The hot weather in Shurima had been quite unforgiven in his stay. Sweat dripped down his face, his feet rhythmically hitting the rooftops as he made his escape. They had chased him through the deserts, from town to town to eventually the capital. If he couldnât get away here now, all would be lost. His hand automatically went to the ancient artifact heâd stolen. Still there, good.
Fate managed a quick look over his shoulder. They were far enough to attempt another escape. Letâs see if they would fall for it this time. With a sharp turn to the left, he dropped down back down to the street level. Fate dashed through the tiny alleyway only to see rows of rich houses. He slowed to a halt, panting harshly as he considered his options. Either he could sneak into one and risk getting captured, or continue on running and hope for the best? His water pouch was nearly empty and he couldnât risk running escaping through the desert with the amount of supplies heâd left. Entering a house was the only thing that could give him the possibility to escape.
His eyes settled on a two store house, the only one with a small crack in its defense as the house on the other side of the street was close enough to jump over the fence. With his mind made up, he rushed to the side of the house, running up a stack of wooden crates and using the window ledge to climb upwards. In the distance he could hear the shouts and knew he had to act fast. He sprinted forward, a quick prayer to lady Luck in his head before he jumped over the ledge.
His heart stilled for a moment, his breath caught in his throat as he was flying midair. And then everything exhilarated. With a quick roll he collided harshly on the ground, his left ankle giving a sharp pain as knocking him off balance. Shit. A painful grunt escaped his lips, and yet Fate struggled upwards. He had to get inside the house and quick. With a stumble he ran forward, ignoring the sharp jolts of pain going through his system.
The side wall of the house was an excellent support as he moved out of sight, his eyes taking in the house and deemed it good for now. If Fate was lucky enough they would search elsewhere or the hype would die down so he could go back under the radar. Now that he was temporary out of sight, he could slow down and assess the house. Which is the best way in? The windows on the bottom floor were closed, he could tell within an instant. The backdoor was also not an option. Knocking out the glass would only give a problem if they decided to search the surrounding area. He had to get in without making it look like a forced entrance.
Out of the corner of his eyes, he noticed a piece of clothing fluttering in the wind. The balcony door seemed to be open to let the clothing dry. Just his luck. He grinned and quickly scanned the wall for the quickest way up there. He could look at his left feet the moment he was safely inside. Ignoring the insistent throbbing of his ankle, Fate climbed upwards and soon set foot on the balcony.
Yet when the thief stood in the opening, he noticed movement inside. Cursing inwardly, Fate crouched down, sliding behind a pile of other cloths and grabbed one. He could use this if the other decided to be difficult. He hardly had the time nor patience to be ratted out to the police. Now with his injury he didnât have the option to run anymore.
The moment the younger male turned around, Twisted Fate pounced. With a swift quick he brought him to the ground, his knee probing into his back as his hands quickly used the cloth as a gag. That would at least quick the man from screaming. Leaning down, Fate whispered harshly into the maleâs ear, hoping that he would comply. He hated for his hands to be soaked with the blood of an innocent, but if that meant he could go free to deliver the artifact on time⊠He wasnât sure what he was capable of.
âListen here, lad. I donât want any funny business. No screaming, no shouting and Iâll let you live. If I find out you ratted me out or I think youâve become an endangerment to my survival, Iâll kill you. Do you understand me?â
