Remus didn’t say anything when Sirius first entered. He was in boxers, after all, Amelia was a lot more exposed. His first instinct was to shield her. “Sirius, uh- hi.” He said eventually. “I- I’m sorry. We just got carried away “You don’t have to leave, Padfoot. I’m sorry.” Remus put a hand on Amelia’s am as she spoke. “Wait.” Remus he said to his girlfriend, not taking his eyes off of the bra “Don’t go.” He turned to her, feeling her kick him under the covers. He shot her a look that said what do you want me to do?

Sirius saw the girl’s bra on his bed and pretty much chucked it at them. He took out a cigarette, the only release he could get at such a time as this. “Bunch of love birds yeah?” he let out an uncomfortable chuckle, turning around to light his cigarette. “i’m giving you time to get decent.” he said from his stance, turned away from them. Sirius’ blood was boiling and he was as angry as ever. Knowing him, he was not going to be able to keep it contained for very long. “What a great day it is yeah?” he said, trying to keep up his overly fake smile and cheery voice.

Faye sat down and hauled out her potions book, ready to write the essay that was due the end of that week. “Ah shit,” she muttered. “You haven’t got an extra quill, have you? I forgot mine.”

‘I’ve got one. Just don’t steal it. ‘One of my biggest pet peeves.” he chuckled, reaching into his bag for the only other quill he owned.

“This school is always the worst time for my motivation.” Anyone that knew Fabian knew that he wasn’t the most focused of students. He was probably the polar opposite of anyone that ever belonged in Ravenclaw. 

“Time away from what? And since when have you been calling me playboy? Although I do feel like I been kissing a lot of girls lately, so maybe that name is fitting for now. But you can keep that on the hush-hush side, cousin.”

“Well I was told if I didn’t atleast do my assignments for the rest of the year I could get held back or kicked out.” he looked around and pulled out a cigarette, lighting it with his wand. “You don’t mind do you? I need these when i’m overly stressed.”

“You know exactly why, red.” he smirked, inhaling. “I’ve seen you kissing some girl atleast twice this week.” he chuckled.

“The wrong idea? Is still caring about your little brother something that gives the wrong idea?” Regulus frowned, averting eye contact for a brief moment before speaking again. “Lucius isn’t my friend… not really anyways. I don’t have friends like you do.”

“I’m talking about for your safety you dingus. -Sorry.” he sighed, running his hands in his hair to find the words to say. “If they see us being friendly you’re going to get in trouble and I don’t want you getting into any more of it.”

“Oh Sirius, that’s awful. I’m not half bad with transfiguration, maybe I can give you a hand? Are you working on those questions McGonagall assigned us yesterday?” Alice asked and leaned across the table to have a look. “I can definitely, absolutely help you with herbology too, by the way, if you’re having any trouble with that one.”

“Oh I mean- I’m great at it. It’s honestly my best subject. I just don’t actually do homework or anything so I have to get my arse in shape.” he chuckled which turned into a groan before turning back to his work. ‘Herbology on the other hand, I might need help with.”

Nelson blinked seriously at Sirius. “I seek to pleasure a certain female and my observations have led me to believe that you may be able to assist me in setting up some sort of gesture to show my love.”

“Oh... you’re serious? I mean i’m Sirius but you’re Serious.” he motioned back and forth before rubbing his hand over his face in an exasperated motion. “Yeah- I mean I’m definitely okay with helping. Who is she?”

“Wow Sirius, I’m really proud of you now how long until you get distracted? Because that sounds more believable,” James was joking and the smile showed just that. He was genuinely proud of Sirius and was happy to see him have motivation.

“Oi you shit head don’t ruin it for me!” Sirius playfully shoved his friend, laughing as if he was a barking dog. “Honestly i’m already distracted mate.”

“Pst. Pst. Pst. Sirius!” Nelson called in a not-so-quiet whisper standing a few feet from the Gryffindor. “I need a favor from you and was wondering if you would be so kindly to assist me in my quest.”

