Stuart raised his eyebrow at the mention of being in pain for a long time. He didn’t like the idea of chronic pain: that would seriously affect his own abilities as a shifter as well as a teenage boy. He’d been thinking about trying out for baseball the next summer. He sat there, trying not to move his arm from the position he had found, one that caused no pain. “Okay. Goddamn, I should have listened to my grandmother….” He sighed, bending his head forward to rest it in his hands, smirking when he felt the muscles in his shoulder pull and tense. “Yes, ma’am.” He reached his hand out, grabbing the jar from where the woman was offering it to him. He looked through the opaque glass, seeing something shift inside as he shook it. “What’s in this one?” He wondered aloud, flashing his eyes as he tried to get a better look at the contents of the jar.
Kel nodded sagely "I learned that when somebody older than you who has magic at their finger tips talks it's really a good idea to listen." Guessing what Stuart was thinking she tried to be at least a little sympathetic, even if it wasn't her strong suit. "Listen it will stop hurting unless you over work yourself, you just got to give it some time. After the damage itself heals it will take another 3 or 4 months before it doesn't pull or hurt even a little bit." While trying to be nice she noticed the fire had started to go down, glaring at it, causing the flames to jump and settle back into a constant flicker. Watching him look into the jar was kind of funny, biting back a grin she looked at the jar as well. "Nothing that taste good I can tell you that much. Also if your grandmother has magic she can probably show you how to make it yourself in case the pain stays with you longer than a few months."
"I just like it better when people don’t believe. It’s better to keep hidden that way anyways."
"I guess that's true, I think I'd rather people did believe. It's less lonely that way."
”Well then. Can’t say I thought you’d be a witch too.”
[ Lena gave a small smile, looking the girl over. In seconds, there was a bird sitting in her hands. She could tell that the girl hadn’t been around as long as she has, and was probably as old as she looked. Unlike her. ]
"I can say the same. So what's the deal with not wanting people to believe in magic?" With a single thought the unicorn vanished, as Kel smiled genuinely surprised and pleased.
”Yeah sure.”
[ She was tired, and didn’t really feel like dealing with the girl at the moment. But of course she’d been annoyed enough to say magic wasn’t real, and that always led to long conversations. But she liked it better when people didn’t believe. ]
"Ok, close your eyes for a second" Kel looked around, making sure there was nobody else near by. She didn't exactly have a unicorn in her back pocket but she knew how to improvise. Concentrating she slowly built an illusion, solidifying it until the unicorn itself was breathing it was beautiful if she did say so herself. The illusion unicorn even gave off steam in the air, snorting and stomped at the ground. "Alright, open." She really hope this wasn't one of those people who freaked out easily.
"Trust me. There’s nothing worth believing in."
"It's real, a lot of things are real that people don't believe in. What would prove to you magic is real? Would it take a unicorn?" Kel was only half joking, if the girl wanted to see a unicorn she could probably pull it off.
”I do. I would know. I’m a
Witch.
———Magician.”
"Just because you don't have magic doesn't mean it isn't real."
“It’s all just smoke and mirrors kid. Magic isn’t real.”
"Wow, aren't you just a boat load of fun. Besides who says magic isn't real?"
Uge I feel so akward! I keep asking people to rp and they'll either not respond at all or when they do they are all oh yeah sure let's do that. And then nothing happens? Like even if I make a starter. Am I doing something wrong?
Stuart grinned wider seeing the woman’s reaction. It made him feel better about his lack of empathy. “God. That must have been hilarious. It’s funny enough seeing really old Republicans blunder around when they see women wearing short shorts. But that, that takes the cake.” He reached his hands up, running his fingers over his short hair. He always wanted to let it grow out, but his mother liked it short. “Okay. Okay. Gosh. See, you’re one girl people with black cars don’t want to piss off. That’d be awful.” He shrugged, stretching his body upward before he had to stop, drawing his arm back with a sharp hiss. “Shit… Okay. Still tender. I don’t suppose you can play human doctor and tell me if this’ll get any better?” He ran his fingers over the gnarled pink flesh, feeling the sensitivity of the damaged nerve ends.
