Lara's favorite color is blue.

There are a lot of blue pieces in her wardrobe. Have you noticed that? Her leotard in TR1-TR3 (in-game, not renders), bathrobe, nevada pants, denim fit, even her TR1 gym outfit and black dress in TR5 have a subtle blue tinge.

I didn't mention her diving suits because they technically aren't hers but borrowed, but we could say there were other colors to pick from and she picked the blue one. (Or Core wanted to keep the theme consistent.)

She just thinks it's a lovely color and could look at it all day.

Although it's likely Kurtis knows Lara's name because of it appearing in French TV/Newspapers, I like to think that he already knew who she was before that (she IS a celebrity). He read her books, saw interviews and was even a bit starstruck when he saw her (who wouldn't be, just look at her).

I can imagine him sitting there, listening with a mix of bafflement and admiration as she talks about breaking into area 51 like she went for a lovely afternoon picnic.
