Weird how there's a sailor senshi who leans masc and runs really fast and flirts with everyone and its not the one named "Mars", "Mercury" or "Jupiter"
I based this on a comic I saw on tumblr and obviously on the characters and setting of the "Pretty Pretty Please I Don't Want To Be A Magical Girl" pilot animatic by Kiana Khansmith.
(For some reason YouTube links don’t get traction on tumblr, so let’s see if this works!)
Animated in Procreate Dreams.
HUH THIS IS SO PRETTY??? Beaaaaaauutiful animation oh my goddd. amazing work
One of the big MG shows I never actually saw but apparently was big was Tokyo Mew, apparently the gimmick was getting your powers from (endangered) animals and its one of the many things Ive gotten old enough to notice there was a revival a little back. So I remembered another cartoon and some tropes hit me. The infamous 90s Spiderman cartoon basically HAD a machine that'd give you magic animal powers (IIRC Neogenic Wazzzit something or other)
Some colorful spiders have mimicry abilities
Spiders have a whole themeing of being potentially beautiful but dangerous sometimes
Spiderman usually has trouble balancing their hero and private life, esp love life, and can't/won't dump it on their family
Spiderman had a person they were sweet on (sometimes) die horribly off a building
Spiderman likes to quip and showboat
Spiderman will do teamups and does well but sometimes cant shake the feeling they arent getting proper recognition
Anyway Minako as a Spiderman, send post
Accidentally finding that gif of PGSM going around where Ami gets heated over Rei's comment about her mom, I'm kind of amazed we never got a more obvious thing where the two never discuss about the fact their dads both seemingly abandoned them (seemingly)
idk who needs to hear this but when your english teacher asks you to explain why an author chose to use a specific metaphor or literary device, it’s not because you won’t be able to function in real-world society without the essential knowledge of gatsby’s green light or whatever, it’s because that process develops your abilities to parse a text for meaning and fill in gaps in information by yourself, and if you’re wondering what happens when you DON’T develop an adult level of reading comprehension, look no further than the dizzying array of examples right here on tumblr dot com
this post went from 600 to 2400 notes in the time it took me to write 3 emails. i’m already terrified for what’s going to happen in there
k but also, as an addendum, the reason we study literary analysis is because everything an author writes has meaning, whether it was intentional or not, and their biases and agendas are often reflected in their choice of language and literary devices and so forth! and that ties directly into being able to identify, for example, the racist and antisemitic dogwhistles often employed by the right wing, or the subconscious word choices that can unintentionally illustrate someone’s bias or blind spot. LANGUAGE HAS WEIGHT AND MEANING! the way we communicate is a reflection of our inner selves, and that’s true regardless of whether it’s a short story or a novel or a blog post or a tweet. instead of taking a piece of writing at face value and stopping there, assuming that there is no deeper meaning or thought behind the words on the page, ask yourself these two questions instead:
1. what is the author trying to say? 2. what does the author maybe not realize they’re saying?
because the most interesting reading of any piece of literature, imho, usually occupies the space in between those questions.
Also, sometimes it has hidden meaning relating to how art was funded. For example, Dickens never met an adjective he didn’t like because he was paid by the word. Dumas included long and pointless dialogue because he was paid by the line. Even stuff that was purposely included for dumbass reasons can teach us about the world the author lived in.
Its not the worst thing in the world but if you told me the 30th Anni show for Seramyu would use the old now Princess story as the base I wouldnt have believed you
What is your fav piece(s) of art you made?
I can’t decide between these two. I feel like both sort of encompass my blog well, a bit of a dichotomy. 🤣
Drawing dump! ⭐
I get PGSM got cancelled probably before they could actually release toyetic mockups of their weapons but I'm more surprised I've never seen a fan mockup either
Please Stay Safe and Warm out there <3

i learned of “Box beds” – cabinets with beds in them and, sometimes, lockable doors – were used for privacy and safety in parts of rural medieval Europe before individual bedrooms were common. They became fashionable even in homes with bedrooms and remained in use in Scotland into the 1900s (x)
I don’t want a swimming pool, I want a box bed/nook bed
Ohhhhhhh man this unlocks Primal Instinct

Doc how would you make the Ginzuishou "work" for you? What limitations and/or costs would you apply to it if it was up to you?
A few options!
It actually does fucking kill her to use it. In the dead way. In the actually, permanently, no hijinks way. Dead. You could actually do a lot with this is I think, because then at the end of the day, it's Usagi deciding to die to save her friends and spitting int he face of the Moon Kingdom that decided everyone had to die for her. It's Usagi taking an active role in changing what the story was meant to be, and actually backing her own play on not wanting anyone to die for her. It could make Usagi's love feel like a much BIGGER thing.
I actually really liked the way the first season ended. Usagi chooses to bring everyone back even though she's not supposed to, she's killed Beryl and she's closed the loop. Everyone gets to go back to who they were and how they were. But they lose each other. It never had to happen so it never did. Amazing bittersweet ending.
To build off two, it has to be a one and done deal. I can take resurrection ONCE, at GREAT PERSONAL COST. In my rewrite of the talismans arc, saving Haruka and Michiru is what makes Usagi, princess of the moon, have to BE Sailor Moon. She has to fight now, instead of being protected, because she gave something up in defying her mother. It doesn't have to be that, I don't represent my way is the best or only way to do that, it's just how I massaged it to make a confluence of puzzling decisions work for me. And she can't do it again. There's no power to draw off of without the talismans being pulled, no nothing like that, and so now, if you die, you die.
It's not actually specific to this IP, but I've always wanted to have a hero-with-magical geegaw series where the trope of Inexplicably Charismatic Protagonist Despite Apparent Evidence gets explained BY possession of the thing. On the surface, it sounds like an amazing thing to have, but the dread eventually seeps in as they wonder how much they're actually appealing to people for their own sakes and how much of that is a "trick."
The Sailor Moon Iceberg ✨ video is live!!! I collaborated with clearandsweet on Youtube for this - I made the iceberg, he made the video about it. Check it out :D
(the iceberg itself is posted to this tumblr if you just wanna look at that!)
