Two ancient zonai walking in the present day, reminiscing about the past as they walk amongst the ruin of the place they used to call home.

These are the two zonai characters created by my friend and I. They are ancient zonai.
The one on the left is Mezuna, who was the original Sage of Shadows previously banished to the Twilight Realm after the Interloper War, but found her way back to the Light Realm, although very far into the future. Her appearance has changed due to her stay in the Twilight Realm.
The one on the right is Suwanu, a former priestess of Farore, who had performed dragonification and had laid dormant until the reappearance of her friend. Although she was not originally a sage, she kept the secret stone she used for her dragonification.
I really enjoyed making the design of these characters, although picking the colors for Suwanu's clothes was more difficult than it had any right to be. Based on everything from the game, the zonai have such a great variety of potential designs, so I was able to take a lot of liberties.
My friend and I have come up with a backstory and story arc of them in the present-day Hyrule from TOTK. So I may talk about them more later. Their personalities aren't very defined yet, but we're working on it!
A dragon who's tears created oases in the desert and another that appears at dusk and dawn cross paths.
Also known as "the bad ending".
I had a thought about how sad it would have been if instead of being able to reverse Suwanu to her original zonai self, Mezuna decided to perform dragonification herself to join her friend so they could be together again.
However, when I brought it up to my friend, they got hype over the idea of having two dragons. I decided to draft this "bad ending" for them, and in the end I liked the drawing enough to fully finish it.
It was much easier to draw than I had initially thought it would be. It did take a while to color, but I like how they came out!

Here's the reference sheet for Mezuna! I'm very happy about how it all turned out and I had a lot of fun playing around with the various references I used to make everything as game accurate as possible.

Secret Stone of the Sage of Shadow: Mezuna was the first Sage of Shadow due to her talented use of shadow magic. Not to be confused with dark magic.
Vow of Mezuna, Sage of Shadow: Her vow grants the ability to use a shadow cloak, which makes the user disappear when sneaking for a few minutes or until the user interacts with a person or an object.
Abilities: Being a zonai, Mezuna has access to magic abilities she can use. Her abilities are the following:
Warp: This ability allows her to teleport short and long distances. She can also warp objects and people, but their number is limited. This ability can be seen used by Midna in Twilight Princess.
Ultrahand: This ability is the same as the one shown in Tears of the Kingdom. It was a common zonai ability. She uses it to build constructs and other machines.
Conceal: This ability is unique to shadow magic and allows her to become a shadow. This ability can also be seen used by Midna in Twilight Princess.
Shadowhand: Another ability unique to shadow magic, it allows her to make floormasters appear from shadows and control them to attack enemies.
Twilit Dagger: This is Mezuna's only weapon. It was gifted to her during her regency in the Twilight Realm. She rarely uses it as she prefers to use her magic to fight, but she would rather not have to fight at all.
Shadow Temple: The temple is located at Palmorae Ruins and only Mezuna is able to open its door. The temple is built inside a cave system. It was built by Mezuna to hide her Secret Stone at the beginning of the Interloper War.
She built it using constructs and other magic items that were commonly used by the zonai of the time. She made sure no one knew of the temple's location, not even Suwanu. There are still soldier constructs inside and a flux constructs that guards the Secret Stone.

Finally finished the reference for Suwanu! She had some minor changes done, notably her secret stone. She originally was intended to become the Sage of Light, but since Zelda kinda has it covered already (despite being the Sage of Time officially) and there being no Sage of Forest, my friend and I decided to change it. It also fits with her backstory a lot better so it all works out in the end!

Secret Stone of the Sage of Forest: Suwanu wasn't originally a sage. Being a priestess of Farore, she wasn't allowed to become one despite her possessing strong flora magic. She was only allowed to use light magic at the time.
She stole the secret stone to perform dragonification. Upon her return to her original form, she kept the stone that enhances her flora related abilities that she can now freely explore.
Vow of Suwanu, Sage of Forest: Her vow grants the ability to make vines and roots come from the ground around the user, providing a temporary shield while also dealing some damage.
Abilities: Being a zonai, Suwanu has access to magic abilities she can use. Some of them being specific to her former position as a priestess of Farore. Her abilities are the following:
Blessing: Also known as the Blessing of Farore, this is a unique healing spell only priestesses of the Goddess Farore possessed. It can heal almost any wounds.
Ascend: This ability is the same as the one shown in Tears of the Kingdom. It was a common zonai ability. She uses it to reach high places or go to the sky islands.
Ward: This ability also comes from her time spent as a priestess of Farore. This spell allows her to create a shield of light that protects her and those around her.
Animate: This ability is new to Suwanu and is a remnant from her time spent as a dragon. She is able to animate and manipulate plantlife to a certain extent.
Ceremonial Spear: This spear was originally used for ceremonies at the Spring of Courage. She kept it to use as a weapon since it's the only kind she knows how to wields.
Forest Temple: The temple is located on a sky island in the Gerudo Desert. The island is somewhat of a flying oasis; with water and rich vegetation. The island was only set to appear once certain prerequisites were met. There are no enemies in the temple, simply a stuard construct holding her journal and the secret to undo dragonification for Mezuna to find.
I wanted to practice more and decided make new OC based on @linked-maze's Twilis.
I tend to give my OC's a lot of details in their clothing and accessories (which I love but it can also be a pain to draw when I want to practice), so it was a challenge to keep it simple enough to fit in with the other Twilis, but I love how she turned out and I had a lot of fun creating her!
Here's some lore I made up for her:
Her name is Oracle and she's a powerful magic wielder; she knows a lot of obscure and niche things about magic but she's mostly known for her divinations and her ability to communicate with spirits, which is where she got her name. Nobody knows her real name, or if she can actually predict the future or speak with spirits, but she has a 100% customer satisfaction rate so far, so people simply assume she does.
She lives alone in the middle of nowhere but she lives a very comfortable life. People come see her often to seek her help with various things; learning magic, divinations, séances, finding lost objects or pets, information and plenty of other things. She doesn't mind helping people in exchange of a small fee; she accepts money, food, rare items, ancient books, and anything useful in exchange for her work. Depending on the request, she might even just do it for free if it's easy enough, like a magic transfer for example. She also goes into nearby towns every once in a while to buy food and other goods, so people often give their requests to her then.
When asked where she comes from, she claims to be a part of the bloodline of the first regent of the Twilight Realm, but everyone knows the first regent never had any descendant, so her origins remains a mystery.
I needed to practice with backgrounds and perspective so I decided draw Oracle's house based on the @linked-maze's Twili lore while also adding my own little spin on it.
It was a lot less tedious to do then I originally thought it would be; I still need some practice but I already did much better than I thought I ever could, so I'm quite proud of it!!
"Even after all this time, your eyes are still the same."
I wanted to draw a detailed version of their eyes since they always end up looking the same when that's not the case at all. Mezuna's eyes are sharp and peer into your soul. Suwanu's eyes are softer and her gaze is more gentle by comparison.
When Suwanu's draconification was undone, she immediately recognized Mezuna's eyes despite the rest of her appearance having changed due to having been in the Twilight Realm.
This is a Zelda AU set after the events of Tears of the Kingdom and follows the story of Mezuna who is trying to reunite with her friend. She won't be alone in her adventure, but the she might not be accompanied by the people you'd expect!
This AU will be made up of mini comics that will piece the story together. I'm really excited to get started on them and I hope others will enjoy this little story too!
