay he pulls away once again despite your attempts to lock him into you with your arms around his neck.
“I could get used to finally being allowed to kiss you.” He smirks.
“You could be doing a whole lot more than that, but no, you’re keeping up the whole stupid gentleman thing.” You say, irritation seeping through your words.
“You told me you wanted a gentleman.” He throws back with an eyebrow cocked, amusement clear on his face.
“Well you proved that part, I want the rest now.” You almost whine, locking your legs around his waist, trying to pull him in. You find yourself annoyed for the first time by how strong he is when he doesn't move, never before being anything other than pleased by the godlike muscles under his skin.
He simply laughs at you, noticing that you're still a tiny bit tipsy, more unrestrained than usual.
“Alright, well you’ve already become a koala, how about I carry you to bed.” He chuckles, finally moving closer to you, only to pick you up.
You feel weightless and safe in his arms, quickly deciding you would let him carry you anywhere forever, a fact that you apparently accidentally state out loud in your still slightly inebriated state.
“Oh yeah? Well you let me know where you want to be carried and I’ve got you babe.” He simply chuckles as he walks toward the guest room, finding your admission endearing. All you can do is hide your blushing face in the crook of his neck.
When he finally plops you down on the mattress of the guest room you manage to pull him down into a kiss once again, one of his hands finding your waist as the other props him up above you. His lips move slower against yours this time, becoming slightly more explorative as you feel his tongue brush against your bottom lip. You open your mouth, welcoming him eagerly, the taste of him on your tongue is intoxicating. You take one last chance at what you’ve been dying for for months, moving your hand down from his neck to slip beneath the button down that is draped over his skin. You take your time to explore the solid ridges of muscle bulging beneath soft skin, you can imagine every tattoo that your hand brushes against but you wish nothing more than to actually see them. You can’t help but moan into his mouth when you feel his grip on your waist tighten as you touch him. The sound does something to him, you can feel his whole body tense beneath your touch as you make your way to his back, raking your nails lightly down the skin.
“Please Lew, want you so bad.” You whisper against his lips.
He pulls away from you with such urgency that you're convinced he’s about to say no again. He stands tall next to you, staring at you for a moment, just taking in the sight before him. You're laid on his guest bed, your hair strewn against the pillows with your short cocktail dress riding up your thighs. He pauses for a moment, closing his eyes, you wish for nothing more than to know what he’s thinking at that moment.
“Fucking hell,” He sighs and you begin to accept defeat, “yeah, okay, yeah, I can’t act like I’m not dying here anymore, but not here.”
You feel giddy the moment you hear his words, not processing what he meant by ‘not here’ until you're being scooped up bridal style, taking you by surprise.
“Lewis, we were in a bed.” You laugh, leaning in to place soft kisses against his neck that have him faltering in his steps.
“Yeah we were, but mine is much better and if this is happening you’re staying with me for the night.” He states as calmly as he can despite the tension flowing through his body.
It's a short walk before you’re once again being placed on a bed and you have to admit he was right, his bed is much better. You whine when you feel him move away making him laugh at just how needy you are.
“Patience baby girl, gotta find a light so I can see just how amazing you look when I make you cum.” His voice is teasing but serious, making your body flood with anticipation.
Within seconds he’s flicked on a warm light, a lamp by the side of his bed, just enough so you can see him as he stands next to you finishing undoing the last few buttons of his shirt. Your mouth goes dry when he shrugs it down his shoulders and you become nervous at how you might react to seeing him fully naked. It’s not that you haven’t seen Lewis shirtless before, it’s the knowledge that now you get to touch him, you know that his skin will very soon be pressed against yours, and it's driving you insane. You reach out toward him, your hand finding the skin just above his pants before he grabs your wrist.
“What did I just say Y/N?” He says lowly as he moves over you once again, “patience.”
“Been waiting so long Lewis, I don’t have any left.” You whine, your hips bucking up towards him when he presses a kiss just below your ear.
“Mmmm,” He hums through a chuckle before his voice turns thoughtful, “how do you think i feel? Been waiting a hell of a lot longer sweet girl. I gotta savour this.”
