The smell in Jason’s apartment is a familiar scent of something drowned, with an unfamiliar addition of fresh blood.
*Jason blinked a bit and sighed, holding the little Bamf that was living with them now close. They walked over to the window and opened it.* "Are you hurt?" *They asked, sensing who it was.*
There’s an unnatural silence before her voice is heard, quieter than usual. Unsure. “Yes…”
"Then come on inside. I will help you with your injury."
Miren hesitantly climbs in the window, a hand holding its side under a jumper. For the first time, Jason can see her in proper true lighting- and fuck. It looks young.
*Jason felt protective insticts kick in, which they couldn't be blamed for at all. They put the Bamf down at watched as it climbed onto a chair to roll up there like a cat.* "Come, on the couch please. I will grab a first aid kid." *They said gently to Miren.*
She gives a shallow nod, eyes watching the Bamf with distrust and something that could be read as fear of something other being there. But it moves to sit on the couch cautiously, just barely.
"I promise that the lil guy is harmless. Plus, it's sort of my kid now." *Jason said and then grabbed the first aid kid from the bathroom.* "Alright, got it. Show me your injury?"
The distrust slowly disappears at the explanation. Once they come back, Miren freezes. As if having an internal battle with herself before it finally removes its jumper, and then just lifting her shirt to show bruise ribs- ribs that are too easily seen- too skinny- and a sluggishly bleeding gunshot wound.
*Jason blinked slowly.* "I will so make you a big meal after treating that wound. And I will also give you a new shirt, yours is now all messy." *They said, full on mother hen mood. They grabbed everything they needed ans then sat down on the floor, cleaning the wound carefully.*
Despite trying not to, Miren makes a quiet pained noise as they clean the wound, speaking up. Accented voice still quiet, still unsure. “Didn’t go through. Can feel it stuck.”
*Jason nodded.* "In that case I need to take the bullet out. Can you hold still for me while I do that?"
Miren nods, nails digging into her palms with how tightly clenched its fists were.
"This will hurt a lot." *Jason warned and then very carefully removed the bullett.*
Her eyes clench shut to try and stop tears from falling at the feeling, not quite able to bite down the pained whine that escapes.
"Shhh, it's okay. It's almost out." *Jason said gently and then managed to get bullett out.*
It tries to stay as still as possible, another small noise escaping, this time a sad whimper, wet with the promise of tears.
*Jason gently whiped her tears and then started to take care of the wound that was now bullett free.*
The feeling of hands wiping away tears is something completely foreign to Miren, something that she leans into before it can stop even though Jason quickly moves on.
*Jason made sure to put a band aid over the wound and then nodded.* "All done. You can stay here the night if you want, but I would need to ask my boyfriend Kurt if you are allowed to stay for the night. He lives here too now after all."
“Stay?” The word comes out surprised, as if it’s asking why they would offer that in the first place, the confusion muddled with pain as she winces from shifting.
"Yes, stay. At least for some food and for tonight."
“Why?”
"Because I am worried about you."
This just makes it more confused, as if she doesn’t understand why one would be worried.
"You were hurt, so I want to keep an eye on you."
Miren seems to come to an understanding at this, confusion falling away with a small nod. “Oh, so you don’t feel guilt. Yes. Okay.”
"Okay! Great. Stay on the couch, okay? Here, have the blanket and this pillow. I will cook you a meal." *Jason said and turned on the TV after giving her the items, letting her watch Bluey while they texted Kurt and cooked.*
She blinks at the pillow like it’s something new before carefully hugging the soft item close to its chest, an innocent sort of wonder crossing her face as she watches the show.
*Jason cooked a very big meal, also planning to eat it later and also have some for Kurt and the little Bamf.*
Miren curls up around the pillow, careful not to let it touch the bloody side of its shirt.
*Jason smiled at the reply of Kurt they got while cooking.* "Do you want some tea?" *They called to the living room.*
“Tea?” The word strange in its mouth, not quite fitting correctly.
"Yes, tea. It's warm water with flavour.*
“…yes?”

Unsure. “Yes…”
