Unromantic Valentine’s || Marina & Kelly
It was nice for Marina to be doing something on Valentine’s. For the longest time she had absolutely nothing to go on, and after her fail of a marriage it’s understandable why it became the date she had strong repulsive feelings for. So, in her preparation for a movie night with Kelly and in honor to their marathon, she googled what were some of the most unromantic movies there could be and thought that it could be something entertaining to do at the very least. Unusual, of course, though, very little could be considered common when it came to her anyway.
It was funny that someone had already gone through the trouble of making a list with the top ten “most unromantic movies to watch on valentine’s day”, and she thought of checking that out to see what she could leech out of it. “John Tucker must die” she read the first title out loud, thinking that one movie was kind of funny, could be worth re-watching. The second on that list was “He’s just not that into you”, which she could pass, “That Awkward Moment” had seemed... Slightly promising when she watched the trailer a while back, she thought she had never watched “Think like a Man”, “Monster in Law” had decent moments, but she could also do without, she also wasn’t familiar with “Diary of a Black Mad Woman”, “The Stepfather” or “The Hitch”, “Friday the 13th” could be replaced by “My Bloody Valentine” and there was “The Amityville Horror” that she hadn’t had a chance of watching either.
“I think I’ve got about eight titles for our unromantic movie marathon. Would you like to see if you can narrow that down?” she texted.

Kelly: That works for me. Bring that over!
Marina: Okay, I could do that.
Text to Marina
Kelly: Well since it'll be Valentine's Day, it'll be a bunch of Nicholas Sparks and RomComs.
Marina: Yeah, I'm more of a My Bloody Valentine kind of girl...
Text to Marina
Kelly: Any particular movies you'd want to watch?
Marina: I don't know. What would Netflix recommend us?
Text to Marina
Kelly: Alright, good to know.
Kelly: Thought you could come over for dinner and a movie?
Marina: Comes in handy.
Marina: Sure. What do you need me to get?
Text to Marina
Kelly: I didn't want to assume and offend you.
Marina: For future reference, I'm not offended by a whole lot.
Marina: So, what are the plans?
Text to Marina
Kelly: Haha. No, not really. Just curious to see if you were free that night.
Marina: Like I told you, I'm generally always free.
Text to Marina
Kelly: I think that's an alcohol reference??
Marina: Touché!
Marina: I have a feeling that wasn't exactly what you wanted to know though?
Text to Marina
Kelly: hey, what are you up to this Valentine's Day?
Marina: Well, I thought of giving one of my boys a chance to come out of the cabinet after a while.
“You know you’re not in good physical condition when you go jogging for like forty minutes and you come back feeling like you’ve been spending a couple days at the Sahara desert,” she said throwing some water on her face.
One time I was playing the sims and I wanted to make me and mike but I wanted to make us separately and have us meet. But when I moved into my house, I had this sexy ass neighbor. I figured I could have a fling with him and break it off and get with Mike later but then the neighbors kid got attached to me and I couldn’t just end it when I was so close to his daughter. I really cared about him too.
So the only thing I could do was have it end in tragedy. That way I wouldn’t have to break up with the guy and I could adopt his daughter to stay close to her. He passed away peacefully on fire in the kitchen. Now in previous games, when a kid is taken away by CPS, the next kid you adopt is the same kid. Welp that didn’t carry over into sims 4 so the daughter ended up being taken away and erased from the game by the great sims deity.
I’m a sentimental man, so I kept neighbor mans tombstone around. I’d occasionally chat with his ghost, but he seemed cold to me. I can’t help but thinking he was a bit mad his daughter no longer existed. But this escalated once I started seeing Mike. His ethereal visits became more frequent and more hostile, usually breaking my electronics or creating a mess. But he went overboard when he started the fire.
Being a sim the died in a fire, his ghost had certain abilities specific to his death (setting fires). He got pissed because I kissed Mike so he set my couch on fire that ended up barricading us in the bedroom. Now I couldn’t find the fire alarm in buy mode and I hadn’t had the foresight to predict my spiteful ghost died-in-a-fire ex boyfriend would be an afterlife arsonist to care about it that much so a lot of the house had burned by the time I could get the FD there.
After having almost nothing covered by insurance (thanks Obama), Mike sat me down to have a talk with me. While I couldn’t understand him, I imagine he said “What the fuck you need to deal with your crazy ass ex boyfriend ghost. This never would have happened if you weren’t a thirst little sim bitch and dated me first.”
I approached the grave. It was time to release him. He was waiting for me. He knew this was the end. That after this, there was no coming back from the afterlife. I know he tried to kill me, and he knows I got his daughter deleted, but at that moment, it was just like old times. Telling each other jokes 27 times in a row until he would have sex with me.
We had a final ghostly embrace and he was gone. I sold his tombstone for 300 bucks and bought a microwave.

You don’t consider that a positive step?
“I consider that a step.”
“Typically I take things slow, but lightening speed sounds hella more fun.” Nick smiled fondly at her. “Hope you have a wonderful day, miss–I’m sorry, I don’t think I’ve got your name.”
“Believe me, they’re not always fun.” she said shaking her head. “But maybe that’s just me. I’m Marina.” she supplied the answer to his sort of question.

