Name: Veronica Barker
Faceclaim: Alexa Davalos
Age: 29-32ish when she died
Sexuality: Bisexual, slight male lean
Backstory: Veronica was a riveter during World War 2, where Woodstone Manor was being used as temporary housing for them. One day, she got injured on the job but stubbornly kept working through it, simply patching it up herself using a random piece of torn cloth instead of actually getting help. Everything seemed (relatively) fine...until later that night. She and a few of the others were about to hit the town, but before they could head out, Veronica collapsed and succumbed to her injury. Now, she's one of the spirits bound to Woodstone Manor. Her ghost power is the ability to start/stop engines. She's spunky, headstrong, and stubborn, with a heart of gold.
Tag: she can do it (veronica barker)
I think I've developed Veronica enough to move her to my main RP account!

I love them, and I'm always open to them! If I don't know the character/verse, I'll try my best to accomidate and still do the thread, but I'll also DM the person first to be like "hey just so you know I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing, could you help please"
Does that make sense?

“I’d burn everything to keep this hidden.”
THE MOMENT IT BREAKS
betrayal, sacrifice, irreversible choices

NEW BLOG ALERT
I've had a lot of ideas for Odessa, so I'm giving her her own blog! I'm out and about rn so I can't actually format it or anything just yet
@odessa-twillshades-odyssey
Odessa felt guilt gnawing at her insides, threatening to tear her apart from within. She overheard bits of conversation around the Emerald City. Each was worse than the last:
They say that Captain Tigelaar got put out to pasture.
Such a shame, really. I never would've pegged him for a traitor.
Good riddance. He was working for the Wicked Witch!
You know what scares me? He led the guard. How many other traitors do you think are out there?
Odessa wanted to scream: that the Wizard was the traitor when he claimed to be for the citizens of Oz while being the very thing destroying it, that Fiyero was braver than any of them for actually doing something about it, that he was a good man who deserved better...
But she couldn't.
She kept her promises - letting Feldspar go, not letting a single word slip about Elphaba, resisting the urge to try and stop any of this - even if it killed her.
And, sweet Ozma, it was killing her.
Fiyero wished there was a way for him to get in contact with Elphaba. Hoping that she wouldn't do anything rash when the news hit her what was happening to him. He could only hope Odessa would do the same. If he were in her shoes he would struggle to accept her wishes just as much as she did.
"There must have been a misunderstanding!" an unfamiliar voice called from somewhere, but he didn't have the will to look around. He didn't regret standing on Elphaba's side, but it was humiliating and painful to be dragged through the city like this. "Soak up the attention, traitor. It'll be the last you have," one of the men holding him taunted before they started the struggle up the stairs to where the Wizard's emerald train was waiting.
The news came from her father. Because of course it did. Because of course the Twillshade patriarch considered it some twisted "win" in that sick family feud.
It took all of Odessa's willpower to keep her reaction subdued. She knew her father well enough to know that the slightest thing could get his suspicions raised.
But the moment she was behind closed doors?
The only thing that kept all of Oz from hearing her sobs was her pillow.
The moment she was sure she was out of earshot, Odessa pulled herself out of the shadows and crouched by Fiyero one more time. She was tempted to wake him and give some sort of reassurance...but what could she say? He was right. There was nothing to be done. Besides, if she woke him, he'd just be feeling that pain again.
He looked almost peaceful like this. If it weren't for the blood and bruises, one might even think he was asleep. She thought back to all of the times they met in secret back when they were at Shiz together. All the times one would lean against the other and fall asleep.
She'd give anything for one more night like that.
Gingerly, she brushed some of the bloody, sweatsoaked hair from his eyes. "I'm sorry," she croaked, "I'm so sorry..." Her voice broke, choking on a restrained sob. She wondered if somewhere deep in his subconscious, he could hear her.
Just in case he could, she added:
"I love you."
Fiyero was pulled from unconsciousness to the doors slammed open somewhere in the dungeons. For a moment it felt like Odessa was still there, but when he cracked his eyes open there was no one there. Other than blurry feet nearing his cell.
He fell in and out of consciousness as he was dragged from the cells. Until he felt fresh air against his face and looked up to see the towering emerald buildings of the city. His wrists were shackled behind his back while he was leaning heavily on the two guards holding him up by his arms.
It was nighttime and quiet, but he could tell there were some people still around. Watching from a distance while whatever else was going on. He didn't care anymore.
Odessa felt guilt gnawing at her insides, threatening to tear her apart from within. She overheard bits of conversation around the Emerald City. Each was worse than the last:

