Sick Songs I slept on in 2019

Normally I write a ton but I’ll let the songs speak for themselves this time. Enjoy :)

My first Kpop songs

 I was reminiscing about the beginning of my Kpop journey and I had to make a post about it. 

My very first song was electric shock. I randomly had Anna Kendrick with f(x) in my recommended videos (I’m sure I’m not the only one that got into Kpop because of that video :D) and I got hooked on the song and the video really badly :O. 

After that I listened to a bunch of f(x) songs I liked Danger a lot too but I also discovered Oh! & Gee by SNSD. Don’t tell anybody but I still like Oh! more :P

Next was No No No and it’s still the best Apink song ever. :)

This was also a video I watched a lot in the beginning, it feels like so long ago now sigh. Those were good times in Kpop.

It took me quite a while to get deeper into Kpop(in the beginning I just watched single videos but I wasn’t a full fan yet) and then even longer to get into boygroups.

My first boygroup songs I liked were VIXX - Error, TVXQ - Keep your head down, Teen Top - Miss Right and Monsta X Rush & Hero they were the first boygroup where I watched a lot of their songs and became a fan.

Anyway I’m done with my trip to nostalgia town. I wish you all a great new decade full of achievement, fullfillment and happiness :D.

The problem I have with Red Velvets red side.

I’ve been thinking about this for a while something was bothering me and when I saw the new song Psycho it finally clicked. The Velvet side of Red Velvet is very well defined and has a unique style to it that no other girl group is doing. But on the red side there’s a lot of potential that’s not being utilised. In the beginning the Red songs were high quality. Happiness is my favorite RV song to this day, Dumb Dumb an Ice Cream Cake, Roussian Roulette were also good. They had creative concepts and a lot of effort was put into the songs and MVs. 

But nowadays it’s not the same. It started with Rookie which was a huge success in korea when it comes to charts sales etc. Once SM saw that the song was selling a ton they thought to themselves why are we putting so much effort into the songs when we can just do this instead? 

Let’s just make some cheap sets and have them dance and smile at the camera a lot and have a repetitive simple song that people will remember and can sing along to. And then they started doing it more with Umpah Umpah and Power Up. Power Up really grew on me but still... Compared to their earlier songs these new ones are a step backwards not forwards. Less creative, cheaper MV, less identity in the song etc. You can grow and change as an artist but you shouldn’t abandon your identity you should build on it. 

With some of these songs I feel like you could give it to another girl group and you would not even notice that it’s actually a Red Velvet song and that would never have been possible before. And when you compare it to the Velvet side the contrast is even more visible. Being bright and happy shouldn’t be an excuse to be less artistic. SM used to understand that but now they don’t seem to care anymore. So far this new approached seems to have worked more or less for SM but in the long run I don’t think this will be good for the group. 

Red Velvet showed their talent in many of their songs so it’s just hard for me to be excited when I feel like they’re going in the wrong direction and their talent is not being used well. SM should stop being cheap that’s all I really wanted to say. 

And the new MV is out ! :D

CL is one of the people I admire most in this world. She has mastered looking cool like no other person. She’s so badass. But she doesn’t just look tough on the outside she’s also strong on the inside. Her stage presence is one of a kind. Her rapping is legendary, her voice is beautiful. She never fit into wat Kpop expects and idol to be but was still one of the biggest stars and she’s continuing to go her own way and I love it. 

She released the last 2 songs of her album today. I’ll post the songs I like the most and it would be great if you check them out :).

The number beside the title is when the song was originally completed but because of her contract situation she couldn’t release any songs. I think my favorite one is Paradox, that instrumental is really nice, but they’re all great songs. 

Here’s a song she released earlier this year with sick rapping :).

I need more NCT rap!!!

I only had a week to practise so I definitely wanna improve and maybe do a recording later. I needed lyrics for the korean part and I messed up flipping top the last page so there was an akward moment but it was all good :P. 

But I just started thinking now that I’d like more pure rap songs from NCT! The energy is just off the charts and they’re really skilled as well. Can you guys recommend me any other NCT rap songs that I maybe missed? 

Don’t get me wrong I still like their songs with vocals a lot too (Superhuman is amazing) but I do have a strong affinity for rythm and hip hop so it’s just so it would be extra special to me. I think a Taeyong & Mark rap album would be insane. :O I really need this in my life! 

I was just overwhelmed with fanboyism for a moment.

I’d be very grateful for song recomendations if there are more.

Don’t forget about CLs songs !!!!

I wanted to make this post just to remind people about CLs songs and what a amazing artist she is! She’s one of my favorite artists and I believe she will get another shot to blow up as a solo artist. It is still very sad and frustrating that she couldn’t release her music. 

Apparently there are hundreds of songs that she made in those years. These are just a few. There were a few more I wanted to post but I couldn’t find a video with just that song. But you can see videos of her leaked songs on youtube that have additional songs. 

Please don’t forget about her and be patient :)
