The sad giant and the herbalist witch is a fairy tale, lesbian romance🌈 filled with symbolism, flowers, and finding ways to heal trauma. It's a A5 zine of 26 pages and all the drawings inside are made with watercolor ! During YCon, I sold it at 7 euros :3

Frida & Sarah by mairithetree
Today for bi visibility day 💗💜💙, celebrated in France and in many other countries, I wanted to share with you a special piece I worked on for the last few days.
Sarah Bernhardt (1844 - 1923) in her Hamlet costume and Frida Kahlo (1907 - 1954) in masculine clothes side by side, two bisexual women who marked art history in different eras. It's a hommage to art nouveau as well and to Mucha who portrayed Sarah Bernhardt in many illustrations. Most of the flowers represented as patterns are flowers Frida had worn in her hair 💖💕

I cherish this illustration very deeply because this is how I strongly connect with my bi/pansexuality visually speaking : it's intricate, fluid, and colorful.
Going to see exhibitions about Sarah Bernhardt and Frida Kahlo this year had marked me and helped me a lot with the proccess of defining myself. That's why I wanted to draw them together 💖

An exploration of my two fave characters from the respective shonen MHA 🎇and shojou Fruits Basket 🌸 There are so many things that resonate between Izuku and Tohru that my mind keeps going back to them : how they’re filled with a deep anxiety, but manage to keep smiling, and spreading joy around them, how they question their self-worth and always strive to do better to the point of exhaustion, how they’re terrified of losing their loved ones and how fiercely they protect them, and finally how they see the good potential in others and forgive💗
I invented a small AU in which Tohru falls into the MHA universe by accident and desesperatly wants to go home to see her loved ones again. During a panic attack moment, Izuku meets her and befriends her. And of course, he helps her to go home ✨

Another watercolor illustration with the fire witch and her mercenary partner.
After long and tiring battles, her fire magic drains out of her body. She needs to regain some of her energy by absorbing external sources. Her partner lights her a fire each night so she can take in it. There are only the sounds of cracking wood, embers flying out, and animals lurking around.
The atmosphere and colors are inspired by the paintings of Félix Vallotton <3 : link
Between the pandemic, war raging in many countries, and climate change, it’s hard to live without being pessimistic and extremely anxious about the future. Especially, when all of it seems very unstable.
Don’t lose sight of what you’re capable to do as an individual, what you can bring to others, how you can help them, and how you can bring joy to yourself as well. I hope this picture will bring you a spark of inspiration and hope.
