Hold the ceremony and reception at the same venue. You won’t be paying for a second venue and you won’t have to pay by-the-hour vendors who have to travel from one venue to the other.
Keep the flowers simple. Flowers can be pretty expensive, so only stick to one or two different flowers. Using more greenery than flowers will also cut your costs. Buying flowers that are in season will also help you keep costs down.
Cut the guest list. By doing this you will save catering costs, invitations, and even the number of tables and centerpieces that you will need.
Escort cards as favors. Potted plants with seating cards are small and simple, yet they make cute favors to take home.
Bigger reception tables. The bigger the tables, the fewer the centerpieces and the tablecloths.
Only offer a few alcoholic drinks. Beer, wine and signature cocktails will cost you significantly less than paying for a full bar.
Serving comfort food. Who doesn’t love a bit of comfort food? BBQ, mac and cheese, fried chicken, corn, you name it. These foods can be fun, simple and cheap. No need to have a 5 course meal.
Order a small cake. A one or two tier cake with some supplement sheet cake in the kitchen could do the trick. You can even go a bit more rustic and serve pie instead of cake.
