Hana made sure the sun was still shining when she made her way to her father’s apartment, or else she would be scolded again. But the old habit of using a spell to open the front gates of the building was simply something hard to get rid of. She stomped loudly her way to his front door and, only then, knocked for more time than the necessary. “Father, open the door!” She said pressing her nose against the wooden door, hoping her voice would pass through it. The door was barely opened when she sneaked inside and clinged on his waist, grinning. “I brought my stuff, so I’ll spend the night, ok!?” She decided, even though she knew she should have asked first. “We can order chinese food, right!? I want dumplings and jajangmyun!”

He carefully set down only the toys he needed for that occasion he planned, basically kitchen stuff. He ‘cooked’ carefully pretty dishes and set a table for two with all his heart. He also added some real candy on the dinner because, well, he wouldn’t only play eating, he could eat as well. And when he was done, he run outside his room looking for his mom, that he found after a while. He jumped closer happily and held her hand. “Mama, I take you on a date!”
“Hm, I’m sure someone can give you that style. It’d look very lovely on you. But I think the princess lives in her magic palace by the sea. Kind of like Ariel.”
“Oh... I don’ has a magi’ castle...” She sighs a bit. “Bu’ I wans the hair! Do y’know where to ge’ the hair!?”
❅ — first christmas (maiti & yunho)
「 @magicflowershop 」
for the first time in years the home he lived in truly felt like what a home was supposed to be; warm, inviting, and though small, it still held a family. a tall (though artificial—for the needles weren’t sharp and potentially dangerous) tree was snuggled up into the corner of the living room, dressed with lights and a variety of colorful ornaments strewn about it, and the tree wasn’t the only decoration of the home either. the kitchen was covered in green, red & white, in the form of towels, dining ware, and cooling treats; and the rest of the living room adorned small nick-knacks, stockings, and other decorations. it was one of the first times in years that yunho had fully and truly gone all out with decoration—though he didn’t have to do it alone this year now that he had little maiti. taking in this realization made the male smile as he finished washing the dishes that had been used to bake cookies earlier in the evening. admittedly, he had had lovely holidays before with family & friends, but there was something in having the little one that he now called his daughter that made the season feel renewed and even brighter than before. with a warm smile over his features, yunho drew himself out of his thoughts and the kitchen, calling out to the little girl he had sent to the living room while he cleaned up. “maiti, are you ready to set out the cookies for santa?”
It felt incredibly comfortable to live with Yunho. She wasn’t used to such an empty place, nor being the only child around, nor having little to no daily chores, and she surely wasn’t used to receiving all the attention every single hour of her days. And she got used to everything very fast and wouldn’t change a thing in her life anymore, better than this, she wished she was Yunho’s daughter since always. Why did they take so long to meet? Thanks to her new life, the girl grew much more behaved, but her energy kept the same, that being said, despite spending the day busy with the decoration and the cookies, the girl sat close to the tv and decided to draw a bit for ‘Santa’ and daddy while watching a princess movie, or else she would be much bored. She was already on her third draw when the male called her. “Da cookies are ready!?” She asked excited, since it felt like forever since they were on the stove and, after that, being cooled down. Holding the draw addressed to the male she ran to the kitchen to check on their baking goodies. “Santa will like dem, right!?” She asked with a smile at the same time she extended her arms to be picked up.

Yunho had taken a bit of an extra length to make sure everything was ready for him to bring Maiti home with him. He had taken some time off of work that week to ensure the home was clean and spotless, piles of papers tidied into neat stacks and finishing touches put on the room that would be hers. That morning he double checked everything before he put himself together for the day, leaving the home at a prompt time (which was on some occasions a rarity for him, except for when it came to things that involved the little girl.) There was also to take in to consideration that the man was eager to leave for he had been waiting for the day ever since it was set, the day he could officially call Maiti his daughter. As soon as he arrived, he drew in a small breath, his eyes travelling to the familiar building as he climbed out of his car, his steps leading him to the shops door that he pushed open to enter. A right smile formed on his lips as soon as he saw her, arms automatically opening out to her, greeting with his usual warm, light tone. “There’s my precious little princess, are you all ready?”
Stomping her feet, there was no word coming from Mira that would calm the girl down, she was simply throwing a small trantrum because Yunho wasn’t there yet. But when the little bells above the door rang, she turned around with the brightest smile and ran towards the male without hesitation. Jumping on his arms, Maiti hugged him by the neck and snuggled the closer she could. “Supa ready, daddy!” She had the biggest dream when she placed a little peck over his lips and decided to not let go of the hug. Mira came right after, bringing her few belonging that the girl had forgotten in her little enthusiastic attack. “Can we go!? Can we!? I wanna go!”
She had no idea the young boy lived in an orphanage and when he held onto the hem of her shirt as they walked down the street, she couldn’t help but smile at how cute he was. “I trust you Jon.” She assured the young boy, and followed every step the boy did to get to the orphanage. “How many kids live there?”
“Ahn...” He hesitates, trying to count the kids that were currently living with him. “Many, many! Thousands!” The number wasn’t correct, but to him, it felt like they were a thousand kids, even though they were barely ten. “Jon’s fwiends are weaaally nice! You’ll like them!”
“Hmm,” She wasn’t sure about what he meant near the end, but she presumed that he was describing the noises he made, which she found very endearing and causing her smile to widen. “Is that so? Then, it won’t be too difficult although…” She chuckled. “Fairies are very good at sounding like something else.”
“Yeah!” The boys nods, clapping his hands while looking around as if he could get a glimpse of a fairy that was attracted by the claps. “Let’s call them, becase they’re pretty and nice and Jon likes them!”
It was a recuring question on her sleepless nights. Sometimes she would make another list of pros and cons for “Unnie” or “Umma”. Sometimes she thought Hana could pick something special to call her. Sometimes she felt like she would never call her anything because it felt like everything was against her in the adoption process. “I’ll talk to her about it. I’m sure she’ll find the best solution” She smiled at the girl. “So… would you mind telling me more about you?”