His lips tracing your neck are teasing, just enough contact to make you squirm but not enough to satisfy the carnal need brewing inside of you. His hands feel larger than ever before as they trace over your body, groping you in spots you never knew would emit such a reaction from you. He hasn't even taken off your dress yet and he has you a whimpering mess, your hands grasping onto his bare torso. You can feel the smirk of satisfaction on his face as he kisses down your throat, his hands finally reaching for the straps of your dress.
“Do you step in or is there a zipper?” He suddenly asks, taking you by surprise as he pulls away for a moment.
“Huh?” You shake your head, trying your best to come out of the absolute daze he had just put you in.
“Your dress.” He clarifies, not that it helps you any.
“Yeah? What about it?” You ask again, eager to have his lips on you again and still not fully back in your brain.
He smiles, laughing lightly as he shakes his head, “Your dress, did you just step into it or is there a zipper I need to find. It’s so pretty, don’t wanna ruin it.” His hands are massaging your hips as he speaks, not doing much to help you actually process his question.
“Um, there’s a zipper on the side, why did you-” Your question is cut off by his lips on yours once again.
“I’m in fashion baby, I’m familiar.” He mumbles against your lips as his fingers find the zipper, gracefully undoing it before his hands are back at the straps of the dress. Once again he pauses, “You absolutely sure?”
“Positive Lewis, I want this so much.” You tell him, trying to keep your voice firm so he has no further need to question you and delay what you're so desperately seeking.
The moment he hears the words leave your lips he’s back in action, his hands lowering the straps of your dress and pushing it down your body. You become very aware of the fact that you chose to go without a bra for the dress when you see his wide eyes staring at your chest. You almost feel shy but the way he’s looking at you takes any hesitation away. Once he’s taken in his view, he’s leaning down, peppering kisses across your whole chest. You can’t help but moan his name at the feeling of his lips on your skin, your grip on the back of his neck tightening. You almost explode when you feel his warm mouth wrap around your sensitive bud, his thumb brushing gently, teasingly over the other. You aren’t sure how you will be able to actually take it when you get to what you are dying for. You are writhing beneath him, spurring him on with every little whimper he pulls out of you.
“God, the little sounds you make, fucking music.” He murmurs against your skin as his kisses begin to trail lower, making his way down your abdomen.
When he finally reaches your hip you think you truly lose your mind. The one and only thought you can muster is ‘Lewis’. He takes his time, kissing across your pelvic bone, moving lower and kissing down the tops of your thighs. Finally he begins his ascent back up, nibbling on your inner thighs as he does, this tongue tracing circles against your skin that you have a desperate need to feel elsewhere, somewhere he’s been neglecting so far. Finally his fingers hook into the band of your thong, a lacey one you chose specifically for tonight, hoping this would happen finally. He hesitates for a moment, his eyes flicking to yours for a final confirmation.
“Please.” You breath out, lifting your hips to help him remove the tiny piece of fabric.
“Fuck Y/N” He says, just as breathless as you as he takes in the sight before him. He’s looking at you with the same admiration that he had when he took your dress off.
His thumb brushes gently against your folds, enough to make you shiver and moan but not nearly enough to satisfy the desire deep in your bones. You move your hips closer to him, earning a faint chuckle but thankfully he takes the queue, parting you open for himself so he can admire the aching bundle of nerves he’s dying to pull into his mouth. He strokes against you gently, just a few flicks before his thumb is trailing down to your opening, swiping up the wetness that is pooling.
“You’re making a mess, baby.” He tells you, his voice smug.
“Well, do something about it.” You snap back at him, your brattiness coming back with full force.
“Yes ma’am.” He laughs, giving you a playful salute that makes you want to slap him.
All your annoyance however is washed away in an instant when his lips finally suction around your mound, shocking you in a way you didn't know was possible. A loud moan leaves your mouth against your will, your hands moving to grab his bedsheets in an attempt to ground yourself. He groans against you, his tongue flicking in the perfect pattern, the combination sending you onto another planet.
“Oh fuck.” You squeal when he grabs your legs and puts them over his shoulders, diving in deeper and closer than he was before.
His mouth trails down, his nose still bumping against your clit as his tongue prods at your entrance, tasting every bit of you he can. His hands are tight on your hips, keeping you in place to pleasure you exactly how he wants. You can feel your stomach tightening, it’s embarrassingly quick you fear, but then he’s slipping a finger into you, his lips latching around your nerves.
