Winter Ball - All Attending!
Motoe was never the one to wear too much make-up. Her hair was bleached and her eyelashes were naturally long, but she wasn’t overtly concerned with her appearance. She’d put on her blush and mascara and was always very fashionable, but she didn’t feel it was something she did in an attempt to look good.
The mirror of the changing room was starting to get a little foggy as she breathed all over it. Doing mascara was always complicated. There was a particular pose that every person putting on mascara would do. Mouth open, head tilted back and and a glare from the eye they were applying mascara to.
Motoe was trying her hardest not to pull the face, but it kept on happening. “Grr!” she grumbled as she carried on putting mascara on her bottom lashes. She loved how make-up made her look, but the effort to put on more than she usually did was what was turning her off. Why did make-up take so much effort? Less natural looking make-up would take less time to do.
She slammed the mascara down on the desk in frustration. Yes, her eyes looked much better now, but mascara was her least favourite thing to put on. “Do any of you guys have the same problem?” She called out to whoever else was listening in the changing room.
Atsuko hated make up with a passion. She couldn’t help but feel closed in when she wore, by her standards, too much. However, she understood that it really could be necessary at times. That still didn’t mean that she used more than necessary.
Of course, she had been an idol for a few years now, and had grown a bit skilled with the brushes. She was in the process of lining her eyes with liquid liner (the tool she now hated the most, due to how hard it was to use!) when she heard the brunette to her right grumble.
Finishing off her right eye (which also, thankfully was the final) before she responded, “In case you mean with the make-up going in the general area of the eye, then yes.“ She smiled. “I think using liquid liner might have been a mistake, going by my nerves.“
Looking at the understudy, she flashed another smile. “You really look great, though!“
Maeda Atsuko the 14th. Motoe didn’t even notice that she was in the room. She started to feel a little silly for blurting out like that with Acchan in the room. That feeling didn’t compare to the KKS’s excitement though.
“Ah! Maeda Atsuko!” Motoe picked her mascara back up from the vanity table. She almost got the mascara liquid everywhere during her outburst. It was a good thing she’d put the lid on just enough to stop anything from spilling out.
“Thank you! Acchan always looks great though.” Acchan really did always look great. Maybe it was the ace aura that she always emitted. Or maybe it was just natural beauty.
“Thank you too,” she replied, genuinely happy about the compliment. She was pretty used to getting comments - both bad and good - from fans, and, while they cheered her up as well, it was so many. Atsuko still treated every compliment and critique like if they came from a person (which they do) instead of just another one among thousands as some people believed. However, getting the compliments from someone in her surroundings and someone she would regularly meet, somehow felt even more special. It wasn’t everyday she could speak with all of the other members, and even then, compliments like this were rarely exchanged.
Atsuko smiled. The kenkyuusei’s excitement really was infectious. Sometimes, Atsuko really wished she had been more outgoing as a kenkyuusei; sure, she might have made some choices differently, but on the other hand, she might’ve been more sure in her own abilities as well, and quite likely, she would have improved faster. “But what about you? Are you nervous about the ball itself?” she asked.
