"I Like'em Big" - Simon "GHOST" Riley x reader (sfw)

Summary: Y/N wears Simon's hoodie, wears her hair down for the first time, and Simon doesn't know what to do with himself.

Word Count: 2800+

Warnings: military reader, 141 interactions, bar shenanigans, alcohol consumption, reader has long hair, Simon being completely enamoured by reader, he's a big softie for her, fluff

a/n: not proofread. Hope this wasn't OOC for Ghost, I really tried to keep him as himself from the 2019 Modern Warfare game.

Surprisingly, the ride back to base wasn't filled with the usual silence that coincided with exhaustion. Instead, it was filled with the sounds of celebration and joking quips, mostly from Gaz and Soap but the others were listening, amused by their antics. 

"I say we head to the bar, just outside the base." Soap suggested, giddiness clear in his tone. 

Gaz nudged him, "That sounds good, brother."

Soap then turned his attention to Price, "What do ye say, Captain? You in?"

Price gave a little nod, exhaling the smoke from his cigar. "I could use a drink."

"What about you, L.T? Y/N? Fancy a drink?" Soap asked the pair, who sat next to each other. 

The big, burly Brit gave a low hum which to anyone who didn't know him would've thought that was a clear no, but Soap laughed and Y/N smiled. "I say that's a yes."

He looked to Y/N, "That only leaves you, lass."

Y/N shook her head, waving a hand to brush off his proposal. "I think I'll pass." Ghost turned his head to look down at her.

"Oh come on." Gaz complained in the back while Soap crossed his arms. 

"What do ya got to get back at base to that's so important that ya wouldn't want to go with us?" Soap argued, his voice laced with playful intent. 

She snickered. "Take a shower for one."

"Are ya serious?" Soap huffed. 

"Look, I know you might like walking around like a human dust cloud but I can feel the dirt in places I'd rather not mention."  Y/N teased, and smirked his way.

She glanced over to Gaz who had let out a small laugh, which made her laugh quietly to herself. 

Soap leaned forward, "Come on, we don't need another ghost disappearin on us."

Y/N shook her head, "I'm not disappearing on anybody."

"Then come with us." Soap continued to prod.

The two stared at each other for a long moment before Y/N sighed and threw her arms in the air in mock annoyance. "Fine, I guess I'll come but only if I can change first." 

"Deal." Soap grinned as he held out a fist toward Y/N. She lifted a fist of her own, and bumped it against Soap's then leaned back in her spot in the plane.

Soon, the team made it back to base, filtering off the carrier plane one by one, and chatting amongst themselves. Price came off the plane first, followed shortly by Soap and Gaz then Ghost and Y/N. It was already dark out, the fluorescent lights from inside the base beaming out and onto the concrete floor that made up the helipad. 

Once stepping inside, Y/N departed from the men, reassuring Soap that she would meet them in the parking lot once she changed out of her uniform. She b-lined for her room, locking the door behind her and heaving a sigh, letting her shoulders relax and allowing herself a moment to herself. Even though she agreed to go out with the guys, Y/N was utterly exhausted; it seemed to take great effort just to breathe. It was as if her lungs were beyond their limit and wanted to rest. 

But Simon was going out too, while not rare, he never went out consistently. More often than not, he opted to stay behind and get some sleep. There were also occasions when he and Y/N would make tea in the break room and talk about everything and nothing in the lulling moments when the base was quiet. 

She loved those moments, appreciating the fact that on their off time, Simon liked to share his time with her. As much as she loved the guys, Simon provided an unknown incentive to go to the bar.

Y/N sighed, trudging over to her cot to undress. She traded her grimy uniform for a pair of clean jeans, a white tank top, and her typical combat boots. However, it was a bit cold outside so she decided to grab a hoodie. Her eyes immediately found the one that she kept folded at the end of her bed. 

It was a standard black hoodie, no flashy design or words, a simple color with nothing else. This hoodie was special though as it belonged to a certain 6'2" Lieutenant.

Y/N smiled to herself as she grabbed it and pulled it over her head. It hung loose on her body, the hem of it touching her mid thigh and the sleeves engulfed her arms but she felt safe in it., protected. She couldn't help to thumb at the fabric of the collar, thinking for a second before she dipped her nose down to breathe in the smell of it. 

Despite having worn the hoodie multiple times (mostly when she slept), the musky scent of Simon lingered there. It smelled of an earthy cologne that Simon wore, smoke with a twinge of metal.  She hummed at the scent, but before she got too caught up in her own mind, she grabbed her phone, wallet, and headed out to the parking lot. 

Y/N knew exactly where Soap parked his truck so she made a b-line straight for it, not too far from the front doors of the base. Walking out into the parking lot, she saw that the guys were already standing and waiting by the black pickup. 

Soap was the first one to see, and as soon as he did, his eyes widened. "Jesus, lass! You look like yer gettin swallowed whole inside that thing!" 

Simon whipped his head around to see what the commotion was about, his heart skipping a beat when he got a good look at Y/N, wearing his hoodie. 

Y/N felt the slightest bit sheepish at Soap's comment, but tried not to let it show. "I do not." She retorted, "It's windy out here and I'm cold." 

She walked past Soap to head towards Simon who stood beside the backdoor. Before she got in she glanced over her shoulder at the Scot. "Besides, I like'em big."

For a brief second, Y/N's eyes flicked from Soap to narrow in on Simon as she said that, picking up at the quick breath he took and held it in. She smirked then quickly climbed into the back seat. 

Simon briefly locked eyes with Soap, seeing a boyish smirk on the Sergeant's face. He huffed, then followed Y/N into the truck. 

He knew he shouldn't have let it slip to Johnny about his "admiration" for Y/N or else he wouldn't have that shit eating grin on his face.

Soap only laughed before climbing into his truck. Price sat up front with him while Simon, Y/N and Gaz sat in the back. It was a tad of a squeeze (mostly due to Simon's large stature), but it wasn't so bad. Though Gaz was the second to gawk at Y/N's ginormous hoodie, and she laughed saying that the bigger the hoodie, the more comfortable to which he then asked the rhetorical question of 'what is it with girls and hoodies?'

The team laughed, Simon on the other hand, kept peeking down at Y/N seeing her completely covered by the black fabric, remembering the night he gave it to her. It had been a night of hushed conversation, a shared moment of privacy among the chilled air, and as she shivered in her spot beside him, he took only a second to stop and pull off his sweatshirt then plop it in her lap. 

She had been stunned, it was evident from the look she gave, but she wasted no time pulling the fabric over her head. Once it engulfed her figure, she let out a relieved hum, a smile and tucked her face into the collar of it. 

Simon loved the way it hung around her, like she belonged inside of it. 

On any given day, Simon would not have done something that was clearly so intimate to him, but this was a moment that Y/N and him shared alone, without the eyes of anyone on base. However, seeing Y/N wearing it now with everyone to see felt scandalous, if he had to label it; a deeper peek into his psyche.

He couldn’t decide if he liked that or not. 

The sharp pause of the vehicle into a parking spot, provided Simon an escape from the suddenly hot air of the truck as he hopped out. Once everyone stepped out, following Soap, they all headed toward the bar. It was a small, modest place, nothing fancy but it would keep them busy for the next few hours. Soap walked up to the bars' counter to sit down, followed by all of 141.

Y/N sat beside Soap, who was already ordering a drink, and Simon came up to the empty seat to the right of Y/N with Price and Gaz sitting closer to Soap.

“Keep the drinks to a minimum, would you Soap? Last time you got drunk, we had to drag you back to the base.” Y/N pointedly suggested.

Soap scoffed, “Oi, are you my mother? I can handle myself.”

At that, Y/N let out an amused laugh coming from the gut. “No you can’t. You were so out of it that you thought you were being kidnapped when we hoisted you up into Price’s truck.” 

Soap paused for a moment, eyes drifting upward as if he were searching through his memories of that night. “I don’t remember that.”

“You wouldn’t remember, mate.” Gaz chirped in, “You’d put a sailor to shame with as much drink as you had.”

“More like the whole ship.” Price added with a huffed smirk and then took a drink of his whiskey. 

Y/N readjusted in her seat as she turned to slightly face the Scot, “I had to keep Ghost from killing you; you’d kicked him right in the ribs and you better believe you owe me.”

“Ah, Ghost woulda’ kill me. He’s too fond of my daring personality.” Soap teased, leaning forward to peer around Y/N to look at Simon. 

“Don’t count yourself lucky, Johnny. A kick to the ribs makes a compelling argument for killin’ ya.” Simon simply stated, thick accent and husky voice making him sound serious. 

Y/N chuckled to herself however at his obvious banter, taking a sip of her drink. 

A loud pfft sound left Soap’s mouth, waving off Simon’s words and swallowing his bourbon down in one go. 

Soap set his glass down onto the bar with a thud before he spoke again. “And of course, the only thing that could stop the giant was the fluttering eyes of our lass here.”