“C’mon baby, I can feel it coming, give it to me.” He mumbles against you, the vibrations going through your spine.
You moan loudly, feeling the tension in your body rise. You’re a writhing mess, no longer able to be anchored by the arm draped across your stomach with little purpose. Just when you think you’re about to hit your peak you feel a second finger slip inside you, the pair hooking in the perfect motion that makes you crumble. You’re shaking as you moan loudly, your vision becoming blurry and your ears ringing as you come undone. His fingers never stop their torment, working you through it to ride out the high. When you finally come back into yourself Lewis is kissing along your thighs and leaving soft kisses to your overly sensitive core, his tongue dipping into you every now and again with a smirk.
“That feel okay?” He asks you when he finally sees you watching him, his tone dripping with the ever cocky ego of his.
“Oh shut up.” You giggle, pushing at his head as you burrow your head into the pillow next to you.
“Hey, c’mon now, don’t try to hide from me.” His voice is much closer than it was before and when you turn your head he’s directly above you, hovering over your face with a blissful smile that makes your heart clench.
“Don’t go getting too big of an ego, I needed a good fuck.” You giggle before his lips come down to meet yours.
“Mmmm, well first of all, just so you know, you taste divine and you look immaculate when you come,” He begins, mumbling against your lips before he trails down to your neck, “second of all, you haven’t gotten the good fuck yet darling,” With that he pulls away to look you dead in the eyes, “think you can handle that? Dying to know how incredible you feel.”
Within seconds you’ve gone from content mush to a horny animal again. You don’t know how your brain let you forget about the best part, you needed to feel him.
“Yes, oh my god please.” You breathe out, bordering on begging but you couldn’t care less in the world in that moment.
Your hands begin to move blindly, trying to find his belt buckle but just fumbling with nothing as you get distracted kissing him once again. He smiles, a genuine kind smile as he pulls away from you, sitting back on his heels to undo his pants himself. There’s something about the genuine happiness on his face that makes your heart clench and your stomach flip. He doesn’t just want a quick fuck, he wants you, he’s happy that its you. It’s not the cocky grin of a man who sweet talked some chick into his bed, it’s the genuine smile of a man who finally has the girl he’s been pining over for a year in front of him and finally on the same page. You’re only left to dwell on how much this means to him, to the both of you, for a mere moment, because soon he is lowering his pants and you catch your first proper glimpse of the prominent bulge threatening to burst his boxer briefs. You can’t hide your reaction, your eyes going wide when you see the size of it. You want to slap yourself, you should have known, you should have been prepared. Not only does the man exude ‘big dick energy’ in every thing that he does and says, he is usually sporting a bulge on the day to day without being hard. He clocks your reaction, a warm chuckle reverberating through his chest.
“Still sure about this?” He asks, his voice soft, catching on to your genuine hesitation.
“Can I see it?” You ask and immediately want to take it back, you feel like a teenager afraid of seeing a dick for the first time.
He laughs softly, kicking off his pants fully before leaning down to kiss you again.
“Of course, you can see it, touch it, measure it, inspect it however you want before you decide.” His words are punctuated by kisses, carrying a teasing lilt with every one.
“Stop, it’s just, your ego obviously doesn’t need it, but it looks bigger than what I’m used to.” You whine, your voice becoming shy as you attempt to dodge his kisses in embarrassment.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay,” The tease has left his tone, his voice soft and serious now, “we only do whatever you can handle, okay?”
You finally look back at him, embarrassed by your shock. The beautiful brown eyes that you meet hold nothing but sincerity, helping your nerves immensely.
“We’ll go slow, yeah?” He prompts, squeezing your thigh.
You nod, wanting desperately to connect with him that intimately. It’s been a desire burning within you for so long now you can't fathom possibly backing out, you know he’ll take care of you.
“You wanna touch it first?” He asks, his voice sincere but still causing you to laugh, making him join in with you, “Hey, I’m serious, maybe it’ll help.” You can hear the seriousness in his voice behind his giggles.
“Okay, yeah, actually that might help.” You admit, your laughter finally quieting down.
