What Kind of Wonderland?
Jervis made his way closer, pure curiosity driving him- What kind of person would he find? The silhouette alone was enough that he wasn’t worried about Batman.
He stepped closer to her and the statue of the Queen of Hearts, head tilting slightly as he caught the last of her sentence.
“Did you say, what a pity?”
That wasn’t what he’d meant to ask, but the quote slipped out anyway.

“Oh my… It’s so fluffy?!” She shrieked, obviously rather excited. “You’re sure I can keep him?” Upon inspecting the puppy for a moment she added, “Or her…?”
“No- No, I can’t name it. I’d get attached.” Jervis shook his head quickly. It was difficult enough to give the puppy away even without naming it.
“The pup was homeless. In a little cardboard box on the street.” If he wasn’t on the run from the law, he’d definitely be taking in every single unwanted pet he came across.

“It needs a home.”
Jervis gave a small shrug- he didn’t know the gender of the puppy, he hadn’t checked. He’d given it a bath, though, which is why it was so fluffy currently.
“I’d take care of it myself, but my.... home situation isn’t suitable for a pet, at the moment. Will you take it?”
The food wasn’t drugged, and it was well-made. Jervis may not take the best care of himself or his living space at times, but he was an experienced cook.
Not the best person to have dinner with though, perhaps. It was clear Jervis was used to eating alone, for he didn’t speak once to Edward until both their plates were empty. Small talk didn’t come naturally to him.
“Allow me to take your plate.” He offered, once they were both finished.
“Visual hallucinations, induced by the companion in your head. Fascinating.” Jervis noted, seeming absolutely delighted by the answer.
“Can he control what you see in other ways? When he takes control of your body, are your positions swapped- that is to say, he is the one moving, and you are solely in the mind, a back-seat driver, if you will?”
He’d studied this kind of thing- He was a neuroscientist, after all. Nothing, though, was better than a first-hand experience, and so he’d find what he could from someone who had experienced it.
