The Ugly Step Sisters
Working at the Lighthouse Festival Theatre in scenic Port Dover this past summer I got the chance to crank out this little portrait of the "ugly step sisters" for a production of Cinderella. I am including here the pencil drawings, since the painted version turned out quite differently.
Snakes at IndexG Gallery
Stop by IndexG Gallery at 50 Gladstone Ave. in Toronto and have a look at the new "art brownie" exhibit. Artists are given a small 2x2ish block of wood, to do whatever you want with, though with the loose theme of "Zoo". For this round of brownies I made snakes out of supersculpey, and painted them with metallic acrylics. They're sorta iridescent in real life, so go lookit them! They are on sale for 40$, cheep!
Cheesy Book Cover Design
Doing stage and set design for small time theatre means I get to crank out some cheesy book cover designs for shows. Here's a nice one...

Summer Snapshot

I put in a close up on them since the original is large, and the details get a little lost in translation. Summer time!!
Call Bob
Heres one that I haven't coloured yet. This guy just dug out his old sheepskin jacket from the closet and decided to wear it to work. It makes him feel cool and like he could maybe just keep riding the train and have an adventure and meet new people. I thought it'd be good if the poster on the train wall said something like "there's always room for improvement".
Even the right path can be riddled with doubt.
Florida Bound
Wooweee these two are traveling to Florida, maybe one of them is from there or something. I did this lil piece for a show back in December of 2012 at a nice gallery in Hamilton, Ontario; http://mantacontemporary.com/
I used ink and watercolour and those watercolour crayons for this one, which were quite fun to use.
She is Eastern European, and he must be Cuban maybe. They will be together for a long time, and consider getting a dog together later on.
She is a little bull archer, not as graceful, but very accurate.
It's "People With Small Dogs", but I guess thats an afterthought. I don't often do stuff without line work, but these little miniatures were fun to knock off! They are about 2x3" each, and some have light pencil drawings underneath.
I really want a dog you guys.
This is "Summertime Snack Attack". I did the line drawing way back in the summer. Seeing as today was a miserable and oddly rainy sick day for me, I thought I would finally colour and post it as a reminder of good things to come.
This is a mockup I did for a possible mural going up in Barrie Ont. A little looser than I normally work, I am happy with the way it turned out, if even just as a sketch.
NATO Alphabet
I was commissioned to do this piece for a client's birthday, and being such a universal sorta image, I thought I'd post it here too. I now know the NATO alphabet by heart, even though it doesn't rhyme!!
The original piece is around 17x36 or so, pen and ink and watercolour on paper- July 2012.

Walrus Dates
I have a ton of old line drawings just sitting around that never got finished. I am slowly going through them and closing these chapters. This one was coloured in photoshop and drawn with an HB pencil on a scrap piece of mat board.

This is a little sketch I did of myself when waiting for the streetcar at some ungodly hour after work. It was a cold February night. Despite this portrait, I clean up nice! The hair is pretty accurate, though.