When he rids himself of his boxers you almost go through the same shock again. Firstly because of just how large he is, he’s longer than anyone else you've ever seen and so girthy you’re not sure you will be able to wrap your hand around him. Secondly because there he is, naked in all his glory, his strong thighs proudly showing muscles you could never dream of having, his beautiful torso adorned with intricate images and abs that have made you drool since the first time you saw him without a shirt.Your desire for the man in front of you quickly overtakes any hesitation you’d previously had, quickly sitting up to grab him and pull him towards you, crashing your lips against his. He moans into your mouth as your tongue dances across his. You take all your lust and turn it into gumption, reaching down and gently brushing your hand along his cock. His grip on you tightens and an almost pained whimper leaves his mouth as you do so. You take that as a good sign, reaching in between your own legs to get your fingers wet before wrapping your hand properly around his cock, stroking him gently. A groan leaves his throat as he forcefully pulls his lips away from you.
“There’s no way you just did what I think you did, is there?” He asks you, his eyes blown out, crazed with lust and disbelief.
You just giggle, swiping your thumb over his leaking tip, leaning in again to catch his lip. He lets you stroke him for only a moment before he’s pulling away and grabbing your wrist.
“It feels amazing babe, but if you keep doing that I’m going to cum.” He tells you earnestly, his forehead resting against yours as he breathes heavily.
“Well I kinda thought that was the point of this whole thing.” You giggle at him, knowing exactly what he wants but enjoying getting to tease him if only for a moment.
“The point,” He begins, pushing you down to the bed by your hips so he is hovering over you again, “is that I would rather be inside you when I do.” His words are muffled against your skin as he kisses down your neck, your brain short circuiting.
“Please.” You breathe out for what feels like the hundredth time of the night.
“I got you.” He murmurs, your legs locking around his waist.
You feel his bulbous head trailing through your folds, collecting your wetness. You almost feel as if it must be a dream, there's no way you finally got this lucky. Then you feel the slightest bit of pressure at your opening, he's not even inside you yet and you gasp.
“It’s okay, I’ve got you, we’ll go slow, you just keep telling me how you feel, okay?” He whispers in your ear.
You nod and the second he’s sure you want it you feel him pushing forward, the stretch stinging and feeling like too much yet also feeling absolutely perfect. He only thrusts about a quarter of the way in before he’s pausing.
“How you feelin’ baby girl?” His voice is soothing but you can hear the strain as he asks the question. You need him to keep going, the momentary pain melting into ultimate satisfaction.
“More, oh my god, please.” You moan out.
He finally continues, pushing into you with such care it makes your heart burst. The way he’s handling you makes it evident that this isn’t just a fuck for him, it’s a coupling, He cares more about being close to you and your pleasure than he does the rest of it. When you feel his pelvis meet your clit you clench every muscle in your body, feeling fuller than ever before. He lets out a deep groan, dropping his head into the crook of your neck.
“You let me know when I can move sweetie, but you gotta relax for me. Okay?” You can hear the tension in his voice muffled against your neck, his lips moving against your skin.
You let out a breath, working through the overwhelming feeling of being so full of the man you care so deeply about, your body finally relaxing.
“Please move Lew, I need it.” You whimper out, your nails digging into his shoulders.
“That's my girl.” He says softly, his face just above yours with a soft smile as he begins to thrust.
Within moments he has found a pace that has your toes curling and your nails raking down his back. He is hitting every single spot you need him to, stretching you to the limit in the best way possible, working you to your peak in a shockingly quick manner. He’s not rough, he’s not fast, his movements are slow and languid. If he’s not staring directly into your eyes while he whispers sweet and filthy words to you, his lips are on yours as you swallow each other's moans. You’ve never been happier to have a vocal lover than Lewis, you can tell he is loving every single second, that he is overwhelmed with how good he feels. He’s not holding back a single moan, grunt, or groan and it’s only spurring on your pleasure. He sounds so good, looks so good, and feels so fucking good. You’ve never felt quite this all consumed by a man before, he is all that exists in the moment. He is leaning down on his forearms, his large biceps caging you in and it's all you can do not to lean over and bite them. His voice is in your ear when his tongue isn’t in your mouth, his heavy cock is splitting you in two with every perfectly aimed slow deliberate thrust, his pelvis is dragging across your clit giving you every ounce of pleasure you could ever need. You can already feel your toes clenching and your walls beginning to lock him in as you brace yourself in his shoulders.