If she was honest with herself, that very idea made Y/N’s heart flutter and unconsciously, she bit her bottom lip, sparing a subtle glance up to Simon. His dark eyes glowed in the ambient light of the bar, casting a shadowed glare toward the Scot in an oddly defensive way.

He said nothing, but he didn’t have to. His expression said it all. 

“Aww, don’t get bent out of shape LT. No man could resist such beauty.” Soap holds up his hands in fake surrender.

“Shove off, Soap.” Y/N playfully pushed the Scot at the same time he slipped off his bar stool.

“Anyone want to play a round of pool?” Soap offered, taking a step back from Y/N’s strong left hook.

Gaz nodded, quickly finishing his drink and ordering another. “I’m in.”

“I suppose I could weigh in.” Price says, slipping out of his seat and following Soap and Gaz to the empty pool table off to the corner. 

Y/N leaves no time for Simon to give a definitive answer while she hops off her bar stool, leaving her cup behind. “May as well. You coming, Simon?”

She glances over her shoulder and It’s obvious that he is caught off-guard, making a great effort to look unaffected. However, he hums and gets up from his seat. 

He seems to automatically trail behind Y/N in her path to the pool table, where the rest of the team is waiting. 

“You and LT are a team; Gaz and I are a team. Alright with you two?” Soap automatically assigns, watching Y/N shrug. 

“Sounds good to me.” Y/N smirked, already picking up a pool cue.

While Soap and Gaz grab their own pool cues, Y/N takes this opportunity to let her hair (literally), pulling the hair band from the tight bun she had it in and letting the tresses fall to her shoulders. 

Simon watches as the thick strands fall from the bun, and lightly bounce once they hit her shoulders and back. The cool air of the bar wafting from outside, breezes past Y/N and into Simon; there’s a scent of gunpowder with an underlying smell of a fruity soap from her shampoo. 

Those two types of scents don’t belong, Simon thinks, however, he cannot deny that it suits Y/N in an odd way and he takes a moment to commit it to memory. 

“Woah, Y/N…” Gaz comments, looking up from the pool table. 

Soap whips his head up from aligning the cue ball with the solid and striped ones. “How the hell do you keep all that wrapped up?” 

“I’m just magic like that.” Y/N smirks, running her fingers through her hair to massage the soreness on her scalp. 

“Teach me your magic?” Gaz teases Y/N as he steps over to her. 

She hums, “I don’t know Gaz, you actually have hair in order to learn my ways.”

The group laughs as Gaz nudges her away from him, all in good fun of course. 

She takes the opportunity to spare a glance up to Simon, seeing that he is staring down at her with a shine in his eyes that tells her only the good things about what he must be thinking. Before he catches it, she smirks and turns back to the others to begin their game. 

From that moment on, for the rest of the evening, the tension grew with each passing second. Only ripening, the few times during their pool match, when Y/N leaned down to shoot her shot, and she would slide back to stand straight up, there Simon would be; looming shadow over her while keeping a respectful distance. 

It was all palpable in a way that only Y/N and Simon knew, but not bursting at the seams. No, it was slowly simmering, waiting for the right opportunity to be released. 

By the time the night ended, the boys buzzed and chipper, the squad made it back to base with little to no problems, from Soap that is who made it apparent that he was perfectly consciousness.

It got a laugh out of them, as Simon and Y/N departed and were finally alone.

They were heading to their respective rooms, the heavy thud of their boots hitting the ground, the only sound between them as they walked down a long corridor. It remained that way until Y/N broke the silence.

“Did you have fun, Simon?” 

He looked to her from the invisible spot on the ground that he’d been watching, “As much fun as I could, I suppose.”

“Me too. It’s nice to relax every once in a while.” She hums contently. 

“I imagine it’s not difficult to relax when you have a sweatshirt that’s two sizes too big.” Simon remarks, hearing Y/N laugh as he does. 

“You have a point there!” 

There’s a brief pause before Simon speaks up again, “Do you fancy wearing clothes that swallow you whole?”

She stops in her path, suddenly standing in front of her room door, one that Simon almost missed as he came to an abrupt stop. “Only when I’m attached to it.”

They stand and stare, soaking in the implications, and reveling in the secret between them. 

Simon, in a moment of courage he’s not sure where it came from, raises a calloused hand to gently slide his index finger against the skin of her cheek. “Well, I’d say it suits you.”

Y/N smiles, eyes crinkling at the edges in a softness that she doesn’t direct to just anyone. No, this is only for him because despite all the teasing and flirting, that is not where her affection stops. Not when her heart is thundering beneath her ribcage with her skin completely flushed with desire. 

Without much thought, Y/N leans forward, forcing herself up onto her tippy toes and plants the softest of kisses to his cheek. Though it's covered by his balaclava, he feels the pressures of her lips against him, the warmth of them seeping past the mask and into his skin so much so, that when Y/N eventually pulls away, he leans forward the slightest bit to keep her there. 

Her eyes flick up to meet his, shining with something unspoken yet recognized as wanting. However, she doesn’t act on it, instead she keeps the small distance between their bodies and whispers three simple words. 

“Good night, Simon.”

"Stay Close" - Leon Kennedy x reader (sfw)

Summary: All it took was one night to completely change their lives.

Warnings: RE2 Leon, if the outbreak didn’t happen on Leon’s first day as an officer, established relationship, spoilers for cannon events, angst, blood, injury, gore, cursing

a/n: not proofread. I apologize in advance because I was trying to keep this in line with the events that happen in Resident Evil 2, and make reader a part of it, but it may have gotten a little lost in the plot. Hope you enjoy anyway.

The city had completely gone to hell. There were abandoned cars lining the streets, there were state barricades blocking certain roads so that traffic couldn’t move through it, and more importantly there were the infected stumbling around and attacking anything that caught their eye. 

In their journey to get to the station, Leon and Y/N were separated from Claire after the crash and though they were worried, she yelled over the fire and rain that she’d meet up with them. 

They hesitantly parted ways to head inside of R.P.D. It was easy to get in as the front door wasn’t blocked off and from there they took a look around, searching for anyone that might still be there. 

It wasn’t long before they encountered an officer trying to escape from under a metal gate, screaming and begging for help. They tried but the infected got to him first; Leon and Y/N pulled on the man’s arms, his upper came through but his other half had not. Instead, his entrails scraped across the floor with a sickening wet sound that almost caused Y/N to vomit. 

Despite having seen the same brutalistic death, Leon quickly turned her away and led them down a nearby hallway. 

That’s what led them to having to crawl under another metal door, barely open but often to get through. Leon pushed Y/N to go first, which she protested for a half a second before the sounds of growling echoed toward them. 

The rookie practically shoved her underneath before he followed her. Unfortunately, just as he got halfway, something tried to grab him. He kicked it away, hardly noticing that Y/N snatched his hand to pull him towards her. Once he was fully inside, another human being came out of nowhere, crushing the infected skull between the metal door and the ground. 

When they looked up, they saw Lieutenant Branagh standing there, covered in blood and skin awfully pale. 

“You two are safe…for now.” He huffed, the words seeming difficult to say. 

Leon pants on the ground, adrenaline pumping through his veins. “There was another officer, I couldn’t…I couldn’t.” He stops, closing his eyes, voice wavering as he tries to compose himself. 

Y/N stares at him with sympathetic eyes, wanting to comfort him but no words come to mind as she’s still reeling from what she saw. 

“I’m sure you did what you could, Leon.” Branagh reassures, keeping a hand pressed tightly to his injured side. 

Lieutenant Branagh led them back to the lobby area, sitting down on a bench next to a laptop. 

“You’ll need weapons and vests; head back to the armoury and grab them. I’ll wait here.” Branagh suggested, gesturing to one of the entrances behind them, signaling where the locker would be. 

Y/N and Leon exchanged looks before turning their attention back to Branagh. “We’ll be right back, I promise.” Leon assures. 

All the Lieutenant does is nod, grimacing in pain and leans against the bench he sat on. 

Leon then grabs Y/N’s hands, and leads her to the armoury Branagh spoke of. They navigated through numerous doors, long, dark hallways, but eventually they made it there. Once inside, Leon made sure the door was locked so they could get ready for whatever was out there undisturbed.

“Wait here for a second, I’m gonna find you a vest.” Leon prompted, beginning to look for a bullet proof vest without waiting for Y/N to respond. 

She stands helplessly in the middle of the room, watching Leon search around the room for any protective wear he could find for them both. At some point, Leon came back with a couple of uniforms, RPD uniforms. 

He sat one set onto a chair nearby, picking up one of them to hand out to Y/N. “We should change. These uniforms will give us better protection than what we have on right now.”

“Me? But I’m not a cop.” Y/N protested, the thought of how ridiculous she sounded crossing her mind. 

They were inside a huge police station with zombies around, who would care?