She kept her promises - letting Feldspar go, not letting a single word slip about Elphaba, resisting the urge to try and stop any of this - even if it killed her.
And, sweet Ozma, it was killing her.
Odessa clamped her hand over her mouth to keep herself from...screaming, sobbing, getting sick, all of the above? Even she wasn't sure.
All she was sure of was that Fiyero was suffering, and there wasn't a damn thing she could do about it.
The sick glee the guards were showing made even more bile rise to her throat. She was torn between the urge to clamp her eyes shut and the knowledge that this would probably be the last time she ever saw his face again.
Fiyero was in no shape to fight the man back and when he tried to move away from him, Alfero would grab him by the broken ankle and pulled him back down. Using his baton to hit him again. "Enjoy your rest. We'll be taking you out tonight. Let's just say, you're not coming back here," the new Captain confirmed what Fiyero had suspected. A final hit with the baton sent his world spinning before unconsciousness pulled him under.
Alfero nudged the body with his foot and when he was satisfied that traitor remained unresponsive, he left to join the other two. "Let's go. Let Madam Morrible and the Wizard know we can go ahead with the execution tonight," he nodded before closing up and leaving the dungeons.
The moment she was sure she was out of earshot, Odessa pulled herself out of the shadows and crouched by Fiyero one more time. Just in case he could, she added:
"I love you."
She knew he was right. Damn him. Damn all of this.
When he pointed out she hadn't promised him, she snapped her attention back to him. She couldn't say no to those big eyes of his anyway, but like this? She didn't have the heart to argue again.
"I-I promise," she croaked out. "I promise, I will, I-"
Footsteps grew closer to them, echoing bit by bit. She cursed and reluctantly pulled away from the cage bars.
Fiyero pointed through the bars towards a dark corner, "Hide there. They never look there. Do not come out no matter what," he warned her. He didn't know what they wanted with him now, but he doubted it was anything good.
He didn't do much else than watch her move before eyes went to the door opening and three guards came in. Closing the door after them before coming over to the cell. "Evenin', traitor," the lead guard greeted him while unlocking the door. Light coming in and allowing Fiyero to see the new Captain of the Guards. "Well look at you. New job position, Alfero?"
The older man just laughed and nodded, "Of course. Our last Captain betrayed us, afterall," he pointed out, entering the cell. Leaving the other two to guard the room. "You are allowing the Wizard's propaganda to fool you," Fiyero said. Same thing as he had said multiple times before. Alfero sighed. "We're here to give you a last chance to tell us everything we need to know, but seems like you're still stubborn," he rolled up the sleeves of his shirt and Fiyero knew what that meant. "I'd like to call it being loyal," Fiyero defended quietly, "To the enemy!" Alfero shouted. "The wizard is the enemy!" yelled back as Alfero came at him with his baton.
Of course, he was making jokes, even now. She would've told him off if she weren't so scared for him.
"We can come up with something," she insisted, looking over her shoulder every other second just in case someone would stumble on them. "We...we can give them fake information, we can stall..."
He closed his eyes and shook his head, "Even if I lied to them, they wouldn't have let me go even if they were to find her. So it is either rot in here or die. The least risky thing would be to just... kill me," he sighed. They had broken his foot to keep him off his feet afterall.
"You still haven't promised me," he pointed out stubbornly. Eyes snapping open when he heard doors open somewhere nearby. "Someone's coming," he whispered.
"Don't talk like that! Don't talk like...like you're not making it out of this, you hear me?!"
She kept her voice as quiet as she could, but the tone was still a desperate plea. Hearing Fiyero sound so broken, like he'd accepted his fate...it felt wrong.
"Let's be realistic here," Fiyero said, picking at the golden fabric on his trousers. Eyes remaining on that rather than Odessa. "I am an enemy of the state now. They wouldn't put me down here if their intentions weren't to-" he trailed off, making a cutting movement by his throat with his free hand as if that was funny.
"Please take care of him. Let him loose. You know what they'll do to him if he stays here. Probably even worse considering he is my horse. My friend," he reminded her, "And most certainly don't give up Elphaba's location."
Of course, he was making jokes, even now. She would've told him off if she weren't so scared for him.
"We can come up with something," she insisted, looking over her shoulder every other second just in case someone would stumble on them. "We...we can give them fake information, we can stall..."
