âI will drink to that.â He tipped an imaginary glass in Mackâs direction. Had they been at a bar he would have clinked the glass and downed the liquor, but he was on the clock still and while there was a lot that people could critique about his working methods, professionalism was not one of them. At least in the sense of drinking on the job. He took a deep breath in and looked Mack directly in the eye. âNo. Not even close.â He hated saying itâŠit felt like admitting he couldnât do something, but he was trying. âEverytime I think Iâm close, something else comes along and messes up that theory and then Iâm back to square one.â He bit his bottom lip in a moment of thought. âI will find out. Iâll do whatever I have to in order to find out.â
Mackâs lips curved upwards into a smile when she saw Brian raise an imaginary glass. The guard used her power to make it seem as if they really did have glasses in their hands. âDonât worry, even with it being imaginary I still did it to where itâs water in the glass.â She said winking at the scientist. Mack let out a sigh and shrugged, she didnât know what exactly it was that she was expecting him to say, it wasnât that she minded that Alexa didnât have a power, she just wanted to know why she didnât. âIsnât that how it always goes? We get close to something and then just like that itâs taken from us. I just... I guess I just want to know if I did something wrong.â She admitted.Â