For just a moment, Leon huffed; barely a smile playing at his lips. “I doubt there will be anyone to question it, and at least this way, I know you’ll be safer.” 

Y/N said nothing as her shaky fingers lifted to take the dark blue uniform from him. 

Leon awkwardly pivoted on his foot to turn away from her. “I won’t look while you change, I promise.”

Soon, his back was fully facing her, and Y/N offered him the same courtesy and turned away from him. 

Wordless silence was exchanged, nothing other than the rustling of them peeling back their clothes filling the space between them, and the little huffs of breath that left the other’s lungs. In a way, that brought them comfort because without their eyes on each other, anxiety pounding against their ribs, but if they could hear each other’s breathing then they knew the other was alive. 

No more than a few minutes later, both were sporting new blues and boots. Y/N reached down to strap on a duty belt, fiddling with it for a couple of seconds as this was new territory for her. She felt a slight pang of jealousy the moment her eyes flicked up to meet Leon who already slipped on his belt, vest and was now moving onto the elbow and knee pads. 

Y/N managed it though, pulling the belt tight around her waist so that it won’t come loose. Next, she grabs her own vest; it’s separated into two flaps that are secured by four straps that are made of velcro. She awkwardly slips the vest over her head so that it rests on her shoulders, then she tries to reach to the side to grab the straps, but as she grabs one the elastic pulls itself from her hand. 

She tried a few more times, before a hand, Leon’s hand, reached out to the vest. “Let me help  you.”

With no protest or rebuke, Y/N allows Leon to take the lead here seeing as he is an actual cop and knows how to properly put on the uniform. He seamlessly maneuvers the vest straps exactly where he wants them, tightening them a few times before taking a step back. 

“Is that too tight?” He asks, eyes lingering on Y/N’s face and taking in her pensive expression. 

She shakes her head, “No, it’s fine.”

Leon silently nods, taking an extra minute to check over her duty belt, inserting the radio through one of the pockets hanging on the strap and pulling the receiver to sit at the top of the vest itself where it belonged.

Just for good measure, he adjusted the holster for Y/N as well, checking in once more to make sure it was snug but not uncomfortable. “Is that good?”

She nods, “Yeah. Thank you”

He nods his head back to her in a silent, you’re welcome then taking a step back to grab the pair of them a weapon. 

Y/N focuses on the elbow and knee pads nearby, leaning over to strap the knee pads on; left knee then right knee. Once they were secured, she moved onto her arms; left elbow then right elbow, pulling them tightly enough to stay where they belonged. 

Off to her left, she hears the sound of sliding metal, and a quick click into place. Her eyes wander over, seeing Leon racking the slide in his service weapon. She continues watching him as he picks up another handgun, pushing a full magazine inside, and again racking the slide to load the chamber. 

Leon then turns the gun around in his hand, gripping the barrel and extending the handle side toward Y/N. “Here. Safety’s on.”

Y/N carefully reaches for it, grasping the handle gently in her hands, taking in the weight of carrying a gun; the responsibility of it setting in her stomach. She keeps her finger off the trigger as she switches off the safety, eyeing it for a moment before holstering it.

Then there is silence, aside from the unnatural shifting of the RPD due to the overwhelming infected inside, clambering around mindlessly; the slightest squeaking coming for the pipes sticking their minds like glue and the soft puffs of breathing. 

Leon takes a sharp breath, stepping closer to Y/N mere inches away as he raises his hand to hold her shoulders. “Once we step out there, you stay with me. I’ll keep you covered and I trust you to do the same. Okay?”

Y/N solemnly nods, however the moment she does her face tells another story. She shakes her head, attempting to will away the onslaught of tears. “Leon, I’m scared.”

Quickly, his hands rush up to cup her face, pushing himself closer as his own heart caught on his throat seeing her so afraid. “It’s okay, it’s okay to be scared. I’m scared too and I’m going to keep you safe no matter what, but right now, in this moment; I need you. I need you to be with me so we can make it out of this.”

She stares up into his bright blue eyes, seeing the fear but also the steel resolve to stay alive. It’s overwhelming, and it makes two small tears fall, her lip quivering as she nods again.

Leon managed the barest of smiles, then leans down to pull her lips to his. It’s deep, soft, the meshing of souls constituted by a promise of fighting with everything he had to keep her alive, because while he hadn’t gotten around to saying it: he loved her and he wanted to leave her with no doubt. 

With a light smack of lips separating, they both let out a peaceful huff of breath as they soaked in the last after glow of repose before the inevitable brutality of what the world let them in the wake of this infection.

One more breath, and Leon pulled back to get one more undisturbed look at her face. “Ready?”

She bit her bottom lip, chewing lightly on it then releasing it to speak. “Ready.”

Flashlights in hand, guns at the ready, they began their trek through the Raccoon City Police Station.

Somehow despite all they faced together, of course there came a point in which Leon and Y/N were separated, cut off from each other as infected swarmed in to maul them to death. 

A part of the underground collapsed, creating a giant wall of debris. There were gaps in between the heavy stone where Y/N could just barely see Leon beyond it. However, the sound of stone thudding against the ground lured in the infected that remained causing Leon to shout at Y/N to run and they he’d meet up with her somewhere else. 

Y/N wanted to refuse, wanted to say she’d find a way through but that would be false hope as her mind saw there was nothing she could do to get back to Leon except leave.

Begrudgingly, Y/N did as Leon said, running away, dodging between infected as they growl and reach out to tear her to shreds. Her footsteps thunder against the concrete floor that abruptly morphed into metal platforms that descended further below, stairs circling a giant lab down below. She traverses the cavern, closing off a path so that the infected couldn’t follow her down, picking off a few as she enters a lab-like room sectioning off to the left.  

Their bodies drop with a resounding thud to which Y/N keeps her fun trained on them for a moment or two to make absolutely sure they are dead. For real this time. 

Once she realizes they are, she begins searching around the room for some type of map or route signs inside the lab to see if there is any way that she might be able to double back to find Leon and get the hell out of this place.

To no surprise, Y/N finds nothing of the sort. Figures. Why would a map be inside of a lab? The scientists down here would have been more than familiar with the facility. 

“Damn..” Y/N harshly mutters to herself.

She takes another look around the room, pivoting her head until she spots a metal door at the corner. There’s no scanner or card reader, only an ordinary door with an ordinary silver handle. In only a few feet, Y/N covers the distance, grasping the cold metal handle, and pushing down. Her instinct upon opening the door, is to scan whatever is beyond before she takes full step out, scanning the area for any enemies. 

When a handful of seconds pass, she decides it’s safe and ventures out of the lab. The slams closed behind her the moment she lets go, but she spares no glance while she cautiously walks down a darkened hallway. 

The air reeks, replicating the smell of garbage only worse. Y/N forces herself to take smaller breaths so that the odor wouldn’t afflict her, even if slightly.

She further treads lightly down the hall, trying to mask her presence as much as possible, and there is a moment when Y/N thinks there’s a possibility she’s completely alone. However, the distinct lull of voices shatters that thought.

It’s not immediately clear what they’re saying, or if it’s male or female, what is clear is that there are indeed people down here and there is not a high chance that it’s someone friendly based on what she’s already encountered. 

As quickly as it started, the voices abruptly come to an end and it sends a spike of fear through Y/N causing her to hurry her pace.

“Do they know I’m here?” Y/N thinks to herself, jogging now until she meets the end of the hall. Then there’s a set of footsteps, close, and closing in on her position. 

Y/N is quick to duck at the corner, hidden from whoever is coming down the hall, raising her gun to confront the person coming up on her fast. As soon as she spots this person at the corner of her eye, she whip[s around, gun raised to confront them. 

“Stop right there!”

Except, it’s not a random scientist, but Claire. Recognition encompasses her face, quickly lowering her gun and stepping forward at a stunned Claire. “Claire?”

Claire breathes a sigh of relief, “Y/N? You’re down here too?”

Y/N nods, eyes flicking down to the young girl laying motionless in Claire’s arms. “Who’s that?”

“This is Sherry, and she’s sick so I need to get her down to the lab to cure her.” Clarie already begins to walk away causing Y/N to follow.

“How do you know you can cure her?” Y/N frantically asks, seeing a giant cable car only the moment they are right next to it.

Claire steps up first, the interface granting access due to Sherry’s level one bracelet. The big heavy doors slide open with a smooth electric hum and Claire wastes no time walking in and laying Sherry down on the flat metal bench, pressed against the wall. Y/N follows her in and watches Claire flip a lever and the doors close, signaling the cable car going into motion.

“Her mother is one of the scientists who is a part of Umbrella. She said whatever she’s got in her lab could cure her.”

The cable car juts out from its locking mechanism and begins its slow descent further underground. 

“And you trust her?”

Claire sighs, and shakes her head. “No, I don’t. But I don’t have any other choice, Sherry needs a cure.”