Trying to keep a straight face but the amusement showed in her eyes, "The dude asked me where my corset was. If I wasn't so scared I probably woulda bust a gut laughing." Her less than nice grin faded into concern at his pain, "Hey careful don't mess up my hard work. You being a shifter probably already screwed with it." Moving closer and slapping Stuarts hands away she moved the borrowed shirt to rake a look and hissed her sympathy. "Well, good news is you'll heal. Eventually, bad news is it may hurt for a long long time, especially before it's going to rain." Moving away from his shoulder to and over to the shelf of mixed herbs that her and her teacher had made and infused with power she started looking for the one she needed. "It will heal though, it just needs time, oh and don't switch forms to often for at least 2 weeks. You're skin and bones need to ajust and the magic I pumped into you will not play nice with your own." Grabbing the dry mixture in form of a green wax sealed mason jar she walked back to the couch. Sitting down and handing over the jar, "Ok so I hope you like tea cause you're gonna be sick of it before your better, brew any tea with 1 or 2 tablespoons of this stuff, 2 for the first week and 1 for the second. Fair warning it doesn't taste so good, but it will help with the pain. Two times every day for two weeks, got it?"
she’s so sneaky.
Stuart raised an eyebrow at the woman’s anecdote, his lip twitching up in the corner. “Well, if you were wearing pants, it’s no wonder they tried to burn you.” He made light of the story, not knowing if that would have been traumatic for her. One problem that caused this disjoint between himself and the emotions of others at the moment was the feeling of surrealism. Nothing seemed real at that moment. “I am being nice! I thanked you like a thousand time and let you make me sit naked on your couch. Which, I might add, was not the softest of materials for a bare ass.” He stuck his tongue between his teeth, smirking slightly. “Well, they didn’t understand. That, and she was pretty into Jesus and all that jazz. I thought that, since she was my friend, or I thought she was, that she would have at least listened to my story without hate.” The wound was still fresh in his memory, having taken place only months prior to his trip to the South. “You sound like you’d be a great vet. A human doctor? Not so much.”
Kel straight up laughed at his comment throwing her head back, "Oh my gosh the look on the priests face when he realized I was a girl! Not the best day to have been wearing skinny jeans let me tell you." She was glad for the teasing, also that she wasn't the only one who met awful stories with sarcastic one liners. "Yeah yeah, just keep being nice and I won't put a target one your head for birds to poop on." That she did know how to do. "That sucks, I never really had to deal with a friend thinking that. I moved around to often for me to become to attached to any one person." She gave him a wicked grin "Yeah can you imagine me a human doctor though? Maybe I'll look into it, who knows. Although I do have an entire swamp to look after." Kel never really thought about actually having something to do outside of the swamp, the thought hadn't actually crossed her mind until now. But maybe it was a possibility?
Reblog this if I'm allowed to answer your Open/IC posts.
I’m really scared and nervous, I see an open and I start to panic, I know I really want to answer it and sometimes I get the courage but usually I don’t. So this is more of assurance for me. Letting me know that you’re alright with me answering your open/IC posts.
"Wow. That must have been cool. And scary. But still, you were a part of the Salem witch trials. Like, wow." He thought about that for a moment, thinking about the fact he knew a person who had lived through the trials. Of course, he knew she had basically time traveled to get there, but she had experienced it. "Dragons? Wow. That would be amazing. I guess it’s a good thing the swamp didn’t choose to kill you, then, hm?" He grinned and crossed his legs on the couch. Only after he had finished eating did he finally take a good look around the room. His eyes gazed around, taking in the decor. It was very interestingly decorated, and a lot cliche. There were herbs drying on a rack on one side of the room. But it also included a lot of items that weren’t part of the cliche, such as the very couch he was sitting on. It was nothing very interesting, though, seeming just like every other person’s house, save the witchy things. "You and every other person who knows thinks that. Okay, not exactly true. Some people have condemned me to hell." He raised his eyebrows, recalling the day. "That sounds difficult. And obnoxious. Also like you could become a veterinarian."
"It was terrifying, I literally peed my pants when they tied me to that stake. I mean it was kind of cool after, the whole being apart of history thing." Even if she did still wake up some nights screaming, with the smell of burning flesh and choking black smoke. "Hey be nice or I'll have the swamp be mean to you." Total bluff, she couldn't do that, yet. Kel watched him look around the room and smiled to herself of what it must look like to an outsider. Mix mashed of witch craft and regular old house stuff. "Condemn you to hell? That isn't very nice, I hoped you bit them or peed in their bed or something afterwords." She knew all too well what it was like to be shunned for something you were capable of, something you were born with. "It is hard, but I like it. And their is no way in hell I would ever, while I'd never not help an animal in pain I'm not going to seek them out either. I can deal with people in pain a lot easier, I don't care as much. Animals however, I get messed up for weeks if I can't save." It was probably weird that she didn't care as much about the failure to save a human but with her parents occupation as assassins it was sort of normal for her at this point.
"Yeah. My dad and I moved here when I was younger. Been here ever since."
"Nice, I only recently found a place that I call home. Although it isn't here." Kel chuckled and held the door open to the coffee shop, "Anything particular you like?"