“She? But she’s just a little kid.” She blinked in curiousness. “Isn’t adults supposed to tell kids what to do?” Head tilting to the side, the girl had a genuine doubt in her mind right now. “I mean, at least it was like this where I cam from!” She explains herself, also that being a response to the other’s question. “I’m from th North, you know? North Korea. I was born here, but sent to spend my life there. No one wanted me here and funny thing is: no one wanted me ther either.” A sad chuckle scaped her, it was hard to hold that through the years, but she tried to stay positive. “But since I’m already a teenager, soon I’ll be an adult and I won’t have to worry if they like me or not, right?”
Sooyeon was a regular at these classes, though it was less because she needed to learn and more because she liked to assist those who were eager to learn. She particularly liked helping the few children who had come here alone. Parents accompanied most of them, wanting to learn alongside their kids so that they could spend time together. Others came by themselves, paying for the rather pricey classes from their own allowances. She resonated well with those children; her parents would never have attended classes like this with her. They would have considered it a waste of time.
Today was one of the days when she brought her own children with her, both Minjin and Miyun assisting on accompanying her. As they approached the building, Minjin and Miyun chattering happily with one another, Sooyeon spotted the boy standing a distance from the door, watching people walking inside. Sooyeon didn’t understand why people so easily passed by him, apparently caught up in their own worlds or assuming that the child’s mother must be nearby. But Sooyeon couldn’t go inside without checking on him. What if he was alone? What if something happened to him?
She stopped near the little boy, Minjin and Miyun stopping behind her to see what was going on. The kids hadn’t noticed him at first, too occupied with their conversation, but now that they were standing still and their discussion had halted, they were looking curiously at him. Sooyeon crouched down to be closer to his eye level, not wanting to intimidate him, especially if he was a shy boy like Minjin was, “Hello~” She smiled kindly, her eyes as gentle as her voice, “My name’s Sooyeon, and these two are Minjin and Miyun.” She introduced, gesturing to her son then her daughter as she spoke their names, “What’s your name?”
He was really surprised when, after being ignored every time he went to visit the place, someone actually came to him. He hesitated, watching the woman in front of him and the two kids that would stare at his way too big and way too old hoodie. It would be nice to have new pretty clothes, he thought, as he noticed how ‘fancy’ the little kids looked, compared to him. But he blinked his way back to Earth, and parted his lips, hesitating for a second. “Hi... I’m Jaehwan!” And he smiled, as always. “Nice to meet you, miss... And friends!” He bowed deeply, but kept smiling.
Sooyoung smiled, happy to see Hana like this. “I never did either but I thought we could try! And if we fail tu built it right, we can still eat the cookies so… It’s a win win situation anyway!” She nodded at the girl suggestion. Hana always brought her own vision and ideas to things.

“But if it gets too pretty!? Eonnie, I’ll feel pity to eat it.” She giggled out, laying a bit against the table to fuss more on the package’s contents. “I think we better fail, so we get to eat it all without feeling guilty!” She nods, too immersed on the sweets she was taking.
“Oh you do? Would you like a Hello Kitty plush?” she giggled softly as she reached out and fixed his hair.
“Do you have Hello Kitty Plush!? Jon wants!” He jumps happily, before stuffing his little hand on his pocket to pull few coins and show them to her. “It pay!?”
Merry Christmas
-an anonymous box all wrapped in green with a giant red bow is delivered to the orphanage with a note attached- “Merry Christmas to you kids. Santa wanted to drop by with some gifts for you all. Each gift card has 23,500₩. There’s gifts in here for each one of you to have. Much love! HoHoHo~”
“Why thank you, dear one! What might your name be?” the young woman asked as she knelt down to get a better look at the child.

“Jon!” He grinned and clumsly bowed. Jonathan was really hard for the little kid to pronounce, so intead, his nickname was what he used. “Jon likes Hello Kitty!”
“Your appa understands you can’t speak with him yet,” she smiled at him, “your sister is just a baby so you have to be careful with her. Flying is like magic. You are going to like it a lot.” It didn’t take long for them to arrive at the airport. Yoon Ji unbuckled herself and Junya before opening the door and getting out. Grabbing him she held him tight as her manager got a cart and put their things on it. “You ready?” she asked Junya, “once we get past checkpoint we can go buy you something from one of the stores. How does that sound?”
“A baby? Like doll?” He asks in his natural curiosity, opening his arms wide for her to hold him, then hugging her neck tightly as she walked inside the airport. “Plane!” He says happily, putting both hands together and making them ‘fly’ like a plane. “Yes!” The boy giggles, squishing her again. “Yes, candies!”