It’s then that Y/N spares a glance to Sherry, heart aching at the pained expression, and the small whimpers of discomfort leaving her lips. It’s at that moment, Y/N realizes that despite the brutality of the world now, despite the reality of human experimentation, and all the death she’s seen, the least they can do is make sure that this little girl gets to live the life she deserves. 

Not long in the future, the three of them make it down to the lab to which the metal doors slide open to reveal the pathway inside. 

Y/N decides to raise her gun, poking her head out of the cable car just enough to see the area immediately in front of them. She glances over her shoulder to Claire, who is carefully lifting Sherry in her arms. “I’ll cover you while you carry Sherry into the lab.”

“Gotcha.” Claire replies, keeping close behind Y/N as they cautiously maneuver the near entirely metal tunnel which leads them down into an elevated platform that lowers onto another level. 

“I meant to ask, what happened to Leon?” Claire suddenly asks. 

Y/N takes a moment to gather her thoughts, a sudden tightness in her throat as she thinks back to the last time she saw him. “I was with him, making it to some of the labs above us, but we got separated and I’m trying to find him.”

“There are tons of tunnels down here, we’re bound to run into him at some point.” Claire tries to reassure, sensing Y/N’s inner turmoil. 

Y/N takes a deep breath, “I hope so.”

Within seconds, they enter another room with a bed to which Claire is quick to gently lay Sherry onto it. Y/N takes a glimpse around the office that doubled as a bedroom, seeing a laptop open and unlocked. 

She walks over to it. There’s an email inbox opened, and the words "antiviral agent” immediately stick out to her. “Claire, come take a look at this.” She beckons her over. 

Claire walks over, eyes following the line of words that Y/N found. Her face lights up the minute she’s what Y/N was looking at. “That’s got to be it!”

“Looks like it’s somewhere called, “NEST.” Wherever that is.” Y/N commented. 

“Well, they had the scientists inject themselves with it in case of emergencies, meaning it's probably close by.” Claire added as she went into thought. 

Sherry let out another whimper of discomfort, drawing the attention of the two women. 

There’s a pause and then Claire makes a b-line for the door. Y/N quickly follows, “Claire-” She goes to ask but Claire cuts her off. 

“Listen, I’m going to get that antiviral agent. I need you to stay with Sherry until I get back.”

“Claire, you can’t go by yourself.” Y/N objected adamantly. 

“And we can’t leave Sherry alone.” 

Y/N thinks for a moment, weighing the odds and decides that ultimately Claire is right so she begrudgingly nods. “You be careful out there okay?”

“I will.” With no more words exchanged, Claire left, leaving the care of that little girl to Y/N.

Ten minutes until detonation. 

“Do we know where we’re going?!” Y/N yelled over top the shrieks of the infected ahead of them and fired a shot. The bullet embeds itself into the creature’s head and it falls limp to the ground. 

“Nope!” Claire yelled back, raising her rifle and firing an electrical charge into another infected. It jerks from the contact then too falls limp.

The two women with Sherry in tow make in through a couple more doors before rushing into a room that switches from the single walkway behind them to a warehouse, holding a ginormous train car.

“Maybe we could use that!?” Sherry calls out as she points to the locomotive. 

“Worh a try!” Claire answers back to her. 

Y/N and Claire circle their own paths, clearing the room of any unwelcomed guests. They find none so they keep moving. Once they’re on the other side, they see a control room up against the wall of the cavern and b-line to it. 

They step inside, Claire immediately comes up to the panel as Y/N keeps an eye on Sherry. Claire inserts the joint plugs for the slot at the center of the console, then she reaches for the red lever and pulls it down. It makes a thud sound before the electrical wiring hums to life.

“Okay…Alright its working.” Claire mutters out, watching as the lights flash on. 

There’s a static tone coming from the monitor that connects to the control panel. It cuts in and out a few times before a voice breaks out, “Claire!”

Claire and Y/N exchange looks, wondering if the other heard it too. There’s a pause with a nod between them as they turn their attention to the monitor. 

“Leon?” Y/N stands over the screen, tilting her head down so her face is visible. Her heart practically beats out of her chest at the realization that Leon was alive and talking. There’s a sudden rush of adrenaline through her body, the urge to run out and find him but knowing it’d be almost impossible.

“Y/N! You’re okay!” Leon exclaims, relieved at the revelation that she made it to Claire. “You found Claire, is she okay?”

Claire leans over to show herself, a small smile playing at the corner of her lips, “I’m good.”

“What about you? Are you okay?” Y/N asks, desperate to make sure he wasn’t hurt. 

“I’m fine. But this whole place is coming down. You two have to get out of here. Fast.” Leon urges, moving closer to the screen as he looks up toward the ceiling. 

“We found a way out, a train car. It can get us out.” Y/N states, sharing a glance to Claire who nods in agreement. 

“Where are you now?” Claire asks. 

The picture on the monitors cuts out for a minute, Leon’s figure and voice briefly to show a static screen. 

“Leon? Leon, you’re breaking up. Can you hear me?” Y/N called out, heart thundering, and settling into a pit in her stomach. She hears the thunder of blood rushing to her ears, numbing her senses as she becomes frantic.

“List-” Leon’s voice cuts out, then fades back in. “Don’t worry about me! Just get outta here!”

“Leon? Leon!” Y/N pleads, throat clenching painfully as her eyes were beginning to brim with tears. “Damn it!” 

Her thoughts start to take her captive with all the worst possible outcomes, before she gets to dwell on them though, there’s another alarm that goes off, signaling how much time is left until this place is blown sky high. 

“We need to get out of here.” Y/N states.

“What about Leon?” Claire asks her, clearly apprehensive. 

Y/N closes her eyes to think, taking a deep breath to calm her growing fear. “Leon knows this place is about to blow, and he’s going to be making his own way out of here. We need to trust that he’s doing whatever he can to get out.”

Claire stares for a moment, then nods. “Right.” 

In no time, the pair escort Sherry inside the train car, insisting that she stays put no matter what before stepping back out on the platform that is slowly descending.

There’s a sudden thud, a deep rumbling growl following in sync; Claire and Y/N spare each other looks knowing right then that something knew where they were and were coming for them. A giant, malformed monster falls from the sky and lands on top of the train. 

Claire groans annoyed, lifting up a hand held machine gun and pointing at the creature. “Why can’t you just die?!”

She begins firing, rapid shots penetrating the monster's skin yet seemingly having no effect other than stunning it. 

“Friend of yours?!” Y/N yells over top of the gunfire. 

“Yeah, but he can’t seem to take the hint!” 

The creature jumps down, laying in front of them and he swings his disgusting, fleshy arm to kill the pair. Claire and Y/N jump and dodge out of the way on opposite sides of the tunnel. 

Claire is the one up first, continuing to shoot at the creature. Once, Y/N heaves herself up from the ground, she reaches onto her belt pulling out a grenade; she pulls the pin clutching the striker lever tightly in her hand keeping it from going off. 

“Claire! Back up!” She shouts. 

Claire realizes immediately what’s going on and she makes a mad dash away from that thing leaving Y/N the chance to throw the grenade right at the creature. It lands at its feet with a metallic clink, grabbing the attention of the huge monster and without warning explodes right under it. 

It bellows out a moan of pain, growls resounding throughout the chamber, the grotesque eyes embedded in its chest burst before finally it collapses. 

The two of them heave a sigh of relief, startled when the platform they are on comes to a stop. 

“Let’s go.” Claire suggests and she gets a wordless nod from Y/N. 

They hurry inside the train car where Sherry was waiting. “Claire! Y/N! You two are okay!” She admits, relieved. 

“Yeah, we’re okay.” Y/N reassures the young girl. 

“And we’re getting the hell outta here.” Claire states, walking past Sherry and Y/N to the control panel at the front.

The train cars connect to each other due to an automated system, signaling that it was ready for departure giving Claire the opportunity to put the train in gear. With a heavy shrieking, the train begins to move and pulls all the other cars behind it forward.

It isn’t long before the train picks up speed, and they are zooming through the tunnel. 

All three of the girls take a deep breath, the adrenaline slowly ebbing away to allow them a moment of peace.

Y/N plops down onto the floor, back pressed against the wall, head tilting back to look up at the ceiling of the train. In this moment of reprieve, her thoughts drifted to Leon; she wondered if he was okay, or injured, if he was making his way out, or if he even made it at all. Much to her dismay, her mind thought of the worst case scenario: that Leon died making his way out. 

The mere idea sends a jolt of grief straight into her chest, eyes following with the beginning of tears, her throat tightening in an aching pain that feels like she might not be able to breath. She tried to find a way back to him, stay by his side, but instead she left him in that awful place. 

She closed her eyes, and prayed to God that somehow, some way, he was alive.

Almost on cue, the sound of the side car door slid open and a figure stepped through. 

“Claire!” Leon’s voice echoed out, immediately setting his eyes on Claire first.

