Rich: They're boring, really?

Lynyrd: It'll happen. All you gotta do is give it some time. Eventually they'll realize that you have to live your own life and they can't take that from you.

Lynyrd: Yeah. All they do is sit around and smoke pot. Nothing bad with that, but it gets boring after a while.

Rich: Well yeah. I've been doing the acting thing for a while and they don't want anything to mess that up. I don't mind too much I guess.

Rich: Just normal stuff. Pot, alcohol, people.

Rich: Rock'n'roll hippies. Sounds like a party

Lynyrd: Yeah. They're just looking out for you, man. But you're a grown dude now. Time for them to loosen their grip.

Lynyrd: Hey, we ever throw a party, you're totally invited to see how boring they really are.

Riley nodded; the kid made a brilliant point. He’d never thought about how the crazy ones might just need some semblance of steady calm in their lives, and once they had it, it was like an addiction they couldn’t quit. It made perfect sense. “The perfect way of wording it. I couldn’t have said it better.”

"Well," Lynyrd offered, "I'm hoping you can catch a break from that sort of shit, man." It wasn't likely in a place like this, but maybe the crazies were all too busy being attracted to each other to really focus on the ones who weren't wrapped up in their own drama, right? One could hope, anyway.

Rich: Heh, thanks.

Rich: No, my parents are VERY doting

Rich: But I had to sneak stuff sometimes.

Lynyrd: Uh oh. Doting parents can be the worst sometimes. They aren't the kind of doting parents that are so closed in that you end up hating them, are they? What kind of stuff did you sneak in?

Lynyrd: My parents are rock'n'roll hippies. They're like the exact opposite of yours.

"No hugs?" He pouted, attempting to be playful, though he probably could have used a hug. "Crashing and hibernating means wasting off-time while I’m not doing homework. Doesn’t sound fun to me.." Dark eyes looked up o the other, "Coffee, though?"

Lynyrd cringed. He felt bad about that. "Sorry. Got this thing about people touching me. No offense." And he meant that. There were very few people he wouldn't mind wrapping his arms around. His best friend was one of them. The guy he liked was another -- but even that was debatable. Axel was kind of standoffish. Lynyrd doubted he wanted to be touched, either. "Yeah, coffee. I got some studying to do so I was planning on brewing some up since I'm trying to ween myself off the Red Bull. You can come on over and we can like. I don't know. Chill and drink coffee while we do homework or whatever."

"I had this girl in college who I went out with once, she was one of the quiet, sort of real studious types. You could tell she never got much attention, because the second I tried to break it off, she just injected herself into every aspect of my life, to the point where I had to file a restraining order." Riley shrugged, smiling at the memories of life before being a famous author. He wondered vaguely if that girl was somewhere now, still obsessing over him, and the thought made him cringe. "Not as…drastic as yours, I don’t think, but a story nonetheless."

"Fuck, they're both drastic," Lynyrd said. "Sometimes people can be crazy." And it was the truth. Between his one girlfriend and two boyfriends, Lynyrd's had more than enough crazy people in his life. It seemed he was just drawn to it -- or it to him. He didn't mind that so much. He could handle jealousy and possessiveness, because he could get that way too. He couldn't handle it when there was no chemistry to back it up, or when it became abusive. "I think bad people just come into good peoples' lives. They crave that sense of normalcy, you know?"

"Well, I pride myself on my way with words," Riley said with a grin. "Mm, yes, people who cling are scary good at wrecking lives. Here’s praying that doesn’t happen."

[lynyrdmarshall]

He barked out a laugh. "Shit, isn't that the truth. Back when I was a freshman in high school, before I was out to my family and felt like I had to project this image of being straight, you know? -- I knew this girl. Jennifer. I dated her for like, two weeks, and she decided she was in love with me. She was a cheerleader and I was the literary magazine editor. We were a weird pair, but she didn't see it. She stalked me even after I came out, said she could 'fix' me or some shit. Life wrecker right there." But in hindsight, it was less of a burden and more of a life experience. Lynyrd wouldn't change it, even if he could.

Lynyrd: Bullshit. I'm impressed.

Lynyrd: Like, hella impressed.

Lynyrd: Are you one of those kids that had to grow up taking care of themselves? Like, could you ghetto rig just about anything?

Lynyrd: I can engineer the shit out of damn near anything and make a bong, but that's about it.

"I need a nap and a hug. Maybe some coffee." He sighed heavily.

"I can supply the coffee, but I have problems with hugs." Personal space and trust issues, or something like that. "Personally, though, I think crashing and hibernating is a better alternative."

That’s your deal. [He nodded slowly, taking his time to process the information given and to think about his response.] People don’t work like…machines. They don’t feel logically, don’t reason logically don’t interact logically… That’s an okay thing. The fact that humans don’t behave the way they logically should is what makes life exiting or whatever. Even if you don’t think you have reason to act the way you do or feel the way you feel, it doesn’t fucking matter. At the end of the day, I’m certainly not going to judge you for how you are, and the people that matter won’t, either, because judging is just like fixing. There isn’t anything you need to fix. Your deal is that you’re human and allowed to do whatever the fuck you want. And, if you need help getting medicine or shit, you know I’m always here to help.

Spock works like a machine. [A poor sense of humor at a poor time. Typical Lynyrd. But Allen makes him smile, and for that, he's grateful.] I'm not going to ask you to handle my shit, man. And I didn't mean to use you as a verbal punching bag, but talking it out kinda helped a bit. I guess. I don't know. I don't like verbalizing that shit. No one likes vulnerability. But I trust you. You're a trustworthy guy. You're a good guy. Part of me wonders why you don't let everyone see that.

Lynyrd: It's cold outside, man. You don't have to leave your apartment. I can come to yours.

"I hope so too, for you I mean. Because, honestly, this is just a cesspool of people grinding on each other and it’s sort of terrifying." He sighed, having not really realized how much this subject had been bothering him until just now. "Unfortunately, my constitution becomes quite weak when I drink, and that happens more often than I’d like to admit, so here’s hoping I don’t fall off the no-random-fucks bandwagon."

He couldn't help it -- he laughed. "That's like, the best description I've heard of this place, dude. Good job." And he meant it, too. When Riley mentioned drinking, Lynyrd shrugged. He had his own vices that made his will weak. He was distancing himself from it a little more every day, though. "Well, if you slip up, hopefully it's not with a crazy clingy person who won't let you live it down, you know?"

"Bigfoot?" Jay blinks a few times and then shrugs. "I think he used to.. or like he was some really big fucking bear that walked on its hind legs or something.. and now he’s dead and people still obsess. It’s like the Loch Ness Monster."

"You don't believe in the Lochness Monster?" Lynyrd appeared personally offended, but the dramatization of it all made it quite apparent that he wasn't really insulted by what Jaesung said. "How many things are you skeptical about, anyway?"
