Marie Antoinette: A Drama in a Prologue, Five Acts and Epilogue by Paolo Giacometti
A 19th century historical drama production which famously starred Adelaide Ristori. Script available freely on Google Books.
Fun fact about Giacometti’s play: During the play’s Italian premiere, a small but loud section of the audience began jeering and drowning out the actors. Ristori pulled aside a prop chair, stood on it, and said with to the agitators that, while she would not ask them to cheer for something they don’t like, to at least let others watch the performance undisturbed so that the performance would be judged on merit alone. It worked, and the play was well received enough in Italy become Ristori’s most recognizable role.
