The beginning of pulling the Karunamaya chariot.
Pictures from the placing of Karunamaya in the chariot to the morning after.
Pictures from the final day of construction of the Karunamaya Chariot.
Pictures of the construction of the wonderful Karunamaya Chariot.
Images from a Bare Cvayegu at Kva Bahah, or Hiranyavarna Mahavihara. This is where the Nepalese Buddhists become monks for some time, however, they maintain that they typically remain monks after they are no longer wearing robes or shave their heads, etc.
Shelters for earthquake victims in Banepa who lost their homes last year, built and funded by BLIA. Most of the inhabitants have managed to get a home and move out by now.
These are some more pictures from the same trip to Devitar, with pictures from another trip to Gaihribisauna Deupur where BLIA is funding the building of Sritapesvar Higher Secondary School. 100% of this school was built with BLIA funds. Currently they have five buildings, and they are planning to build another storey to one of them.
Pictures from a day trip with some friends to help with a BLIA project to rebuild a Buddhist temple in the Tamang mountain village of Devitar.
Some pictures of a house where I enjoyed lunch, dinner and coffee on many occasions.
Some pictures from the ever noisy and busy Kathmandu.
Some pictures from the reading at the event introduced in the prior post.
A very interesting event at Chusya Bahal where Thai Theravada monks sponsored a reading of the Lalitavistara Sutra. These pictures feature the Vajrayana teacher and Vice Chancellor of Lumbini University, Rev. Prof. Dr. Naresh Man Bajracarya, and four Thai monks from the Dhammachai International Research Institute.
Some views around Patan and a first glimpse of the wonderful ratha (chariot) of Karunamaya/Rato Matsyendranath.
Views around the small but delightful town of Sanhku. My PhD supervisor, Christoph, said that the area reminds him of his childhood home in Italy.
Images from the tail end of the Vajrayogini Yatra. The umbrella floating in the air is where Vajrayogini will be placed at the end of the Yatra.
Images from the exciting Vajrayogini Yatra at Sanhku.
Caityas and advertisements for the Vajrayogini Jatra at Sankhu.
