Many youths dream about declarations of love from lovers and riding off into the sunset toward a happy ending and Maki is not impulsive but the future is sometimes such a far-off variable it doesn’t factor into the heat of the moment. “I’ll make you a deal, though.”

Maki makes promises she won’t keep, but the prospect that she might makes her dizzy with what ifs. Maki gets caught up in the fantasy and is, unsurprisingly, happy to be in one.

“If you still want to get married when we’re thirty,” and she gives a knowing smile like she’s in on a joke he’s not, “well, I wouldn’t say no.”

listen. maki was the obvious choice for a villain character and i kinda wish they weren’t so predictable and made her a red herring. i fucking knew that the hate she got before was going to increase tenfold because people felt even more justified about their whole crusade against her. i don’t mind the direction maki’s character ended up going because like, come on, anyone would have trouble /not/ being obsessed with the physical manifestation of their childhood dreams, especially considering how it ended for her and despite that, she doesn’t seek closure and a quiet life with bakumon but another adventure to prove how she and bakumon are partners.

but i get that maybe you hate maki and think she’s a shady b*tch but i have many reasons for why i like her character and i honestly don’t have it in me to argue with anyone who … idk, is trying to get a rise out of me???????? is trying to educate me?????????

I’d like to add my two cents here:

Maki did things that yeah were terrible but were for a reason rather than “WORLD DOMINATION wwww”. She had pure intentions of bringing her partner back, and what makes her an antagonist was her methods.

To be EXTREMELY honest, Maki is not even a villain, she’s a legitimate anti-villain, with noble reasons and with good qualities. If you think she’s just a b🖤tch, then you do not understand the character so better you do NOT educate Maki fans.

Like I said in my other sideblog, every Chosen Children could’ve done the same. You could’ve done the same. She’s human, and relatable to the audience.

I do not like how Maki is being treated in the canon like an obsessed crazy lady having delusions, I do hope they will give her a redemption arc and she will learn her mistakes.

But I understand your opinion, but please do not bug Rory or any Maki fan. We’re not Maki. We’re Maki fans and we would like RESPECT.

Tbh I love Maki because she’s my favorite “villain” since Archnemon/Arukenimon.

maki doesn't just "want her partner back" tbh. she wants the life she felt was robbed from her and she wants to save the world. she wants to be a hero.

and like, sure, maki’s love for bakumon can be arguably conditional instead of unconditional and it's unhealthy thinking but not evil, actually. especially since she was groomed /to be/ a child soldier

and you know what, it’s cool!!! like one of my favorite lines is when she smiles at all the destruction and says “only we can save the world” or something like that. it would’ve been fucking boring if it was just “maki wants her partner back because she misses bakumon” and there was no other depth to that. maki’s whole “world domination” came with “so i can save the world with bakumon”

and the whole crazy lady angle is something that’s kinda annoying because holy shit, maki has so many other sides to her (kinda like how people kinda tend to ignore the more girly side of maki unless it’s for sexist jokes but that’s a post for another day)

Himekawa Maki, the girl who had been on his side for all those years… … did not wanted him to get closer from her.

He hadn’t been able to save her in the first time, and now… In this second chance, he’s not even able to reach her. How unfortunate, how sad, depressing. Nishijima Daigo was desperate, right after Taichi’s words about not abandoning friends, not accepting Homeostasis to sacrifice them.

He hated himself since the day he hadn’t been able to save Bakumon from that sacrifice. He had questioned Gennai a lot about it, especially when they had their contact YEARS after their adventure.

‘ ‘ Gennai-san, it had been a long time but… Is it possible to bring Bakumon back? , ,

How couldn’t she realize he was still trying his best to give her hopes for meeting Bakumon again? It was like, all those years weren’t nothing to her and that her love with him wasn’t real. Her words hurt more than Gennai’s silence or Homeostasis’ decisions.

“Himechan… It’s me, Nishijima-kun” - he said calmly - “… Daigo. I’m your friend since we were children.”

It was futile, his attempts to have her listen to him.

“I know.” She grabs onto his clothes and uses him to crawl herself up on two feet. “I don’t care.”

She quite likes Daigo. He’s easy to like, and he hasn’t changed too much from when she knew him from childhood, even if he did trade in his goggles for pink crocs. She likes his consistency. She likes his smile. She likes his laugh. She likes how his eyes are kind.

Maki doesn’t doubt that he can, like he does with many of his students, bring out the best in her.

But Daigo can’t make her a hero, even if he does let her feel like a kid again. And if Daigo lets her feel like a kid again, then Bakumon makes her a hero. It’s simple math that adds up in her muddled brain that feel is less than make and hero is more than kid and Daigo is less than Bakumon.

She pushes away from him and her knees wobble from under her.

“Go home. I’m not you’re responsibility.” She turns her back on him and, once he’s out of her line of sight, it’s easy to forget about him. He was a distraction sometimes welcome in her life in forms of romantic hugs from behind and kisses on her cheek.

But they’re not in high school anymore. And she hasn’t been a kid since she lost Bakumon.

They fell, yet… Some strange portal opened right below them. Taichi fell first, Daigo right after him.

When they reached the other side of the portal, Daigo felt like he and the Chosen of Courage had fallen on the sea.

What? Quantum Sea? No, it was dark waves, black sky and water. The creatures appeared right behind them, and Daigo had to grab Taichi’s arm and tell him to run.

“Don’t come near me and Yagami. Step back, NOW!”

The creatures just retreated, and then both Taichi and Daigo saw a body lying on the beach of gray sand.

“H-Himechan!!”

Daigo immediately forgot about Taichi and ran towards the beach. Well, Taichi will come behind him… He hoped so.

Some children dream of going on an adventure with a talking animal companion by their side. And while Maki is no longer a child, she still dreams.

Maki, with grey sand underneath her, dreams of Bakumon.

Maki dreams of Bakumon and how she feels love for not Bakumon by itself but Bakumon together with her. She dreams of her entitlement and so, she wakes up excited like a kid on Christmas, props herself up on her hands and knees and can’t seem to stand any higher but that’s alright because she expects to see Bakumon waiting for her.

She sees Daigo.

“Get away from me!”
