Okay, I actually really enjoy the scenes of the Dursleys in the books, because they're basically Roald Dahl-esque dark comedy cartoon characters. Like, they're meant to be over-the-top and funny with their antics. But there's a part of the HP fandom who don't think Harry's abuse from the Dursleys was traumatic enough, and want to darken everything up for "realism".

So instead of a witty and sarcastic Harry telling Dudley to stuff his fat head in a toilet, we get a miserable Harry being beaten up at school and Aunt Petunia waving scissors in his face. Like yeah in the original you had Vernon threatening to lock him in the cupboard for a week, but I dunno Harry always had this defiant look on his face?

Plus there being zero lighting and a blue filter over everything just makes it all so sinister. Even when he gets to Hogwarts everything looks so dark. And this isn't just a problem with this series in particular, every show looks like this now and it sucks.
