Hey guys, so I wanna make a post about something kind of serious. I was made aware of something a tad concerning earlier today and I wanted to address it because it’s something that shouldn’t go unchecked. From my understanding the issue that was brought up to me has been resolved and I’m chalking it up to a mistake and not anything with bad intentions.

That being said, this is not a Callout and I’m not name-dropping anybody, and I don’t want anybody sending rude or harassing messages to anyone. That’s not the point of this post and I’ll block you if I find out you’re doing that. This is more so a general statement because everybody needs to be careful about how they navigate community spaces with minors present.

If you’re an adult and you own or moderate discord servers, you should not be giving minors access to NSFW servers where they’re exposed to explicit material. This includes art, fanfic, sexual banter about characters, etc. Adults should not in any capacity be interacting with minors sexually. You have a certain responsibility as an adult to keep minors out of spaces you’ve made for that kind of content. I don’t care how mature you think the kids and teens in your server are- it’s wrong and it’s illegal. I’m also pretty sure it’s against Discord’s TOS to allow minors into NSFW channels knowingly.

Sharing explicit content with minors as an adult is illegal, and in some cases illegal if you’re also a minor depending on the country you’re in. Even if the age of consent in their country is under 18, there are still laws that forbid the sharing of erotic content with people under the age of 18. AoC literally only applies to in-person contact and there’s usually an age limit to that (only three years or so). AoC does not protect you if you’re showing explicit content to minors over the internet. 

I get there’s a lot of minors in this community so but if you’re an adult you NEED to establish boundaries to keep them safe. Not only does allowing them in adult-orientation channels put them in danger but it also puts the other adults who are unaware in a bad position. If you’re an adult that notices children are given access to spaces they shouldn’t, PLEASE say something. Report it to discord, tell a mod, etc.

Again, this isn’t a Callout and it’s not really a single-person problem. This happens a lot in a shit ton of communities within discord and Skype. Please be safe and responsible, and if you’re a minor that’s being shown NSFW material by an adult, PLEASE go to someone you trust. That’s not normal and it’s not okay.

Adults that knowingly allow children into NSFW spaces are the problem, full-stop. Adults should have the intelligence to not bring children into channels full of NSFW content/discuss said content with them. I don’t understand how you could think adults aren’t the issue in that scenerio.

We don’t need to shut down the internet, we need to tell adults they can’t be sending hentai to kids.

its because schools are so caught up in violating students every rights to privacy that they are blatently disregarding thoes same kids safety. zoom allowes you to track eye movements. mousepad/mouse movemenst. the browser activitiy of the user. its horrifying and dare i fucking say litteral motherfucking spyware. its not a app its a fucking virus.   its so horrifically easy to guess every facet of zoom that im guessing that schools just looked at the violation features and took them in without a second throught or trial. they disregard better functioning programs like discord because they are horrified that thoes programs would give students a sliver of privacy their instistance on using zoom is a very clear direct cause of schools horrific obsession with micromanageing every single facet of a students life.  report the fucking app.  get it taken down

If you have to use Zoom, your best bet is to run it from the browser. The Zoom website will try to get you to use the app, but if you keep declining that, it will use its browser-based interface. Since browsers have much better security, they’re unable to do any kind of persistent monitoring and have almost no access to system activities. When you close the tab, you can be assured that it isn’t running.
