River Frog (Lithobates heckscheri), family Ranidae, found in the SE United States

The tadpoles of this species are capable of over-wintering through up to 2 winters, and overwintering tadpoles get rather large, growing up to 97 mm (3.8 in). 

The above individual was handled under permit for a scientific study, and was released after capture.
