Final project

This photo collage is based on my favorite spot to go and think. This place holds a special place in my heart due to the fact that during my hardest times I would go there and sit for hours and just process my thoughts. My mother and I would go no matter rain or shine just to sit and just find a way to relax. Whenever she turned on her cigarette it was an indication that this is a safe space to get anything out of our chest. Truly one of the most comfortable things I experienced.

In a city where there are so many beautiful things to look at, we tend to overlook how scary it can actually be. In a place where there is numerous skyscrapers and distractions, we tend to overlook what is in front of us or even what's under. People keep building up without looking down, is it because they want to get away from what lurks under? is there something we are trying to get away from or is there something trying to get away from us....

FORCED ENTRY FINAL

let's be real, being in public that has a lot of people present can get overwhelming pretty quick. Having a quick safe space to recollect yourself is mandatory now and days.

For this assignment I had my subject go to one of the most busiest places in Manhattan and stand in the middle of oncoming traffic to photograph them while having their head in their "safety area" during the whole time. Attached below is a poem that fit's my theme

"Don't feel offended if I don't look you in the eyes. There is nothing about you that I despise. I have nothing against you, I'm just scared. I'm scared to look at you because I'm impaired. I have Social Anxiety and it stops me from living. I'll sit in my room and stay omitting. I have Social Anxiety and it makes me scared of people. Whenever I'm around people I feel I'm surrounded by pins and needles. People scare me and I feel I can't trust anyone. When I am around people I feel as if my chest is carrying a ton. I want to meet new people I really do. But my Social Anxiety keeps me in my room. I have Social Anxiety and I have learned to accept it. And Social Anxiety is something I can't quit." - poetic daughter

My concept will be surrounding the idea of social anxiety and how it affects a majority of us. Sometimes during these moments we just want to vanish away in our little worlds to mentally recover for what has occurred.

My focus will be photographing a subject with a beanie covering their eyes and nose in a public setting with high human traffic

FORCED ENTRY

For this assignment I wanted to focus on something along the lines of social anxiety. Where I would have a person wear a paper bag with something written on it or maybe cut out. The idea came from seeing cartoons where people will just put a bag over to become “ hidden” and “ invisible”.

Artist statement- the world is filled with beauty but just as scary. Sometimes we all just want to disappear at any given time. Surely we aren’t superhero’s to do so but the safety of the bag will be enough to fill that whole for now atleast..

DYSTOPIA WORK

In a world full of surveillance, the only way to be free is to get rid of our faces. No features no traces more freedom.

Poem- We are followed, We are observed

Where this world is suspicious

The people the great humans

Surveillance of humans everywhere.

CCTV cameras fitted in restaurants

Bus stands, Petrol bunks, stations

Even in worshipful places

The big concern of privacy of individual

Lost for ever in this world.

The big and heavy price for freedom

The big and heavy price for security

The big and heavy price for life itself

The great asset of personal freedom

A loss in surveillance systems as a whole.

But what other options we have

To deal with the situation endangers us.?
