So, today is Sunday. Normally a day of rest, but this week has been a week of rest imposed upon us as well as most of the nation and world due to the Coronavirus crisis. The next week is going to be tough here, as the viral cases ramp up here in NYC. So it’s an eerie calm before the impending storm. So I set out to take a picture of something to share, to provide a few moments of escape for myself, as well as anyone that might like my pictures. This bridge is one of my favorite subjects, and this view is just down the road from me in the wonderful Isle of Staten. I hope you enjoy it. ———————————————— The Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge has a central span of 4,260 feet (1.30 km; 0.81 mi). It was the longest suspension bridge in the world until it was surpassed by the Humber Bridge in the United Kingdom in 1981. The bridge has the 14th-longest main span in the world, as well as the longest in America. When the bridge was officially named in 1960, it was misspelled "Verrazano-Narrows Bridge" due to an error in the construction contract, despite the explorer's name having two "z"s.The name was officially corrected to "Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge" in October 2018. #verrazzanobridge Camera: #Canon EOS 6D Lens: EF 28-300mm 3.5-5.6L IS USM @canonusa #canon6D @siadvance #silive #just_nycshots #just_newyork #statenisland #statenislandusa #statenislandlife #statenislandphotographer #siny #nycprimeshot #ig_nycity #what_i_saw_in_nyc #topnewyorkphoto #newyork_instagram #topphotonewyork #nycgo #icapture_nyc #ny1pic #majorkimagery #ig_nyc #StatenIslandFourBridgeChallenge For even higher resolution version of this shot, please DM to acquire, or to use commercially.