“Leon! It’s so good to see you.” Claire smiled. 

Leon smiled back, “I told you we’d make it, didn’t I?”

“You did.” 

“Leon?” Y/N whispers in awe as she comes to a stand. 

As soon as Leon’s eyes land on Y/N, his face morphs into an expression pulling all kinds of emotions to the forefront, ones that he had been trying to keep buried as he fought for his life; the most prominent one being guilt. 

“Y/N…” He utters, so quiet she barely hears it and without a second longer, they throw themselves into the other’s arms, holding tightly, breathing the other in, and soaking in the warmth of their half returning to them. 

“I thought I’d lost you.” Y/N cries into his shoulder. 

“But you didn’t, see?” Leon squeezes her closer to him, “I’m right here.”

Y/N can’t help the breathy laugh that weaves past her lips as she pulls back, getting a good look at his dirt covered face, admiring the baby blue hues of his eyes. She raises a hand to his cheek, cupping it in the palm of her hands and watches the second Leon allows himself to lean into her touch, his own hand coming to gently grasp at her wrist.

It’s in that moment of reprieve that Sherry speaks up, “Are you two like boyfriend and  girlfriend?”

The two turn to her, startled by the question, but Sherry’s timid expression melts their surprise.

“Yeah, yeah we are.” Y/N answers with a bashful smile. “Oh Leon, this is Sherry. Claire found her down here by herself.”

Leon gives her a little wave, “Hi.”

Sherry smiles back, “Hi.”

There’s a sudden crashing sound, hitting the train, nearly knocking all of them over. 

“What was that?” Claire asks. 

“I don’t know.” Leon answers promptly.

Claire then walks around Leon and Y/N, standing by the train car door that led to the next one. “Stay here with Sherry. I’m gonna go check it out.”

Y/N stepped forward, brows furrowed in worry. “Are you sure?”

She nodded. “We need to make sure nothing is trying to follow us out of this tunnel. I’ll only be a minute.”

Little did they know, she would not be back in a minute as she said. Only a few seconds later, the monster Claire and Y/N fought earlier, reasonably thinking it was dead, returned. It completely transformed itself into some revolting blob of flesh as it meshed into the back of the train. 

Gunfire rang out in the next car, signifying to Leon, Y/N and Sherry that something had gone wrong which was further accentuated by the entire roof of the car being ripped off, revealing to the three of them the monster was in fact alive. 

“Claire!” Y/N exclaimed, before the train rocked brutally forcing them to fall to the other side. 

“We’ve gotta lose that car!” Leon shouts, hastily pulling back the metal cover over the couplings keeping the carriage attached. 

The train juts again, Sherry stumbles almost out of the giant entry made by the creature if it weren’t for Y/N who grabs her arm, and pulls her into her; both of them falling back onto the floor. 

“I gotcha, Sherry!” Y/N assures the young girl, who wraps her arms around her midsection and tucks herself into Y/N’s side. 

In the meantime, Leon manages to detach the cars with a few good stomps to the mechanism holding it in place. 

Claire uses that few seconds of time to reach down for a metal pipe snapped in half and gouges it through the monster’s enormous, bulbous eye sending a spray of its discolored blood all over itself.

“Goodbye, fucker!” Claire screams, jousting the pipe further into its eye one more time. 

“Claire, give me your hand!” Leon yells to her to which she immediately turns and grabs onto him. He pulls her back on their side in one motion; the monster disappearing into the fireball heading through the tunnel before it’s completely engulfed by the raging flames, along with the rest of Umbrella.

Hopefully, that would be the last of them.

"You'll Be Back in No Time" - Leon Kennedy x reader (sfw)

Summary: Y/N pesters Leon to go on a weekend getaway before work gets too serious, he agrees, begrudgingly admitting that he was looking forward to it. Who wouldn’t want to spend an entire weekend with their loved one?

Pt. 1 "You Forgot This"

“Come on, Leon, please! It’ll be a short trip.” 

“I don’t know, what if something happens while I’m not here?” 

Currently, Y/N and Leon were sitting in his jeep finishing the remnants of their shared lunch. They sat in the parking lot of a fast food joint, jeep turned off but locked as they talked about this and that when Y/N brought up an idea she had. 

“Everything has been relatively mild, you even said so yourself the other day.” Y/N reasoned, taking a sip of her drink. 

Leon sighed, “Yeah and that’s when I should be worried the most because as soon as things get quiet, things get crazy.” 

Y/N rolled her eyes, but she couldn’t help to smile too. “Leon, it’s the weekend. Two days and you’ll be back in uniform.”

“You’re not going to let this go are you?” Leon asked, turning toward Y/N, her fast food drink cupped in her hands. 

“No.” She giggled, causing him to laugh as well. 

There was a pause as the two laughed off whatever silly atmosphere was surrounding, but once they settled down Y/N spoke again. 

“Look I won’t force you to go.” Y/N readjusts herself in the passenger seat, lifting up her legs into the seat to sit criss cross. “I know how important this job is to you, and you worked hard for it, I just think it’d be nice if we spent some time together. Just me and you before things get too hectic.”

Leon stares at her, biting his cheek to keep from smiling because whether she realizes it or not, she is most definitely batting her eyes at him and it’s that exact thing that makes it hard to say no.

He briefly leans his head back on the head rest to act as though he’s contemplating it, but he already decided at the beginning of this conversation that he would love to spend a weekend away and with only the two of them. 

“Okay, I’ll talk to the Lieutenant; see what the schedule looks like.”

“Thank you!” Y/N sits up from her seat, supporting her weight on one leg so she can kiss his cheek. The motion makes Leon smile all while his cheeks flares a brilliant red.

That was the last thing that they talked about before Leon drove Y/N back to her work, bidding her goodbye, and making sure that she made it inside the building (not before she turned to wave one more time) then he drove off back to the station. 

Once stepping through the heavy set doors, Leon made his way to the office area where his desk sat, black and gold placard resting at the corner of it. He pulled out the wooden chair from under it, and plopped down into it. As soon as he began to look through some paperwork, he was greeted by a couple of officers. 

“So how was lunch?” One asked. 

Leon looked up, startled by the sudden voice, “It was good, thank you for asking.”

The officer hummed, before another one spoke. “Did you see your girl?”

At that, Leon paused, eyes darting away to a different corner of the room and back as he realized what they were implying. “Excuse me?”

The officers laughed, one nudging the other's shoulder. “Oh come on, Cheryl told us who came to visit you the other day.”

“Oh yeah that! Well, I left my wallet and my girlfriend stopped by to give it back to me.” Leon quickly explained, suddenly feeling embarrassed that they knew about Y/N.

“Yeah?” The officers shared a knowing look, “And where did you leave it?”

Leon almost uttered out the words, “On her nightstand,” but his brain kicked into gear, warning him that was not a good idea. 

Did he spend the night at Y/N’s apartment? Yes. Did they sleep with each other? Yes, but it was innocent. Nothing happened. They had taken a step in their relationship, feeling safe enough to share a space with each other, allowing themselves to be vulnerable enough to simply sleep beside the other in a way that no one else had. 

Not that they needed to know that. 

So Leon didn’t respond, mouth opening and closing a few times as he tried to think of something to say that wouldn’t sound…promincious. Luckily, he was saved when Cheryl, the receptionist, walked in. 

“Leave the rookie alone, I think it’s sweet that she went out of her way to see him.” She came strutting over with the confidence of working around police officers for a long time, something Leon didn’t admit to himself he was a little jealous of. “Which is more than I can say for you two.”

“Oh come on, that’s low.” One pouted, giving no sign he was actually hurt. 

“You were the one who said they were canoodling out in the waiting room.” The other officer gestured to Cheryl.

Cheryl pointed back at the officer, “First of all, no one says canoodling anymore. Second, all they did was kiss. Once. So don’t misquote me, it’s a bad look for you.” 

Leon’s face was basically on fire as this conversation continued and he wasn’t even the one speaking. He felt the strong desire to find the nearest hole and curl into himself. 

The officer laughed, nudging Leon on the arm. “Don’t worry, Rookie. We’re just teasing, no harm no foul. We’ll see you later, Cheryl.”

A nervous laugh bubbled in Leon’s throat as he watched the officers walk off and out the door. 

“You’ll have to get used to that, rookie and the sooner, the better.” Cheryl advised, crossing her arms over her chest. 

“Oh I know, guess I’m not there yet.” He admitted, hand anxiously wiping his sweat off and onto his uniform pants. 

Cheryl looked down at him with a smirk, “No, definitely not, but give it time. You’ll get there.” 

Leon nodded, “Thank you.” 

“And hey?”

“Yes?”

“You take care of that girl of yours, alright?” 

There was a sudden shift in his demeanor; the anxiety flooding away leaving behind his resolve, sitting deep in his stomach and racing to his chest. “I will, ma’am.”

