So, my sister heard that the Smithsonian Castle had been yarn bombed, and since were were going into the District to give the Corcoran Gallery one last hurrah – it’s closing down 1 October due to lack of funds (the collection is going to the Smithsonian) – we figured we stop by to see.
The yarn bombing was…crazy impressive. It was intended as a way to promote an installation currently at the Sackler Gallery: Perspectives, by Chiharu Shiota.
Anyway, the yarn bombing was certainly eye-catching – we got close and my auntie was like, ‘That gate wasn’t red the last time I was down here’ – and the installation was cool. So, kudos to you, Smithsonian, your evil plan to lure us in worked. XD
The collection's actually going to the National Gallery of Art, but anyway. ;)
