“You keep running into danger,” The man slowly walking behind you stated, his eyes trailing your form with a feel of secrecy.
You slightly turned to glance at him, his usual warm, disarming smile plastered upon his lips.
“I guess I just attract strong people, huh?” Shrugging without another thought, a small confident smirk crawled onto your lips.
“Still, you’ve got to be careful of your surroundings. You have a habit of letting your guard down easily” The male, who had just made it to becoming the fourth Hokage, spoke with a hint of worry for his childhood friend who’d been training with him since forever.
You might’ve been strong, but you’ve been careless more times than he can count.
“It’s fine, Minato. I’m with you, aren’t I? Then I’ve got nothing to worry about” You dismissed him, not a second thought in that head of yours.
Minato hummed, his eyes lowered for the quickest second, clasping his hands behind his back as the two of you made it towards the Hokage tower.
“I wonder about that. It’s safe to have your guard up around anyone, you never know what’s going on in their mind.”
You halted, turning around with a curious raised brow. “Yeah? And what goes on in your head?”
A small chuckle escaped Minato’s lips as he continued walking. “The safest way to keep someone safe..” His eyes lingered on you as he walked past, his voice quiet but steady. “..is by keeping them where you can always reach them”
Feeling a tiny tingle on your spine, your stare lingered on his back for a moment, before quickly catching up to him with a short laugh.
“You really do worry too much, Minato! Fortunately for you, I’m not some fragile vase, I can be as tough as you want me to be against any opponent!”
Unfortunately, the web of plans I’ve been weaving to keep you all to myself will have to wait a little while.
