Stumpy (ID Number X163) is an orca from Norway. She was first spotted in 1996, and people assumed she had been hit by a boat. She has a severed dorsal fin, and a deformed spine. This is thought to be the reason for her stunted growth, as she is still the size of a calf. People assumed she wouldn’t survive. In 2002, her mother had vanished, and Stumpy was seen with another pod. Since then, she has been seen with 4 different families. Because of her deformities, Stumpy cannot hunt for herself. These families take care of her by sharing food with her. She was witnessed hunting with an adult female in 2012. The other orca would catch a salmon, bite it in half, and let the other half float to Stumpy, despite easily being able to swallow it whole herself. Researchers believe that this is the reason Stumpy has been able to survive for so long. x x Please correct me if I have made any mistakes!
Has Stumpy been seen recently?
And the fact that this animal has survived for so long just shows how important their social life is to these animals. Humans could take a big leaf out of their book in terms of caring for others.
WHO’S THE REAL ANIMAL?
(trick question, it’s both)
whenever my dad makes pancakes he always makes a tiny baby one for our dog
