Demos Mimi Played from June 2026 Next Fest! (11-15)
Demos 1-5 Demos 6-10 Demos 11-15 (you are here!)
Monster Hatcher by Monkey Cube -> My initial impression was "ok cool, nodebuster kinda upgrade tree, plays like this mining game I've played, not sure if the little monster farm is gonna make it better than other ones but alright." Usually that'd make me decide I'm done with the demo pretty early, but I decided to keep with it to see what's going on with the battle arena. And! It wasn't worth it tbh, despite being another mode it didn't make the game feel any better than the other nodebuster-y games. + Lots of systems to level, I like the little monsters - Boring, there are loooooots of games like this. Nodebuster burnout sucks! -> Won't buy, there are too many games similar to it.
Drillbound by TimeSeeker -> Only reason I downloaded it is bc mmmmm incremental games. Always on the hunt for those! Haven't really found one that plays like this, it takes a bit of getting used to but dropping the drill and dodging the retaliation of the caves is pretty fun! The smelting system also sets it apart from the other node upgraders. + It's fun to weave between attacks, the sound design is so nice and crunchy, loops are fast so having a bad run doesn't suck as bad - Still a node game, so progression is kind of linear and there's no room for builds (as far as I know). -> Probably won't grab until later, I have a feeling it'll be bundled in with a bunch of incremental games in the future.
Mothkeep by Ivette Schmidt -> I love entomology (hell I have a degree in it) so I am basically required to play any bug-related game. So yes! I'm gonna play the game with moths!!! It's all about looking for moths, and it's really cool how the game includes more than just the adult stages. There's just a nice calming feel to this one, the simplicity of it is perfect. + Moths! The timing feels spot on, the game is relaxing, and there is a huuuuuuge variety of moths from what I can see. - Nothing really! -> High Chance that I pick this up near launch!!! Graaaaah bugs!!!!!
Stop & Smell the Flowers by Bread Factory Games -> Forgot why I downloaded this, guessing that I got it bc it's some kind of incremental. I like it! + Cute, easy to understand gameplay loop, big fan of the mutation system and I can't wait to figure it out more. - Wish I could see if a plant has any remaining mutations, I keep having to flip between the collection and my inventory. -> High Chance that I buy this on/near launch, it's very cute and I need a good simple mutation game.
Grass Chopper by Grass Choppers -> hnnnnnng incremental game. I haven't played a ton of side scrolling incrementals (have played a lot of 2d ones though) and I knew that grass and gardening related games usually have some nice crisp audio, so why not! Plays exactly like expected, really like how they give you the dash pretty quickly. I can already tell I'll like the humor of this game, and even though it uses nodes I like the style of them! Cool vines. + Quick and easy tutorial (works on controller!!!), even with no music the atmosphere is very strange in a good way, and the slower attack speed makes the attacks feel kinda weighty! OH I also like the inclusion of what I've been calling the allergy meter! Makes it so you can't stay in the grass for too long hehehe. - No real music is a personal downside for me, but it doesn't impact the game too much. -> High Chance I buy this around launch bc I need a nice incremental that isn't an idler!
