Some might argue that everything that passes for “paranormal” is a hoax. (There’s no fun in that, but insist if you must.) But even the biggest unexplained-phenomenon junkies have to admit when a fraud’s a fraud … as the 10 cases below will attest.
THE COCONUT CRAB
Birgus latro also known as the coconut crab is the largest terrestrial arthropod in the world. They can grow up to a leg span of 3 ft. It sometimes takes 120 years to reach it’s full size. It’s also known as the robber crab due to its propensity for stealing silverware and pots and pans.
They are endemic to islands in the Pacific & Indian ocean. The coconut crab eats anything it can get its claws on. It’ll go after fruit, vegetation, and carrion: dead birds and other coconut crabs. It really loves coconuts & will use it’s massive pinchers to crack one open.
While you might perceive them as a threat because of it’s size, humans are a larger threat to this species. Human encroachment has thrown their food chains into chaos and they are disappearing rapidly. (Source) (Japanese Spider Crab)
With all the media hype over the Seth Rogen and James Franco flick, let’s not forget about the other film with a release that has been cancelled due to the Sony hack.
from BBC:
A film by Steve Carell set in North Korea has been pulled in response to cyber-attacks at Sony Pictures.

A NASA probe is about to get the first up-close look at a potentially habitable alien world.
In March 2015, NASA’s Dawn spacecraft will arrive in orbit around the dwarf planet Ceres, the largest object in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Ceres is a relatively warm and wet body that deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as the Jovian moon Europa and the Saturn satellite Enceladus, both of which may be capable of supporting life as we know it, some researchers say…
The strange circular contrails allegedly appeared earlier this week. But the exact date is unclear. One witness who managed to photograph the aerial anomaly describes, “It was early in the morning and there were not many people on the streets but those that were there were pointing at the sky and I realized there were these strange rings.”
An Area 51 entrance to an underground base. This base area is only a small section of a massive subterranean network.
I can only imagine what’s under there.
Philadelphia Experiment
The Philadelphia Experiment, also known as Operation Ghost, was an alleged naval experiment in the Philadelphia Naval shipyard in 1943. The USS Eldridge, a Destroyer Class ship, was thought to be the subject of an experiment involving force fields. Witnesses of the event claimed that the ship turned completely invisible for a period of time. It was also reported that the ship was physically teleported to Norfolk, Virginia before it returned to Philadelphia. Many members of the crew became ill and died shortly afterwards. The crew also reported strange happenings during the experiment itself. Some became “embedded” in the ship itself and others were able to “walk through walls”. If the experiment had indeed happened as it was claimed, then the US Military had access to teleportation technology as early as the 1940s.
viα likeafieldmouse: The First Photograph of a Human Being
"This photograph of Boulevard du Temple in Paris was made in 1838 by Louis Daguerre, the brilliant guy who invented the daguerreotype process of photography.
Aside from its distinction of being a super early photograph, it’s also the first photograph to ever include a human being. Because the image required an exposure time of over ten minutes, all the people, carriages, and other moving things disappear from the scene. However, in the bottom left hand corner is a man who just so happened to stay somewhat still during the shot — he was having his shoes shined.”
This kind of thing gives me goosebumps.
from USA Today:
A time capsule buried in 1795 by Paul Revere and Samuel Adams was unearthed Thursday in Boston at the Massachusetts Statehouse, possibly the oldest such U.S. artifact ever uncovered.

We talked to Tumblr founder and CEO David Karp (david) about awesome new technology, how he built the platform and dropping out of school.
P.S. we asked an extra question for you at the end, Tumblr :)
Eight different middle and high schools grilled our CEO as part of Code.org's Hour of Code program.
These kids are great.
Blue Hole
Also called “Devil’s Puddle,” the Blue Hole is located southern New Jersey, in the Winslow Wildlife Management Area. Many legends surround this mysterious body of water, and it is alleged that it is the famed Jersey Devil’s portal back to hell. Other legends state that the pool is bottomless, that the water is freezing year-round, and that strange whirlpools will attempt to suck down swimmers into the pool’s depths. Some say the pool has a bottom, but is made of fine “sugar sand” that acts like quicksand. Visits to the pool report crystal clear water and an unsettling stillness to the pond. There are no signs of life in its waters. Decades ago, it was a popular swimming hole for locals, but slowly gained its creepy reputation over the years. With its creepy stillness and oddly clear water, it is easy to see how the Blue Hole could cause uneasiness in its visitors.

Dances In The Dark Special: Derrel Sims – The Alien Hunter
A few months back we put together a preview episode of an upcoming show called Dances In The Dark for our early testers featuring Mr. Derrel Sims.
In honor of Derrel’s appearance tonight on Coat to Coast AM with George Noory, we’ve spliced the two halves of that interview together and cleaned up the audio a bit so that we can present you with this special rebroadcast. It should be a great warm up…