The weekend came a lot sooner than Leon expected, focusing all his time on paperwork with a few patrols sprinkled in for good measure. He wanted to do more, expressing this to Lieutenant Branagh, since he had approved his time off, but the Lieutenant told him there was nothing to get worked up about. He would be gone for the weekend and would be right back at his desk. 

Leon wanted to argue, however conceded, remembering Y/N mirroring nearly the exact same words to him at the top of the week. 

Friday night, after his shift, he headed to Y/N’s apartment; a duffle bag tossed into his passenger seat ready to leave in the morning. He packed a little more than really necessary, wanting to be prepared for whatever may happen even if he didn’t need it. 

He thought it was better to have something and not need it, than to need it and not have it. 

When he got to Y/N’s, they had dinner. A homemade meal Y/N made, talking about where they were going and what they would be doing once they got there. Turns out, Y/N had planned their little weekend getaway to a place on the outskirts of Raccoon city, a sort of small town resort for those who didn’t want to deal with the hustle and bustle of the big city. 

They’d be staying at a hotel, surrounded by quaint gift shops, restaurants, and even a museum showing off the history of the town’s origins and Raccoon city as a whole. Exactly what they needed. 

By the next day, two hours later they arrived at their destination. They passed a big sign that read, “Welcome to Rosewater!” the so-called resort as it were. With Leon in the driver’s seat of his jeep, Y/N took the opportunity to take a good look around at every building they passed. Each building was designated to its own category from ice cream to clothing stores, all stacked right next to one another. 

The sidewalks were lined with all kinds of trees, bushes, flower beds, you name it, they had it. It added a certain thriving atmosphere to the place and right  next to those plants were tables, chairs, and benches just so that people could hang out to talk or simply enjoy the environment outside. 

“It’s pretty here.” Y/N said gleefully, still looking out the window. 

“Yeah, you picked a good spot.” Leon lightly praised, his eyes flickering briefly over to her before returning to the road. 

Y/N finally looked at Leon, jokingly bowed her head and hand in a half courtesy. “Why thank you, good sir.”

They shared a laugh as they drove further into the town. They passed a few more blocks when Y/N spoke up again, “The hotel should be a little further down, on the right. The parking lot should be the first thing we see.”

Leon silently nods, driving past a green traffic light and turning right after Y/N pointed to it. Just like she said, the parking was the first thing he set his eyes on before lifting upward toward the four story hotel building. The outside matched the rustic aesthetics of the rest of the resort, its dark, orange bricks and white columns making it seem rather cozy. 

He quickly pulled into a space as close to the building as he could get, then the pair unloaded their bags, and headed inside. 

The inside matched much of the exterior design with stained oak wood complementing the white painted walls. 

There was a large wooden desk at the center of the entry way, a young lady, about their age, standing behind it. She noticed Y/N and Leon as soon as they stepped through the door. 

“Can I help you two?” She asked politely and with a smile. 

Y/N was first to walk up to the counter, flashing a polite smile of her own. “Yes, please. I have a reservation.”

The lady, Susan it said on the name tag, perked up. “Of course! What name is the reservation under?” 

“L/N. Y/N L/N.” Y/N answered, watching as Susan began typing away at her company computer. 

Susan typed away at her keyboard, eyes skimming over information popping up on her screen. “L/N, the one bedroom, one bath, overlooking the pool?”

“Yes, Miss.” 

The lady nodded, typing a few more things before turning around to the wall of room keys behind her and grabbing one off the rack. “You are on the third floor, room 304.”

Y/N takes the key gently from her hands, “Thank you so much.” 

“Yes, thank you.” Leon mirrors her. 

Susan nods, “You’re welcome! Please enjoy your stay.” 

The couple give a nod back to her then make their way to the nearby elevator, stepping inside the moment the doors opened. 

As the elevator mechanism lifts up towards the third floor, Leon eyes Y/N who is fidgeting in place, swinging her arms slightly back and forth, her attention focused on the digital plate above them that shows which floor they are passing. 

“Are you excited?” He asks, a smirk playing on his lips. 

Without missing a beat, she giggles, anticipation settling in her gut. “A little! I just want to know what the room looks like in person.”

Leon laughed quietly to himself, readjusting his duffle in his grip as the elevator chimed once they were on the third floor. They stepped off the elevator, into the hallway and made their way down a hallway (after looking at a sign with the room numbers listed). 

Y/N practically skipped down the hall as she approached their room, quickly sticking the key through the lock to turn it. Once the door was unlocked, she opened the door, leaving the door open for Leon as he followed her inside. 

“Oh, there’s a balcony!” Y/N chirped, jogging to the sliding glass door that led to said balcony and walked out onto it.

Inside the room, Leon dropped his bag beside the queen size bed draped with a deep red and green palette, extravagant details sewn into the blanket, and crisp white pillows to contrast it. On each side of the bed was a nightstand paired with its own lamp, as well as a tall lamp meant to add more lighting to the room itself. 

Off to the side, next to the balcony door there was a dark, glossy wooden table near the corner as well as two chairs with cushions pushed neatly under the table top to give the room more space. 

All in all, it was cozy.

“Come out here Leon and look at this.” Y/N urged from outside. 

Leon did as asked, and walked out onto the balcony with Y/N, choosing to stand right beside her. Then Y/N pointed over the railing and to the left, “Look, you can see all the stores from here, and all the seating areas. Isn’t it nice?”

“Yeah it definitely is.” He agreed, eyes moving from the stores to where the pool was, a few stories down. “Can’t imagine we’re gonna be doing much swimming though.”

Y/N chuckled at his comment, “In September? Probably not.”

“Good thing, I didn’t bring a swimsuit.” Leon admitted, shifting himself to face Y/N right as she pivoted to do the same. 

She leaned up and pecked his lips, “Well great minds think alike because I didn’t either.”

He smiled, stepping forward to wrap his arms around her waist and pull her to him. Y/N happily allowed him to, pressing her body into his chest while lifting up her arms to rest them around his shoulders. For a moment, they stayed like this, basking in the warmth of the other; breathing in their presence and letting it seep into every inch of their being. 

Leon tilted his head back, though not going too far, to gaze down at her face. “You want to take a look around, see what all is here?”

“Yeah.” Y/N beamed, her hands falling down his arm to eventually take his hand and lead him out of the hotel room. 

The day was still early, barely reaching noon which gave Y/N and Leon plenty of places to visit while there was still daylight. The first place they visited being a bookstore, much to Y/N’s insistence. She was an avid reader, reading whenever she could and while Leon wasn’t as much as she was, he didn’t mind looking through all that they had. 

He did find a couple of baseball magazines that caught his interest. 

Once done pursuing every aisle of books, they moved onto an antique shop a building over. It contained all sorts of items from different decades; furniture, jewelry, glassware, etc. Each little piece listed with a simple cut out paper with the year of which it came from, although Leon pointed out one set of furniture that looked a bit too new to be from the date listed. Upon closer inspection, Y/N agreed. 

For the next couple of hours, Y/N and Leon bounced from place to place, glancing over store items, posters, decorations, and the like. There were so many moments to admire, excitement in exploration, connection in togetherness, and intimacy in love. 

Eventually, it began to get dark, the sun a bright orange as it descended over the horizon signaling to the pair that it was time to retire to their room for the night. 

“I can’t believe you hit bullseye on every target.” Leon admitted, following Y/N inside their room. 

Y/N laughed, holding two animal plushies in her arms. “I told you, my uncle taught me how to shoot when I was fifteen, and I’ve kept up with it.” 

Leon smirked, “Maybe you should’ve been a cop.”

“No,” Y/N hummed, dropping her plushies onto the bed. “I don’t have the grit for that.”

“It’s not about grit.” Leon countered.

Y/N steps over to him, only mere inches apart, her hands coming up to press against his chest and slide them up. “You only say that because you are one.”

“Pfft. What difference does that make?” Leon scoffs. 

She tugs at the hair at the of his neck, watching him contain a sharp breath. “It makes you biased.” 

At that, Leon lifts a hand and pokes her side, causing her to squeal and jump back. “Remember I know you’re ticklish.”

“Right, I’m sorry, officer. I won’t do it again.” She giggles, keeping her distance in case he decides to tickle her some more and she can tell by the twinkle in his eyes that he’s considering it. Instead, he quietly chuckles to himself then moves over towards where the table is, taking off his jacket with ease and laying it on one of the chairs. 

“I’m going to take a shower, unless you need it first.” Leon says, turning to Y/N expectantly. 

She quickly shakes her head, “No, go ahead. I’m just gonna change into my pjs, and get cozy.”

He nods, adding nothing else to the conversation before he heads to the shower. Later, the humid air after a shower lingers in the bathroom, fogging the mirrors, filtering out a fresh soapy smell from Leon’s shampoo, they lay next to each other, on their sides with nothing but the nightstand lamp to light the smallest corner of the room. 

