The Fool and The Hermit

Recently i was using my Tarot Cards and something unusual came forward. 

The hermit came before The Fool. 

I’m currently stuck right now, stuck in my own head and stuck in a job i hate. 

So When i finally pulled out The Fool i laughed out loud.

Then i started searching online for the relationship between these two cards and found this. 

“The Fool (0) and The Hermit (9) are the beginning and the end of the ten-digit sequence that is the base of our number system. Once we’ve gotten to The Hermit, the endpoint, we can continue into another cycle with The Fool, or we can up the ante by adding the number 1 to the 0 to make 10, the Wheel of Fortune. But we always do one or the other.”

Its really giving me a bit of hope that im coming to the end of this cycle and about to start a new one. And i have been pushing for this so hard and so focused, yet there is some horrible feeling i have that something unpleasant is going to happen before the new cycle can begin.

Homemade cleansing salt.

The Boyfriend is at work. I have the day off and we need to clean the apartment anyway, so I took the dogs to daycare. I’ll be spreading this delicious mixture all over the carpet and vacuuming it up after a bit.

Freshly ground cinnamon, fresh rosemary and sage*, Herbes de Provence (savory, lavender, rosemary, thyme, tarragon), ground cinnamon, a bit of Aleppo pepper for heat, and a mix of my barley/dried lavender/dried roses with some hawthorn.

A powerful thing, a food processor.

*Sage is fresh culinary sage, not white sage.

Use this spread for personal application (kind of like an elaborate overall self evaluation or direct intention to another person). Wonderful to use during Samhain.

So this is the longer post I said I’d make about the wax melting pot! It’s very versatile so you can personalize how you want to use it. This is what I did:

Step 1: Get your supplies and pre-melt the wax cube earlier in the day to give it time to re-harden.

Step 2: Use a pointed tool (I just used a picture frame nail) to carve into the wax. This is the really fun part.You literally get to shape your intention :) 

You can write a message or intention, whether it be a word, spell or mantra of some sort, include any symbols you wish etc. I used my finger to rub the excess wax shavings into the carved lines to make it more visible. 

Step 3: Then I chose some oils to anoint with. WORD OF CAUTION: some essential oils are flammable and/or should not be diffused into the air in high quantities so be careful of the amount you use and don’t risk pouring it directly into a candle unless you know your stuff

I used the goddess oil from Saje, which is a mix or orange, rose, jasmine and a few others, by rubbing it on the exterior of the tealight I was going to use (wash your hands after this).

The other one I used IS MY FAVOURITE! It’s balsam fir tree oil from Aroma Force and it smells like the forest (◡‿◡✿) This one went into the wax.

Step 4: Let the magic flow! (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

You’ve got some time on your hands while it melts so this is the perfect opportunity to sit and reflect, meditate, listen to some music for atmosphere, write or do anything that you find suitable. And don’t forget to enjoy the scent of the wax and oils you chose!

Tea Magic Tip: Sun Tea

Charge your iced-tea magically by making it sun-tea! 

Honestly, I’m mad I didn’t think of this sooner, because my family has been making sun-tea every summer since before I was born. It’s my favorite way to make iced tea. It’s also an EXCELLENT way to magically charge your favorite tea with the gentle warmth and refreshing qualities of the sun. The sun’s light is often associated with strength, life, positivity, fire, and illumination (I’m concentrating on ‘positive’ rather than ‘negative’ traits here). Infusing your tea with these qualities can boost the magical and healthful benefits naturally found in the leaves leaves and roots of the tea. 

To Make Sun Tea You’ll Need:

A Glass Jar

Your favorite bagged tea

about 8 hours of sunlight

A big quart glass mason jar is the best vessel for this. I would NOT recommend using plastic. You’ll need 3-4 tea-bags for each quart, depending on the strength of the tea. Put the tea-bags in the jar, fill with drinking water, and close the jar. Place in a sunny spot for 8-12 hours, after saying whatever words of binding or charging you prefer. 

Once the tea is finished brewing, speaking your thanks to the sun would be appropriate, as well as any final sealing words you would say. Then simply remove the tea bags and discard (I like to compost mine) and place in the refrigerator to cool.

instead of using salt for outdoor spells and rituals, use powdered eggshells - it’s good for the soil!

Witch-bottle to protect from negative energies:

What you’ll need:

black sand (hallowed soil workd well too)

sharp stuff (like pins and broken glass)

the hair of who you wish to protect (you can also use nail trimmings, both would be best)

black candle

jar or bottle

any thing else you wish to throw in for protection make it your own! (ie-I put a bit of hematite in mine)

Place the sand, sharp stuff, hair, and whatever else you chose into the jar.

Either spit in it, or bleed into it (men can also use sperm and women can also use menstral blood if they’re comfortable)

Seal the jar with the lid and then with the wax from your candle

Hide the jar somewhere on your property so when negative energy comes looking for you it will find the jar instead.

Coffee Magic

Hold you cup of coffee in your hand and clear your mind. Think about what you want from the day to come.

Perhaps you wish for simply a peaceful day, some strength to deal with a difficult boss, more energy, or maybe you are coping with a mental illness and you just need to get through the day with some mindfulness.  

With you morning coffee, look into it, and find the words you need and chant them repeatedly.

For example a mantra could be;

“Today is a new day and will not be influenced by the energy of yesterdays.”

Opening the Third Eye

What You Will Need,

-A Small Purple bag

-Mugwort, Rosemary, Mint, Thyme, Honeysuckle, lavender

-A tool to mark the bag (pen, needle and thread and so on)

Place the herbs into the small bag, tie it shut and draw or sew an eye symbol on the the from of the bag. Have it with you when perform divination rituals and sleep with it under your pillow at night.

Listening/watching people (on Youtube) discuss tarot meanings is not only meditative, but it’s also educational. You may pick up on things which you never considered. Watching vidz of diviners can be just as effective as reading guidebooks. This doesn’t make you a weaker diviner. You’re progressing!

Here is my small alter. Here I keep a witches bottle, which is full of scrolls of paper and other things. The skull which is an insense burner and candle holder and currently has some semi precious stones in its eyes. There's some candles and insense there too. More paper. A pen. And a glass container which had just started growing some new herbs. Planning to add more items from the ocean around this as well. I keep most of my tools in a wee work box so my station doesn't get too over whelmed.
