sorry if this is strange but finding your blog made me realize I haven't seen an immersive daydreamer whos older than like mid 20s. I guess I just never thought of daydreaming as something that could still be a part of me (that I like) when im older, rather than like residual mental illness from highschool. I have a lot to reconsider now. very cool blog btw

Oh absolutely, one of the reasons I wanted to start this blog was because I didn't see much from older ID'ers out there and since I figured out a lot of it before I had access to the internet my views or insights might be helpful. Not that I've posted nearly as much as I have wanted to but your ask definitely makes me feel inspired to actually write the stuff down I've been meaning to and post it.

In college I posted on live journal and there wasn't much interaction (I don't think MADD or ID were being used as terms back then) but I remember a post I made the about how my daydreaming would always be a part of my life no matter what happened, even if I got married or had a career or moved and all of that has happened and I'm still an immersive daydreamer and it still makes my life better.

Certainly a big part of that is that I was born with a disablility and I've had surgeries all my life and none of that ever went away. I live with a lot of pain and anxiety and trauma and yeah my inner world and imaginary friends help me cope and keep my life on track but even when I feel well and life is going well, immersive daydreaming is a part of my life and helps me figure out things about myself and the world beyond coping and surviving.

Hopefully I can post more on my blog like I have been planning but if you or anyone reading have any other questions that can serve as a catalyst for me to write about my experiences and hopefully help others out there. Your ask isn't strange at all. It made my day! Thanks for stopping by 💞

oh so when im trying to do important things the daydreams demand my attention but when im trying to think of plausible things to happen in the story i'm writing NOW the daydreaming decides to take a step back? i see how it is 🙄

sometimess ill get sad or anxious and try to daydream "what would [para] say in this situation to cheer me up or encourage me" and it's always much funnier when it's a character who is morally gray at best or just straight up evil. it's like "oh [para], i'm so scared i won't pass math this year" and blorbo in my head who brutally slaughtered a hundred thousand people will say "your teacher will be cut down by my blade"

i like to think of my ocs living in my brain like its neko atsume. a few come to visit me and im delighted! i take pictures of them and give them treats and then they leave and then other ocs show up, and some are frequent visitors while others are a Rare sighting but i still love them all

Hey so I know we All Know This but I will NEVER be over a character being feverish and delirious and making No sense. I will never be over a glittery-eyed, shivering, distressed character weakly gripping another's arm and asking them questions they don't know the answer to, and probably don't mean anything at all. I will never be over characters calling out for people either long gone or right next to them, but unrecognizable in their delirium. I will never be over a character crying in frustration and fear over something in their head they can't explain to whoever is helping them, and all they can do in return is stroke their hair and shush them gently.

ok hear me out, Ceilings is a madd/id song to me- especially for daydreamers who feel alone irl and take comfort in romantic paras.

But it's over, and you're driving me home/and it kinda comes out as I get up to go/You kiss me in your car/and it feels like the start of a movie I've seen before.

But it's not real, and you don't exist/and I can't recall the last time I was kissed/It hits me in the car/and it feels like the end of a movie I've seen before.

I love my paras so much, they've gotten me through the the worst parts of my life, but sometimes it hurts to remember that they only exist in my head. That my "happy place" is just me lying alone in the dark having fake conversations and gesturing at nothing. I wish I could bring them into the real world and hug them and thank them for everything.
