Mentally Ill Mother Throws Newborn Baby To Ground In Extremely Disturbing Video

Disturbing video footage of a Memphis, Tenn. mother abusing her 19-day-old child surfaced earlier this weekend on Friday (July 24).

In the video, the mother is seen repeatedly hurling baby Christian to the ground while chanting religious sayings, praying and calling on God. The video also shows her encouraging her daughter, who is seen sitting in her lap, to copy her violent behavior. The loud shrieking cries of the infant are heart rendering as the abuse continues. She is also seen dragging him around by his arm.

Black Students Face Harsh Discipline; White Students Given Help

A new study shows the Black students are disciplined a lot different than their white counterparts... *sigh*

The Sociology of Education journal released a study last week that shows Black students are more likely to be punished with expulsions, suspension and even referrals to law enforcement. Meanwhile white students are more likely to be offered medical and psychological treatment or placed in special education classes.

David Ramsey, an assistant professor of sociology and criminology at Pennsylvania State University, conducted the study by analyzing the rates of expulsions, police referrals and suspensions of 59,000 schools across the country. Ramsey also counted how many students in the same schools were enrolled in the Individuals with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The two programs are set up to help students that require special services.

It was found that schools with a large population of Black students had higher rates of suspensions, while schools catering to a large group of white students had more children in the government programs for special services.

L.A. Gang Launches Bet To Kill 100 People In 100 Days, #100Days100Nights

The death of Rollin 100s gang member Kenneth “KP” Peevy has inspired leaders of the Los Angeles-based Crips sect to challenge members and a rival gang to kill 100 people—innocent or gang members— in 100 days, the Daily Beast reports. Reportedly, the targets will be people walking or driving between the streets of Western and Normandie in Los Angeles. Law enforcement officers say that they’re aware of the challenge, and they’re taking the threats seriously.

According to StreetGangs.com, Peevy, 27, was gunned down on Friday, July 17. Relatives of the full-time single father, however, say that the challenge is disgusting.

“It’s making him look like a bad person. It’s not like he started this and got killed behind it. He had no control over what’s going on with #100Days100Nights,” a family member who asked to remain anonymous said. “He was always in his (son’s) life, from walking him to school in the morning to walking to pick him up from school.”  ---> Read The Full Story

I Was Arrested For Knowing My Rights And I’m Speaking Out About It Now

I think anyone who has been handcuffed and uncomfortably seated in the back of a police car or van asks themselves this question. Whether it be an internal inquiry or one loud enough for the world (or just a few onlookers) to hear. That’s exactly what I asked myself after I was arrested at the age of 16 for doing absolutely nothing.

I attended a Catholic high school, participated in New York parks youth council and also took part in a non-profit theater organization. Yes, I was your type A good girl with Brooklyn sass. I wore a uniform, turned assignments in on time, helped put teams together to beautify the park, and was an all-around ambitious young lady. I was on the bottom of the totem pole as far as the troubled kid scale goes.

So how does a straight-A student land herself amongst shoplifters, prostitutes and fiends suffering from withdrawal symptoms in a crowded holding cell?

I asked a question. I used my brain. I requested a name and badge number. I acted within my rights.

Nearly eight years after that harrowing day and the feeling of being accosted, the sound of torn fabric as my jacket ripped while the officer shook me into the street, and the feeling of a car slamming against my thin frame as I was pounded into it and placed in cuffs is still there. That’s why each arrest and death of Black and brown people instantly sets off a mental trip for me. It’s a trip I rarely discuss. Until now.

Sandra Bland's Mother Eulogizes Daughter, Prepares To Fight

In remarks delivered at her funeral, Sandra Bland's mother discussed her daughter's character and readied herself to fight for justice.

18-Year-Old Kindra Chapman Found Dead In Police Custody

Like #SandraBland before her, police say the cause of death was suicide.

A petition on change.org, calls for full disclosure and full accounting of all the interaction between Chapman and the Homewood Police Department stating:

“We are calling for a meeting with any and all investigating officers so that we ourselves can relate that information of the Homewood Police Department to our communities. This issue is brought up because of the scant information that has been released on such a serious matter through the media. We feel there are consistent and persistent patterns of police mistreatment in the state of Alabama that are not always addressed particularly as it pertains to Black Women.”

Six Black Lives Matter protestors were arrested in front of the city jail, to protest the reported suicide of Kindra Chapman.

Georgia Trans Woman Sues Prison System AGAIN After Repeated Rapes

Fans of the show “Orange Is The New Black,” have watched the struggles character Sophia Burset endures in prison, whether it’s being denied hormones or being abused by other inmates.

While she has her challenges, life is much easier for her character than it is for other trans inmates. Like so many trans women, 36-year-old Ashley Alton Diamond is living in a men’s prison. Diamond, who was imprisoned in 2012 for a series of burglary and theft convictions, has alleged that her status as a trans woman has made her the victim of repeated rapes from male prisoners.

As a result Diamond alleged that she has attempted suicide and even tried to castrate herself with a razor.

Later, Diamond told a federal court, “I would rather die” than be raped again. She added that the assaults made her “feel a little less than human-like.”

A 26-year-old Canadian woman, Nafisa Kaptownwala, is taking the diversity issue in the modeling industry to heart. Kaptownwala recently launched the world’s first exclusively non-white modeling agency called Lorde Inc.

Based out of London, Lorde finds most of its models the old-fashioned way, on the streets. And so far, the agency is finding success in its unique business model.
