Menzoberranzan, or the City of Spiders, is a gigantic underground Drow city-state. It is located in the Upper Northdark, about two miles below the Surbrin Valley, between the Moonwood and the Frost Hills. Menzoberranzan is possibly the most well known drow city in Faerûn. It was the home of Drizzt Do’Urden, and many of his early adventures deal with the political intrigue and characters of the city.

The seismic and volcanic activity on this continent must be insane, I mean look at all those mountain ranges randomly in the middle of everywhere. There must be like 80 tectonic plates all smashed together. Not to mention the Calim Desert, which is inexplicably surrounded by water and not in a rain shadow at all…
WORN:Â Right Middle Finger
ABILITIES:Â Fire Resistance, defends and protects against any fire related spells and fires in general.
the chess player
There’s three kinds of people in Jarlaxle’s eyes: There’s the pawns that are to be used, where he never spares a second thought wether or not they might live through the attack. Their strength comes in numbers. Alone they are worth next to nothing. Then there’s the knights and bishops, definetely the queen as well. Those are the ones you want to keep for as long as possible. They’re the true forces on your battlefield. He uses them wisely. In the end, though, there’s the king that must never fall. There’s always one person in Jarlaxle’s eyes that he absolutely needs to keep. He doesn’t mind that this person can only move one field per move. This one king possibly gets the most attention, the most care, is loved the most. The king’s precious, unique. He must never fall. If Jarlaxle loses him - he loses the game.
And here’s the thing: Even if Jarlaxle loses the game, he might be disappointed in himself for some time, but ultimatively, he’ll start a new game. He’ll search for new pawns, bishops and queens and yes, also a new king. He doesn’t let himself get down if he loses a game. As long as he lives there’s still lots of other matches to be played. And that’s why he’ll never get along with anybody for a longer period of time. People don’t like being pieces in another person’s game. Maybe one day he will realize that he doesn’t need more pieces on his chessboard. What he needs is another player.