Fingers tangle together in soft movements, Leon runs the palm of his hand back and forth against Y/N’s skin in repetitive motions like his body was memorized by her warmth, the sound of skin moving up and down, the sensation sparked whenever they touched. He was memorized by her being here right in front of him, lying with him. Pupils dilate as their eyes stay connected, staring back, trying to seek their soul, and hold it there. 

Leon, during his teenage years, wondered more often than he’d like to admit what it would feel like once he found someone special, someone that completed him and finally he knew the answer. 

Y/N moves her free hand towards his jaw, gently caresses the skin there then moving lower to his neck, gaze darting to stare at the space there. “Did you know you have moles here?”

She lightly traces an area towards a spot at the back of his neck almost out of sight as she asks. 

“I did.” 

“But do you know how many?” 

He smiles, soft and endearing. “I never thought to count them.”

She moves her fingers again, slowly, paying special attention to count them. “One, two..” 

Her finger moves forward, stilling at the place right under his jaw. “Three, four…” 

Finally, her finger moves over his adams apple, keeping her touch light, and biting her lip when she feels Leon swallow hard against her touch. “Five, six, and seven.” She lingers there for a second longer than necessary before smoothing over his collar bone down to his chest. Y/n can feel his heart thundering beneath her hand, but she doesn’t mention it. 

“Thank you…for counting them for me.” Leon utters out playfully, sounding breathless as he does. 

She shuffles forward, tucking herself into him fully. “You’re welcome.” 

Like a dance they’ve done a million times, Leon wraps an arm around the small of her back, pulling her against even closer and pressing a soft kiss to her hair as they get comfortable, the weight of sleep heavy on them which they are powerless to resist.

There’s a distant ringing that gets louder the more Leon is disturbed from the deep sleep he was happily in. For a moment, his brain convinces him it’s just a dream until Y/N croaks out a groggy.

“Leon, your phone…”

With a groan, Leon reaches for the nightstand; hand fumbling in the dark until he feels the cold plastic of his phone. He flips it open and brings it to his ear. “This is Leon.”

At first there’s shuffling on the other end, the sound of growling? Leon isn’t sure, but the pause with no human voice, makes him sit up. “Hello, is anyone there?”

“Whatever you do rookie, stay away from Raccoon City!” A voice finally yells out, though it sounds as though it were a struggle to say. 

Something is happening in the background now, there are multiple voices overlapping each other but Leon can’t tell what they're saying. What he does know is that this is serious because he recognizes that voice. 

“Lieutenant Branagh? What’s going on?” Leon fully sits up, forcing Y/N to slide off of him and prop herself up, sleep still heavy in her eyes. 

Suddenly, shots ring out beyond the line forcing Leon’s heart to his throat. “What’s happening?!” 

Y/N is fully awake now, staring up at Leon with a fear fueled expression. He spares her a glance as if she might have answers to what is going on even knowing that it would be impossible. 

“Just stay as far away as you can, rookie! Stay alive!” Branah yells over the phone before it cuts out, leaving the dial tone to echo in Leon’s mind.

He jerks the phone away from his ear, staring at the glowing screen and saying the dreaded call ended, pop up. For a moment, he doesn’t know what to do, staring into the pitch dark, mind desperately shaking off exhaustion transitioning to adrenaline. 

“Leon, who was that?” Y/N asks, worry palpable in her voice. 

Leon whips his head to her, “The Lieutenant.” 

He jumps up from the bed, almost tripping on his own feet as he searches for the lamp. He switches it on casting the room in a yellowy glow, then looks around for something else. 

“Why? What’s going on?”

“I don’t know.” Leon mumbles, so quiet she almost doesn't hear it. Then his eyes land on what he was looking for, the tv remote.

He wastes no time, turning on the tv, hearing the static once it's alive, and starts flipping through channels. It takes him less than a second to find the local new channel and what he sees sends his mind spiraling. 

In bold letters, the headline reads: Sudden Outbreak Inside Raccoon City.

Y/N crawls out from under the comforter to the end of the bed, sitting on her knees as she is seeing what Leon is seeing. 

Masses of people are attacking each other, brutally, cruelly, blood splattered onto the streets, and those who have already been lost lay motionless on the ground.

There’s a news woman relaying information as their station reports the incident live on tv, from a helicopter. “All citizens are advised to head immediately to the Raccoon City Police Department, where there is food, water, and shelter while authorities handle the situation. We will keep you updated as the situation changes.”

“Oh my god.” Y/N whispers, hands coming up to cup over her face, not fully believing what she's seeing. 

Leon stands frozen, his vision narrowing in on the tv, reading and rereading the words over and over again, still not understanding.

It’s almost 12:30 in the afternoon, the perfect time for Y/N to head over to the Racoon City police station to return something one of the officers forgot at her apartment. 

Leon S Kennedy; blonde hair, blue eyed boyishly handsome officer which she had the fortune of calling him her boyfriend and it had been that way for about five months now. Though their relationship was still new in a lot of ways, it felt right. 

He was kind, considerate, awkward, shy, but the way in which he carried himself made her feel safe, protected and with the latest news about a possible new infection spreading over several cities, that’s what she found most important. 

That was exactly why she had no qualms about heading to the police station during her limited lunch break to return his wallet to him. Luckily, her own workplace wasn’t far so she just walked her way to the station, immediately knowing she was there once she spotted the giant R.P.D letters hanging over the big set doors of the place. 

She walked up the stone steps, using a bit more strength than she’d like to admit to open the right side door, revealing the area beyond it. 

Once inside, Y/N took a moment to admire the rather domineering but beautifully rustic interior, her eyes landing on the statue that stood tall above everyone. She had never actually been inside the R.P.D until now, and she wished she had sooner because even though it was a police station, it looked more like a museum. 

“Whoa…” She whispered to herself, her pace slowing to almost nothing. However when her gaze came down to meet with the receptionist, who had been looking at her for who knows how long, she snapped out of her daze and awkwardly jogged over to the desk. 

“How can I help you, Miss?” 

Y/N leaned a little closer so the receptionist could hear her as she had a habit of talking quietly. “I’m looking for Leon Kennedy, is he here?

“What is this regarding?” 

Y/N paused, thinking about what to say. She didn’t want to say, Hey, I’m here to see my boyfriend and so she settled on the first thing that came to mind. “It’s for a…personal matter.”

The receptionist paused, a slight smirk pulling at the corner of her lips. Given that look, she most likely already knew that there was more to it than that but if she thought she kept it to herself as she picked up her office phone and dialed a number. 

“Hey, there’s a woman here by the name of…” The receptionist paused, pulling the phone away from her mouth to look up at Y/N. “What’s your name, sweetie?”

“Oh, Y/N L/N.” She quickly answered. 

“There’s a Y/N L/N here, looking for Officer Leon Kennedy, can you send him to the front?”

There’s a brief pause as another voice speaks from the other line, but Y/N can’t hear what they are saying. 

“Okay, thank you.” The woman says then hangs up. “He’ll be out in a few minutes, honey, so you’re more than welcome to wait right over there.” She points to a bench off to the side, pushed up against the wall. 

Y/N nods. “Okay, thank you so much!” She walks over to the public bench, and takes a seat. 

She sits up straight, keeping a perfect yet stiff posture; legs pressed tight against each other, and hands fiddling in her lap as she waits. Y/N had always been a bit awkward, and even though she had every right to return something of Leon’s, there was this small voice in the back of her mind that tried to convince her she shouldn’t be there. 

Before she could agonize over it, she heard the distant sound of a door opening and footsteps coming closer. 

“Y/N?” 

Her head whipped up from her lap, seeing Leon walking over to her. She smiled brightly, coming to a stand. “Leon!” 

He jogged the rest of the way over, a smile mirroring Y/N’s the moment he stood in front of her. “What are you doing here?”

Y/N dug through her purse, pulling out his wallet to hold it out to him and watched a sign of recognition fall over his face. “You forgot this on my nightstand.”

“I knew I forgot something this morning.” He takes the wallet from her hands, and tucks it into his back pocket. 

“I think you might have been distracted this morning; you’re not normally so forgetful.” Y/N teased, lightly nudging his side. 

He laughs, his cheeks flaring with heat as he looks down at the floor. “Well, when you wake up next to the most beautiful woman in the world, it’s hard not to get distracted.” 

The words sound like a joke, but Y/N knows that he means it. 

She feels her own face burst with warmth, but she giggles at his comment which causes him to laugh with her. Everything feels incredibly awkward, incredibly embarrassing, and incredibly in love.

“Well, I won’t take up anymore of your time, Officer Kennedy.” Y/N winked at him.

Leon reached up to rub the back of his neck, a bashful tick that came up quite often. “I’m still trying to get used to being called that, especially by you.”

Y/N steps forward, opening her arms out to which he reciprocates and hugs him, pressing herself as close to him as she can while relishing the sensation of his warmth. “I’ll try not to use it too much.”

