A clinical psychologist brought in to consult with authorities.

Believes there’s a scientific explanation for the deaths.

Rational to a fault—but beginning to fray.

Has a personal reason to deny the supernatural.

Amari & Ruth (The Twins)

“He loves us. That’s why we see Him everywhere.”

Teenage twin girls who follow Him from city to city.

Claim He speaks to them in dreams.

Their eerily synchronized behavior unnerves everyone.

One seems sweet. One seems cruel. Both know more than they should.

A once-popular televangelist now disgraced.

What type of parent would the Ros be?

Good question....

✝️ Father Isaac Rowe

Type: Stern but soft-hearted dad.

He’d be strict about manners, respect, and moral lessons, but he’d also secretly spoil his kids when no one’s looking.

The kind of father who says “no dessert before dinner”… only to sneak them a cookie in the kitchen five minutes later.

His biggest fear: passing on his own conflicts with faith and guilt to his children.

🚬 Detective Jonah Redd

Type: Protective and overinvolved dad.

He’d 100% become the dad who grills every date at the door, no matter how old his kids get.

Loves telling stories, often way too dark or grisly for kids, but somehow makes them funny.

A bit overbearing, but his kids would never doubt they’re loved.

He’d be the type to fall asleep in a chair waiting for them to come home safe.

🎙️ Silas Wren

Type: Chaotic best-friend dad.

His house would be the hangout spot. Kids would love him, other parents would side-eye him.

Encourages creativity, weirdness, and curiosity—probably helps his kids start a band or podcast before they’re even 10.

Not the most responsible, but he’d fight the world for his kids’ happiness.

🧠 Dr. Elaine Marrow

Type: Analytical, nurturing, but quietly anxious mom.

She’d always be paying close attention, trying to read her kids’ emotions and making sure they feel understood.

Has the "teacher voice" down pat. Her kids would know one look means “stop now.”

She’d raise them to be sharp, empathetic, and thoughtful.

Probably overthinks every stage of parenthood

Type: Gentle, mystical, almost otherworldly mom.

She’d raise her kids with deep traditions, stories, and rituals. Her household would feel sacred, warm, and protective.

Very intuitive, her kids would think she can literally read their minds.

Both nurturing and eerie: she’d scare off bullies with one glance.

She’d treat motherhood as a spiritual bond

Type: Possessive, eternal, overwhelming parent-figure.

Not really a "parent" in the traditional sense

If MC ever had children with or around Him, they’d be marked as His, whether anyone likes it or not.

His version of “parenting” is not teaching independence, but ensuring they’re forever bound to Him.

Terrifyingly protective.

Whether that’s comforting or horrifying depends on your perspective…

Marriage update??? 💗

Hellooo I know I've been inactive, but the wedding planning is more stressful than I thought. We're finalizing a lot of the details and vendors because we don't want to wait till too close to the time to find out that they are now unavailable for our date. I'd say we've completed 75% of all the preparations. I promise you guys, I've been working on all my demos whenever I have downtime!

Before MC: Fears he’ll succumb to temptation and fail his vows, dishonoring his faith and becoming a hypocrite.

After MC: Fears losing the MC to Him or to damnation, and that his failure to protect them means he’s failed not only himself but God as well.

Detective Jonah Redd

Before MC: Fears becoming irrelevant or powerless, just another washed-up detective who couldn’t save anyone when it mattered.

After MC: Fears watching MC get hurt on his watch, his sense of self becomes wrapped up in keeping them safe, even from forces way beyond his reach.

Silas Wren

Before MC: Fears obscurity, dying without ever being heard or understood.

After MC: Fears MC will see through him, find him lacking, and leave.

Dr. Elaine Marrow

Before MC: Fears losing control of her mind, her sharpness, clarity, and ability to distinguish reality from illusion.

After MC: Fears MC being consumed by forces she can’t reason with, treat, or fight, the idea of watching someone she loves unravel the way she worries she could is unbearable.

Sister Mercy

Before MC: Fears being abandoned by the divine, left adrift between worlds with no anchor, her devotion meaningless.

After MC: Fears MC will become her undoing, that loving them will blind her to Him’s will, or worse, that He will take them from her as punishment.

The Second (HIM)

Before MC: Fears nothing in the mortal sense, but His one lack is eternity without anchor. A vastness without tether.

After MC: Fears MC’s rejection, not in a fragile human way, but in the sense that their defiance would unmake the bond He’s staked His essence on. For something eternal, even the possibility of loss is intolerable.

Devlog - September 15th, 2025

Hey everyone! 🖤

Quick update for you all: Chapter 1 is officially halfway done! 🎉 I’ve been writing steadily, and it’s starting to really take shape. It’s been so fun seeing the atmosphere of this world come together, the city, the tension, and of course… the ROs.

I don’t want to spoil too much yet, but I can say this: Chapter 1 is laying all the plot and groundwork for both the unsettling vibes and the choices that will maybe tug you in very different directions. You’ll get to meet a few of the ROs in this chapter, and I’m especially excited about the balance between the ordinary and the supernatural!!

Thank you all for being so patient and excited about this project, it really means the world to me!!!