“God, you feel fucking perfect, fucking made for me. My girl, all mine, huh?” His voice is rough as he talks to you, his forehead resting against yours, his eyes boring into yours.
You can only nod, tears slipping down your face as even moans refuse to escape your throat.
“That’s it baby, just feel it. Taking it like such a good girl.”
The tone of his voice and the dirty words tumbling from his lips have your stomach clenching, you know you’re almost there and so does he. His slow and steady pattern speeds up every so slightly, still keeping the same intimacy but increasing the obscene pleasure running through your body as his hand snakes down to properly rub at your clit.
“Let go for me Y/N, cum all over my cock, I’m right here, I’ve got you, lemme feel it.” His voice is strained but soothing as he talks you to your release.
Within seconds you let out a guttural moan, your whole body tensing as you feel the coil snap. The only word that can leave your mouth is his name, a chant of ‘Lewis’ leaving your tongue as your mind goes blank. You can faintly feel his thrusts falter before his own groan is matching yours, his head falling to your shoulder as thick ropes of cum lace your walls. You have no idea how long it is that you lay there on his bed completely limp. You have a faint memory of the whimper that left your lips when he finally pulled out of you. You know there was a moment of panic when you saw him begin to walk away but you were so blissed out that you ended up focusing on how good his ass looked. What you don’t know is how long it’s been since he left or how long you’ve been laying there, now all you can think about is how badly you want him back next to you. You try to move to sit up but quickly realize the best you can do is prop yourself up on your elbows. As you struggle, Lewis comes back into the room, holding a wet cloth and a glass of water, a smile across his face as he takes in the sight before him.
“You’ve been gone for forever.” You whine, unaware if it's even true or not, doing your best not to admire the fact that he is still stark naked in front of you.
“I’ve been gone for maybe two minutes,” He laughs, making his way towards you, “honestly didn’t even think you would notice, you seemed pretty content off in some bliss land.”
“Hey, that’s technically your fault.” You weakly argue, falling back onto the bed.
“A fault I will happily take,” He smirks, leaning down toward you and pressing his lips against yours, “again, and again, and again, and again.” Each declaration is sealed with a kiss, making you giggle and very weakly try to push him away.
He finally moves away from his assault of kisses, placing the water on the night stand next to you and moving to part your thighs which immediately makes you protest.
“Lew, it was amazing but I can’t.” You whine, squirming away from him.
“Baby,” He laughs, trying to stay sweet but far too amused by your sex drunk mood, “I wasn’t trying anything, I swear, just wanna clean you up because I think a shower is pretty far from your reality right now.”
“Oh.” You mutter, not used to any of your partners ever taking the time to take care of you afterwards. It was usually you realizing a little while later that you had to make sure you peed at the very least.
Lewis however makes sure to take extra care with you, one hand massaging your thigh as the other wipes the warm cloth against your skin. He does smirk when he reaches your core and sees you flinch the slightest bit, but even with your reaction he stays sweet and careful, caressing you in what can only be described as a loving manner. When he’s done, he throws the cloth carelessly onto the floor, something you would have thought would drive him insane, knowing he’s a tidy control freak. Instead of worrying about it, he runs his hands up your sides, kneading at your flesh in a way that somehow feels intimate but not sexual.
“Do you want to sleep like this? Or do you want some clothes?” He asks gently, placing a kiss to your stomach that once again manages to not feel suggestive somehow.
You can feel yourself getting shy. You know the answer he wants but you really want at least a t-shirt, something about sleeping naked has always made you feel weird. You hesitate for a moment, your answer apparently written all over your face because he just smiles and places another kiss against your skin before getting up and heading towards his closet.
“T-shirt or sweatshirt?” He calls out from within the closet, not an ounce of bother in his tone.
“Sweatshirt?” You answer, unsure of yourself.
“Boxers, shorts, or sweatpants?” He calls out again, unphased by your request.
“Is boxers weird?” You ask, still unsure.
“Nope!” He says, emerging from the closet, now wearing a pair of sweatpants low on his hips, his hand full of a stack of clothing for you.
“I’m sorry.” You mutter as you sit up to take the clothing from him.
“Arms up,” He says, the sweatshirt above your head ready to dress you, making you giggle, “and why are you sorry for wanting to be comfy while you sleep?” His voice is muffled through the thick fabric of the sweatshirt that he places over your head.
