I just saw the post from @/orcboxer talking about an autism test question that starts with "People tell me [...]" and him saying "I'm extremely [...] but people don't tell me that generally [...]."
And I totally get it. No matter the test, I hate these questions so much. People don't tell me anything. And if they do, it's not proper constructive feedback.
So, I can only answer these questions by turning "People tell me" into "I think I am."
But that isn't right either. To come back to the autism test, my way of speaking and my other habits are completely normal to me, but I am self-aware enough to know that others may perceive me as odd. So, I'd actually have to mentally turn the question into "I think other people think [...]" but like, my perception could still be off and in the end it's just me overthinking.
I'd actually have to ask them myself, but people tend to avoid confrontation and sugarcoat things, and if they do genuinely have an issue with you, they just beat around the bush by giving you unprompted advice.
...if people do actually open their mouth and say what they mean, they just call me the r-slur and I know it's time for me to go.
