some talk and criticism about the new gene

not a fan tbh. at first i was like oh it’s okay i guess... i do have one dragon that could use it since i wasn’t feeling any other genes for him, but then i saw that it was a gem gene and our first gem gene in two years and i hated it

i never want to blame artists--rather, i think fr admins are providing poor direction and quality control. like how flat looking the gems on filigree look (especially in comparison to something like opal), or how low coverage and effect glowtail is. i’ve seen a lot of great bioluminescent mockups that have patches of glowing scales along the body, and that’s what glowtail really needed imo. bc right now glowtail isn’t exactly exciting--hell, for bioluminescent/glowy stuff i’d still rather use runes. and that’s even if glowtail was a treasure/baldwin gene. it being a gem gene makes it look worse, since you put it next to glimmer or opal or stained and it’s like uhhhh??

the first is loosely based off the new spinosaurus model, the second is just because i want a breed where the secondary and tertiary exceed the primary,

tried to make a female mirror accent. the small version lost all that detail i put in, so have the full-sizes too. ;v;

completed a new breeding project! was breeding for this dude for a long time. i originally intended on giving him toxin, but now i’m wondering if i should keep his shimmer...? i do love that caramel skink with spruce opal though
