alejandra was left on a random mansions doorstep when she was about 3 years old . the people inside the mansion were . . thankfully . . super fucking nice , and they basically adopted her ON SIGHT ( love u mr & mrs barrera )
alejandra doesn’t remember anything really about her birth parents . they left nothing with her . just this tiny girl , by herself, in the middle of the night , with the promise that ‘ somebody would come get her eventually ‘ . ( somebody come get her . .she’s dancing like a stripper . . )
BASICALLY this has shaped alejandra’s entire life . mr & mrs barrera were god damn angels. they took her in , because they had lost their own child many years ago and were waiting for a Sign , and alejandra was IT ! honestly, they were so happy to suddenly have this little girl in their lives ?
because of this , they definitely spoiled alejandra . the sky was the limit , AND THEN SOME ! they let her do anything . everything . because of this , she became very independent at a young age and kinda just literally always did what she wanted , when she wanted to do it . mr & mrs barrera were honestly such good parents to her , but did alejandra ever call them ‘ mum and dad ‘ no matter how much they wanted her to ? hell no ! she was sticking out ( and still is ) , for whoever her birth parents are . she holds a very tight , secretive hope inside of her that one day her birth parents will come back for her .
alejandra knew she was trans from a very young age , and honestly . . mr & mrs barrera were so supportive they did not give one single fuck , they were like u do u honey ! they supported her no matter what , and helped her transition and basically made everything as simple as possible . she was very lucky and privileged in that fact , because she is very very out and loud and proud about who she is .
alejandra is primarily based on jackson whittemore from teen wolf . with a dash of caroline from vampire diaries , and allison from umbrella academy , and tahani from the good place ! basically . . she chases perfection . she literally NEEDS everything to be perfect at all times . she literally was that little girl in school who would make a set of Rules for every game played . who’d scream and howl and cry if she got anything less then 100 or an A+ . alejandra needs to be the best . all the time . everytime .
for the most part . . she is the best . alejandra can do everything she sets out to because she is so god damn determined to do it , and do it perfectly . she is captain of the females hockey team at strathmore ( unless anybody else is yike ). she’s a solid member of the debate team . she helps out with charities and hosts gala nights . she’s always moving , and basically never stands still for too long .
alejandra is very very hard on herself . extremely hard on herself . nobody expects more from alejandra then alejandra does
when she found out about the opal society , she wasn’t surprised they picked her . she was surprised to find out just how elite and closeknit they were . basically , she saw the potential for Family within them . she only just recently stumbled across the news that her adopted father was also once a member . she kinda hates the idea that he might be the reason why she was chosen . alejandra very much loves the last name ‘ barrera ‘ and the weight it holds to it , but she wants a name for herself , too. she wants to prove to every member of the opals , past and present , that she is very capable on her own .
that being said . . at first , alejandra may seem bossy or controlling , or Intense . she absolutely is . HOWEVER , once you get to know her more , she is romantic and soft and an extremely loyal and empathetic friend to have . if you wanna call her up and cry about ur boyfriend for the 1000th ? she’ll listen and not interrupt once . she is tense , but she does let herself relax with a Select few people . ( people will be surprised to hear her laugh or Smile )
alejandra is very flighty at times . she does not build connections super easily because she’s scared of being abandoned or left out . therefore , she’s almost a bit like a politician ??? ( hence the IR major ) . she is likeable , and Solid , and has a practiced ‘ public laugh ‘, and image , which she rarely breaks or let people See Past . she holds people at a perfectly measured distance . alejandra needs to be loved and liked and adored . but she doesn’t Reciprocate that easily .
she is v watchful and observant
she also blows up very easily over sometimes very small things ( e.g a messy tie , or a drink being put down without a coaster dfjkndfjnk ) . she can be very explosive and angry at times , but mainly she’s angry at herself for not having somehow Foreseen that something would be Less Than Perfect ( she really holds herself up to this impossible standard )
