Let's rewind to Prom Night: Max and the beautiful Beth Morales chaperoned and cheered embarrassingly loud when their Maggie Lewis won a place on the prom court! It was a magical night and he felt so much the proud father. And yes, even more than usual, he felt in his feelings about Beth... The dress, the lights, the slow dancing. He's lucky he survived the night.
The whole family (their pack)- Maggie, Harry Lewis, even Drake- were out for Founders Festival. They were having so much fun. He and Beth ended up sitting close, talking, hanging out and he just... He just... He just couldn't take it anymore! He had to tell Beth how he felt, he just had to. Before he could make his way through this love confession, Beth was kissing him! The fireworks went off! Everything was right in the world! Hand in hand, they were ready to let the kiddos knows that yes, finally.
Everything was right in the world! And then everything was wrong. Their bubble of happiness, of joy!, was burst when Frederick Bellefonte took to the stage. As soon as the pin dropped, Max sprung into action. The first priority was keeping the kids and Beth safe, second was saving as many people as they could.
It was a very dark day, most of all because it was the day that Drake betrayed them. Had Max given the kid a hard time? Yes. And had he been suspicious of his intentions? Yes. But had he truly, in his heart, thought that Drake would side with the Bad GuysTM? No, of course not. They were supposed to be a family. Worst of all, it hurt Beth so much, which turned Max's heartache into fury! (#madmax)
Soon after, Original Werewolf, Lily Khaldun (!) approached Beth with a proposal of 'safety in numbers'. It was a no-brainer to join forces with Lily's pack and they all moved into the McReid House. They also have a strong alliance with the Sparks Pack.
Then roughly 6 months into Domesdale, Thomas Willows shows up on their doorstep with a story about being in over his head, picking the wrong side and running away. He might have been injured, he might have won over Lily, but after Drake (AD, if you will)? Max did not support letting Thomas in at all. Even two years on, Max refuses to be hurt again or let anyone hurt his family like that again.
The pack are active #Resistance Members, doing all they can to get out of this mess and get things back to how they should be. Max misses their home, misses how things used to be. He wants the fight to be over by the time he finally pulls that ring out of his drawer and gives it to the love of his life, Bethany Morales.
