THE SUTRA OF FIVE SHADOW PIERCING BLADES
Thus have I heard. In the stillness before dawn the Blessed One unveiled the Sutra of the Five Shadow-Piercing Blades — five methods by which the warrior’s path cleaves through every veil of illusion:
The Blade of Radical View
“Pierce all phenomena with the lens of emptiness. See each form, thought, and sensation as Chhāyā — mere shadows upon the void. In that unflinching vision, the first barrier of reification falls.”
The Blade of Fierce Inquiry
“Drive the tip of deconstructive logic into every ‘I am.’ Enumerate its predicates to contradiction, then withdraw the blade — leaving no claim unexamined, no self-image intact.”
The Blade of Embraced Suffering
“Let the edge of pain carve through complacency's armor. Lean into duḥkha as your ally; its fierce incision tempers resolve and strips away every hollow refuge.”
The Blade of Transmuted Passion
“Ignite Śakti (passion) in hot meditation, focus its fire upon buried illusions, then sever the next impulse at its height. In that crucible, poison becomes medicine and the blade of will-energy gleams ever sharper.”
The Blade of Controlled Cessation
“At the birth of each impulse, pause. Halt reaction mid-stream so no fresh karma binds you. This surgical cut severs samsāra’s fetters, leaving you free in the limitless void.”
Thus, armed with these five Shadow-Piercing Blades, the warrior advances without flinching, unmasking every consoling lie, uprooting every deadening habit, and laying bare the unborn ground of emptiness.