Gosh, what did you hear?
Kelly?
We went out once. There’s nothing more than that.
The Italian Delight || Marina & Kelly
“I’m not certain whether they have all of those in tapes. In fact, the spectators couldn’t care less about what I do or don’t do. It has advantages, since I often get to mind my own business without external interference. The clear disadvantage is that sometimes they spend so much time focusing on the same people, with the same dramas, it’s like they’re the real stars of the show and we’re there just as people who fill in positions. Although we might have lives that are far more interesting than theirs, since we’re not part of a ship or our past isn’t all unicorns and rainbows, I feel like I can do a naked hula and still nothing would happen.” she said with a heavy sigh; this was one of the things that frustrated her about Poise, though she opted not to say anything else about it.
“Don’t you think it’s incredibly paradoxical to be forced to have a hobby?!” the blonde inquired. “In my case I know that my parents were making me do things that would look good on my ‘be a wife’ resume. Which would likely lead to achieving an useless Ivy League diploma I would never be required to use, since my life would be all about sipping mimosas somewhere like the Hamptons or Cabo.” Marina explained. Had she chosen to live her life according to the plans her parents had made for her, she would be living quite the lavish life, without ever having to worry about money or anything even remotely like it. It was a lifestyle most people could only dream of having, and she willingly gave it up.
There was an answer to the reason why she wasn’t currently pursuing the career as a writer, and it was intimately related to her personal life. With most things going downhill for her at the moment, her will to sit down long enough to write was on the slumps. “It’s not that that isn’t something I don’t want to do; I would really like it, but, my muse has been cantankerous, therefore, I have nothing to go on with…” she supplied. “And believe me when I say that no one would be interested in my love life… Or, well, more precisely, on the lack thereof.” She shook her head. Details on the last time she had actually been with someone were rather hazy – that’s how long it had been for her.
“I think the same people just keep getting into the same old drama. The show needs ratings, so they’re gonna go where there is fighting and disagreements.” he was about to add in something else but their waiter came by for their drink orders. Kelly let Marina put hers in first before getting himself a Dr. Pepper. The waiter promised to bring back bread and butter for them to snack on while they looked over the menu. That’s when he realized he had been so wrapped up in talking with Marina that he hadn’t even opened his menu yet. Chuckling, he gestured to the un-opened booklet in front of him. “Guess we should probably read these, huh?”
“I do. But on the other hand, I know that I was a lazy kid. So if my parents hadn’t forced me to get up and do something instead of playing video games all day, I wouldn’t have done it on my own - y’know? I think some pushing is good, if the kid isn’t motivated by themselves, like me. But if the kid is motivated and is already involved in a lot of stuff, parents don’t need to add un-needed pressure onto them.” He mulled over her words about the ‘wife resume’. “I feel like that’s such old fashion thinking. I mean, no offense to your parents of course. But I mean, if a woman wants to play soccer or major in medicine - which are typically male dominated fields, let her. Doesn’t make her any less feminine or mean she won’t be wife material.”
Their drinks came soon and he thanked the man with a smile and a quick nod. Parker gestured to the bread bowl, letting Marina take a roll first before he got himself one and a small packet of butter onto the small plates they had set in front of them. He glanced over at the menu as he cut the roll in half, deciding he’d get the salmon dish. “Honestly, my muse hasn’t been the best lately either. I’m hoping though now that the stress of the Holidays are gone, I’ll be able to focus again and think of some articles. But just so you know, you don’t have to write about your love life. I don’t write about mine. I do other love or dating related topics, just never about my own.”
“I think even if there’s a pressing need for ratings, if you keep talking about the same people, the same drama all over again, people are going to get tired of it. I know I get, and I avoid watching the show on a general basis.” she said with a shrug. Ever since she had her mental breakdown in 2014 she had been careful over the things she ended up watching of her colleagues. Part of what she had seen during those moments really didn’t help making her mental state become any better, so, there were reasons why she did it. As the waiter came along, she thought about what she wanted to drink and decided to go with a full grape juice, since it tended to go well with pasta. “Have you ever been here?” she questioned, wanting to know whether he knew the place and had any idea what would be a good thing to order.
“My parents were always forcing my sister and me into doing a number of things. We needed to look our best and appear the best we could be, so, I remember ballet, I remember cotillion and if I try really hard, I’ll probably remember lots of other things we had to do over the years.” she said with a shake of her head. “And, my parents weren’t really interested on us having a personality. They were merely interested on making us marry someone that they could easily manipulate to take over the family’s conglomerate once my father retires from it. We shouldn’t be having opinions or anything like it, we were just there to be trophy wives.” the woman spoke about the life she lived when young, and to her it made sense that it was something she would just pass.
Taking the bottle of olive oil the blonde poured some on her plate before taking a small part of the bread and running through it, putting the piece in her mouth. She heard what Kelly had to say about his creative process as well and nodded a couple of times. “I can understand, but, I don’t even have people that are all that close to me to make the holidays any kind of rush. I tend to get my sister something, and that would be all. I haven’t had a proper celebration or an actual Christmas tree or feast ever since my ex-husband left. Since it’s just me all the time, I see no need to make a special occasion for it. And, I suppose this is one of the reasons why I want to trade sectors and go to fashion trends; fashion trends is not something that requires me to have anything in order to write about it. Dating and love life?! Well, I have neither, so I would feel like a complete hypocrite giving people advice on how to maintain relationships when it’s not something I can do.”
“That’s great news! I mean, if sixty is the fastest we can go of course.”
“I guess that will depend. Certain stuff here have really happened at like... Lightning speed. So, I think it all comes down to the kind of person you are.”