“I’m sure you would have rathered, I said naked.” You admit as your head pops out the neck hole making him laugh.
“Sweetie, you’re in my bed, that’s all I need. Want you to be comfortable.” He says sincerely, a soft smile on his face as he leans down to place a kiss on your forehead. “Besides I’ve always been kinda convinced that monsters will grab me if I have a foot out from under my blanket so I can’t blame you for wanting to sleep in something.”
You can’t help but let out a genuine laugh at that, knowing that that was one of your childhood fears yet it still follows one of the most fearless men you know.
“Alright, ya gotta scooch this beautiful bum.” His instructions come out soft with a soft pat to your ass as he slides the boxers up your legs.
Everything about the moment feels so loving and playful, it’s hard to imagine that this man that is saying bum and telling you he’s afraid of monsters under the bed was making you see stars and become delirious mere minutes ago. This was a feeling you could definitely get used to. Once you were dressed, Lewis was prying the blankets out from under you, attempting to make room for himself in the bed, laughing at your lack of movement.
“Okay, first note to self, she’s a damn bed hog.” He said playfully once you were both in the sheets, his arm wrapping around you in an attempt to pull you as close as possible.
“Hey, you can’t possibly already be making a cons list, you wore me down like three hours ago.” You argue, half serious, as he maneuvers you so you’re laying against his chest as he hikes your leg up over his hips.
“Not a cons list, just a things to remember list.” He assures you softly, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
“Okay, I suppose I can live with that.” You huff playfully into his chest, your fingers tracing patterns along his pecs.
He hums in satisfaction, evidently enjoying your soft touch on his skin as you cuddle further into him.
“Hey Lewis.” You grab his attention, your voice muffled with your cheek smushed into his chest.
“Yeah baby?” His voice is tired as he massages the back of your head, his other hand tracing soothing patterns on your back underneath his stolen sweatshirt.
“We’re gonna make this work, right?” You ask him, your voice timid but needing to hear the confirmation before you can let yourself fall into a peaceful sleep.
“I’m going to do everything in my damn power Love, would never forgive myself for letting you slip away” He tells you seriously even though you can tell he’s beginning to drift off.
That’s all you needed to hear. You let yourself nestle even further into him than you thought was possible, beyond happy that you finally admitted that this was your man. Nothing could ever be perfect, and while your reservations may still have some validity, nothing was better than this beautiful man underneath you and you were prepared to fight like hell to keep him.
I have what is supposed to be a one shot going at the moment. Im about half way through but I'm wondering if you guys actually want a 2 parter? I'm almost done with what I would consider Pt 1, its fluffy and angsty and would end up being about 3-4k words, the second part would be fluffy and smutty also about 3-4k word count. So would y'all like 2 parts, one angst and fluff the other fluff and smut (most likely in a few hours), or one 6-8k angst, fluff, and smut (most likely in a day or two)?
Edit: Please ignore "! part" and understand that it was meant to be "1 part"
! part or 2 part
1 part (fluff, angst, and smut 6-8k words)
2 parts (one fluff and angst, one fluff and smut, each around 4k)
I'm not that same anon and my ideas I don't think matches Sweet Escape couple, but if you're interested I would love to see my ideas come to life with your writing 💕
Please send them! I would love to try my hand at making your ideas come to life! Totally does not have to be the Sweet Escape couple by any means :) We need to create some new universes here! You can send them through anon or if you're comfortable y'all can always message me your ideas and we can talk them out!
Would honestly love to read another series from you like sweet escape but a different plot and lewis as more of a darker charecter or an enemies to lovers type of thing. It's just a suggestion though if you're not comfortable writing something like that I totally understand.
I can absolutely do this, enemies to lovers is one of my fave tropes. Also Lewis being an asshole is always fun to read and write. I will get on this! xxx
Do you take request in writing new fic for Lewis Hamilton bcz your writing is amazing, specially the serious of Lewis Hamilton
YES I do! I was just looking for some! Let me know what you are looking for! If it's our Sweet Escape Couple that you want more of, I might be able to write some more angsty or smutty scenes for them soon. (me writing the wedding has proven that I'm not good at AGGRESSIVE fluff lmao, I can do soft lovey, but wedding fluff takes me like a year hahahah)