Leon wraps his arms around her back, and tucks his face into her shoulder. “Sure you won’t.”

She chuckles once more, going quiet as she allows this moment to completely seep into her memory, savoring what her heart does when she has Leon so close, to touch, to hold, to laugh with. 

God, she loves him. 

They finally pull away, but not too far as they keep each other in their embrace, gaze shifting from their eyes to the lips before trickling back up. 

Leon watches the playful shine in Y/N’s eyes morph to something more serious, something that makes his heart ache. 

“You be careful out there, okay?”

He nods. “I will.” He leans down, eyes narrowing, dilated, focused on what he wants, who he wants. Right before he reaches that point of no never, he hesitates, giving her the space to pull away if she wants, but she doesn’t, she never does.

Y/N fills the remainder of that space, lips pushing, melding into his, fitting together perfectly in a way that life scarce does or ever will. It’s warm, safe, secure, conveying all that words would fail to do leaving the message to travel only through their bodies. 

I love you.

As soon as they break apart, there’s a moment of heaving, breathing in and out like they had taken the air straight from their lungs to give it to the other because the most beautiful gift they could offer was everything they were and would ever be.

 Leon rests his head against Y/N’s, closing his eyes for a second to appreciate the tingling of her skin touching his. 

“I promise I’ll be careful.” He whispers to her. 

She smiles, softer this time. “You better.”

Then she takes a deep breath, sighing while she brings her hands from around his neck to shoulders and finally down his arms. “I should get going, my break is probably almost over.”

Leon sucks in a breath, realizing he hadn’t been breathing for a minute. “Right. Yeah, I don’t want you skipping you lunch.”

His thoughtful concern flutters in her chest. “I won’t. Are you coming over again tonight?”

He grabs her hands, thumbing brushing over her knuckles as he thinks. “I’d like to, if that’s okay.”

“It’s more than okay.”

“Then I guess I’ll see you tonight.” 

They stand there a couple more seconds, Leon caressing her hands as she slowly begins to step back, taking one hand out of his; letting her touch linger on him before stepping away completely and towards the door. 

Leon’s hand stays aloft in the air, lingering in where Y/N had previously been. He then looked down at his palm, still feeling the warmth of her here almost as though she left a part of her with him to carry.

He looks up at the door once more, clutching his hand to a close and bringing it to his chest, making sure that the last thing that Y/N had touched was closest to his heart.

What About This One - Leon Kennedy x reader (sfw)

Summary: Late mornings, and a day off are the perfect time to admire the person next to you.

a/n: not proofread. Based on the shoulder injury Leon gets in Resident Evil 2 (remake). This could work with any version of Leon btw.

The morning was soft, gentle cascading through the window blinds and making the skin of the couple laying in bed glow with warmth. 

One slept soundly while the other barely ran the tip of her finger along her partner's exposed bicep. Her eyes followed the muscle lines, watching the goosebumps rise on his skin, an endearing smile playing at her lips. 

“That tickles…” a mumbled voice said into his pillow.

Y/N laughed, “I thought you were asleep.” 

Leon opened one eye, revealing the blue underneath, peering over at her. “I was. You woke me up.” 

She leaned closer, hand coming up to rest on his shoulder. “Well I’m sorry that I wanted to admire you.”

He instinctually brought his arm to wrap loosely around her waist as she got closer. “Admire? What exactly are you admiring?” 

“I was admiring this,” Y/N smiled, hand squeezing his waist watching as he smirked at that idea. “And these awfully big arms of yours.” 

She gave a playful squeeze on his biceps and shoulder, stopping where she saw an old scar from years ago. Leon’s eyes followed her hands, smirk falling a bit as she stopped, he knew what she was looking at. Y/N’s smile fell into one of stillness, neither sad nor happy, perhaps endearing as she thought about how he got this particular scar. Her sweet boyfriend doing whatever he could to protect someone.

“What about this one?” She quietly asked, the fog of just having woken up confusing him. 

He muttered out a sound, prompting her to explain what she meant. 

Her index finger traced over the round shaped scar, as she spoke. “You’ve told me about how you got some of your other scars; tell me about this one.”

Leon’s thumb begins to stroke softly against the skin of her back, where her shirt had ridden up. “This one was uh…” He sighed, mind returning to that moment as if it had been yesterday. “It was back on my first day as a police officer, when the whole outbreak happened.”

He pauses, watching as Y/N’s eyes lift from his scar to stare up at him. She doesn’t say anything, however, giving him plenty of time to either finish his thought or stop it right there.

Though the memories feel fresh, he continues, “Ada and I were in the sewers. We came across a doctor there who was in possession of some rather…well say, “nasty bacteria.” She didn’t seem happy to have a supposed FBI agent and an officer after her so she shot at us.”

Leon raises the hand that was placed on Y/N’s waist, trailing it up the sensitive skin of her arm until he softly grasps her wrist, and pulls her palm to lay flat on his chest, right over his steadily beating heart. “Ada was in the direct line of fire so without thinking, I dove in front of her and got shot in the shoulder.” 

Y/N stays silent, letting him breath in the quiet as he opens his mouth to continue. 

“I told her to go after the doctor before she got away then I passed out. Next thing I knew, I woke up with my shoulder patched up and Ada’s coat over me.” He removes his hand from Y/N’s to let her fingers, once again, wander across his skin, battered and scarred from his work as a DSO agent. 

He watches her eyes study the long-healed bullet wound on his shoulder, her finger tracing a circle around the shape before lightly grazing the scar itself. The sensation caused the slightest shiver to run through him causing him to tense and pull her closer. 

“She saved my life, more than once.” He whispers in the small space between their bodies. 

Y/N finally looks up at him, the sun casting a glow to her face that made him suck in a sharp breath almost like it was the first time he was seeing her. She then leans up to place a soft kiss right over the scar, pulling back to lay back in her spot. 

“I’m glad she did.”

Leon smiled at that, raising his hand to cradle her cheek. “I’m glad she did too, otherwise I wouldn’t have met you.”

That made Y/N giggle, face beaming with complete, unadulterated devotion for the man in front of her. The man who has risked life and limb to protect others, to make sure that they got to go home at the end of the day, and she knew she was blessed that she got to be a home for him every time that he came back from a mission. 

Nothing compared to the sensation of Leon’s tense muscles relaxing under her touch as he pushed himself as close to her as humanly possible. 

She leaned forward, pressing her lips into his, moving slowly; savoring the delicious warmth that radiated from him.

It was quick, but filled with everything that words failed to convey.

“Are you hungry?” She asked once pulling back, hand tracing invisible patterns into his arm. “I can make waffles if you want.”

Leon let out an airy laugh, shaking his head. “Not yet. I just…want to lay here with you a little longer.”

“That’s fine with me.” She pecked his cheek, tucking her face into his neck while he completely encircled her in his arms. 

It wasn’t too long that the pair once again fell asleep. For the moment, there was nowhere to be, nothing to worry about, it was only the peace of domesticity. A once distant yearning becoming something real over the years.

Leon never thought that he would live very long in his line of work, let alone meet someone who filled the emptiness in him and he was grateful for it everyday.

a/n: I finished Resident Evil 1-4 (remakes mostly) and I am really liking the games so far. I especially enjoyed Resident Evil 2 and 4, they are my top favorites. Right now I am watching Resident Evil: Revelations. Let me know which ones are your favorite.

The man had Leon by the throat, fingers squeezing tight, forcing the man down on his knees as he struggled to breathe.

Leon tried desperately to snap the man’s hand away from his neck, but to no avail. After hours of running, firefights, and combat, he was nearly completely spent. His blue eyes flicked up to the man, seeing his beading, empty eyes staring down at him as he strangled the life out of him. 

A split second thought crossed his mind, with his guns empty, his knife thrown God knows where, he was truly going to die. 

However, a voice cut through the life or death moment causing the man’s grip to still. 

“Let him go.” Y/N demanded, and the handgun aimed steadily at the man’s head. 

The man simply laughed, throwing his head back at his own amusement . Y/N took a couple of cautious but confident steps forward, “Let him go!” 

A smirk was all the man gave as he proceeded to speak. “And if I don’t? What will you do?”

She grimaced, advocating the anger boiling under her skin. “Then I’ll bury you where you fucking stand!”

There was a brief pause, the man’s smirk stilling on his face then slowly falling when he recognized the sincerity in her eyes. “You don’t have the nerve.”

Y/N takes another step forward, leaving the gun only inches from his head. “Try me.”

Leon, struggling a little less, watches the contoured anger on Y/N’s face, memorising her, and remembering why he fell in love with her in the first place.

a/n: I recently saw that Resident Evil 9 came out and I was actually very impressed with the way the story went. I've never followed the Resident Evil games, but seeing the recent one, I am going to be through all the games to get the full picture. But I was so excited to write for Leon I just had to put this out there.