I was wondering how customisable do you plan on making the mc? Are there any preset stuff about the mc we won't be able to control? I was also wondering if we were going to be allowed to choose more unnatural like white or blue hair, and gold or red eyes? I know some IF authors prefer to only allow natural hair and eye colors, so I wanted to know before I started to design my mc! (right now i've been thinking about giving my mc either white or black hair and either blue eyes or if its an option heterochromia blue/gold eyes) Oh, and don't worry if you don't want to add those types of options, it's not a deal breaker! Anyway, I can't wait to read the if it sounds so interesting!

Level of MC Customization

Fully customizable basics so name, gender, pronouns, physical description (hair, eyes, skin, build), fashion leanings, etc.

Personality framework meaning you’ll get a lot of freedom in dialogue as well as choices, but some core traits are coded in. For example:

The MC starts off as a bit sheltered and inexperienced in romance/relationships. This is important for the way the supernatural elements unfold and how certain ROs will interact with you.

 Appearance Options

Hair & Eyes: You’ll be able to choose both natural and unnatural. So yes, white, silver, pastel, gold eyes, heterochromia, all of it is on the table. It actually fits the story really well, since this isn’t a strictly “realistic slice-of-life” setting.

Skin tone, height/build, scars/tattoos (not one 100% sure on tattoos/scars) will be customizable.

Clothing style, there’ll be some flavor options that you can lean into.

Other than those story-necessary plots and story lines, you’re free to build your MC however you like!

How do the ROs feel about supernatural/vampires or if it turned out the MC was one/became one?

Ohhh I love this question!!

Father Isaac Rowe He’d take it hard. Theologically, vampires = corruption, sin, hunger masquerading as life. His faith would tell him to drive a stake through you but in the end his heart would betray him.

Detective Jonah Redd Jonah’s too tired to flinch at the word “vampire.” He’s the “seen worse, drank with worse” type. He’d probably crack a joke, “Guess I’m buying you the SPF 100, huh?” but you can see the tension in his jaw. If you were one, he’d just start researching crime reports about missing persons, blood banks, and unsolved murders because that’s what he does. Keep you safe and keep you human, even if humanity is long gone.

Silas Wren He’d 100% spin it for his podcast, “My partner, the vampire? Guys, you don’t understand the content potential...” but underneath the whole bravado is fascination. He’d absolutely offer his own wrist with a grin, just to see what happens. There’s fear there, of course, but Silas thrives on fear, it makes him feel alive.

Dr. Elaine Marrow Elaine would compartmentalize hard. The clinical side of her would buzz with questions: Are you contagious? What’s hunger versus compulsion? She’d want to document everything. But the other side, the human side, would ache, because this means your pain has no cure, no end date. She’d love you anyway, but always be trying to treat a wound that can’t heal.

🕯️ Sister Mercy Mercy wouldn’t flinch. Her faith isn’t rooted in the same dogma as Isaac’s. Vampires to her? Another vessel for HIM. If you were one, she’d likely consider you chosen. She might even envy you, she sees hunger as worship, and blood as communion.

The Second (HIM) Oh, He’d be delighted. Vampirism is liminality, neither living nor dead, mortal yet eternal. That’s His domain. HIM doesn’t love you less for feeding elsewhere. But He would remind you almost everyday, “All hungers circle back to Me.”

Do Father Issac and Sister Mercy belong to the same church? I would assume not, since Sister Mercy worships HIM, while Father Issac seems to follow what I assume is the Christian god and is scared of what HIM's arrival means.

I was also wondering, does the Mc romancing someone other than HIM affect their relationship? Does it upset HIM at all when Mc gives themself to someone else? Not necessarily in like a romantic jealousy kind of way. Since I know you said that the relationship between Mc and HIM is not inherently sexual or romantic. And what about the other way around, is it possible for the Mc to romance someone other than HIM but still end up with HIM in the end?

Not a barrage at all, these are exactly the chewy questions that dig into the heart of the story, so I love them! :)

Father Isaac & Sister Mercy

They do not belong to the same church.

Father Isaac who is rooted in traditional Christianity (Catholic/Orthodox blend, leaning heavily into guilt, ritual, and fear of corruption). To him, HIM is a threat, a crack in the order of God’s world.

Sister Mercy who outwardly presents herself as part of the Ethiopian Orthodox faith, but in reality her private devotion has been diverted to HIM. It’s not that she stopped believing in God, rather, she sees HIM as a revelation, a truth underneath the truth.

Romancing Others While Claimed by HIM

You’re right: the bond with HIM is not traditionally sexual/romantic, it’s meant to be based on possession, devotion, obsession, hunger. But it does overlap with intimacy, because it shapes every part of how the MC connects to others.

If the MC gives themselves to another RO, HIM does not rage in “jealous boyfriend” mode. Instead, He experiences it as an act of… betrayal of intimacy. For the MC to share love elsewhere is like trying to cheat gravity. He’ll let you do it, but your romance will always feel haunted, like a shadow at the edge of the bed.

Romance Others but Still End with HIM

Absolutely. In fact, this is one of the core horror-romance dynamics

You can fight Him by loving someone else. You can try to drown Him out with human warmth. You can even build a whole relationship, the whole nine yards, marry, have kids, grow old but He waits. He always waits.

So yes, the MC can romance someone else but still end with HIM in the end, either by being inevitably pulled back or in surrender by choosing Him above all others.