“Quest? Of course sir Nelson, what do you need from me, Sirius the Black?” he snickered at his joke, thinking of the muggle books of Lord of the Rings he had just come across.

“Excellent,” Alice said and looked down to her herbology textbook. After a minute she looked up again, completely forgetting the promise she’d made. “What are you working on so furiously?”

“Uh- just some transfiguration I guess. To be honest- I was threatened to being held back a year if I didn’t start doing more work.” he shrugged, dipping his feather quill into the ink next to him.

“Oh uh-sure.” he shrugged, motioning to the open seat across from him.

“So you’re saying that you’re motivated by having nothing to do? You must really be bored to death. Has the mischievous Sirius seriously have nothing planned up his sleeves? What have you even been up to? I feel like I haven’t seen you wandering around that often, if we didn’t share the same dormitory I would have assumed you dropped out of school.”

“It’s slow. Winter is always the worst time for my motivation.” Sirius laughed, looking at his cousin. “I’ve been out- trying to get alone time. I just... needed time away I guess.” he wasn’t going to admit that it was due to Amelia and Remus. “What have you been up to, playboy?” Sirius laughed, clapping the ginger haired boy’s back.

Remus’ made a soft noise in the back of his throat, rolling them both over to that he was on top of Amelia, giving him the perfect leverage to kick off his trousers. He kissed her deeply, hands roaming, breath coming in quick gasps, but jumped when he heard the door to the dorm opening. Part of him thinking not now, it was just getting good, the other part scrambling to protect his girlfriend’s modesty.

Sirius yawned loudly, walking into the dormitory. He threw his book bag on his bed, going to lay down and kick his shoes off. He was too tired to even notice the couple on the bed- until he heard noise and looked over. “Oh Fuck!” he scrambled back, on the furthest point of his bed, away from the couple. He felt his insides suddenly fall apart and he tried to hide his disappointment. He had planned on spending his night laying on his bed and drinking firewhiskey- forgetting this pair even existed. His plans were of course ruined by the very people he was trying to ignore. “I’m gonna go, sorry.” he sighed, rubbing his eyes as he walked towards the door without shoes.

“The wayward Black doing homework? Now there’s a sight I didn’t expect.” Not one to actually take a hint and needing to get his own work done, Nik moved to take the seat opposite the boy. “Need some help?” He offered, his hand reaching up to grasp the book laid out in-between them. “We all know certain words tend to trip you up so I’d be happy to sound them out for you. Like this one here.” He pointed to a random spot in the book, lifting it enough for Sirius to see too were he so inclined to actually look up. “The.” Slowly enunciating the word so he’d understand, he continued, pointing to anther one near it. “That one’s ‘and’.”

“Right? I didn’t even think I could understand simple English.” he rolled his eyes, not even looking up from his quill and parchment. “You know what, I found a couple of words here I think I can read.” he took the book from the other boy. “Shut... oh- The... Fuck... Up.” he grinned, looking at the boy. “Honestly, I think i’ve gotten the hang of this really fast!”

“You have changed, Sirius. At least to me it seems like you have…” His voice grew quiet as he continued to speak, averting eye contact. “I never referred to them nicely, but I have no where to go. I don’t have a choice but to stay, I don’t have friends like you do. I would be alone. They would K I L L me.”

“I’ve changed because I don’t want people getting the wrong idea.” he started to say, looking around. “Sure you have friends- you have that fucking prick Lucius don’t you? He’ll definitely look after you after he’s kissed everyone else’s arse.”

Remus reached out and placed a hand on his friend’s arm. He knew how badly thoughts of home affected Sirius. He wished, more than anything, that he could take all of that pain away. “I’m sorry.” He said quietly. “Do you want to talk about it?”

“No, it’s fine.” he whispered, taking another long drag from his cigarette. Sirius leaned slightly against his friend, exhaling smoke away from the other’s face. “thanks though, I really appreciate it.”
